Reviewed Sep 3, 2026A unique experience in Kruger. The independent cabins are beautiful, comfortable and very well equipped, with a great bed, bathroom and kitchen. Having a BBQ while a hyena was roaming around nearby was an unforgettable experience! The sunrise right in front of the cabin was also amazing. Definitely a very special place and completely different from a traditional safari lodge.
The only downside was the communication before arrival, as our messages were not answered promptly.

Prior to my trip I really struggled to get a response to my request and questions lodged through booking.com, and then also struggled to get a response from the camp itself. The WIFI was not working and although that is understandable, I would have appreciated prior warning.

We konden geen guided safari boeken via de lodge.

Enquanto isso uma refeição pode ser preparada na churrasqueira ou na cozinha de dentro da cabana. Finalizar a noite debaixo de um edredom fofinho, ao som dos grilos e do silêncio é apaixonante. Os funcionários são muito simpáticos e atentos às nossas questões. Toda equipe é sensacional!

We had a very unfortunate incident. When we arrived there was no electricity at the camp. Our neighbour in tent 3 was shouting and ranting since we arrived until after 21:00 that night and this truly spoiled our experience. We did not have water to shower and our back up electricity lamp was faulty. Electricity was only restored after we went to sleep. The staff had their hands full with the upset guy in tent 3 so we just kept quiet for their sale. I would like to get a voucher to stay there again in future. It is understandable that things go wrong in the middle of the bush. The guy in tent 3 swearing and fighting for 6 hours non stop just spoiled it for us! But a beautiful camp and hopefully next time with no issues.

On Booking.com, it advises that you bring your own wood/charcoal for a fire/braai. However, the facility does not allow for any controlled fires, only a gas barbecue. I was very disappointed when I arrived with my wood/charcoal, expecting to sit outside with a warm fire. The information on Booking.com needs to to be corrected.

Suggestion: privacy screens between the tents (don't want to see the neighbours on their veranda.) A note / reminder in the tent for guests to keep their voices down, especially when talking on their phones - sound really travels!

Reviewed May 31, 2026The location is perfect if you want to wake up in the Kruger National Park. We really loved the relaxing atmosphere, especially early in the morning. The tents felt like a luxury hotel experience and couldn't be more perfect for our stay. The staff at the camp were very helpful and friendly. It is the full Kruger experience and we cannot wait to return.
When the picnic spot opens it can get quite busy and noisy, but it didn't affect our stay.

Reviewed May 24, 2026I cannot begin to describe how unbelievably amazing and perfect Nkuhlu Tented Camp within Kruger Park is. The tents are so beautiful, you feel like you are in a luxury hotel room, there is EVERYTHING you need and the incredible staff prepares everything beautifully. I have been to Kruger before and will come back again and one thing is for sure: I will ALWAYS stay at this accomodation, there is nothing that could match this. I want to give a very special shoutout to our ranger on our first night, Aubrey, for taking such amazing care of us and the other residents during the nighttime and even taking us on a short walk outside the camping area and keeping all of us safe and informed about the wildlife. All the rangers and the staff make you feel safe, welcome and at home at all times. It is truly magical. We are very grateful to have stayed here.
The ONLY downside I see is that there you cannot book any nightdrives from the accomodation, as all of those start and end at one of the other SANPark camps. But as mentioned, Aubrey for example took us on a short walk and showed us hidden areas.

Nicht gefallen ist falsch gesagt ...einfach in der Küche könnte etwas mehr Utensilien haben und es hat kein Toaster, was oft in SA braucht .

Wifi was great, worked all the time and at very good speeds considering the remoteness of the accommodation. Location is excellent. There are only 7 tents, so it's very peaceful compared to the standard camps. Will definitely return.
There isn't anything that comes to mind that I didn't like, everything was excellent.

Reviewed Mar 30, 2026This is absolutely a wonderful place to stay inside the Kruger National Park. It is expensive but worth the while. As it is unfenced you really feel special. They also have an armed guard and he will inform the guests if they spot something during the night. During our stay they arranged for a star gazing walk.

We were not able to leave or walk around without a staff escort after 18:30, and not allowed to step out of our tent after 21:30 hrs. Understandable but also inconvenient.

Staff was very kind, even the first night that there had been a very strong storm and they came out in the rain to make sure our tents were not getting wet. We experienced a full moon on the river, with stars and hippos in the background playing. Everything was magical, highly recommended.
