The Newlands Sun is well located. The staff are really friendly, particularly the staff at breakfast. The room is well appointed, and has all the facilities one expects of a good hotel.

There was an industrial noise the entire night emanated from the bathrooms extraction/ac system. It is bloody annoying and kept me awake. There is also a light behind the TV which casts a light across the ceiling - this is in a newly renovated room. One wonders if an hotel takes the time to get a senior staff member to spend a night in each room it may alleviate these issues.

The staff was extremely friendly and engaging. The restaurant and food was good, and they have good coffee in the rooms!

It was extremely noisy. Guests were talking loudly in the corridors and slamming the doors well in to the night. At 23:00 I finally had to put white noise on. The bedding is not particularly cozy - it is quite a thin duvet, with no blanket. Personally, I prefer a cold room with comfy bedding.

This is an excellent 4 star hotel, located in Claremont - which is about a 15 minute drive from the Cape Town CBD. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and recently refurbished. The breakfast section is excellent and there is also a very good Indian restaurant adjacent to the hotel. But what really made the stay special for me were the staff. Hazel on the front desk in particular was the epitome of friendly, knowledgeable assistance. It helped to make for a memorable stay.

This is a lovely hotel, located in Claremont, which is approximately a 15 minute drive to the Cape Town CBD. It seems primarily used by locals and business travellers, but it suited my needs perfectly as I wanted to stay near friends who lived nearby. The rooms are very comfortable and have been recently refurbished. And the hotel itself is a 5 minute walk away from the main Claremont shopping area. The Kirstenbosch gardens are nearby and it’s a mere 20 minute drive to Kalk Bay and the start of the Cape Peninsula. The staff at reception could not have been more helpful. Recommend.

Room Service Shocking!!!!

The Claremont location suited me perfectly, as the purpose of my Cape Town visit was to catch up with friends in the southern suburbs. It would perhaps not have been so suitable if I had been planning a purely sightseeing tour of Cape Town

There was some road noise which didn’t bother me, but noise sensitive visitors may find that a problem

My breakfast was not good - i sent it back uneaten. The bacon smelt off, the poached egg tasteless. I ended up just having coffee. My friends breakfast was fine & he had no complaints.

Location was the best, we came to stay here to have close proximity to the start for the 2 Oceans Race. The hotel an it's staff were incredible. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The runners of the marathon were accomodated fully, they were celebrated and really treated amazingly well. The shuttle transporting supporters and runners was on time, all the time.

The ablution facilities downstairs, especially during peak seasons or events, perhaps traffic could be managed and diverted a lot more efficiently.

Noise - rooms are not sound proof we could hear the people in the room next door . Their conversations and bathroom activities . Room was cold

Great reception although my first engagement was not so good as they wanted full payment upfront for the days I will be there. I had planned to settle my bills on checkout as is usual practice. Had to make arrangements on a weekend to have the money sent to me from Kenya. Anyway I loved my stay there though booked on BB. The drivers were courteous but if on a budget hail cab an avoid using the hotel transport, though they are safer if you are a visitor

The hotel location is excellent for athletes participating in the Two Oceans Ultra marathan and the half marathon.

We arrived after our check in time of 2 pm and had to wait an additional 30 minutes before our room was ready. Dinner available was ONLY the buffet/eat all you like. No athlete eats a buffet the night before an Ultra marathon but there was no alternative dinner available. We had to return to our room and order room service.

I came to Run the Two Oceans ultramarathon and I felt that the staff was just amazing in the way they made us feel

The suite was amazing and comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was tasty. Sufficient toiletries were given. 11am check out as opposed to 10am.

Great location for southern suburbs. The hotel is being refurbished so the room we stayed in, and the lobby and cafe, have all been updated and are in excellent condition.

Due to the refurbishments there was a lot of building noise during the day.

I have stayed here on a good number of visits last year and twice so far in March & April. Most of the time all is good, however my visit end of March was met with my bathroom, namely the toilet being used by someone other than myself & not flushed…. Disgusting, unhygienic & not acceptable … this was raised on the day but did not hear back from the Manager, who I was told would chat to me.

It was good variety/ they have more options to pick from, pastries the usual bed a breakfast but also, healthy options/ Low GI etc.

The hospitality was great. We were offered information on our arrival about the shuttle service to the University of Cape town which was an excellent surprise. A well organised welcoming ceremony was also well executed with medals after running out respective distances.

Everything was excellent and the cherry on top was the hero welcome they gave every Two Oceans marathon participant after their race and how they went the extra mile before the race too by serving breakfast and coffee in the early hours before the race.

One of the best experiences staying in a hotel. Staff exceptional kind and supportive, friendly and warm hearted.

We were running the Two Ocean Marathon with the location of the hotel directly opposite the starting point…. Meaning a couple of more minutes to lay in before 17’000 athletes start the run.

The property was amazing, all staff were so friendly and helpful. Great location for the Two Oceans. Room and beds were super comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay, the hotel really looked after and accommodated all the runners and their families so well

We had an incredible stay here and enjoyed it, if I had to find one fault, it was that it had no pool but I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended
