A positively exquisite stay in a charming boutique hotel. We wished we could have stayed longer as the location inside the fort surrounded by restaurants and historical buildings was superb.

The bungalow was really lovely, the room were very nice, clean and it was a very relaxing time. The bathroom was spacious and had really cool taps. Breakfast was also very good.

The room could have used a bench to place my suitcase on.

Staff are not always there, specially if you need something at night. Breakfast is limited. Towels are old and rough. Wish there was a duvet instead of just a sheet for a cover.

As they do not have a kitchen of their own you have to decide int he precise time you want breakfast for your whole group. As we were a bit jet lagged, some of us woke up earlier than expected and although other people were having their breakfast, i had to wait over an hour to be able to have anything which was frustrating. This is because i think the breakfast is delivered at the time you chose.

We loved our two-night stay at this hotel. Tashma was incredible attentive and ever-present in the entrance hall and tried her utmost whenever we had the slightest wish. The breakfast was lovely and the rooms very comfortable - the mosquito net gave extra protection and the air conditioning and fan were excellent. The location is fantastic, in the heart of Galle Fort, yet it was very quiet here and we slept soundly. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Thank you!

I am writing this review two months after my stay, and I still look back on this place with such fond memories. It was truly a wonderful experience, and I feel grateful to have stayed here. The staff were absolutely amazing, especially Tashmi and the entire team. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable, welcomed, and cared for throughout our stay. All the boys working there were incredibly kind, helpful, and accommodating, which made the experience even more special. The Sri Lankan breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay the food was delicious, authentic, and truly memorable. The place itself had such a nostalgic charm, with its beautiful atmosphere and its convenient location close to the fort. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and absolutely worth the price. I would happily recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm, authentic, and memorable experience.

Galle had no power for one of the days. They did let us know about this in advance and were very apologetic about it

Abbiamo soggiornato in questo hotel con la nostra famiglia di quattro persone, insieme ai nostri due bambini di 8 anni, e ci siamo trovati bene. La posizione è davvero ottima: l'hotel si trova all'interno delle mura della splendida cittadina di Galle, permettendo di raggiungere in pochi minuti a piedi il faro e il lungomare, da cui si può ammirare uno splendido tramonto sul mare. La nostra camera era ampia e confortevole. I bambini hanno dormito sul soppalco, una soluzione che hanno trovato molto divertente, anche se la scala di accesso è piuttosto ripida e richiede un po' di attenzione. La colazione, in perfetto stile srilankese, era davvero molto abbondante e ricca di proposte locali. Purtroppo, a causa dei nostri tempi di viaggio, non abbiamo potuto gustarla con la calma che avrebbe meritato. Abbiamo apprezzato molto anche il grazioso cortile interno, sul quale si affacciano le camere: un angolo tranquillo e rilassante che contribuisce a creare un'atmosfera accogliente e piacevole. Consigliamo questa struttura a chi desidera visitare Galle soggiornando in una posizione strategica, in un ambiente caratteristico e ospitale.

L'unico aspetto migliorabile riguarda il bagno: sul soffitto, molto alto, era presente muffa che lasciava un leggero odore di umidità nell'ambiente. Si tratta di un dettaglio che, se risolto, renderebbe il soggiorno ancora più piacevole.

What a brilliant stay. The beds were extremely comfortable, the showers nice and warm, air conditioning cold and the wifi worked really well. The breakfast was traditional Sri Lankan, and the lovely lady serving us explained the different foods and how to eat it overall was a really lovely stay. The location is fantastic as well you can walk all around the forte very easily.

La struttura è molto bella, pulita e le camere sono grandi e dotate di ogni comfort. Colazione abbondante e buona. Posizione ottima. Una nota speciale a Tashmi, la ragazza dolcissima all’accoglienza che ci ha fatte sentire a casa. Molto premurosa e gentile.

One big issue is that there is no proper window in the bathroom, only a wooden one with multiple holes. This meant noise transported easily in and out of the room

When we arrived they told us there was a problem and we would need to go to a different location. The sheets were damp and smelt !

Great accommodation in the centre. Cute courtyard. Large room with all the right amenities. Breakfast was local, cultural and delicious. Kids loved it (12,10).

The staff and service was incredible and really made our stay. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, even arranging transport to our next accommodation. The building is beautiful and located in such a great spot, walking distance to everything in Galle fort. The breakfast was very yummy and more than enough food.

What a lovely oasis to start and finish our 3 week holiday in Srilanka! Isha made us feel very welcome. The hotel has just 6 rooms with lovely garden and pool overlooking the lagoon. The rooms are very clean with a great shower in the bathroom. You can just lie in the pool and watch the fish jumping, the herons nesting and listen to the birds overhead. Bliss! We had 2 great evening meals as well as breakfast, as good as any of the restaurants we ate at and better than some! You can arrange boat trips and tuk Tuks to get out and about very easily but we just enjoyed the opportunity to chill. Isha arranged our pick-up from the airport, it's only a 30 minute trip, Ranga our driver kindly helped us with all our transport so our trip went very smoothly with no worries. It was market day in Negombo when we arrived and it was frantic but as we pulled in to the hotel that all disappeared as we looked out over the calm lagoon.We hope to come back some day and would not hesitate to book again. Amazing value.

My stay at Dutch Bungalow was spectacular. All of the staff were kind, super hospitable and welcoming, and made me feel like a queen. The breakfasts on both days were beautiful and the room itself was very comfortable. Thanking you for a wonderful stay and I highly recommend :)

There was no atmosphere (possibly partly because of the war and cancellations) and compared to the 10 other places we’ve stayed on this trip it didn’t feel like good value. We stayed 2 nights and they asked if we needed the room cleaned - we said ok not to clean room but could the bathroom bin be emptied and this wasn’t done plus a couple of other requests didn’t happen.

Beautiful property in the heart of the Fort. Very quiet and tranquil. Everything within walking distance. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Thanks to Tashmi and her colleagues. Beds are comfortable and rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was excellent. Delicious blend of local and intercontinental foods served right in front of your room in the garden.

AC could have been cooler, but they also have a ceiling fan so it did not get too hot at night.

The room was beautiful and impeccably clean, and the shower was hot with excellent water pressure. The staff were absolutely wonderful—warm, attentive, and welcoming throughout our stay. Everything about the property was 5* for my first night. A wonderful welcome and my room was stunning and very clean and comfortable.

On my second night, after advising I thought there was a rat in my room on the 1st day on my stay, I then found said rat under my pillow at 2am. A sleepless night followed and rat was caught the next day. It was pretty traumatic actually putting the pillow to find the rat under my pillow. It hurts me to write a negative review as everything was great until meeting the rat, but I don’t think the property’s reaction to me finding a rat in my bed was satisfactory. They just caught it and said it was all ok. I tried to at least change rooms but was told it was full, which I am unsure it was as I didn’t see many other guests. I had even said I had seen a rat day before and I’m not sure they believed me.

Perfecte locatie om Galle te ontdekken! Een oud koloniaal huis dat mooi is gerestaureerd. De airco hadden we echt nodig. Heerlijk bed en de binnentuin, waar je ontbijt op je eigen tafel krijgt ademde een en al historie. Direct naast The Bungalow: een goed restaurant!
