Lo mejor del alojamiento fue el personal que nos hizo sentir muy comodos durante toda la estancia. El restaurante que tienen en el piso superior tiene una terraza muy acogedora y que permite evadirte del caos de la calle. Preparan la comida con mucho cariño y tienen unos platos muy tradicionales.

La entrada genera confusion, no parece que entres a un hotel.

Auf der Straße stehend weiß man ohne Hilfe nicht, wo es hineingeht und der Aufgang ist zunächst unübersichtlich, weil etwas verschachtelt.

Nous avons eu un problème de tuyauterie au niveau des douches, une première dans l’hôtel, mais nous avons apprécié l’attitude et le geste commercial de la famille.

The Sacred City Tourist Resort is a hidden gem of Anuradhapura, a small jungle in the city. The owners are two fantastic people who have directed us to visit both days. Without them we would have missed one of the most beautiful experiences of the trip. We also had fantastic dinner and breakfast!

Honestly, the shower squeegee was unique. The majority of our stays in Sri Lanka didn't have it. We were otherwise glad for the helpful staff.

At first, we weren't sure we are at the right place. Outside presentation could be better.

Pas la moindre armoire dans la chambre 2 prises de courant en tout même pas à côté du lit le ménage a été fait à ma demande après 3 nuits, sinon même la poubelle n'était pas vidée et la seule serviette de toilette (par personne) n'était pas changée 3ème étage sans ascenseur

La famille est très sympa et arrangeante. La salle d'eau de la chambre où nous étions donnait sur des palmiers c'était très agréable de se doucher en ayant cette vue. La chambre et les parties communes étaient très propres.

La peinture pourrait être rafraîchie.

Les personnes de cette guest house sont vraiment adorables ! La chambre était simple et efficace, rien à dire.

Very friendly helpful staff. Roof terrace very pretty.

So, so noisy. On a very busy road. Had to have music on to be able to enjoy sitting on the terrace. There were 2 dogs roaming the guest house and they left poo in the communal areas. It was cleaned up quickly. Very difficult to find as they are doing building work. We had to walk through a disused shop, and there were no signs.

I had 2 nights here staying in one of the windowless rooms. A windowless room is no issue if you are wondering whether to book it as there are many places in the property you can sit outside if you don’t like spending time in a windowless room. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The family were lovely and helped us with every request. We had breakfast and dinner both days at the property, and the food was fantastic. Traditional Sri Lankan home cooked food, along with bottle of cooled water at each meal. Once we had finished they offered if I wanted any more. On the second night I had to say yes as the chicken curry was amazing. We had a day tour, booked through the family, with what seems to be a friend (he was great), who took us around the Ancient City of Anuradhapura (9:30 - 13:30). By night we were also taken to the Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, it was beautiful and a very peaceful place - even though there were 100s of people praying, giving offerings and a sermon being conducted. There were also two gorgeous dogs at the property. Some people in the reviews have mentioned this as problem. The only reason I’d say it was a problem is if you didn’t like dogs, as they were such lovely happy animals. I think people forget this is a homestay not a hotel. Overall a really great stay.

The property is difficult to find. There are two ways in. The first is through what looked to be on old hair salon, which is under building renovation, on the main road (Maithripala Senanayake Mawatha). You have open the glass door, go through to the end of the room, up the staircase, move the wooden board (then move it back, what I presume is to stop the dogs getting out), follow the walkway round and then continue up 2 more flights of stairs until you reach the communal area. The other entrance, and the one I’d say is used more, is on a road off the main road, next to Sorriso Restaurant. You need to go through the large black gate (often open and often with a car parked on the path), go left at the building site, through a smaller black pedestrian gate, up three flights of stairs and you’ll come to the communal area. The WhatsApp commutation could be improved. I often asked a question and didn’t receive a reply after many hours, so I had to go and find the hosts; however, this wasn’t difficult as they were always about and able to answer and help very promptly. Finally, was that the shower wasn’t warm. Not a major issue as some of the other home stays I’ve been to in Sri Lanka only have cold water. Also we didn’t say anything to the hosts (as we did not mind too much as a cold ish shower in 30 degrees is fine) so there is a chance that they may have been able to make it hotter, I just never asked. These are the only improvements I’d suggest, and are very minor and did not affect the quality of the stay.

Nice clean spacious room with a comfortable bed. The air conditioner has a fabulous comfort mode which made sleeping really easy. They were very kind to me and I got the impression they would help anyone that they could. It's a no frills guesthouse but is really very good at what it does!

The street isn't the nicest.. just a couple of blocks behind is much calmer and greener. It's quite a noisy building so take earplugs. You will never find the entrance without calling them. I'm not sure why they don't send people instructions before hand.

The hotel is close to the new bus station and a few restaurants.

When I arrived, it was impossible to find the location. Turns out I had to walk through an under construction / abandoned store (very creepy in the nighttime) - I had to find the owner by going 3 stories and l and getting past 3 dogs. I paid my room 50$ for for 2 nights (very pricey for Sri Lanka) - it had no windows, and. When I very kindly asked for another the only other room they had was without windows. At the end of my stay, I paid and gave my honest review to the owner that I found it too expensive for the quality (can literally get a 4 star hotel at this price - they both (husband and wife) said they don’t care about reviews. I came here mostly because every review said it was amazing and the owners are so nice but with me, they really weren’t.

Fantastique. En fait, il faut passer par une entrée secrète...et monter des escaliers pour découvrir cet endroit atypique. C'est un immeuble avec de jolies chambres a chaque palier. Nous avons apprécié ce décor car il y a des plantes, des recoins avec des tables. Il y a de la vie et on rencontre des locaux. C'est cela qui est bien car c'est ça les voyages...

Zur Zeit ist das eine Baustelle! Außerdem war niemand vom Personal vor Ort. Nach mehrstündiger Anfahrt standen wir vor verschlossenen Türen, und das obwohl die Unterkunft auf Booking.com wirbt. Dementsprechend "gut gelaunt" war ich.

We stayed a night at Sacred City Tourist Resort and really enjoyed it there. The room was spacious, very clean and the beds were comfy. The hotel staff were very nice and hospitable, and they recommended us the best guided tour of the sacred city. Highly recommend visiting the sacred city with the recommended guide and doing the evening tour too.

Gewoon top! Zeer lieve eigenaars!!! Heerlijk gekookt voor ons. Maar ook alles geregeld om alle cultuur te zien met een prachtig uitzicht op dakterras.

1 heel klein minpuntje. Kamer van de dochters had geen raam en als je wat minder ter been bent.. het is een paar trappen omhoog. Maar je wordt heel vriendelijk geholpen met je koffers

Prachtige groene plek midden in het centrum van Anuradhampura. Hele gastvrije familie, die alles voor je kan regelen als je dat wil. Een groene oase in prachtige stad.

La familia es encantadora siempre dispuestos a ayudar en cualquier momento. Nos buscaron guía con tuktuk por muy buen precio y nos dieron recomendaciones por la zona.

Propere kamer, leuk terras met vele planten. Heel behulpzame gastvrouw en echtgenoot. Zowel Minithale als de stadstoer via hen geboekt en zeer tevreden van. Uitstekend ontbijt en diner, typisch Sri Lankaans. Prijskwaliteit zeer goed!

Very beautiful place in a busy city with a nice green rooftop. Very lovely owners and the food was excellent. The best we had so far!

Lief personeel, we voelde ons erg verwelkomd. We mochten onze spullen achter laten tijdens de Safari, super lief! Er zijn twee honden, veel planten en je ziet zelfs soms apen in de bomen.

Veel lawaai van de straat ‘s nachts. Ook deden de honden hun behoefte op de grond, dat was niet zo fris.

Tra i posti più puliti in cui abbiamo soggiornato. Proprietari disponibili e gentili, una bella struttura e degli spazi esterni curati e verdeggianti. Stanze ordinate e dotate di aria condizionata e zanzariere. Molto consigliato!

De behulpzaamheid van de eigenaren was erg goed! Toen onze taxi niet kwam opdagen werd er gelijk geschakeld om ons toch naar het busstation te brengen. Ze hebben goede ideeën voor activiteiten die je kan ondernemen en hebben hele goede gidsen om deze activiteiten nog indrukwekkender te maken. Ook het eten was erg goed en vers bereid door de eigenaren zelf. Dikke aanrader dus!!

Leider nur kaltes Wasser zum duschen, kein Fenster und sehr harte Kissen.

Camere molto pulite, ampie e profumate, aree condivise molto curate. Un vero angolo di paradiso nel caos della città, sembra di essere in giardino botanico curato in ogni dettaglio, e regala ai suoi ospiti tranquillità e bellezza. I proprietari sono adorabili, gentilissimi e pronti ad accogliere ogni richiesta. Cena e colazione deliziose, cibo ottimo, gustoso e freschissimo. Cucinano benissimo! In più la posizione è perfetta per visitare la città e per il terminal dei bus, a 5 minuti a piedi. Insomma, consigliatissimo!

The owners were both so kind and helpful, they really tried to offer as much help and advice as possible (including discussing bus and train options to other places outside of Anuradhapura). The room was also nice and comfortable.

Super Unterkunft und mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigt. Auch der grüne Außenbereich läd zum Verweilen ein. Sehr herzliche und hilfsbereite Inhaber. Hatte sowohl ein Abendessen als auch ein Frühstück dort und beides war wirklich sehr lecker und authentisch. Ich würde wiederkommen 🥰

De familie die het hotel runt was super lief en behulpzaam! De kamer was goed: een comfortabel bed, goede kussens, klamboe en airco. Wij hadden geen warm water, maar dat vonden we oké. Ook het eten was lekker! Er waren overal mooie planten en twee lieve honden We hebben ook een leuke tour gedaan met een gids die ons veel kon uitleggen. Tip: ga in de avond naar Bodhi tree en de grote witte stupa ernaast. Dat raden ze ook aan vanuit het hotel. We raden het iedereen aan om hier te verblijven!

The room was spotless, so clean! The hosts were so friendly. The breakfast was amazing! Ive lived in Sri Lanka for over a year and this was one of the best homestay style b&bs I've visited in the country. I'll definitely re book next time I go to Anuradhapura. Great stay all round!

Ich kann diese Unterkunft ohne Bedenken empfehlen! Die Lage ist sehr zentral, nah an Restaurants, atm, Supermarkt, Sehenswürdigkeiten etc Zimmer sind sauber, Balkon und AC Die Gastgeber sind super freundlich, ich war alleine unterwegs und fühlte mich nicht alleine gelassen, ganz im Gegenteil! Es wurde sich um mich gekümmert, alle meine Fragen ohne Probleme beantwortet, meine Weiterfahrt mit dem Bus organisiert usw Danke der netten Familie!

Nur 1 großes Handtuch für alles, 1 kleines Handtuch wäre nicht verkehrt Kein Shampoo für die Dusche, nur eine kleine Handseife Das sind aber nur Kleinigkeiten, deswegen gibt es von mir trotzdem 10/10!

Non vi fate spaventare dall’ingresso e dalla prima rampa di scale, se salite all’ultimo piano troverete un paradiso molto curato e pulito. La famiglia che lo gestisce è molto carina e disponibile. Le camere all’ultimo piano sono molto belle, comode e pulite, con balcone, acqua calda, aria condizionata e zanzariera sul letto. Buona anche la colazione che abbiamo scelto occidentale (toast burro e marmellata, pancake e frutta), ma era offerta anche quella tradizionale dello Sri Lanka.

The woman that greeted us was so nice, she helped us with everything. Also finding tour guides and everything. The guides were also perfect so I would definitely recommend to friends!!

There was a lot of noise coming from the bathroom and outside, unless you’re super tired from travelling it’s very difficult to sleep… but we were tired the first day so we enjoyed our sleep😇

The owners of this guesthouse are very accommodating, they organised an evening tour for us to the Bodhi tree and surrounding area for a very good price. The breakfast and dinner were also delicious and very big portions! Nice big room, comfortable bed. Very cute dogs!!

Spotlessly clean room with great AC machine, very comfortable bed and gorgeous outdoor terrace and rooftop to relax and enjoy the sunset. The couple who run it are so welcoming and kind, they really care about your time here and are very helpful. I visited during Vesak, an important Buddhist holiday and they invited me to join the festivities at a local families home which was really kind and a special experience for me

Vista dal terrazzo carina, buona aria condizionata in stanza. Posizione comoda e buona pulizia. Perfetto per una/due notti se si cerca qualcosa di semplice a poco costo. I proprietari ci anno accolto facendoci un succo fresco e ci hanno mostrato i tour con loro convenzionati in tuktuk.

Dal bagno arrivano degli insettini poiche aveva l'areazione da fuori, ma nulla di che. La mattina entra molta luce ma questo è un problema un po in tutto lo Sri lanka. Difficile da trovare l'ingresso perché non ben segnalato e bisogna passare da un retro di un palazzo che è difficile notare. La struttura da fuori non si presenta bene perché un po fatiscente ma all'interno tutto buono. Il gestore è gentile ma non ha saputo darci indicazioni valide per prendere il bus il giorno dopo e ce la siamo dovuti cavare da soli, speravamo potesse essere più informato o aiutarci.

Simple and clean and everything I needed for a basic stay. The husband and wife are very friendly and helpful. The garden is lovely. There is a fabulous restaurant next door. They can organise tours if you like and it is recommended given the heat and distances. The property entrance is at the back and down a short alley. Ask Eiffel Tower shop if you can’t find the entrance.

It is very hot and the AC didn’t keep up and so I also asked for a fan. A neighbouring shop has ultra loud music but it stops at 10pm.

Colazione tipica buonissima e abbondante servita in terrazza. Molto gentili ci hanno aiutato ad organizzare la giornata con un autista che ci ha fatto visitare anche siti meno turistici. Dato che c'era un blackout in tutto il paese ci hanno offerto un upgrade della camera visto che quella prenotata era senza finestra. Consigliato!
