The stay was pleasant. However, staff were not very friendly and did not communicate clearly enough. Booking.com states private parking is part of the booking. I called the Barracks direct prior to making the booking to enquire. The answer from the staff member was that private parking is provided. Only to be told on the day, you must extra pay for parking. Further, you don't particularly feel welcome when you made to sign a sheet with a list of rules and penalties if rules are broken. Overall the experience was pleasant but I would not go back.

The building and our room smelled like cannabis even though there are signs everywhere warning of fines for smoking. When we called to complain, the manager said there was nothing they could do to stop the private residents from smoking and that it was passing through the vents into our room.

Very noisy outside, still very late. Also advirtised breakfast included, although the cafe is closed on Sundays. Would have booked a different place if that was communicated to me up front.

I'd have liked a full-length mirror; the walk-in shower spills a lot of water over the bathroom floor; it would be nice to have more hanging space for wet towels

Nel nostro appartamento la doccia nella camera matrimoniale non funzionava bene: probabilmente il miscelatore era rotto e non usciva acqua calda Insistevano che l’acqua usciva ma era fredda e. In hanno risolto il problema Non ci volevanp cambiare gli asciugamani a metà soggiorno (5 notti)

Room was clean,bed was comfortable, I loved the little kitchen with all the appliances one actually needs.The breakfast was amazing the staff at the restaurant that served breakfast to us daily was really pleasant and friendly.The vibe was totally worth it.The location is in the right place close to many food outlets, coffee shops, restaurants, We were walking distance to VnA waterfront about a 30 minute walk,Bo-kaap about 10 min walk, the city sightseeing bus office's about a 10 minute walk. Most importantly it was safe there were security guards along the streets they also helped us alot with the directions.
The shower didn't have a door that closes,so we had water falling all over the place

La rue est bruyante avec de la musique le soir même avec fénêtres fermés. Mais si vous avez vos bouchons d'oreilles, vous dormirez comme des bébés. La température de la douche est capricieuse.

Reviewed Apr 26, 2026Location on Bree Street is perfect walking distance to many awesome restaurants and bars. There is a lot happening in this area. The rooms are modern and equipped well. The kitchenette is well appointed and there is a full size fridge for longer stays. Parking is available for a fee in a secure parking garage of standard height. The bed was comfortable with nice linen. There is a very good restaurant Vixi just across the street - highly recommended.
Some of the staff appeared uninterested and unenthusiastic. There are signs in the building for guests warning that cannabis smoking is not allowed, unfortunately we did smell cannabis a few times and it was coming from the staff areas.

Although the location is great for sightseeing and business, we did feel a little bit unsafe after dark. However, there are security staff patrolling the streets and in front of the property.

I have stayed 3 times before and the rooms were clean and looked fine. The Apartment we used looked OLD - flooring was worn and looked dirty - Toilet when arrived was not flushed which created the impression it had not been cleaned which added to the uncomfotable feeling.
