The light in the bathroom came on automatically, which if you went in the middle of the night it would come on and wake your partner.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026We enjoyed our stay Port 56 Guesthouse. The hosts were kind and upgraded one of our rooms so we had sitting area to hang out in. However it ment I slept in a bunkbed that was not as comfy, but their kindness outweighed that. You get your own key to get in and out of the house, and it was very easy to check in and check out. The hosts were very responsive to any inquires. The location is a bit down the street from the main area, in a more residential area. However this is an expensive area to stay and so for the price, it made it more than worth having to go a bit further.

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026Brilliant as always. Clean, great location and spacious rooms. As a parent of a baby I am always keen to see how well rooms hold up for a sleeping baby’s needs. I love that Port 56 has a clean cot, floors that don’t squeak, beds that don’t squeak when I get in, lights that don’t automatically come on, and little noise from outside getting in. Port 56 meets all this criteria, and is a welcome change from my own home! Loved it.

It wasn't clear from the photos that the room had no window. There was a large opaque skylight, but I probably wouldn't have booked if I'd known there was no window.

There was a complete mix up on breakfast - so be careful how you book the rooms, Noone in to book you in so unclear. Lady owner was quite rude over meial but the man was very pleasant to deal with

They’ve added some touches that make all the difference, such as blackout blinds, fresh air system for the room, bathroom mirror that doesn’t steam up, plenty of water in fridge, parking etc. It’s only an 8 min walk to Portstewart strand - great place to stay!!

Small fridge, coffee/tea/kettle in the room. Walking distance to Portstewart boulevard, seaside, walking paths, beach. Good parking and privacy. Good beds. Excellent for individual travelers and short stays.

We couldn't get a hold of any staff. The numbers left didn't work, tried texting them and didn't get answers, tried emailing and still no reply.

I didn't have the breakfast and cannot comment on that. I did get a pass for the rope bridge with help from the owners yet sadly due to 70 mph winds, it was closed. Great conversation and written details about local places to eat and visit. Very safe!!
