My stay at The Rebello was absolutely exceptional. The design, blending industrial heritage with modern luxury, is stunning. Our room was spacious, beautifully appointed, and the private balcony offered breathtaking views of the Douro River. A true highlight was the Satyam Wellness Club—the fact that access to the sublime indoor pool, sauna, and steam rooms is included is incredible. The "no swimwear" policy in the spa area allowed for a genuinely relaxing, authentic European experience. Alma rooftop restaurant served exquisite Portuguese cuisine with unforgettable sunset views. The service was attentive and genuine, and the location in Gaia is perfect. More than a hotel, it's a destination. An unforgettable experience.
One of the best hotel views I've been to in a hotel that is considered "affordable luxury." The view from my balcony was absolutely beautiful. I highly advise paying a fee (I paid $40 per night) to secure in advance a balcony river view room as there are only a limited amount of rooms like this. Sometimes they have sales and I paid around $370 per night for my room. The room was very spacious and very clean (I have very high standards for cleanliness). The rooftop bar was gorgeous as well and I got food there. Service was nice. They let me store my luggage after checkout so I can still enjoy the city. Its about 10 min Uber to a lot of the main parts of Porto. The view is something I still think about so that's the best part of this hotel. The Spa was okay - the water was just lukewarm. It's more like an indoor pool. The breakfast was pretty good and there were many options. The waiters at breakfast were nice. I rarely write hotel reviews but just thought the view here was too good to not share.
The Rebello exceeded our expectations. The hotel is beautiful, clean, luxurious , in a great location, and the staff could not be any more accommodating. My daughter's boyfriend wanted to propose to her and the staff did everything to make the proposal happen. They helped him with every aspect of the proposal (rooftop, flowers, champagne) to make this special moment memorable. We would definitely come back and recommend The Rebello to any visitor to Porto.
We come to Porto 3-4 times a year for family, and decided for Xmas to treat ourselves to a night in a hotel just us. (Get some space and relax). We were blown away! This is the best hotel we've stayed at in Portugal, not just Porto. We loved our room, the spa and the breakfast. All the little extras! So much so we booked to stay in Feb when we're back ...... just need to tell the family 😬 The gym is good for a hotel gym, although there was a big machine I couldn't work out. Thank you for not just making, but saving Christmas for me!
We had a wonderful experience at Hotel Rebello in Porto. The location is perfect, offering a beautiful view of Vila Nova de Gaia across the river. It's close enough to the main attractions but still peaceful enough to enjoy some quiet time. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. They really go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need, always with a smile. It’s clear they care about providing a personal touch and creating a comfortable environment for guests. Our room was clean, cozy, and had all the necessary amenities. We can tell the hotel puts effort into maintaining the space, and it definitely feels like a home away from home and Breakfast was another highlight of our experience. The service was exceptional, and everything was fresh and well-prepared. The staff took great care in serving breakfast, ensuring a pleasant and relaxed start to the day. It truly added to the overall charm and comfort of the hotel. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're visiting Porto. Whether we are there for a short trip or a longer stay, Hotel Rebello offers an amazing combination of great service, fantastic views, and a cozy, homely vibe. I’d definitely stay here again!
Went away for 2 nights for my wife’s birthday. We had a lovely time. The hotel was beautiful with a fantastic view from our room looking over the river and the dom Luís bridge. We were looked after very well in the hotel with every member of staff more than happy to help and wanted to recommend things for us to do and try. Breakfast was really tasty and peaceful and the roof top bar had a lovely view and great food / drink. The hotel was located right next to the cable cars which took us to the top of the dom Luís bridge and was also very close to the main port tasting tours. Would highly recommend a stay here.
Well worth visiting the Rebello & experiencing great service etc. the view from the 4th floor is something to see. A helicopter flip is always a must for me
Great Location, walking distance of historical downtown of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Very friendly and helpful staff, always attentive and supportive. The hotel is greatly decorated and it has all services for a great stay!!!
This was a truly beautiful and modern hotel. We loved that we could have multiple bedrooms within a suite, perfect for our family. The furnishings and appliances were top notch. We had incredible views of the river from our room. We enjoyed the indoor pool and sauna one evening of our stay and LOVED the buffet breakfast. We also dined at Pots & Pans one evening and thought the food and presentation were excellent! Highly recommend this hotel and we would absolutely stay again.
Perfect for a weekend gateway with my wife Employees of the hotel are very welcoming Swimming pool and spa is also great ! We recommend
Highly recommend the Rebello. It is a beautiful 15-20 minutes walk to the bridge! The location may look out of the way from downtown Porto but it's actually conveniently located. The view from the room and the rooftop is gorgeous. I used the SPA tranquil water room; the pool was too small, the jacuzzi is strong but the water was barely warm. It wasn't impressive. The breakfast was amazing. Good spread and made-to-order options were fantastic. We had a 3 bedroom suite and it was spacious and very new.
The Rebello was absolutely perfect for our stay in Porto, and we’re really grateful we chose it. It’s set just across the river in Vila Nova de Gaia, in a quieter area that still has plenty of great restaurants and bars close by. We loved that we could enjoy the calm on the Gaia side and still be just a short walk over the Dom Luís I bridge from the heart of Porto. The service at the hotel was warm and attentive, and our room was comfortable and nicely appointed—everything felt thoughtfully done. One of our favorite spots was the rooftop bar and restaurant, which offers a beautiful, more peaceful view of Porto across the river. Overall, we couldn’t have been happier with our stay and truly appreciated how well we were looked after. We would very happily stay at The Rebello again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Porto.
From the time we arrived until we left, the staff were first class. There is absolutely nothing I can fault. The room was immaculate, unbelievably friendly. Whatever you wanted it was supplied. Food was exceptional and if you are lucky enough to be here when they are doing a wine tasting & Jazz night, highly recommended. Just make sure you are hungry, the food is exceptional. The views from the rooms are spectacular,
Wonderful stay- beat location - the view of Porto is just amazing. If I had stayed in Porto, the view is nothing to compare. Walkable city - even from Gaia
All around great hotel, beautiful design, clean, good food, beautiful view. Would 10/10 recommend this hotel! We will definitely stay here again!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay The Rebello. The rooms were spacious and had all the amenities one could want, including a hair diffuser, the first time I’ve ever seen one in any level of hotel room ever! We had reserved a one-bedroom unit that had a cooktop, small fridge and microwave. The best part was it had two bathrooms, so my husband and I didn't have to share. I imagine for a family with kids staying in the space, it would all be very desirable. They even provided complimentary bottles of wine and beverages in the room (if you want them replenished, there is a charge). A lovely buffet breakfast was included in the Pots & Pans restaurant. The staff was lovely, every member was helpful, knowledgeable and kind. They could easily order airport transportation, help with dinner reservations and give tourist advice. We eat in both restaurants, which were great options, and had a relaxing massage at the spa. We really had an enjoyable, comfortable time at the hotel. The hotel is across the bridge from the main part of Porto, but the walk is super easy and pleasant. The views from our room toward Porto were lovely and we appreciated the window seats in both rooms to see it.
Beautiful hotel in a very convenient and fabulous location with awesome service, generous offerings and great amenities.
The Rebello is a great hotel to stay in while visiting Porto. Wonderful staff, great Riverside appartment with frontal view of Dom Louis I bridge and the old city. Breakfast is rich and tasteful as is the Pot & Pan restaurant. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Also liked the fitness room and sauna. All and all a great second stay.
We really enjoyed our stay, we were welcomed by the lovely Miguel and shown around the hotel. We stayed in a lovely suite with amazing views, rooms was clean and very very spacious, perfect after a long day exploring we could relax in our room which had kitchen amenities. Situated on the other side of the river to the city but it was a lovely walk with plenty restaurants and river entertainment, port tasting and we found a mercado which we found so cheap to eat and drink. The spa was relaxing; we got a 45 minute a lot which was enough. Breakfast was wonderful, you could chose from the buffet or order something fresh. We loved everything about this hotel and would definitely return, I’d recommend to everyone. We found the staff welcoming and helpful to answer any of our questions about there to go.
Truly amazing. Best view in town and the massage was an absolute dream! Highly highly recommend. The staff was all super friendly and the hotel super modern with an edge.
We were not familiar with the hotel (although later discovered it’s part of the Hilton SLH brand) and were absolutely blown away. Our two-bedroom river view suite had one attached bedroom (no separate window but a sliding door to the living room) and one gigantic master bedroom, each with its own bathroom. Add the spacious living, dining, and kitchen area and it was over 1,000 sq feet. Every comfort was provided, but the absolute, mind blowing attraction is the views. I could sit in the window seat all day and watch the rebello boats go buy on the river, or the lights coming on at night. We also loved the location, at the edge of the bustling Gaia tourist area but quiet and serene. We walked or took Ubers everywhere. We didn’t want to leave! Note: the hotel is in a series of renovated warehouses so the vibe is industrial and spacious. Can’t wait to come back and stay here again.
The rooms and staff are beyond compare! Great Location! Walking distance from everything. Rooms are modern, roomy and beautifully appointed. Great view of the river. The staff wants to please and is very well trained.
My husband and I went for a therapeutic massage. The masseuses were very helpful, welcoming, and professional. We both left extremely relaxed and very happy with our experience. Would definitely recommend The Rebello’s spa options.
The Rebello is an exceptional hotel with stunning views over Porto and the Douro River. The design blends modern comfort with local charm, and our room was amazing, stylish, and spotless. Staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel at home from the start. Breakfast was delicious, and the spa was a real treat after a day exploring. A perfect stay we’ll definitely return!
Fantastic view. One of the best views of the Porto Ribeira. Very well appointed hotel. SMEG appliances in the Studio with the River View. State of the art coffee maker, robes and slippers that actually fit. The hotel thought of everything for client comfort. Luxurious linens on an extremely comfortable bed. The shower has great water pressure. It didn't take me half an hour to rinse the shampoo off my hair, as with certain hotels that cheapen the experience under the guise of "saving water". Climate control worked well, although I chose to sleep with the sliders open to the river. Not noisy during the night. It's located within steps of the Port wine houses and restaurants yet, far enough that the noise isn't an issue at all. Definitely planning on a return trip. The staff couldn't be nicer. Breakfast was very well done. Very tasty and lots of choices. Rooftop bar is worth the visit. Indoor and outdoor options.
Amazing spa experience! Our facials were so relaxing and sauna/pool time before was awesome! I couldn’t recommend it enough!
Hotel was perfect, staff were so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about whatever we asked them. View from rooftop area was magnificent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Travelled as two adults and 17 year old. Chose hotel due to location and the 2 bedroomed suites to give us all space. Hotel did not disappoint. Easy walkable distance from Gaia’s restaurants and Port lodges. A really nice 30 mins walk to Porto over the bridge. Breakfast was great if not a little chaotic at times but the food was lovely. Staff overall were kind and helpful. Rooftop bar was very nice and peaceful. Only negative was very cold swimming pool in indoor spa meaning the relaxing spa experience wasn’t as enjoyable as it should have been.
Great stuff, excellent location? Perfect for families! Nice breakfast, first time when we booked a time of arrival. Pool is smal, but cool, as well as sauna. Thanks, George
We were warmly welcomed by Ann(a), who gave us a lovely tour of the hotel before showing us to our rooms. The service and friendliness of the staff were excellent, and at first, we were very impressed. Unfortunately, our experience quickly took a disappointing turn. On the first evening, the door handle of the bathroom in the master bedroom broke off. It was repaired the next day, but the following issues were far more concerning. We noticed stains and marks on the bathroom walls, which we immediately reported to the staff, yet the problem was never resolved. The condition of the bathroom walls remained the same until the day we checked out. On the second day, when we returned to our room late in the evening, we found glass shards all over the floor in the children’s room. This was extremely unsafe and unacceptable—especially in what claims to be a five-star hotel like Rebello. Thankfully, none of the children were injured. We immediately informed the staff, who apologized, but such an incident should never have happened in the first place. Another major issue was cleanliness. We chose not to have our rooms cleaned daily, but even so, the amount of mold and grime around the shower area was shocking. There was also black mold visible near the jacuzzi and on the walls. This is simply not acceptable for a hotel of this standard. We even took photos of the hair on the bathroom walls, the glass shards, and the mold in the shower to document these problems. Overall, while the staff were kind and welcoming, the maintenance and hygiene standards fell far below what one would expect from a five-star establishment. Considering the high price we paid, the overall experience did not meet our expectations. The value for money was disappointing, and we left feeling that the quality of the facilities did not justify the cost. We specifically chose Rebello because it is part of the Hilton group. I regularly stay at Hilton hotels for business trips and have always appreciated the consistent quality and service. The staff at Rebello were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and professional. However, more attention should be given to the hygiene and maintenance of the bathrooms, particularly the shower areas. The presence of hair on the bathroom walls and visible mold growth should be addressed urgently. We are sharing this feedback privately rather than posting it publicly, as we believe it is more constructive to communicate our concerns directly with the hotel. We genuinely hope the management will take this feedback seriously and show that guest satisfaction is a true priority. A positive gesture from your side would certainly restore our confidence and encourage us to return to Rebello in the future.
Again honest review we arrived early 9.30am and room wasn't ready but able to store bags so we could go out without carrying around. Lovely friendly welcome at reception and when room ready shown to our room and brought our bags up. 2 bedroom room well amazing very large with everything needed for Lovely comfortable stay plenty of room! We didn't have a balcony but the view over city beautiful. Beds comfortable pillows Lovely ! Robes and slippers really nice to just relax in. The complimentary coffee pods, milk and water very good and the 1st drink nice touch! Spa/pool although small was very nice and welcoming to use and staff so nice and helpful. This hotel is very good location with plenty or restaurants and bars around the market hall. Just 10 min walk to the Dom Luis bridge to go over to the other side nice walk and cable cars so close. We didnt eat or drink at the hotel but unless get breakfast included isn't cheap. The rooftop bar for some reason closed to have drink due to weather unsure as wasnt windy or raining in the evening so was bit disappointed but did managed to take a picture of view. Real pity couldn't soak up the stunning views day/night with a drink and relax as this is selling point of the hotel its amazing! All in all fabulous stay in beautiful place with great staff! Thank you
Hotel set in lovely position to visit both sides of the river but do not feel it lives up to 5 star quality/ standards Rooms quite sparse, breakfast has good choice but lack of staff means replenishing is little slow Pool is little cold for an indoor pool/spa
The Rebello is by far one of the best hotels I've been too in the last couple of years. The place looks fresh, clean, calm. Breakfast is great, the rooftop restaurant has a wonderful view and a good menu, the sauna and pool are well designed. The staff is friendly, professional and helpful. Staying in touch through mail, whatsapp and handwritten notes. As an example, I struggled to reach the car rental company so they reached out on my behalve and kept me in the loop. The hotel shuttle service back to the airport, in our case complimentary, was super comfortable and punctual. I do recommend the room we had, 222, with a balcony overseeing the river, Porto and a beautiful bridge. To me that was a great plus.
Excellent hotel, very chic. The staff are so friendly and attentive. The rooms are spacious with very comfy beds. On arrival a nice touch with the first drinks in the mini bar complimentary. Great location on the banks of the Duoro river. Highly recommend and would definitely staff again
Fantastic location and great rooms. Excellent breakfast and nice people. Can highly recommended a stay in this hotel.
Great location, great views, great food, very friendly staff who provided excellent service with every interaction. East access to the caves and anywhere else you want to go in Porto.
We stayed in the riverside junior suite with balcony. The room had a kitchenette but what would have been more helpful was a dresser. There was really no where to put your clothes/suitcase. Enjoyed the breakfast daily, the fact we got one round of mini bar free. Hotel is located in prime walking distance to restaurants and port wine lodges. We used the valet was fine. The cons which for us should have been better for price. Once small elevator for whole hotel and rooftop. The rooftop restaurant service was Incredibly slow, weird menu, and not great small cocktails. It was convenient with a nice view but has so much potential. The MOST disappointing for us was housekeeping. We stayed 4 nights and suspected after day 2 that they were just taking towels off ground and hanging back up. We kept having to call for clean towels and the rooms by the elevator are not great for sleeping. The walls and doors are thin
What an amazing hotel. The view out of our window was magnificent. You are with in walking distance of the main town, but you have the advantage of the area being quiet, so you can sleep like a baby. My husband is a designer & he was blown away but how the furniture and art had been curated. Staff were lovely and breakfast had such great options. We will be back!
This review is for the Spa and Pot & Pan Restaurant only. We had reservations at the tranquility spa and then aromatherapy massages to follow. The staff at the spa was incredible. Margarida made us feel so welcome with cookies and tea - and our two masseuses were so kind, patient and the massages were the best. After our time at the spa, we went to the restaurant and the food was so good. Elevated but still approachable and so filling. We had the steak and cod and both were flavorful. Such a lovely afternoon!
Wonderful and knowledgeable staff. The view looking back across the Douro River at historic Porto and the bridge was amazing both day and night. Hugo and Roger were excellent ambassadors at the front desk.
We loved everything about our stay. The hotel/property is absolutely amazing. The location is on the other side of the river but we enjoyed the walk to the main area in Porto. It was approximately 20 minute walk or a cheap uber ride. It was nice to be away from the hectic area after long days of sightseeing. And you get a beautiful view of centro Porto. Our room was extremely spacious and modern. The rooftop was super cute. Breakfast buffet was so yummy, And every hotel staff we had contact with were just so kind, happy, and genuine. We will only stay here when we return to Porto. Thank you to The Rebello Hotel for the most perfect stay and for celebrating our birthdays. Whatever you are doing, keep it up!!
We loved this hotel! My friend stayed her and told us we needed to book here for our trip…and we are so glad we did. We had the best sleep. Beds were so comfy and it was quiet! It was a little walk or taxi to the main sights but it was definitely worth it for the views and the quiet staying on the Gaia side. The rooftop patio was the icing on the cake! Thanks to all staff who were so lovely and professional.
Well appointed hotel right on the river. Great rooftop bar with one of the best views in the city of the steel bridge
The hotel staff, friendly, helpful. They helped us plan a route to visit all the sites we wanted to see in Porto. They store our bags and then checkout time they put them in our room. When we returned, we just checked in our bags were already there. They have a wonderful turn down service. And the rooftop restaurant and bar has delicious food and cocktails. The view is unparalleled to see old town. You can see the golden hour, which was dazzling. Superb
Very relaxing stay.
Nice wheelchair friendly room. Beautiful view of the Duero river and Porto. Lots of time spent on the terrace enjoying the view with a glass of Port. The hotel put a small ramp on the sliding door so I could easily go on to the terrace. I usually have to ask for this or the hotel doesn't have it. I really appreciated this. The hotel has a lovely rooftop bar area with comfortable couches and chairs and they supply blankets if needed.
Lovely location and hotel. Highly recommend. Some issues: Had top floor room with bar above. Very noise clearing tables at 1am. Mentioned to management after two nights of this. They clearly cared and they acted on it. The offer to change rooms was nice but it’s a real faff once you are unpacked and it was unnecessary if the tidy up operation was quieter. They listened though and the rest of the stay was brilliant. The note with a couple of beers didn’t really make up for losing sleep over two nights but the gesture was there. The other is that breakfast was chaotic. Booked in for specific times but it seems most of the guests were there. Food was great though as were the staff. Only small comments so don’t be put off! We would absolutely stay again.
We were a little disappointed. Everyone was nice and the architecture is amazing. But there are a lot of little quirks and slip ups. For example we had to take 2 elevators or two different sets of stairs to get to our room on the second floor. A huge room with amazing view and brutalist furnishing. We arrived early and room was not ready until after 4pm so a nice man stalled while they finally got the room ready. Then he promised all kinds of comps which were not communicated to anyone else on the staff. We waited 30 minutes for attention on the rooftop. One day we arrived at breakfast to find several parties waiting while they mopped the floors and when we were all finally admitted the floors were wet. We got a letter on check in saying we had a food and beverage credit but like everything else this was available only when we showed the Letter on check out. The place has some great features but they could do so much better.
An outstanding hotel. Room was perfect, spacious and comfortable. All the staff were excellent and the service was impeccable. The breakfast range was extensive and all really tasty. The restaurants were both lovely and the view from the rooftop was a highlight. The spa facilities were superb and the treatments were excellent making for a relaxing experience.
Staff was very friendly. Beautiful view and amazing location. The rooftop view, service and food was great. Definitely recommend it. Love it!
Loved this hotel, no idea why they have an app, questions on it were never answered but staff super helpful when asked! Would visit again
Excellent choice in Porto. Location is perfect, right on the waterfront at the end of the action. View from the room is simply stunning (recommend river view). Staff are friendly and professional. Hotel is super modern with great features and attention to detail that take it to the next level.
Rooftop restaurant was amazing! Brazilian BBQ! Pool was clean and nice. Rooms were large, comfortable, clean amd chic!
I had a wonderful weeklong stay at the Rebello and enjoyed the spa offerings and pool. The location was great as it was close to the water and
Amazing! Good location! Beautiful views
**A truly memorable stay** From the moment we arrived, the service was fabulous — discreet yet exceptional. The food was delicious, and the rooftop bar was a genuine *wow* moment with stunning views. The hotel offered a peaceful, inspiring atmosphere, yet was just a short walk from all the action. Our room was exceptionally large and comfortable, and the team went above and beyond to make a 60th birthday celebration special with thoughtful touches and celebration services. Memorable in every way — we will definitely be back.
Very nice hotel and friendly and helpful staff
The hotel has an amazing view of the bridges over the Douro River and the beautiful city of Porto. The morning sunrise is nothing short of spectacular as the sun rises over the bridge and the city central, simultaneously. The rooms are very clean and the balcony is very spacious. I rated my stay as a 5 with one slight hesitation. The first night of our stay, after a long day of travel, I planned to use the rooftop restaurant for a quick cocktail before retiring for the night. The front desk had made it clear that the rooftop lounge was open till midnight. I arrived at 11:32 PM. Despite other customers sitting on the rooftop deck until midnight, I was only given the option of buying a drink and taking it to my room because they didn’t allow new customers after 11:30 PM Honestly, that makes no sense. I would’ve understood it better if I could not buy anything. Thus, my first impression was I was dealing with a management team that wanted to go home as soon as possible. A terrible early impression that rubbed me extremely wrong, and for the most part, I boycotted rooftop restaurant for my stay. Please know that one the criteria I use to pick a hotel is “does it have a rooftop lounge.” Again, I can’t stress how upset I was. The front desk staff even went up to speak with the roof top manager and was denied. With that said, I could not have been more impressed with the front desk’s cheerfulness, courtesy and the name recognition on the front desk for my wife and me. Further, the morning breakfast team worked incredibly hard to serve and satisfy their morning guests with smiles and efficiency. Overall, “Bravo” to the hotel and it’s staff.
Great location, close to most attractions in the area, walkable within 2 hour; clean and comfortable room. Will definitely recommend it.
The property is beautiful. Our room so so large, beautifully furnished & equipped, with a large, comfortable terrace.
Rebello is a very fresh hotel that is situated right on the river and the rooms and the rooftop allow you to enjoy that view. It really is a 5 star hotel in a world class position. I will return!
The Rebello is a really elegant and relaxing place to stay to enjoy Porto. The view on the Douro river was amazing! The rooms are quiet, clean, modern, well equipped and spacious. The breakfast is amazing. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing moment Porto.
My husband and I have traveled extensively throughout much of the world and where we stay is very important to us. We are always looking for that seeming unicorn - a small luxury hotel, beautifully situated, with historic bones but outfitted with all the modern amenities, attention to detail, high level of service, great food (including breakfast), a perfect place for a sundowner, preferably with a gorgeous view, not in the center of activity but not necessarily in the "middle of nowhere," and a reasonable price point given all of this. There have been a few places in our travels that meet this admittedly ridiculously high standard, and The Rebello is our new addition to this list. Yes, your room might not be ready when you arrive, if you come before check- in time. This is true anywhere, even if you are a VIP customer. This was true for us, but it just meant that we went up to the rooftop restaurant (our first of many visits here) for a delicious late lunch, with the most spectacular view and caring service. (We were served by Iracelma, who also was our breakfast server most of the 4 days we were in residence - she is a gem, with friendliness, helpfulness and a smile that will brighten anyone's day!) We also enjoyed the rooftop restaurant on our last night, for dinner. The food was great (and we are kind of picky) - fresh and tasty. We tried a variety of items and all were of high quality. Our room, a River View Studio, was absolutely perfect. We had a large balcony that offered the same view as the rooftop bar, so we were able to enjoy the scenery morning, afternoon, and night. Our bed was beyond comfortable. The A/C was great, but we actually left the sliding door open a few nights for fresh air, which we prefer if the temperature is right. (Be aware, though, on weekends, there is activity on the water and you might get some partiers having (loud) fun late into the night). Room was squeaky clean. Loved the freebies in the fridge, especially the complimentary bottle of wine (since we booked on Mr. and Mrs. Smith, we also received a second bottle of complimentary wine). The location deserves some discussion. It is across the river from Porto proper, but for anyone is reasonable physical shape, it is not a burdensome walk. A stroll along the waterfront (you will walk by all the famous port houses), across the lower level of the Dom Luis bridge, and you are in Porto! You can also take a funicular, or a taxi, but the walk is great, and good people-watching, too. The hotel booked our (complimentary) airport transfer - again, it all went according to plan, no wrinkles. The car picked us up on time, and we had a comfortable ride to the airport. There are only positives here. And we can't wait to return to our new favorite hotel in our new favorite city!!!
The best view of Porto!
We love traveling and exploring new places - and staying at Rebello in Porto made our anniversary trip extra special. Honestly, it’s one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in. Since it was our wedding anniversary, I asked the hotel to prepare some balloons and a chocolate cake—my wife loved the surprise. On top of that, they upgraded us to a stunning riverfront room that was incredibly romantic. The rooms are spacious, the food is great (we especially loved the pizza), and the overall vibe of the hotel is just perfect. One thoughtful moment: as we were heading out for a long walk, the receptionist overheard us and handed us water and an umbrella—small gestures that left a big impression. To this day, one of our most memorable stays. Truly, an unforgettable experience.
If you're looking for a hotel in Porto, you can stop your search. This place is AMAZING! The staff are incredibly helpful and kind, the rooms are gorgeous, and the spa is a welcome retreat after a long day of hill walking. The fact that the hotel is right across the river from Porto was a plus for us - it's quieter and the view of Porto itself is spectacular. It's a 10-minute walk to Porto. Highly recommend this place. Can't wait to go back.
Beautiful hotel on Duoro river with amazing views of Porto. Definitely will revisit.
This hotel is fabulous. The proximity to Porto is perfect with a the view of the water and the city. Quiet and relaxing, and you can take a cable car a quick walk away to the bridge to the city. We got a 2 bedroom suite with our 2 teenagers, the room was huge with a full kitchen. Complimentary snacks and beverages a treat, and make sure to include the breakfast in your stay - it's wonderful. Swam in the spa pool, had dinner on the rooftop - truly a highlight of the trip.
The room was nice but had to wait until 3:30 to get our room even though they knew we got here at 2pm. The WiFi didn’t work but they fixed quite quickly. The room had tiny windows with no view or outside space and felt like a dungeon. The room was also at the very end of the hotel and was a very long walk to get anywhere. There was only an indoor pool which was very small and you had to book it which was quite annoying. I blame myself for not doing enough research but I would never stay at a place again. Another annoying thing was trying to organise an airport transfer was very hard work. They kept sending me the same message. Breakfast was good and had a nice meal at the rooftop restaurant. The staff seemed nice and it is a nice hotel but whole experience ruined by the room.
We stayed at Rebello as a group of four, including two children, and overall had a wonderful experience. The team was incredibly helpful and responsive, promptly answering our inquiries and assisting with restaurant reservations. The rooms were impeccable—stylish, clean, and thoughtfully designed. There were only two issues we hope the hotel can improve. First, the kids’ pool hours are very limited: only from 7–10 AM and again from 2–5 PM, and reservations must be made in advance. Understandably, on holiday, it’s hard to make the early morning slot as we tend to sleep in. We were only informed about the booking requirement upon check-in, even though it was mentioned in a prior email that we unfortunately missed. Second, while the rooftop is undeniably stunning with breathtaking views, the food was disappointing. We ordered the mussels, which were truly inedible, and a tomato salad that felt uninspired. To their credit, the staff graciously removed the mussels from our bill, which we really appreciated. However, given that Rebello is part of the SLH collection, we expected a higher culinary standard. The rooftop menu is quite limited, and with such an incredible setting, we would have loved to dine there more often. We returned for drinks on another evening, but didn’t feel confident enough in the food to stay for dinner. In summary, it’s a beautifully run property with excellent service and style—just a few tweaks needed to make it exceptional.
I stayed at The Rebello for my first visit to Porto and it was such an incredible experience that they are now intrinsically linked and I can’t imagine coming to Porto and not staying here. The friendly staff, the quiet luxury inspired interior design, the incredible local food and the views are just a small list of what makes this hotel stay a truly luxurious experience. It allows for the best of both worlds by offering a peaceful yet indulgent oasis at the foot of the bustling city.
Best roof top in porto. The view is amazing
I've traveled to over 50 countries and my experience at The Rebello was one of the best. The facilities, service and friendly staff made it an unforgettable experience. It started with the room with a river view and balcony, the rooftop bar with the amazing views, to the great food in the restaurant.
Wonderfully designed hotel within amazing views of the river on both sides of Porto . Great roof top terrace with knock out views, great drinks. We had fabulous 2 bed apartment , fabulously appointed. Breakfast great. Pot and pan restaurant had great food- could do with lower lighting for the evening. Location great for port houses, WOW, and along the river boardwalk so perfect for morning run out to fishing village or into Porto . About 20 min walk into centre of Porto on other side of river. My only minor criticism is that would be nice if the room windows were as clean as the rest of the room so we can see the view from the wonderful window seats !
I stayed here for 5 nights using Hilton points. I booked a studio suite with river view and that was what I received. No upgrade. But several workers told me they were 100% booked on first night so no upgrade makes sense. Why should you stay here? The rooms are large, the view from my room of Porto was wonderful, and you can receive a nice quiet sleep here. Food was of excellent quality at breakfast and dinner. I debated whether to stay on the Porto side or on the Gaia as I did have many activities planned on the Porto side. However, while I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, people thinking of booking this hotel should realize that it will take about 30-40 minutes to walk to the Porto side depending where you want to go or you can use the Uber app. From the time I requested a car to when I was dropped off was also about 30 minutes. So ride share didn't save any time.over walking. Breakfast was typically very crowded especially after 9am. I would suggest you go earlier if you want a quiet breakfast. I went to rooftop bar twice and as other reviewers have mentioned service was inconsistent. The first time I went to the rooftop I was immediately seated and asked what I want to drink. My drink was then quickly brought to me. However, no one came back to ask if I wanted a second drink. The second time I went to the rooftop I was seated quickly but no one came to take my order for 10 minutes. The views are wonderful though.
The location was perfect- off the path just enough to be private and quiet, but only a couple minutes walk from all the action! The hotel itself is gorgeous, stylish and everything was superior quality. The staff were all extremely professional and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The room had an outstanding view of Porto from the balcony. The room also had every amenity one could need. The only thing that took getting used to was all the amenities require advanced reservations, so not all amenities were always available for use, including breakfast, dinner on the rooftop and the pool/spa.
The entire hotel staff provided such exceptional service and knowledgeable recommendations from restaurants to activities in town. Definitely recommend for all Porto travelers!
My partner and I stayed here for our last night in Porto, Portugal as a relaxing spot before heading out early the next morning. Modern hotel with great view of the city of Porto. Rooftop bar had a beautiful view with good drinks and food. The rooms were extremely spacious and modern, but the overall layout of the hotel was moderately confusing and not entirely intuitive. Location wise, the hotel is a bit far for easy walking to the historic center but is very close to all of the Port Houses on the Gaia side. The spa space was beautiful with excellent treatment massage options, however the fact that kids were allowed to be in the spa during the afternoon ruined the ambiance quite a bit for their water wellness area. Checkin and checkout was moderately congested in early afternoon. Some of the little details were overlooked and the hotel forgot to setup an airport transfer for the next morning after confirming they had. Overall this was a great spot to stay for couples or families with a very modern aesthetic, but didn't quite meet a 5 star hotel experience when it came to the details of the stay.
It was an amazing hotel, great location along by the river, ideally placed for visiting the Port houses. Staf were great, really friendly and very helpful in dealing with your requests. Car parking was provided and at arrival we handed our car keys over to be parked and at leaving it was brought out to front of hotel for us. All in all excellent cannot fault it at all.
Amazing hotel!! The location is the best and has unbelievable views. The views from the balcony are almost an image as the balconies are designed to frame the view. Day or night the view is breathtaking. The overall design of the hotel is perfect and if you like the industrial aesthetic this hotel is for you. Lovely big rooms with a sitting area, kitchen and large bathroom, very clean too. The small touches in the room are welcomed, especially after a late night flight. Everything from coffee - water is replenished daily should you wish. The spa is a must and is peaceful and tranquil. We visited as a couple but it would be perfect for families too, as the rooms are spacious and have a kitchen, which is a plus. I look forward to when we can return. Make sure to watch the sun set.
We loved our stay at Rebello. The suite was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean — a welcome respite after a long day exploring the city. The breakfast was amazing! I would definitely stay here again.
It was a great location.. Easy to get to anywhere in Porto, yet away from the crowds. Right near the Port cellars. Staff was very friendly and the rooms were large and view of the river was awesome.
The view was outstanding and the food, both at breakfast and dinner, was quite fresh and well cooked! The staff was very friendly and helpfull. We will be back, for sure!
From the moment we arrived at The Rebello we were treated like VIP guests. Walter on the front desk checked us in and told us about booking in for the Spa and Breakfast. And a lovely young man called Jeremy took us on a Tour of the hotel and showed us around our room. Which was spotlessly clean and air conditioned with huge TV screens and robes/slippers for the Spa. A nice touch is having the fridge stocked with complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks. The bathrooms are so modern with huge sinks, heated towel rails and walk-in rain showers. We needed extra taxis ordered and information about the area and the staff on reception were so helpful. Nothing was too much bother. The rooftop bar has a sensational view of Porto and the Douro river. In fact we did go to The Yeatman for a drink to see their view but found the atmosphere and staff far superior at The Rebello. The breakfast was the highlight for us though. Everything was fresh, cooked to prefection with a huge selection of fruit, cereal, breads, pastries and hot food. The staff are over tending to you with coffee and juice as soon as you sit down and it’s clean and tidy. Served in their “Pot and Pan” restaurant. We made use of the lovely Spa every day of our visit. You just need to book your time as they don’t allow overcrowding. You get a 45 minute slot. The staff here were lovely too. We never ordered room service but we saw waiters bringing coffees up on trays. Everyone speaks English well. We noticed the amount of American visitors in this hotel. No doubt word has spread about its reputation for a relatively new venue. It is the opposite side of the river from Porto centre so you will need to walk across the bridge to get to Porto. But it’s a 5 minute walk to a cable car which costs 7 Euro and takes you to the bridge. Gaia (where the Rebello is situated) seems more upmarket and it’s the historic side near Douro Marina and the many Port making areas. We spent three nights at this hotel for our wedding anniversary. It’s worth it. Denise and David Scott, Northern Ireland.
We had such a great stay at the Rebello with our 2 young kids. I was nervous about the location at first, but our stay more than made up for that. We had an amazing 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite with a river view and it was incredible. The rooms were amazingly darkened with blackout shades and the beds were comfortable. We had a ton of space for our stroller and all our stuff. They provided a comfortable crib for my young toddler. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They helped us park our car and answered any questions we had. The breakfast was included and was delicious- a perfect way to start our busy days in Porto. The location was walkable still to the main part of Porto although a little longer across the bridge. However, we did take the Douro river ferry a few times to shortcut across the river and this worked out great. Would highly highly recommend this place!!!
Outstanding location, professional and friendly staff, comfortable rooms with outstanding views if you overlook the river. Enjoyed the pool and sauna too.
We stayed at this beautifully designed hotel in Porto and were impressed by the breathtaking view over the river, Gaia, and the city itself. The interior design is tasteful and modern, and we appreciated the sense of privacy throughout the property. However, a few details fell short of expectations. Service was friendly but noticeably slow across multiple touchpoints. Additionally, while the room was generally clean, we found some hair from a previous guest – something that should not happen at an SLH-standard hotel. Overall, a solid stay with great potential, but some service and cleanliness issues should be addressed.
Beautiful views of the river. Staff was very keen to detail and my stay was perfect.
Friendly, funky, fabulous location- The Rebello was a delight for a long weekend in Porto. Easy walk over to Porto from Gaia especially after a delicious breakfast or drink from the rooftop bar. Could also relax in the Spa or plunge in the pool after wondering. I can’t imagine staying anywhere more perfect if going to Porto.
I fear The Rebello has spoiled us for other hotels. This place is amazing!! The staff was so genuinely friendly and helpful - even picking up and playing along with our (probably bad) jokes! 😂. Our room with the window seats overlooking the Douro River … honestly, magical. Worth the extra cost! It seems that every detail was thought of. And last I can’t go without mention The Rooftop bar and restaurant. The views are almost too beautiful to describe! They deserve ALLL the stars - and more!
The staff is wonderful and the hotel property is lovely. I would stay again.
We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights to explore Porto. The hotel located in Gaia is a 25min walk to Porto over the Louis bridge but adjacent to all the Port houses. There is a scenic flat walk from the hotel towards the coast and to see bridges up close. The hotel is very modern and new, with a very cool vibe. The rooftop bar is not to be missed … with stunning river views and a welcome chill out after exploring a busy Porto. The pool serenity area is super too … though is busy … and needs to be booked in advance, taking only 8 people in 1 hour slots … which I guess adds to the chill! The rooms are vast and beautifully curated, a delight to return to. Though we found housekeeping and turndown services a bit variable but did not detract from our stay. Breakfast was good and well staffed. The staff were all very attentive. Definitely hope to return.
From check-in to check-out our stay was very nice. They had our reservation booked as desired, gave us a tour upon arrival, and brought us to our room - followed quickly after by our luggage. Our room was the 2-bedroom, and it was perfect for our family with a kitchen and 3 washrooms. Accommodations were comfortable, clean, and in good working order. We added breakfast to our room which was worth it having a four-year-old along for the ride. We also had a wonderful Portuguese dinner at Pot and Pan on the day of our arrival (rated highly on theFork too!). We enjoyed a professional massage at the spa and booked a time at the indoor pool to relax. The location was convenient by walking or car/taxi/uber and the beautiful setting along the Douro River has unmatched views. Service, quality, professionalism, convenience - it checked all the boxes and more.
What spectacular experience this hotel offered. We had a studio with a river front view. This has to be the best possible view of Porto one could hope for. The room design is very slick and well thought out. The staff was excellent. One of the coolest hotels we ever stayed at.
The Rebello is a great location. The staff and rooms are all great! We also enjoyed having lunch at the rooftop bar and restaurant. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. The staff were very helpful with any questions. the spa is also a very nice break from sightseeing.
Would HIGHLY recommend The Rebello for your next stay in Porto, and fun fact: the best place for views of Porto is here at The Rebello, technically in another city but IDEAL for views! The staff was so kind and upgraded our room for free and we had the most incredible views and stay. Clean facilities, super friendly staff & almost-perfect service! Hope to return someday soon!
Outstanding experience! Friendly, efficient , and informative check-in. We were upgraded to a nice river view duplex suite. The hotel arranged reliable transportation from the airport and to our next stop. Finally, the breakfast was excellent. What else can I say, we were very happy with our stay!
Very good stay overall with excellent communication from the hotel prior to arrival. We booked direct and had a transfer from the airport included. When our flight was delayed and then a huge wait at passport the hotel went above and beyond to help rearrange our port tour and tasting at Grahams. We had pre paid to ensure we had a room with a balcony but the rest of the room was to be paid for on departure and this subsequently caused what seemed a big issue to resolve when we checked out which we found not understand. The hotel is in a great location, with stunning views and a terrace which was a reason we booked it. Our room had a great view but we felt could have been better planned. Breakfast every day was delicious with a mixture of buffet and a la carte options. The booking a time slot is something we don’t like on holiday but was required. The spa pool etc were lovely and we used on a rainy afternoon. Whilst we enjoyed our first night dinner on the roof terrace on our last night we tried to go for drinks but felt unwelcome and after waiting for over 10 -15 minutes to order we left. There appeared to be plenty of staff but they were mostly inside and may have been on a shift change over but nonetheless not impressive. This combined with the check out experience took the edge off our stay. This was a pity.
Beautiful hotel with amazing views! The staff, food, location and room were superb. The location is across the river from Porto, but the cellars and a vibrant area are on this side within a short walking distance, highly recommend this hotel!
The Rebello Hotel offers the best of both worlds—close enough to Porto’s vibrant streets yet peacefully secluded. Our river-view room was stunning, only outshined by the rooftop bar’s breathtaking panorama. Thoughtful amenities, including a complimentary Douro Valley wine, made our stay even more special. Plenty of waterfront restaurants in the Vila Nova de Gaia neighborhood are within walking distance, while a quick Uber, scenic stroll, or charming water taxi takes you across the river for more dining, shopping, and historic sites. The true highlight? The incredible staff—warm, welcoming, and dedicated to every detail. With convenient on-site parking and valet service, our stay was effortless. If you seek comfort, convenience, and spectacular views, the Rebello Hotel will not disappoint. And yes, there’s a lovely spa, enough said.
