We didn’t like the property and left to find somewhere more comfortable.

Shelbourne is very run down. The photos do not match the reality. Overall it’s quite dirty, the gardens and pool really need attention and the outdoor furniture is worn and unclean. We got taken to a room with a double bed and when I explained I had booked accommodation with 2 rooms, 1 for my husband and I and the other for my son and mom, there was much confusion. The lady said she would remove the other guests, clean the room we had booked and let us know when it was ready. It was already 4:30pm so we couldn’t wait and had to meet friends. It was while we were out we decided we didn’t feel comfortable going back. In addition, the gardener was walking around aimlessly with a spade and a cigarette hanging from his mouth. The cleaning ladies were talking very loudly on their phones and seemed oblivious to there being guests waiting.

The cleanliness of the place, especially all other places beside the room/bedroom. Bedroom was clean and tidy but the entrance area and facilities surrounding that area were untidy

L’emplacement est parfait car vous êtes du bon côté de Durban. L’établissement est très confortable et propre. Le petit déjeuner également est très bon. Les dames qui s’en occupe sont très serviables.

Le seul problème que nous avons eu c’est avec notre linge qui nous a été rendu encore mouillé et il ne sentait pas bon.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly, we were welcomed with a bottle of water as we were a family of 4 which we also needed😄 and the rooms were nice and clean its really a value for money I could book again and close to the mall

Die Fotos und Beschreibung passen leider nicht zum aktuellem Zustand. Das Objekt sah vor vielen Jahren vielleicht so aus. Die Anlage ist echt abgewrackt. In den Pool habe ich mich nicht getraut, da das Wasser schon grün schimmerte. Im Bad hatten wir eine Kakerlake. Das Zimmer der Kinder war direkt an der Küche, welches nur durch eine einfach verschlossene Schiebetür getrennt war. Das Frühstück war nichts besonderes. Einfach englisch und der Kaffee war dünn und geschmacklos. Am Abreisetag mussten wir das Personal wecken, um etwas Frühstück zu bekommen, welches dann noch eine Enttäuschung war. Die Unterkunft war auch sehr hellhörig und Zigarettenrauch zog in die Zimmer.

I really liked the location and its proximity to many attractions and amenities. The breakfast was enjoyable, and everything in the room worked perfectly, including the air conditioner, TV, shower, and Wi-Fi. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming.

I was disappointed that housekeeping was not done daily. I was also concerned to find a bloodstain on the underside of the bed cover which raised concerns about the cleanliness of the bedding. As a result, I avoided using the bed cover and slept on top of it, using only the small blue fleece blanket instead.

Place is located closer to Malls

There is no lock to the bedroom door.

Easy to find. Not far from the theatre. It was super clean & the water was HOT which was important😅. The views? Took a chance & it was worth it.

The gentleman working there served me burnt breakfast, He never even offered to refresh my room after 3/4 Days stay no new towels. The owner needs better staff. The railing going up can be hazardous

It was a bit tricky to walk through to the beach as it is on the other side of the highway but we took an uber and it was really close

The location was very good, clsoe to the La Lucia mall and other main access roads.

Die Lodge ist toll, es gibt eine wunderschöne Terrasse auf der auch das Frühstück serviert wird, einen Garten und ein Pool. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und sauber. Parkplatz ist vorhanden. Das Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit. La Lucia ist ein wunderbarer grüner Garten. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder!

Blankets are dirty. We asked for them to be changed but it was not The pool was dirty so you can’t even swim, they could not clean it, kept blaming the weather, but it was sunny since we arrived and left

Wow wat een mooie plek is dit! De staff is geweldig. Ze creëren een 'home away from home'. De inrichting van de kamer was heel erg mooi en comfortabel, het was het beste bed tijdens onze reis van 3 weken in Zuid Afrika . We hebben hier ook dinner en ontbijt gehad en er was de mogelijkheid om onze was te laten doen, ook al waren we er maar voor 1 nacht. Echt super fijn!

I had to ask for my bedding to be changed because it didn’t look clean. The smell inside the house was puzzling and unpleasant.

Perfect location in Umhlanga, approximate to all places of interest. I loved the elevated landscape with a functional yard having braai areas, patios with great relaxing views and a pool for those summer days. The Manager provided a feel at home atmosphere trying all she could to make it up for any shortcomings being observed/reported. Always on standby to offer assistance whenever needed.

I am sure the air conditioner has already been attended to by now, it can get quite chilly in the wee hours of the night. Again, Lace curtains can surely benefit the ground floor rooms to obstruct the inside view from other guest manoeuvring the yard.

Beautiful furnishings in a convenient and scenic location. Cleo, the host, was very welcoming and helpful.

Loud noise was common. The apartment we stayed in was connected to the main home/guest lobby by an unlocked door. This meant that noise traveled easily into our room (where our 2 year old daughter was supposed to sleep), with the staff and guests speaking loudly on several occasions early in the morning. The neighbours also have dogs who bark at all hours of the night - which seems to be amplified into the apartment with its poor acoustics. It also feels like part of the apartment is lived in by the owner on some occasions, with several cupboards being filled with personal items and clothes.

Everything met and exceeded my expectations. The staff, owner, food, service, and facility were amazing !!

From the moment I drove up the driveway, I was greeted by a friendly host who could hold a conversation. She was friendly and extremely professional.

The place was clean and it was just like the pictures online. The staff was very friendly. My boyfriend had a car battery problem and the owners did not hesitate to assist us. I have definitely recommended this place to my friends.

the hostess was extremely helpful and friendly, she made us feel so welcome and wanted at the lodge. she stayed up late to check us in as well as open up for us when we got back from our night out. i would go back purely for her great hospitality.

Shelbourne lodge went out their way for us, made a beautiful romantic dinner ! Food was amazing! And the service was wonderful! We love it ! Will surly visit again ! Monkey family came to visit us as well which was very beautiful and cute

The room was clean. Wonderfull staff. Breakfast was excellent on that 1st morning.

Upon arrival the pool was dirty and that was a red flag for us.As this was a family holiday we traveled from jhb and it's was hot. The owner didn't want us to go in our room until we made a full payment and we felt like we being treated like criminals. Aircon was not working in kids room. Following day there was no electricity and we demanded a refund and the owner refused ,so we asked to be moved to a different room even offered to pay a balance for a better room and he refused. In thee end we ended up leaving the premises . They send us a whatsapp saying that they will give is credit for the reminder x4 nights that was left. We were very angry and frustrated 😠

Electricity switched off the almost 3-4 hours generator was an alternative just for lights,in these high summer temperatures we had to try and sleep with no aircon working.Couldn’t even open the window as monkeys are a problem,also try to atleast give each guest a gate remote I struggled to check out at 06:00 beacuse gate was closed and no one had said anything about it and I called no one answered until I luckily bumped into the owner who opened it manually for us.

Very warm welcome from Gugu. She and the rest of the staff were very helpful. Big and comfortable bed and very good aircondition. The lock at the door was a hassle. The place itself is very nice but needs some attention. The outdoor furniture are worn out and need a replacement. Parking ist also not so easy.
