The August House

Very cute property, kind and responsive staff, and the saunas are a great touch. The room was very clean and comfortable. Love the sound machine. It's also very walkable to everything in town. Fresh orange juice at breakfast, the sourdough from Bedard was amazing.

If I'm being nitpicky, I wish there were more savoury breakfast options. The egg bites were plain and cold; I feel like scrambled eggs would've been better.

The breakfast was delicious and appreciated the little coffee and snack area. It was lovely chatting with other guests, too.

Breakfast was exceptional, tasty and healthy. We liked the welcome messages of this peaceful environment. The quote of Albert Camus resonated with me.

The breakfast tables did not invite for conversations with other guests.

Beautifully presented place - very much the labour of love the owners aspire to. Everything was as they said it would be, and the extra touches made our stay special. A great experience.

We loved our stay at the August House! From the smooth and easy, contactless check-in process, to the room, interior and exterior designs, and sma touches that made our stay wonderful - we could not recommend anything else in Windsor! And the breakfast was spectacular☺️

Light continental breakfast with yogurt, local bread, a protein.

Every corner of the house felt intentional and clearly reflected a purpose. For us it’s the small, thoughtful details that made our stay here truly special—like the incredible aromatherapeutic soaps that instantly elevate your routine into a spa-like experience. Mornings start beautifully with a balanced cup of coffee, locally baked bread paired with rich country butter, and incredible homemade granola topping a cinnamon-sprinkled yogurt.

It was Beautiful!

As a single female traveller, I felt super safe here. I liked being able to self check-in using codes. My room was cute and cozy and the sheets and bedding nice and comfortable. I liked the personalized note they left as well as the granola bars. Shampoo and conditioner in the shower were great to use. I'd definitely stay here again.

This was the quintessential, bed-and-breakfast overnight experience! Everything about this location was done with care and attention in every detail . You could tell that the owners of this beautiful place put a lot of love into every decision they made! And the breakfast was absolutely delicious! The town had a very retro feel to it that was cool.

One possible drawback for some people might be that there is no TV. We however enjoyed the escape from the outside world.

The accommodation were absolutely beautiful, very comfortable, great location and wonderful atmosphere. The August house touched on all the comforts of home and was very detailed. There was so many small things that you tend to overlook when you stay overnight on trips but the August house forgot nothing.

Lovely facility with real character and a very comfortable bed. Also various social areas for breakfast or just socializing were very comfortable.

Your luggage has to be carried up a long set of stairs.

The owners and manager have thought of everything! So well appointed. Love the decor -from the beautiful bedroom to the kettle and dishes. I loved that coffee and tea and snacks were available. It really felt like a home. The breakfast was delicious!

I wish we had a television available- even if in a common area.

The Victorian house was obviously meticulously restored, and decorated with a modern aesthetic. Bed, bedding and bathroom were luxurious. It is a contactless check in, so we never met the owners or any staff.

Beautifully renovated period property. Still with plenty of character but a definite modern clean feel. The little kitchenette on each floor was a real bonus. The breakfast set out as a full continental but with plenty of extras, cold meat, cheese, scrambled eggs etc.Bathroom was clean and modern with nice finishes and the bed super comfortable.

it would have been nice to have more information in the room about the local area, where to eat etc but I know they are working on that! Laura was very helpful and a wonderful host.

The house was lovely - from the moment we walked through the front doors, there was a sense of being home after a long journey. The room and bathroom were very clean - plenty of space for our needs. Although there was only one chair in our room, the two common rooms more than made up for that small inconvenience. We appreciated the fact that before breakfast was served -we could get a cup of coffee from the small kitchen area on the second floor, Our stay ended too soon - we would definitely stay at the August House again - a real gem!

Very thoughtfully renovated property. We stayed in Unit 1 — everything was comfortable and spacious. The exposed structure of the wall in the kitchenette was a beautiful feature and a testament to how the walls were built back in 1850. Breakfast was homemade, and the scrambled eggs were exactly as we make them at home. The private sauna was a wonderful way to relax at the end of the day.

Unbelievably Enchanted! I have never stayed in any inn anywhere in the world that had paid much attention to detail, not just on the surface of being beautiful (which it is), but in every little detail that felt like it was meant to be a sanctuary of inspiration (down to the poetry murals), comfort, and rejuvenation. More like a spa than a place to sleep! Also- awesome breakfast, insumptuous credible hosts. 11 out of 10 stars! Also . . .what is IN that bath gel/shampoo/conditioner?! Cannot wait to return.

This was a wonderful stay. We did find everything 5 star. The one thing was the lack of space to put your items. The king bed took up.most of our space. Once our luggage was stowed on the luggage racks, there was a single small dresser on which to put toiletries, etc. A small first wirld problem, lol.

Highly recommend August House. The rooms in this heritage home are clean and beautiful with a minimalist, pine aesthetic. The breakfast is buffet with local bread, granola, berries, scrambled eggs, etc. The staff are very helpful. There is a sauna and several shared spaces. The rooms have no TV. The bed was very comfortable and the tub was deep.

The inn was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. Having hot drinks and a refrigerator available were very nice. The breakfast was delicious, and it was nice to get to chat with other guests around the large table. Our only complaint was that we had hoped to spend time in the living room in the evening, but the record player didn’t work, the selection of games was scanty, and even if we had found a game to play, the lighting in both the living room and dining room was so dim that it would have been difficult to see to play. These slight deficiencies would be easy to correct, and overall this is a very nice place.

This inn was exceptionally charming with so many thoughtful details - games and puzzles in the common room, Nespresso machine in the room, etc. The breakfast served was above and beyond my expectations...plenty to eat, thoughtful options for those with dietary challenges.

The town of Windsor was very disappointing - very little to offer in the way of nightlife, no above average restaurants, very few shops. Wolfville seemed like it would have been a much better place to stay. Also, no TV in the room - not a deal breaker but seeing as there was so little to do locally, it would have been nice to have been able to watch a movie.

Beautiful rooms with whimsical decor & gardens. Super cute. Good communication from staff via email re:what to expect for check in, as well as a personalized card in room with direct call info if any questions or problems. Very clean and comfy.

Lovely stay. Great breakfast.

Room (#1) was amazing- very large with a sitting area, high ceilings and comfortable bed. Air conditioning worked and parking was easy. There was a personal welcome note with a couple of treats. They even had free icecream sandwiches sticked in the freezer in the common area- who does that?! Breakfast was fine. I can’t think of any negatives- maybe just a note of caution- the toiletries in the bathroom are in glass bottles that can get a little slippery. Yes, I realize how nitpicky that sounds. I wish we had more time to stay and enjoy the August house and the area!

August House is beautiful. The personnel is very welcoming and courteous. We wished we could stay longer.

Incredible guest house with several rooms, many common spaces including a common room with a record player and an amazing selection of vinyl records. Rooms seem recenrly remodeled, very functional, nice bed (soft). There was a community fridge with ice available, and ice pops, as well as nespresso coffee and milks for the morning. Plus, they serve the a full continental breakfast (homemade granola, yogurt, fixings, hardboiled eggs, salami, procuito, cheese, toast, etc, juice coffee) in this large hall. The grounds have lots of places ro sit and a gas fire ring. A great place to stay!

Quaint and lovely heritage home in the heart of Windsor, walking distance to the Main Street. My king bed room (#7) was located near the kitchenette that was well stocked with tea, coffee, milk/oat milk/cream and popsicles in the freezer as a summer treat. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and clean. The bathroom was well appointed and the towels and robes were bright white and fluffy. There was a nightlight in the bathroom that wasn't intrusive but was helpful! The window shades did a fabulous job blocking out the light. Breakfast was delicious! The checkin instructions were clear and accurate and the personalized, hand written note in my room was a wonderful welcome.

If I’m being picky the bathroom light had a yellow cast they made doing my makeup a little challenging for the event I was going to. I had to keep checking it in natural light.

The property was lovely and easy to find. It was quiet. The instructions for gaining access to the building and room were clear. The bathroom was lovely as was the room. When we advised we could not stay for breakfast due to an early departure, the proprietor kindly offered to have staff prepare a smoothie to go. The other staff we encountered was very helpful.

Having the small bar fridge located beside the fireplace took away from the aesthetic. There was no armoire for hanging clothes but there was a rack. In sending pictures of the room to a friend they commented on this. It's not a big deal.

Great stay, clean room, welcoming breakfast

I highly recommend the August house. Each room is unique, but they're all attractively and interestingly decorated. We stayed in room 3, which has a king size bed and a huge bathroom. I particularly liked that there are several quiet lounge areas where you can get coffee or tea and any additional cups or glasses you might need. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and wholesome. There's parking right out front and best of all, the staff is really dedicated to the comfort of the guests.

What a beautiful B&B!! The attention to detail was so thoughtful, the rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! We booked 2 rooms that connected so that our kids could have their own space, but still be close by. It felt like a little apartment and we all really enjoyed our stay. The shared spaces were clean and curated and the staff were so lovely. The spent time chatting with us and gave us some great local recommendations. Highly recommend!

The August House is a gem ! The decor is fabulous and the rooms are well-appointed. The breakfast is lovely, easy parking. Lots of little special touches at this place; too many to list. This is my second stay and I will definitely come back again.

Really comfy boutique hotel with good breakfast, very large, up to date and comfy room with great bed. Good comms on getting in and friendly staff in morning. Windsor is a good base for visiting different things, and the bakery in town is awesome.

Nothing it was all good. Maybe some mats for drinks in the bedroom as I felt nervous about putting coffee cups on beautiful side tables.

Beautiful house with very nicely decorated rooms! Our bed was SO comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. We even enjoyed the sauna (and the bath robes)!

The town itself doesn’t have much to see- but it’s close to other cute towns!

The room was clean and pretty. The breakfast was also amazing with some food choice. My only regret is that I had no time using sauna.

Located in the middle of nowhere.

Room size, amenities, staff cleanliness, breakfast. The town lost power and the co-owner came in to make sure all guest were okay, put out snacks and flashlights. It was our anniversary and the staff sent us a card and nicely done goody basket. Thank you.

This B&B was a beautiful blend of old and new. It was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was exceptional.

The August House is stunning! It’s a great home base for exploring the wineries and other sights in the valley. Several nice restaurants in walking distance, too.

We spent two wonderful nights at August House. Everything from the fire pit with s'mores fixings, the modern immaculate rooms to the delicious breakfast were all perfect. The proprietors were kind and helpful and this place is clearly a labor of love!

Everything inside and out at the August House is exceptional. The owners have poured their hearts, mind ms and souls into making their guests feel very comfortable and special. The aesthetics, functionality, warmth, cleanliness of the private rooms and common spaces (and the saunas) is surpassed only by the service and attentiveness of Melissa, Laura, Colette and Ezra. We slept in comfortable beds, with high quality linens and robes and fully stocked serving stations in and just outside of our family and friends Room 6. Breakfast was fresh and beautifully presented and Mellisa made a special effort to serve a vegan breakfast for our daughter. I really cannot think of a single thing to offer as constructive feedback; it is simply an exceptional place to stay.

If I could give this more stars, I would! Perfect boutique hotel. We wished we could have stayed longer than our 2 nights. Staff went the extra mile on several things for us. Can't thank them enough. Brilliant place!

Perfect place!

Lovely and unique. This inn was the most memorable experience of my short lived time in Windsor, NS. The staff were helpful and polite and even offered a recipe for their baked oatmeal which was to die for. The bed was so comfy I didn’t want to get up. They have plenty of free amenities and snacks. They even give you complementary bath salts for a warm bath in a spacious tub.

It is a beautiful place to stay. Lots of character in the building, furnishing, details, etc. Highly recommend it! The best place we stayed during our 10 day visit across NS.
