Tartaruga Beach Unawatuna

Posizione comoda per girare tra i negozietti di unawatuna.

Nella nostra stanza c’era della muffa e alcune formiche sulla scrivania. In tutta la struttura c’erano molte zanzare e la colazione era scadente. Se fosse più curata sarebbe davvero bella.

Ho apprezzato molto la posizione. L'hotel si trova proprio sulla spiaggia e allo stesso tempo nel centro di Unawatuna. Il cibo è ottimo. Il personale è molto gentile.

Purtroppo la mia camera era molto vicina alla reception quindi di notte sentivo tutti i rumori provenienti da lì, soprattutto il volume alto del televisore o dei video sul telefono di chi si occupava di quello spazio nelle ore notturne. In più, la stanza dava su un cantiere con lavori in corso quindi durante la giornata c'erano sempre rumori. Dalla spiaggia però questi rumori non si sentono. Un altro aspetto non negativo ma che voglio segnalare è la presenza costante dei venditori di vestiti, oggetti e cocco sulla spiaggia. Ho avuto l'impressione che stiano fissi lì e non vadano in giro presso gli altri hotel della spiaggia. Non sono fastidiosi ma all quarta volta che mi si vieni a chiedere se voglio comprare può risultare pesante, tanto più che in bassa stagione eravamo pochissime persone. Altra cosa migliorabile (che vale per tutto lo Sri Lanka) è il continuo chiedere "Va tutto bene?" agli ospiti mentre mangiano. Capisco una volta ma poi vorrei mangiare in pace. Non è un grande problema ma può dare fastidio.

The property was very pretty, and the staff were incredibly welcoming upon arrival. Warm shower and comfy bed.

Proximity to the beach and town.

The dining area was extremely hot and humid. Some staff were very nice but others less engaging and rarely smiled. Breakfast was adequate.

Wer auf Kakalaken in der Toilette und im Badezimmer steht, der kann dieses Hotel buchen. Im Bad ist ein nicht gegen Insekten gesichertes Holzfenster (mit Lamellen) gewesen, durch die die ungebetenen Gäste hineingekommen sind. Frühstück war nichts für den Übernachtungspreis.

What an amazing stay! The out of the 5 different accommodation units we changed in Sri Lanka, by far! Incredible service, amazing facilities, and a great, wide, lesser crowded beach to enjoy - with amazing bites at the hotel's restaurant. Couldn't recommend it more, a real gem!

The hotel is located at the beachfront . Room with balconies reasonably good view . Staff friendly ( Thanks Lahiru the Chef) ! Food was delicious from the restaurent . I ll definitely will come back to this hotel

Frühstück war gut gab alles. Lage direkt am Strand.Seitenstrasse zu Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants. Gute Liegen mit Auflagen und großer Sonnenschirm vorhanden. Essensmöglichkeiten im eigenen Restaurant.

Personalet var meget hjælpsom og venlig, vi havde et stort værelse, aircondition i orden. Rengøring var i orden. Hotellet ligger i centrum og ved stranden. Altid kold øl i baren.

Vi har oplevet MEGET! høj musik fra nabo-hotel. Vi har klaget over det... Personalet fra vores hotel har ringet til det andet hotel, men larmen stoppede først kl 1.00. Vi har ikke noget imod musik på stranden og er klar over at det er en turist område men det var mega højt. Personalet på stranden burde måske rydde lidt op og fjerne affald i stedet for gå og snakke, så ville det se mere indbyndne ud. Morgenmad er i form af buffet. Meget ensformig og kedelig ikke så stor udvalg. Man få kaffegrums i kaffen ..

The deluxe family room was fabulous for our family of four, with plenty of space. Views from the balcony were lovely. Great location on the beach with no end of cafes, restaurants and shops within walking distance. Would love to return!

We had to ask for extra toilet paper a couple of times - we would have appreciated a few extra rolls in the bathroom for a week-long stay.

Tolle Unterkunft direkt am Strand. Das Personal ist super bemüht und freundlich. Am Abreisetag konnten wir sogar kostenfrei ein late check-out bekommen. Gute Lage und tolle Zimmer.

Manchmal ist es etwas warm und stickig im Badezimmer, da es keine Lüftung sondern eine Art Fenster gibt.

Die Unterkunft war sehr schön, alle waren sehr freundlich und bemüht. Das Essen im Restaurant war sehr gut und die Lage am Strand traumhaft :) wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt :)

Das WLAN hat teilweise nicht so gut funktioniert, manchmal war es beim Abendessen etwas laut mit der Musik und der Preis war etwas höher, aber noch okay.

This was a beautiful building with amazing staff, right on the beach with lots to see and do. Loved my stay here.

Access by van was very tight. No lifts. Lots of stairs.

Great location in Unawatuna with direct beach access. We had a spacious and comfortable room on the 3rd floor. The staff at reception and at the connecting bar/restaurant were really great throughout our stay. Very helpful friendly and approachable.

The only downside was on 2 nights of our stay a bar near had very loud music. I appreciate this is not the Tartaruga hotels responsibility. Needed ear plugs for sleep. It was not during our whole stay.

A very clean and well-maintained place in a great location, featuring a nice pool and excellent beach access.

Staff were lovely, location on the beach and close to the restaurants was excellent. Fabulous room with the best bathroom of our whole trip

Although I feel bad for the hotel as it wasn’t their fault however the constant evening banging music was awful from the restaurant immediately next door. They also jet off random fireworks ( as in just one ) the music went on for hours and was boom boom . We couldn’t sleep and could hear it through ear plugs. Completely ruined our stay. The authorities should not allow this noise - it’s really not fair on other guests

Restaurenten var rigtig god. Gode italienske is. og så lige på stranden. Der blev spillet stille lounge musik om dagen. Hjælpsomt personale i lobbyen. Vi skulle have fat i en læge og en halv time senere havde vi en aftale.

Nabo restaurenten larmede flere gange meget med disko dasko til kl 2 om natten meget højt. Men det har ikke noget som sådan med stedet at gøre.Så bare en oplysning hvis du er lydfølsom

Clean Hotel at the beach front. The staff was very nice, you could order drinks and food at the beach. We had very good ice cream. The breakfast was nice, could have had a bit more variety if you stay a few nights

When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by a nice reception area with a very helpful young lady checking us in. We were shown to our room ( deluxe double no balcony) Very spacious, clean , excellent fan and air conditioning. Nice bathroom. Crisp sheets..tea and coffee etc. safe for valuables..probably one of the best appointed rooms we stayed in in Srilanka. Beyond reception there’s a very nice swimming pool, really clean and cool. Out onto the beach area there’s a little beach bar manned by very friendly staff. Good cold beers ! Out onto the sand there are sunbeds with a helpful chap to sort them out. When we left we had a later flight so they kindly gave us a late checkout.

Couldn’t understand why the sunbeds were all set back off the beach with maybe ten white tables and chairs blocking the view of the sea…nobody sat at those tables (no umbrellas).. the hotel needs to move the beds to the front. The path leading from reception and the pool to the beach was scruffy and never raked..with broken stones and rubbish on it and there was piles of old rubbish and glass between the hotel and the Lucky Tuna hotel. They seem to have a bit of a Tuk Tuk taxi rank right at the back of the hotel so 2 or 3 drivers lolling around …and this brings me to the fact all these guys are lolling around right beside the beach Shower…the manager either needs to move the shower or move the people…women and children are showering there and made to feel quite uncomfortable with these men sitting there a few meters away..all a bit creepy. Lastly, and this is probably down to poor training or just ignorance… although the reception staff, bar staff, chefs and helpful beach man were all friendly and helpful, there seem to be a lot of staff just lolling around outside , just sitting and on their iPhones…almost like they were customers.

Property on the beach. Big rooms and nice balconies. Rooms kept clean but could’ve used mosquito plug ins in the room.

Breakfast was included in my rate but below average. Offered only one option for juice: mixed fruit. A couple of pieces of lukewarm fruit were served as a “platter”. Toast came but the butter was frozen solid.

Stayed for 7 days at Tartaruga and we had an amazing experience. Right from the begining to the end Shyam was so hospitable, made us feel right at home. Very humble, polite and took great care off us. He was truly a great host. Staff also was amazing (Lucky/Budhini/Sohan/Milan) were the best, so friendly and always had a smile and very helpful Not forgetting Dumindar who drove us to 3 different excursions organised by Shyam This place felt like a home away from home Beach was amazing and at our doorsteps Absolutely enjoyed every moment at Tartaruga and would highly recommend this place.

Sehr freundliches Personal! Schönes Hotel in perfekter Lage. Unsere Zimmer waren perfekt (34&35) mit Meerblick. Der Pool wirkt klein, aber war für uns völlig ausreichend. Leckeres Frühstück und Essen im Restaurant, Eis fast wie in Italien. Der Strandabschnitt war sauber.

Im Bad wird es sehr warm. Ein Ventilator wäre schön.

Lo mejor la ubicación, primera línea de playa con tumbonas , y en medio de la playa de unawatuna. El restaurante está muy bien, buena relación calidad/precio, pizzas muy buenas y cerveza fría.

No sirven agua el día a día, si quieres una botella de agua te la cobran, deberían de reponerte el agua de la habitación todas las mañanas

Liked the spacious room near the pool. The room was modern and clean Friendly Staff and at the beach plenty of sun loungers with matress and parasol. Around the corner shops restaurants!

The sea was too wild But it was good to swim in the pool instead The whole day external people tried to sell something even at dinner table on the beach. In another restaurant they were not allowed to come that close

Location is really nice just in front of the beach. Rooms have a good size and are comfy. Really nice view from our rooms 34&35. Restaurant has a great choice for the half board and the portion are good. It was nice to have our dinner on the beach. Staff is friendly.

The staff at Tartaruga are truly lovely, very accommodating and excellent service. It is right on the beach and easy walking distance to restaurants etc. We ate lunch there most days and the food was fine. The hotel overall is lovely and a nice place to be. We did have issues with our room and noise sadly. We were initially given a family room that was in a separate building to the main block and was not like the pictures at all, the bathroom was barely big enough to turn around in and it was very scrappy although the room was clean. Directly outside one of the windows is an alley that is used by a lot of motorbikes/Tuk Tuks and also for storage and the noise at night was unbearable and constant and the bikes/people talking and banging started again at around 05:30am. We asked to be moved and were put in a different room in the main block for most of the rest of our stay. Whilst the room was lovely Unfortunately noise was also an issue in this room due to music from the club next door which was incredibly loud in the room every night (I think the club is only open Fri to Sun and might not be heard in rooms in the middle of the hotel possibly) We did raise it with the hotel and they are aware it’s an issue and mentioned that they have spoken to the local police about it. They advised the music is supposed to be turned off at midnight although it was gone 3am one night when we stayed. It’s a shame otherwise I would have given the hotel a much higher rating but we barely got any sleep during our whole stay!

Amazing location for the beach and local restaurants/shops, great pool, fab varied breakfast- party vibes in the area generally but this hotel is quite chilled.

Small and intimate hotel where you are not just a number. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. Very clean and modern look. Our toddler loved the swimming pool. The breakfast every morning was good with a nice sea view, but would prefer a bigger variety of food. But in general the food was good and our toddler loved the fresh fruit every morning.

The beach has a good access to the ocean, no waves, suitable for swimming. Sun beds, towels included, beach bar... all you need. We had a standard room, big enough, clean, with fan and A/C. The staff is cleaning the whole area constantly, very friendly and helpful. Sri Lankan and continental breakfast.

Once we paid to upgrade our room, the room was lovely.

Do not bother if you get the cheaper room. It was awful. It felt like you were walking into the back of the kitchen.

Rooms are spacious, we had a sea view balcony, amazing. All the staff are very accommodating from reception to breakfast to bar to beach and housekeeping. The pool was a massive addition as didn’t see another hotel on the beach which had one. Loved the the turtle coming onto the beach infront of the hotel one evening and laying her eggs - what a special moment.

The budget room really is not worth the price, they ask for so we took an upgrade (the budget room is what I know from back packer Hostels but then I didnt spend 100 bucks per night). Breakfast buffet has everything, you look for but feels a bit "demotivated". In total our stay feld quite overpriced

Location, private beach and friendly staff

We reserved the double economic room which was next to the staff quarter, the kitchen and the public bathroom and therefore it was extremely loud. They started cleaning at 4am which made us wake up every day. The walls were paper thin which meant we could hear literally everything from the other room. On Sunday evening there was a party next door and the loud music went on until midnight. These all made impossible to rest and sleep. The photos don’t resemble the actual conditions especially the bathroom. The hotel seems to be a bit ran down. The breakfast was poor and most probably I’ve got salmonella from the egg. I could never recommend this hotel to anyone and definitely not for this price.
