Very friendly staff, excellent restaurant and great location..

Mooie kamer op een top locatie. Lekker centraal bij alle restaurants, massage strand, supermarkten en de bus. Het restaurant is echt super goed. Het personeel werkt zo ongelofelijk hard. Ze zien je echt. Ik had de eerste kamer naast het restaurant maar had er totaal geen last van.

The rooms are attached to a very popular restaurant which we ate at a few times during our stay. All the staff made you feel like a VIP and it was a lovely atmosphere with great britpop music always playing. The rooms are beautiful with a private balcony where you can spot monkeys. The rooms were quiet with a comfortable four poster bed. The location of this hotel could not have been better.

Duży atut to blisko do pamiątek i innych restauracji. Dobry prysznic z ciepłą wodą. Hotel na krótki pobyt bo ciężko odpocząć w tym głośnym miejscu .

Płytki w łazience jak na schodach- niebezpieczne i nie miłe. Bardzo głośna klimatyzacja ciężko przy niej spać, wiatrak również głośny. Wieczorem na tarasie nie wyjdziesz bo śmierdzi dymem z grilla . Mokre rzeczy wywieszone na taras czuć dymem z grilla. Bardzo głośna okolica. Na siadanie czeka się ok 40 min .

The location is good. Right in the centre of unawatuna but the room was quiet. Very clean. Big comfortable bed. Fabulous food, seafood was very good. Breakfast was so good. Lots of choice. Very good value for room and breakfast. Staff friendly. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Splitting my review here and attached proof in another review. Adding more photos to the same review. To begin with, this place charged us the highest currency conversion rate we experienced in Sri Lanka, even higher than several 4- and 5-star hotels. When questioned, they said it was “as per the bank,” but they clearly applied the selling rate instead of the buying rate, which makes no sense when paying a hotel bill. We arrived around 5 PM, and the manager was unavailable when I asked about the exchange rate. When she later explained, she showed the selling rate of a random bank, higher than airport rates and other hotels we stayed at. She also mistakenly swiped another guest’s bill of around USD 250 instead of our USD 83. Although it was reversed later, it was an avoidable error. The room was okay, but there were a lot of mosquitoes, no chairs inside the room, and the balcony was unusable due to mosquitoes. The floor mats were extremely slippery—we almost injured ourselves multiple times and had to remove them entirely. These mats clearly need to be replaced.

We opted for breakfast on only one day of our three-night stay, which was the right decision. The Lankan platter looked good but some dishes were not fresh, and better, cheaper food is available at Hela Bojun Hala nearby. Fresh milk was provided in the room, which was nice. However, while the manager helped with luggage during check-in, there was no assistance at check-out. Despite informing staff we’d leave in 15 minutes, we were made to wait for payment verification while our taxi waited outside in heavy cyclone rain. Overall, the stay was average, but the poor handling of payments, lack of transparency, and inconvenient service left a bad impression.

Location is good- between the beach and the main road. Room was clean, had mosquito net.

the AC was not working well, not cooling enough. Finally we managed to get just OK temperature but is took very long and the cooling didn’t work properly. Hot water was not available when we showered in the night around midnight. Seems the focus more on restaurant rather than guests staying in the rooms. Centre of Unawatuna is pretty loud (loud restaurants, music) so be aware when choosing accommodation if you prefer calm quiet location it might not be good choice.

Daffodil is the best Restaurant in Unawatuna, they have just 4 rooms to rent. The staff is very nice and the management as well. The owners are an English girl who married a Sri Lankan man. They have had Daffodil for 8 years. I can only highly recommend you to stay here and also to eat here

There was nothing I didn't like. A perfect place

The bed was king size. Soft pillows. Good mattress. Room size was bigger than expected. Breakfast was AMAZING!

We like the location and the comfortable bed and bathroom and a really nice terrace.

Outbreaks of electricity very often in the building and internet almost never working.

Wir sind sehr froh, dieses kleine Hotel gefunden zu haben. Saubere und komfortable Zimmer. Ein kleiner Balkon. Mitten im Geschehen und trotzdem relativ ruhig. Aber das Beste ist das fantastische Frühstück. Aber auch das Abendessen hat uns absolut begeistert. Wir werden definitiv wieder kommen. Vielen Dank für alles.

Nur eine Kleinigkeit. Ein kleiner Tisch neben dem Bett wäre super. Wir hatten uns einen Stuhl geborgt.

Wat hebben we hier genoten! Een heerlijke kamer, een mooi hotel in een leuk straatje. Voor ontbijt hadden we drie opties, prima! Het diner in het visrestaurant was heerlijk, werkelijk een hoogtepunt van onze vakantie. De tonijn tartaar en steak waren werkelijk het lekkerste wat we gegeten hebben.

WiFi doesn’t work if you are far from the restaurant. I had to stay in the restaurant to use WiFi and book my tickets.

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the beach, charming cafés, and all the best spots in Unawatuna. One evening, we were lucky to enjoy live music, which made the atmosphere even more special. The room looked exactly like the photos: very comfortable, with a clean and modern bathroom. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink, which was a lovely touch. The staff was attentive and always ready to help. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing vacation in a beautiful and convenient setting!

Nothing negative actually. We extended our stay by an extra night, so it would have been nice if housekeeping had refreshed the towels, changed the bedsheets, or at least emptied the trash. Also, there was a leak from the AC that made some of my clothes wet, though the staff responded quickly and fixed it right away! There was a prolonged area-wide blackout one evening, not the hotel’s fault, of course, but something to be aware of. A couple of small suggestions: the room only had one cup even though it was a double room, and it would be nice to have coffee available in addition to tea.

It is a very nice facility where you can stay in Unawatuna. At the same time, the restaurant is quiet after 22:30. You can sleep comfortably. It is in a central location, about 10 minutes walking distance to the beach. There are many food and beverage options. It is spotlessly clean and you can stay comfortably.

A great place to stay in Unawatuna, it is situated on the main road with all the eateries and bars on there. The room is lovely and modern with a private balcony. The bathroom was new and modern. The rooms are above the restaurant so there is noise on the night, I enjoyed the live music and listening to it on my balcony. I arrived early on the day of my check in and the room was ready and I was given access straight away. The staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful in arranging an airport transfer for me, which was the cheapest one I was quoted for. Great place to stay and great value for the price.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the beach. The breakfast was served by a lovely lady that let us check out 1 hour later. The room was well equipped with a big bed, fridge, hairdryer, safe and iron. We had 3 options for breakfast and we always got a delicious juice with it. Staff was very helpful.

There is a lot of noise from the restaurant and sometimes the street outside. The street is busy with a lot of cars, tuktuks and dogs. There is live music in the restaurant on wednesday and friday so you cannot really relax in the room until 10-11pm. We chose avocado & egg toasts for breakfast but 2 times out of 3 there was no avocado.

The priority had a revamp in Dec 2024 and the room a really nice and clean, lovely modern bathroom with an amazing shower. The property is situated on the main beach road, very close to the beach and shops, the restaurant is very busy and serves delicious food. You can sit on your balcony and watch the monkeys playing in the trees, It’s a noisy busy road but everything closes down at 10pm and is very quiet.

Sadly hot water is controlled from solar panels , so no sun no hot water.

Overall the accomodation is ok, helped by the location, amazing staff and great restaurant. However, not as perfect as in the picture and there many minor details which can be improved.

Bedsheets are a bit to used, broken in same places and some spots because of extensive usage. Same wirh towels Air conditioning not properly working so has to be all day and night on to get a okeish room temperature. There is not always hot water. There are ants in the bathroom and they don't spray against. Bad wifi signal in the room

The shower is a thing of beauty, with the ability to shoot water from all angles! Comfortable bed and nice to have a balcony. Loved the music they played in the restaurant. Was able to check in early.

Very clean, nice bathroom and nice extra touches in the room like the extra mirrors, hair dryer and iron.

The water didn’t get hot and it was quite loud when the music was on but it finished by about 11 so not a problem

This place is amazing. Perfect location on the main street, but even that, u wont feel any noisy at all from the street. Room very clean and spacious, odern and noce forniture. All staff so friendly and warm. Restaurant i didn t try but it is supposed to be one of the best nearby. Good breakfast, not too much and fresh. Optimum balance with price and quality service!! I extended my staying here as i felt soo confortable. The vibe you get here is quite unique! The owner as well very nice woman and helpful! Felt like at home!

Everything more than expected!

Staying at Daffodil was great, the restaurant had so many staff and all were helpful, friendly and fun for our stay at the hotel! The room was great, good size, aircon, hot showers and all round brilliant!

It was all good.

Sit down, it's a long story =) We stayed for almost two weeks with my family of 8 people. We rented 4 rooms. Our rooms were next to each other on the second floor, and we could spend the evenings together on the balconies. I liked the location of the hotel - close to both the main road and the beach. The room was cleaned at our request. The room has everything you need: iron, kettle, refrigerator. On the one hand, the rooms are arranged quite simply, on the other hand, there was enough everything. Of course, there are many animals around the hotel that you can watch: peacocks, small birds, chipmunks, several species of monkeys. This place is also a restaurant. We had lunch here several times - very tasty and beautifully served. My personal favorites are the tuna sashimi and tom yum. In the evenings there is often live music, but this does not disturb the room at all. And, by the way, an awesome selection of Britpop music plays all day long, special respect for that! Cool place, we liked it.

We had difficulties with Wi-Fi. But this is a common problem in Sri Lanka. One time our air conditioner broke down and we waited all day for it to be fixed. Some problems always happen in life, but overall we were very pleased.

Wonderful products in the bathroom including hair conditioner and shampoo. Very large room with balcony and wet room, fridge, hairdryer and kettle. Great food.

WiFi didn't work too well

Super comfortable, fresh and clean.. even shampoo, conditioner, hand and body soap available as facilities. Welcome juice and smiles. Good breakfast at convenience. The restaurant serves great fish also.

Power cut on arrival but sorted very quickly. Very hot shower but we managed.

- One room had a bad smell - So loud from the restaurant and the street which is right outside - This is primarily a restaurant (hotel comes second), so all of the staff are very preoccupied with their restaurant duties.

Comfy bed and clean space to stay

The beds were super comfortable and great location. Staff were great and friendly .

Hot water was hit and miss and wifi was poor . We had an electric problem but through no fault of the place and was fixed the morning after . The rooms wasn't cleaned or beds changed and we stayed for a week . Also the toilet was a bit wobbly

Clean, comfy bed, good size bed, fantastic shower, bath sheet towels, lots of 3 pin sockets, great ac unit, ceiling fan alternative, mosquito net fitted around the four posts of the bed, sufficient lighting, bathroom shampoos/conditioner etc.

Only hot water if the sun shone, unpleasant smell in the bathroom which did diminish during stay, noise from music and property in front of the rooms, room wasn’t cleaned as a matter of course, small pillows without pillow protection, no blackout curtains.

Great location with a lovely, spacious room. The biggest bed that we had in Sri Lanka. Loved the brand new shower unit in the bathroom and the balcony with the seating area. The best part, though, was the super delicious breakfast 😋 We opted to the smashed avo with fried eggs, toast and onion & tomato salsa. It was really amazing and super delicious. Also got coffee with milk and fresh juice too. We liked that we were able to check in earlier than anticipated. It's always a nice surprise. Another bonus is that you can pay by card and no extra surcharge on card usage 🙌

Remember that the rooms are just above a busy restaurant, so it's noisy till late, though we were okay with this, so no negative to mention here, all was great.

Loved our stay here! The rooms were really comfortable and clean with great facilities. The balcony was also very spacious! Definitely recommend having the breakfast it was delicious! The restaurant offers amazing food and has a really fun atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Stay here if visiting Unawatuna!

Maintenance could be a little sharper. One or two things could have been fixed earlier.

Roomy location with big room + bathroom, all the amenities were there with big towels and super clean internal facilities. Staff was friendly with kind support

Since there is fish stall in the entrance, sometimes it makes some smell , but it was not a major issue for the stay

We simply loved our stay here! The room was big and clean. Bathroom was great with a good hot shower and free shampoo, conditioner etc. the balcony was nice to sit and relax and we enjoyed both fridge and kettle in the room. The breakfast was amazing with a choice of avocado toast or pancakes and a fresh juice and coffee on the side. The staff is simply lovely! We highly recommend and also recommend to eat at the restaurant!

The property is well located on the main street and they own a very good seafood restaurant too. Staff was really good.

we stayed at daffodil for 4 nights as part of our Sri Lanka trip. welcomed by owners Kerry and Raji. Room was lovely, clean and basic, perfect for us. the restaurant and bar is exceptional, fabulous fresh fish to choose every evening and great bar area to chill and people watch. This has to be the best restaurant in Unawatuna for us. perfect location in the Main Street. we highly recommend. thank you to the team for making our stay fabulous
