Wonderful building located on a hill in Getxo, 20 min drive away from central Bilbao. Magnificent interiors. Beautiful views.

With a price tag of almost 800€ incl breakfast in August the spa should have been included. Despite the small number of guests the staff at breakfast seemed to be overwhelmed, the service was poor.

Beautiful stately manor house that looks like a castle with rooms on a wing outside where we stayed. Really helpful front office staff! No ce breakfast on terrace overlooking Getxo harbor. Very scenic!

Restaurant staff disorganized. Took 3 tries to get a coffee on day one. They seemed frazzled and mixing up orders and generally not in sync with the superior service of the staff at reception and those parking the car. Huge disparity between the two experiences. Not befitting leading hotel of the world. Also the rooms are small for the price being paid. Getxo is 20-minutes by cab for 30 euros from town or 8-9 min walk to metro and 30 mins metro ride plus another 10 min walk to Guggenheim and sites of major interest. So not a very convenient option for a couple of night stay focused on Bilbao attractions.

The Americans by the pool on our last day with noisy unmonitored children taking over the pool and sunbeds.

Fabulous hotel, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had the most relaxing two days.

Stunning views and exceptional effort from the staff! Though short-handed, they worked hard to ensure a great stay and kindly gave us complimentary museum tickets to compensate for the initial trouble. The breakfast options were ok, but long waiting time for ordering the specials…

I expected much more from a five-star hotel. It feels more like an all-inclusive resort. You have to compete for sunbeds and outdoor tables at breakfast. The hotel is clearly understaffed, especially in July when it’s fully booked. At breakfast, there were only two staff members serving over 15 tables, and by 10:30 a.m. there were no glasses or plates left. By the pool, only 1 person doing everything (cocktails, food, umbrellas) so it was not enough for everyone. It just felt like a self service hotel. On top of that, the salad I ordered was rotten (which the staff quickly apologized and made up for that). The staff are doing their best, but they simply can’t keep up. The hotel needs to hire more people to deliver the level of service expected from a five-star property.

Ligging/uitzicht

Management personeel, diverse personeels leden spraken alleen Spaans. Ontbijt is voor dit soort hotel (leading of the world) absoluut onder de maat, met schimmel in het fruit, geen verse vleeswaren/kaas. Als je laat bent voor het ontbijt ziet het buffet er niet uit. Lang gewacht op Ceasar salade. Geen water op de kamer bij aankomst. Zo zijn er nog vele kleine dingen te melden die bijelkaar groot worden. Ik wijt veel aan geen goed Management! En waarom verwarmde wc bril in kamer??? Voelt niet fris aan (mijn mening 😀)

Impresionante hotel, en una ubicación perfecta, una gastronomía espectacular y todo el personal super amable y atento, agradecer sobre todo el trato tan cariñoso de Ainara en recepción y de Mercedes en la piscina

Outstanding hotel that justifies it 5 star rating, albeit with prices to match. Good location to stay outside of Bilbao with metro station only 10 minutes walk away. Private on-site open air parking.

We hebben fantastische dagen gehad in het hotel. Heerlijk, uitgebreid ontbijt met extra keuzes. Koel zwembad, wat nodig was met 40 graden.. Aardig en attent personeel.

De menukeuzes bij het zwembad zouden beter kunnen.

Palace Arriluce hotel is a polished gem in easy reach of the gritty city of Bilbao. The welcome, room, ambience and food were superb. We found the staff to be friendly, welcoming, professional and enthusiastically helpful and made sure our brief stay was extremely enjoyable. The bed was blissfully comfortable.

An outstanding hotel that merits its * rating. The staff were extremely attentive and the facilities were excellent from a wide and sunlit terrace with views across the harbour to numerous comfortable seating areas. Rooms are well equipped with comfortable beds and outstanding air conditioning, plus the latest in Japanese style WC’s! Parking is inside the hotel grounds and near the entrance. Access to Bilbao city centre is easy enough with Neguri Metro station only a 15-minute walk from the hotel – services run every 6 or 7 minutes with a 25 minute ride time and low fares. The hotel is in an upmarket residential area and the beach is only 10 minutes walk away.

The breakfast room is a little small and is generally full around 10am but that's a minor issue as there are other areas to eat either on the tearrace or inside.

Beautiful hotel in excellent location, but badly let down by the poor service we received. Check in was speedy and the bell boys were superb, but things went swiftly downhill. When invited to enjoy a welcome drink, we sat on the patio unattended for at least 15 mins. This is a 5 star hotel; I did not expect to go in search of staff. Upon finding 4 youngsters hiding behind the bar, I managed to secure drinks. We chose the hotel for the restaurant and perused the chef’s menu over a drink. We agreed to book the taster menu and wine flight for my birthday and made other reservations accordingly. When I then asked to make a booking, I was told the chef wasn’t there and the meal was unavailable for the entire trip. This is not acceptable. If the menu is not available, it should not have been handed to us. Our plans needed changing and we were not off to the best start. I will continue below….

One day 2 we asked whether we could enjoy hot drinks by the pool (a floor below) but no-one seemed to know. The manageress/deputy said she would ask (didn’t she know this?) and never returned, so we sat and waited next to a dirty breakfast table before ordering tea and coffee. I have evidence of uncleared tables in a 5 star hotel. The terrace canopy was up and we asked for it to be lowered, but no-one knew how to operate it. It would have been funny if it were not 815 euros per night. It proceeded up go up/down noisily. Apologies were made about this, but really?! When we wanted to ‘sign’ we had to go in search of staff but the young lady was unable to operate the iPad which caused further fuss and delay. We felt like we were a nuisance, not your guests. By the pool is a bar. It is not manned and guests have a buzzer to request drinks. We regularly used this but no-one came and eventually I went behind to bar and used the staff phone to call reception to send someone to the bar! The young lady proceeded to clean a glass and splashed water over my designer straw bag! At one point I accidentally knocked over a drink and no-one saw or came to mop it up, leaving me to go in search of staff. We did have a good service once in the bar one evening with nice olives, but otherwise this was most disappointing and led to bickering between me and my husband about whether to ‘say anything’. I have never left a bad review before and take no pleasure in doing so, but this was woefully inadequate for the chain’s mission statement.

Habitación muy amplia y con todo lo imaginable. Servicio perfecto. onas comunes muy cuidadas y tranquilas. Desayuno increíble.

Lo mejor el trato y el esfuerzo en cada detalle. Esto se vio reflejado en el desayuno, limpieza y los servicios como el spa.

Por decir algo, la cena me pareció decente pero quizás no la mejor relación calidad/ precio.

The antique building is impressive, paired with modern and tasteful interiors. the concierge and reception team were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with a stunning view. The mattress is comfortable.

Check-in was slow, and the welcome drink service felt a bit casual and rough for the hotel’s standard. The room looks nice, but some design elements are not practical, and the workmanship is just average. Overall, a good hotel, but better attention to detail would make it feel more refined.
