Provider-sourced guest reviews.
It's clean with enough amenities. Comfortable big bed. Hot water all the time, you bath anytime you like. It's such a wonderful place to be. It came to my rescue and comforted me after a horrible experience at African Havens Guest house where I only stayed for one hour then decided to book this one on the same night.
I didn't like that I had to leave.
Very friendly staff. Room was good
Next time please make sure kettles are cleaned proper as there was hair in the kettle. And I was unable to make coffee in the morning
Felt very safe, breakfast was great and the location is central to all amenities I needed.
L'emplacement
A mon arrivée à 20h la chambre n'était pas faite, on m'a donné une autre chambre. L'eau de la douche était soit froide soit chaude, avec très peu de pression. Douche impossible. Pas de café dans la chambre.
Sorry the previous review was not meant for Neighbourgood, I was busy with another property and I didn't notice that I was in this one.
Nothing
The kitchen was the best part, it was exceptionally cleaned and organised. Overall staff were fantastic, helpful, friendly and alway making sure I was okay and happy
Convenient - central location
The shower had black mildew in the grouting. That could easily be cleaned.
Great Location and the breakfast was also great. Very quiet and safe.
Clean and classy
when I choose the room it was including daily breakfast and on booking. Com it shows me 18%off but wen I get there they said no break fast I must add
The bed wasn't comfortable at all I use I side of the bad the whole week
Clean room, comfy
The aircon in my room didn't seem to work. The room was wayy too hot (not sure if this was a centralized aircon) but it made the room feel stuffy at times. Additionally, it was rather unfortunate that there were no Halaal catering options at the facility, I was re-directed to the resturant across the road.
clean, i love the home feel, love the fact that they involve people with disabilities in their staff

I had a wonderful stay at Neighbourgood Newlands from 19–22 August 2026 and can honestly highly recommend it! The room was clean and comfortable, the bed was lovely, and the shower with always-hot water was a real pleasure. I also really appreciated the coffee, tea, kettle and small fridge in the room – these little touches made my stay so much easier and comfortable. The staff were always friendly, welcoming and helpful, which made such a difference. The restaurant was another highlight – the food was excellent and the service was great. A huge plus for me was the safe undercover parking. This is something you cannot always find in Cape Town, where street parking is often the only option, so having secure parking made me feel completely at ease. Thank you to the whole team at Neighbourgood Newlands for making my stay such an enjoyable one. I will definitely book with you again on my next visit to Cape Town and will happily recommend you to my friends and family. Thank you for a lovely stay! I look forward to returning.
No amenities in the bathroom except for bar of soap.
Everything. Now we do not even search for an alternative. We just book at Neighbourgood Newlands without even looking elsewhere.

Localization and staffs
Parking was included. Reception staff very friendly
Tastefully decorated, amazing location.
There was a bit of dust by the big lamp, I found it when I was switching the lamp off. Also the white walls near the room entrance were a bit dirty.
Very welcoming place to stay. Location is excellent and staff are fantastic. Perfect for couple of nights. Lovely restaurant and great coffee! Will be back.
The place was clean. Staff was good and nothing was too much
I i cant say
Location was close to SACAP where I needed to be all week
Our cleaning of the room daily was average.
Quick check-in, confortable bed, very good shower
Having been here in winter, I found the room a bit cold and I was enable to heat it, despite the air conditioning which evedently doesn't work well. Anyway, there was a good duvet 👍
Everything!!

Loved the area
For me it didnt serve the purpose of my stay. I was there specifically for exams and the table inside the room was so small it didnt serve the purpose and during the day there were people working outside on the side of building which disturbed me. I needed a quiet place and less distractions and I didn't get that.
Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Rooms are nice and clean
Location
Lousy coffee at breakfast. And hardly a menu to talk about. On the last evening a security guard knocked on my room door at dinner time and refused to leave. Asking me to accompany him to reception. This hotel bears the notoriety of the worst, humiliating experience I have ever borne in 35 years of global travel. Shameful, unprofessional and unbecoming behaviour. Not sure how staff are trained at Neighbourgood to behave in such a manner.
The service was acceptable. The room was good. The bathroom was clean.
The fitness centre and Restaurant was closed when got there on Sunday afternoon. This was not stated in the portfolio. And the fitness centre was the main reason I booked here. The kettle was cracked and could not boil 1 cup of water without the water running into the electrical parts below.
I like the cleanliness about the entire Hotel
I didn't like the fact that uou don't sell ribs or steaks in your restaurant. But breakfast was realy nice.
This is the best value for money and best location in Cape Town.
I was told my stay did not include breakfast?!
Had i the same teacup the 3 days. I was told it would be replaced.
Location and convenience was great. Enjoyed comort, and uncomplicated vibe. Staff were so friendly, the decor was cool, chic but not fussy .
The room next door to me ( I was 104) was quite noisy -(intereleading room) as in - you can hear everything in the next door room. I wouldnt take that room again.
Everything was great.
The walls are not very soundproof
Second time we've stayed at Neighbourgood Newlands. Check-in was seamless. Rooms are good and clean. Enjoyed our stay.

Always love staying here. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, good value for money
Stylish and well sorted for work travel. Easy parking and good coffee. The staff were excellent!
There were elements of my room that were very “rough” which stood out in an otherwise well designed space. Heavy damage and wear and tear, and nasty cigarette bottle on the balcony. See pics.
I liked everything about this place, the staff is very friendly, they serve healthy and fresh breakfast

I stayed at the Neighbourhood Newlands to attend a conference at the University of Cape Town and do sight seeing in some spare time. I wanted a hotel not far from UCT that was comfortable, provided breakfast and had restaurant options nearby for dinner. The hotel more than satisfied my expectations and was good value. The hotel room was comfortable with a modern bathroom. The cafe associated with the hotel, in addition to providing breakfast, was available for other meals during the day and served good espresso coffee. I felt comfortable, and enjoyed, walking around the neighbourhood in my spare time, including to local restaurants, the shopping mall at Cavendish Square, and Newlands Forest in the foothills of Table Mountain.
There is nothing that I did not like. The Neighbourhood Newlands does not have some services and features offered by fancier and more expensive hotels. But this is not a criticism. The hotel was good value and more than satisfactory for a person looking for comfortable and clean accommodation in a safe part of Cape Town with some picturesque surrounds.
The staff is very friendly. Location is central and safe. Property is well kept. Good value.
Noise in roof at night. Was on the 5th floor. Pillows need replacement.
Always enjoy staying here. Friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms.
The room was quite nice
The room did not have drinking water, coffee, milk or an tea for two days.
Convenient location, lovely onsite restaurant, really accommodating friendly staff. Good value for money. Smart TV 🙌
Fabulous value for money. Parking wasn't an issue. The room was a good size. The bed was very comfortable. The lighting was good. The bathroom was very well appointed. I also liked that the kitchen was open even very late. All in all, I really enjoyed my short stay.
I hate it when I have to log in and enter details to access the telly. I'd much rather I switch it on and choose what I want to watch without any waste of time.
One of my favorite places to stay

Friendly staff. Great location. Fantastic restaurant and coffee shop. Will definitely return.

Good location and comfortable
The toilet smelt like pee from when I arrived and the smell never went away. There’s also a bit of a rate issue outside the hotel itself.
The location is central. The staff were really friendly and super helpful. I also had an amazing tomato soup on one of the evenings!
The rooms are too small. I also didn't enjoy the breakfast.
Value for money, staff are very friendly and helpful, the Boardroom is a great place to work during the day.
Room had a slight moldy smell
Always enjoy staying here. Staff are friendly, rooms are always clean and nicely made up and comfortable. The price was good value for money.
Convenient and comfortable.
Could hear neighbours phone conversations to America at 2am!
Room was nice and clean, very comfortable. Staff are always friendly.
Location and cleanses
Vending machine not working. Couldn’t get a late night snack
Comfortable, good location and delicious breakfast.
Walls are a bit thin and I could hear full conversations of my neighbours.

Always love staying here. Staff are friendly, rooms are always clean and nicely made up. Good value for money. Love it!
Lovely location. Convenience of having a coffee shop / restaurant on site. Staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Great value for money.
I did not like that the breakfast was no longer a buffet and that it took 45minutes to make to fried eggs. I also did not enjoy the staff telling me that I cannot use the wifi during breakfast, multiple times.

Private and secluded. Good place to rest

Comfortable and clean room. Friendly staff. Good value for money. Always like to stay at Neighbourgood Newlands
The staff were very friendly. I loved the facilities like the working space and the communal kitchen.
The communal kitchen is a bit smelly and messy. Sometimes the housekeeping forgot some towels, but it wasn't a train smash. I wish I was allowed to work in the restaurant with my laptop while I was eating my breakfast.
The location and the convenience of everything around it.

Great location…
The location and the level of cleanliness
No meals and the Ac wasn’t working in my room
Everything about the place was excellent 👌
Booking. Com owes a refund! Booking Com overcharged my visa card and hasn't made a refund to me after making several complaints to both Booking .Com and property owners.
Brilliant value for money and vibe. Will be back. Food was delicious. Linen brilliant. Staff absolutely wonderful to deal with - really great.
Only niggle was that breakfast and dinner a bit overpriced - maybe not for Cape Town but relative to the overall value of the experience it was a bit disproportionate. And breakfast only being at 7am is a touch late given the crazy traffic.
