Accommodation was comfortable and centrally located. Staff were very helpful, and allowed us a late check out prior to our late night flight. It was peaceful inside the rooms and the old building is beautiful.

Precioso hotel situado miy cerca del faro. Limpio y tranquilo. Empleados y desayuno estupendos. La encargada es una gran profesional. Muy educada y te ayuda en todo. Alojamiento totalmente recomendable

La ubicación es excelente, en pleno centro del fort de Galle. Muchos restaurante y tiendas alrededor. Un supermercado Cargill justo al lado. Tiene mucho encanto el ambiente colonial del hotel. La habitación doble deluxe era muy bonita, bien equipada e impoluta en cuanto a limpieza. Tenía nevera. Respecto a otros hoteles, había bastante opacidad de cara a la luz que entraba al amanecer, cosa que se agradece.

Sería excelente que pensaran en poner corona o mampara en la ducha, como en el resto del país. La habitación no tiene televisor. El desayuno lo sirven por grupo, no individual.

It is recently rennovated hotel in Fort area of Galle and the location is in very good place. House and environment is good, staff are friendly and supportive. Coming to the facilities, the basic drinking water they are giving in glass bottles and bleached so it is not that much convenient to drink.

Bath towels are perfumed too much but they are giving too much stinky smell while using. There is no exhaust or vent in bathroom area and smell is very bad. Water can be packaged water instead of bleached normal water. These small aspects leaving the big impression down

The location is excellent. The place is fresh and tastefully decorated. Plus the staff are outstanding. Great value and so pleased we found it.

The amenities in the room were a bit sparse, e.g. we had 3 teabags and sugar but no coffee or creamer. Quite expensive too

Hidden gem in the Galle fort. Amidst busy street this was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the ramparts and the sunset.

Selon ma réservation nous avions 10%de remise au restaurant de l’hôtel mais … il n’y a pas de restaurant !

The hotel's location was exactly what we needed, as we planned to walk around Galle Fort and cover as much as possible in one weekend. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and communicated well. The hotel itself is very nice, clean, and aesthetic, and the rooms and bathrooms were good. The hotel upgraded us from a Queen Room to one with a bathtub, which was a nice touch! Once you step out of the hotel and take a left, there's the Dumpling Cafe that was on our checklist, and when you take a right, there's an express Cargills, and you are very close to the Rampart Walk to catch an amazing sunset. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at The Fort House.

Strange behaviour of the Staff Before we went out for evening, we were given hotel keys to unlock and then lock the door, very strange! M vacation, come on For breakfast very limited options No catchup/any sauce available with bread omelette, 😱 OMG

Beautifully decorated, very welcoming and breakfast was plentiful and delicious each morning. Husna is a perfect host and very helpful and knowledgeable.

Our stay at The Fort House was amazing! The property is charming, beautiful and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and courteous. They let us check in early which was a boon after a red eye flight and arranged for a cake for my husband’s birthday which was extremely sweet! The breakfast was lovely too. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Everything was great

Situated right in the middle of the old forte. Easy access to restaurants and shopping. Helpful and friendly staff. Had dinner and cocktails @ Charlie’s Bar and Bistro which was amazing- roof top (prawn curry). Also highly recommend Luuma Restaurant which was approx 5km tuktuk from the old forte situated right on the beach with also amazing food and cocktails (grilled whole fish). We loved our 2 nights in Galle.

Situated inside the old Fort surrounded by many bars and restaurants.

No pool, but we knew before booking so a short stroll to the beach for a swim to cool off is required. Power outage on day of departure made it a bit uncomfortable with no AC or running water but staff made effort to offer alternative shower / toilet facilities.

Fort house is in the middle of everything happening in Galle Fort. The staff were beautiful and the breakfast was amazing.

We had a very comfortable night's sleep in a very old (500 years) building that has plenty of character. The room is tastefully decorated and clean. We where downstairs. The staff are polite and more that happy to help. We paid for breakfast which was very nice. It was Sri Lankan and very generous in serving size. Close to plenty of places to eat it is definately worth looking at for your stay in Galle. Would I stay again Yes

Wonderful people, friendly and welcoming, excellent service, sensational food, a beautiful building, big comfortable, clean rooms, a fantastic location inside the fort with easy access to all areas. We stayed as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 14. a 2 night stay including breakfast. The whole family loved it.

Nice historic property in the heart of Galle.

Charged an additional 3% fee for card payment (not credit - but Visa Debit which does not carry the same bank interchange fees as credit). This was the only place in all of Sri Lanka (and everyone else we have travelled) that imposed such a charge.

The location and facilities were just perfect. Loved the overall ambience and the service.

This hotel is in old Fort in a colknial style building. Beautiful large room and staff so helpful. We only stayed one night but would happily stay here again. it is so charming.

Die Lage ist top und die Unterkunft ganz gemütlich. Leider sind sehr viele Moskitos in den Zimmern, da die Fenster und Türen kleine Spalte haben. Wir haben glücklicherweise ein kostenfreies Update erhalten und somit ein Zimmer mit Moskitonetz gehabt, welches Gold wert war. Zum Frühstück gab es ein leckeres klassisches Sri Lanka Frühstück.

Beim Bezahlen gab es leider eine Unstimmigkeit und man wollte auf unseren Bookingpreis 3% für Kartenzahlung berechnen. Dies wurde uns vorher nirgendwo mitgeteilt. Nach einer kleinen Diskussion wurde jedoch davon abgesehen. Das Zimmer schien auf den ersten Blick sauber. Beim genauen hinschauen waren die Kopfkissen und das Bettlacken dreckig. Nachdem wir dies reklamiert haben, wurde das Bett neu bezogen, jedoch hatten die neuen Bezüge ebenfalls Flecken.

Clean and stylus design, very comfortable bed with functioning mosquito net. Excellent central location to get around Galle and local shop with pharmacy just next door. Breakfast was some of the best we had in Sri Lanka.

es ist ein sehr stilvolles Haus mit sehr freundlichem und hilfsbereitem Personal. Zum Frühstück gibt es jeden Tag eine lokale Kostprobe mit liebevoller Erläuterung. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber, mit Tea-making facilities und einem kleinen Kühlschrank. Die Lage ist sehr zentral und optimal für viele Aktivitäten.

This property has it all, lovely helpful staff who make you feel at home, brilliant location within the walls of the old fort, exceptional breakfast, and comfortable beds and bathrooms. It’s a small, personable guesthouse that also offers a street front cafe for passersby so you can drop back ‘home’ any time for refreshments and a comfortable place to rest.

The location was excellent. It was a small. charming guesthouse type place converted from an old colonial house. No restaurant but a nice breakfast. The rooms were nice and bathrooms big. The staff were able to arrange a driver to take us to Negombo at a reasonable price and a tuk tuk to Turtle Beach.

Many of the staff had limited English. We tried to change a 5,000 rupee note for a tuk tuk driver but there was no cash box/cashier facility.

We loved the location near Flag Rock Bastion and the lighthouse. It was a calm neighborhood. It's very quiet, no noise, not even from the AC unit outside. You can do yoga on the first-floor sitting area. The breakfast was copious. The entire property was super clean. The staff was super friendly and did their best to fulfill our requests. Mr Fayas was particularly helpful and friendly. We were very pleased that this guesthouse was built in a historic building.

This nine-room guest house is just 3 years old, as of 2026 Januar, so it is still working out minor issues. It is already close to perfection. Our room would have been more comfortable with a 2nd chair and a suitcase stand/table.

Location and vibe of the property was great. Room was a little tight for 3 people. Staff was super friendly and helpfull and always available.

Room could be a bit bigger. There can be some provision for Mosquitos as they got in if we missed closing the door. Some staff help post 9.30 would be great too.

Excellent location right in the heart of Galle Fort. Everywhere we wanted to see and visit (restaurants, shops, attractions) was easily walkable from the property.

Please be aware that the accommodation is very basic and a bit tired for the price. There are no tissues, slippers/sliders, amenity kits, robes, etc provided - you will need to bring everything yourself (although there is hand soap and shower gel). Towels were old and tired - not suitable for paying guests. The breakfast is also very average for the price. The main highlight of the stay is that the bed was very comfortable, there was air conditioning in the room (a god send in the heat) and the staff were very attentive and caring.

The staff were amazing and really friendly. The location is great to explore Galle fort. The rooms were a good size as well.

The first room we were in didn’t have a ceiling fan, so it meant we either had to have the A/C on for most of the night which wasn’t the most comfortable. I appreciate that the breakfast set up is a lean operation but the western option really wasn’t great unfortunately.

I really wanted an old style villa stay in Galle and wasn't disappointed by boutique The Fort House. Beautifully renovated with a light courtyard inside & verandahs around. Rooms are up stairs. The room was cosy with period furnishings. Level walking to everything in the old town. Breakfast was delicious.
