This is my 2nd stay at Breathe, and it is a complete gem of a boutique hotel. Close to center, wonderfully appointed, clean, and fantastic staff. Junior Canal Suite has small kitchen with microwave and fridge, and the Albert Heijn is around the corner so you can buy a few things if you want to have snacks or light meals without having to eat out all the time. Bonus points for great hot water and pressure.

Das Personal war immer hilfsbereit und freundlich! Die Lage an der Gracht in der historischen Altstadt ist sehr schön und ruhig. Die Bushaltestelle ist zu Fuß gut erreichbar. Das Zimmer ist mit einer Küchenzeile ausgestattet. Mikrowelle, Kaffeemaschine, Wasserkocher, Geschirr etc. sind im Zimmer verfügbar.

Das Frühstück konnte man sich von einem Buffet auf einem Tablett ins Zimmer holen. Wenn man wegen jeder Tasse Kaffee vom ersten Stock ins Erdgeschoss laufen muss, ist das etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Offiziell wird das Frühstück erst ab 8.30 Uhr angeboten. Wegen beruflicher Aufgaben musste ich am Morgen jedoch früher starten, so dass ich mir bereits auf Anfrage ab 7.30 Uhr das Frühstück besorgen konnte, allerdings nur mit Brotscheiben und ohne Croissants oder Brötchen.

Das Hotel liegt sehr schön an einer Gracht. Die nächsten Bushaltestellen sind in 5-10 Minuten erreichbar. Unser Zimmer war recht groß und ordentlich möbliert. Sehr angenehm war, dass man sich rund um die Uhr bei Kaffee und Wasser bedienen konnte.

Das Frühstück war sehr einfach. Es gab hauptsächlich Fertigprodukte. Wir fanden es unpraktisch, alles in den 2. Stock zu schleppen und auf dem Zimmer zu frühstücken. Die Leihfahrräder waren leider defekt.

Er wordt wel een ontbijt aangeboden echter je moet ophalen en het op de kamer opeten er is geen ontbijt ruimte Op de kamer zit je dan naast elkaar met maar 1 stoel en een krukje aan een plank Ook werd het ontbijt niet adequaat aangevuld, een van ons had geen croissant en het brood was ook niet helemaal vers, als je geen boter gebruikt waren het ronduit droge supermarkt boterhammen dus prijs kwaliteit was hierin ver te zoeken Mijn advies: geen ontbijt bij boeken en 10 minuten lopen naar de jachthaven waar ze een goed ontbijt serveren en op zondag ook een ontbijt buffet

De lokatie was perfect, lekker op loopafstand van het bruizende centrum

Ik had zelf niet gekozen voor melkglas van de badkamer, hierdoor de kamer/ studio niet goed donker te krijgen voor de nacht

Leider waren wir von unserem Aufenthalt im Breathe Hotel Leiden enttäuscht. Für zwei Nächte haben wir rund 360 € bezahlt – aus unserer Sicht ist dieses Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht angemessen, und auch den 4-Sterne-Standard können wir leider nicht nachvollziehen. Das Zimmer war sehr klein und hatte kaum Ablageflächen. Im Schrank muffelte es, und auch das Zimmer selbst roch nicht besonders angenehm. Nur eines der Fenster ließ sich öffnen, und auch dieses lediglich kippen. Das Hotel hat keinen Aufzug und die Treppen sind sehr steil, was insbesondere mit Gepäck unpraktisch ist. Auch das Badezimmer war wenig komfortabel: Es gab kaum Möglichkeiten, Handtücher oder persönliche Dinge abzulegen, keine Ablagefläche in der Dusche und der Wasserdruck war sehr niedrig. Enttäuschend war auch die Frühstückssituation. Das Frühstück muss mit ins Zimmer genommen werden, dort gibt es allerdings weder einen richtigen Tisch noch ausreichend Sitzmöglichkeiten – lediglich einen Stuhl und einen Fußhocker. Als Tisch dient ein Regal unter dem Fernseher. Auch das Besteck war teilweise mangelhaft: Die Messer waren so stumpf, dass man damit nicht einmal ein Brötchen vernünftig schneiden konnte. Internet und Fernsehen über Chromecast funktionierten während unseres Aufenthalts ebenfalls nicht. Uns wurde angeboten, das Problem am Abreisetag zu lösen – für uns leider zu spät. Zusätzlich mussten wir neue Handtücher aktiv anfragen, obwohl wir das Schild „Zimmer muss nicht gemacht werden“ nicht herausgehängt hatten. Hier hätten wir einen automatischen Wechsel bzw. eine entsprechende Zimmerreinigung erwartet. Insgesamt stimmt für uns das Gesamtpaket aus Ausstattung, Komfort, Service und Preis nicht. Wir sind enttäuscht, würden das Hotel nicht erneut buchen und können es leider auch nicht weiterempfehlen.

Het feit dat er geen plek is om te ontbijten. Je moet in een hoekje aan de receptie je ontbijt uit het buffet samenstellen en meenemen naar je kamer en dat is niet evident als je op de 2 de verdieping logeert.

Lovely hotel. Styled really nicely so felt very premium. Spotlessly clean, almost as if it were a brand new room - they had cleaned everything thoroughly. Plenty of space for luggage, relaxing etc. Filtered water, teas and coffees provided. Spacious shower with nice warm water and good pressure. Comfortable bed and pillows. We did not make much use of the kitchenette as we were only there for two nights, but it would be extremely handy, especially the fridge if you wanted to buy something which needed refrigerating. Friendly and helpful reception staff, who explained everything well. The location was great for exploring Leiden centre, the historic sites, museums, shops etc. And It has a beautiful atmosphere, right on the canal with lovely residential streets nearby. It is a little walk from the train station, around 20 minutes, and the pavements are all brick so it's not the best for suitcases - we managed it fine though, but depending on mobility and luggage you might consider getting the bus or a taxi. We have a friend who is from Leiden so we may well be back in the future, and if so we will 100% book this hotel again as it was pretty much perfect!

The water splashed out of the shower quite a lot, leaving the floor towel very wet. It might be good to provide two floor towels by default so we can alternate without having to request room servicing for a fresh one.

Staying in a historic building while enjoying a modern, chic, cozy, comfortable and spacious room with a view of the canal. Clean and felt new. Tastefully decorated. The well equipped and stocked kitchenette was an added bonus.

Perfect location and friendly helpful staff. Clean and comfortable bedrooms with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Reception has a water and sparkling water machine and during the day hot drinks machine. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Lovely room, comfy bed, air con which worked incredibly well and easy to operate, small kitchenette in the room, with fridge and minibar, streaming tv. Everything worked perfectly. Staff were lovely and helpful. Motivational toiletries with slogans like ‘you rock!’ were a lovely touch. Great location - bear things but completely quiet - easy to get a good nights sleep.

Pillows were slightly too big! Only had breakfast on last day, it was fine but not great value for what it was.

Das Hotel ist ruhig an einer Gracht gelegen, Restaurants und Geschäfte in ca. 10 Gehminuten erreichbar. Das Zimmer war gemütlich, Zimmer und Bad sehr sauber. Im Bad fehlen allerdings Haken bzw. Trockenmöglichkeiten für die benutzten Handtücher. Das Frühstück im Zimmer einzunehmen ist durchaus machbar. Das Frühstücksbuffet im Rezeptionsbereich ist okay, jedoch die Auswahl und angebotene Menge an Aufschnitt sehr eintönig und dürftig. Das Gleiche gilt für die nur eine angebotene Käsesorte. Im Ganzen ist man für einen Städteaufenthalt hier gut untergebracht.

Het bed ligt fantastisch, flexibel in spullen bewaren zodat we later konden inchecken met een digitale key.

Douche is niet heel groot. Geen eigen parkeerplaats dus kosten van dagkaart €35 komt op eigen rekening erbij.

Gorgeous building and rooms at a great location

Could have scored a perfect score, wasn’t it for the fact that - as many hotels do unfortunately- charge a silly amount of money for a very limited breakfast. Instantly made us feel like cash cows. Shame really, such a nice hotel.

De keycard werkte niet toen ik even in mijn badjas naar buiten de kamer ging om een kop koffie te halen van de automaat in de lobby. Dit schijnt een bekend issue te zijn. Het hotel heeft hiervoor een noodoplossing in het leven geroepen, nl. het bedienen van de deur via een app op de mobiel. Moet je alleen je mobiel niet op je kamer hebben laten liggen… Gelukkig was er ook een noodnummer om te bellen. Moet je alleen niet je mobiel op de kamer laten liggen… Gelukkig was een andere hotelgast zo vriendelijk om me zijn mobiel te lenen. Toen was het snel opgelost. Ik kon m’n kamer weer in om te genieten van een heerlijke late latte

Et flott, idyllisk hotell med et fantastisk personale. Romslige rom, gode senger og stille om natten. Virkelig å anbefale. Leiden er lille Amsterdam, med en utrolig god atmosfære.

De locatie was top!

Onze kamer bevond zich op gelijkvloers waardoor we super veel lawaai hadden en niet konden uitslapen. Ook wel vreemd dat de receptioniste geen Nederlands kon.

Dank der extrem freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Mitarbeiterin konnten wir beim einchecken kostenlos ein anderes, adäquates Zimmer bekommen, um zumindest bequem am Tisch frühstücken zu können. Ansonsten sind die Lage und das Zimmer top!

Allerdings war das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis beim extra zubuchbaren Frühstück (ca. 20 €) unterirdisch. Es gibt überhaupt keinen Frühstücksraum. Man muss alle Dinge selber aufs Zimmer schleppen, in einem Hotel ohne Fahrstuhl kann das auch schon mal die 2. Etage sein! Brötchen gab es gar nicht, Croissants waren abgezählt und nach unserer Einschätzung wurde auch bei den einfachen Wurst- uns Käsescheiben absolut nichts automatisch nachgelegt! Unser original Zimmer über Booking.com hatte gar keinen Tisch gehabt, um zu zweit bequem frühstücken zu können (merkten wir an und bekamen kostenlos ein - teures! - Zimmer) Fazit: bucht bloß kein Frühstück und sucht euch im Ort was Vernünftiges!

Hotel ligt rustig en toch centraal. Heel fijn bed (Auping) met heerlijke kussens. Keukentje ideaal, zodat we zelf (vegan) ontbijt konden maken. Vriendelijk en attent personeel. Geparkeerd in nabijgelegen garage, dat bleek toch beste optie (die bij het station lijkt op Google gratis, maar is voor een dagkaart net zo duur).

Prijskwaliteit verhouding lijkt niet helemaal in verhouding; het is een fijn hotel op een goede locatie, maar voor de prijs had ik toch iets meer verwacht.

Hotel was perfect. The room was lovely and had a nice view out onto the canal. The free wine was a nice touch. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I will return here again. It was exactly as we had hoped and the air conditioning was a great relief in the heatwave!

Misschien hadden we het beter moeten lezen; geen centrale plek voor het ontbijt maar op de kamer. Misschien niet erg als je alleen of met zn tweeen bent maar minder prettig als je met meer personen bent

A very cozy place, ideally located, close to the city center and the bus station. The room was pleasant and more spacious than is usually the case in Dutch hotels.

De douche wand had wat langer mogen zijn - na het douchen is de badkamer vloer nat.

Small, really central hotel. Booking on very short notice and check-in both well after reception had already closed worked, though it required a phone call from out side. Excellent service, nothing to complain. Nice, spacious, comfortable, clean room. Safe parking spot for bicycles in small courtyard inside the building.

The room had a nice, calm decor and was quite spacious, with a very comfy bed and even a kitchenette. The bathroom was a bit small but very clean. The airconditioning worked very well, which was nice with these high temperatures at the moment. The hotel is walking distance from the centre of town and all the shops.

Very clean and quiet, small kitchen with fridge included, comfortable bed and lots of space, large windows on both sides. Nice location along quiet canal, 10-15 min walk from train station. Overall a very good place to stay, albeit a little on the expensive side.

Would have been nice to be able to open the windows fully, not just tilt them. But the AC was working well. It was a bit of a challenge to use the shower without flooding half of the bathroom. There's no room for breakfast downstairs, so you need to carry it to your room, which was fine for me, just be careful not to trip on the stairs and spill coffee everywhere..... Breakfast selection was also rather basic, but alright for the price.

Locatie was excellent, just a short stroll into the city center. The service, the facilities all neat and beatifully designed. We got a room on groundfloor, super easy with our suitcases, as there is no elevator. The room was super, especially with the little kitchenunit, for which making your own cup of tea or coffee is great, only minor thing is the lighting, a bit on the darker side for my older eyes, yet good athmosphere, the bathroom is a little small, but functional and part of the Dutch way of design. It was a pleasure to stay here in a wonderful city. Can recommend it to anyone visiting Leiden.

There is some street noise if you are at the front - partying students, so for a front room you have to be okay with that.

Ontbijt op de kamer, zelf gaan halen, gelukkig zaten op het gelijkvloers. Niets speciaal die de hogere prijs verantwoordt.

A bit off the beaten track, but nice and quiet. The young staff were very helpful and knew what they were doing. Found it a very comfortable place and would go back.

Breakfast could be beefed up or perhaps be included in the price. The spread,, though goid, was not worth more than 10 euros.

We waren een nachtje in Leiden met de boot. Een dag heen varen, de boot in de passantenhaven in Leiden geparkeerd en de volgende dag terugvaren. We kwamen uit op Breathe hotel omdat het in de buurt van de haven was en niet ver van het centrum. Dat pakte geweldig uit. Er was een ruime koelkast op de kamer waar we de elementen van de koelbox opnieuw konden laten bevriezen voor de volgende dag. Het bed was heel comfortabel. De airconditioning was erg prettig (het was een snikhete dag). Goede douche. Echt helemaal prima.

Het enige dat jammer is, is dat er geen ontbijtruimte is. Je kunt ontbijt vanaf een buffet mee naar de kamer nemen, maar op de kamer is ook niet echt een lekker ontbijtplekje.

Our room was very spacious and the location was quiet and right across the street from a canal. Evalina at the front desk was very helpful and gave us great recommendations and directions.

There is no lift at the property. We stayed in the loft which was the top floor, so we had to be good with stairs.

Breakfast is served at the reception and your take the tray back to your room. This was clear in the reservation, but we didn't like this arrangement, as for anything your forget (ie. Salt) you need to go back to reception area. Also, if you are travelling with friends you won't be able to share breakfast

Een erg leuk en goed hotel in het centrum van Leiden. Het oude centrum is op loopafstand van het hotel. Parkeren deden we bij de Meelfabriek, op 5 minuten lopen van het hotel. Wij hadden een suite aan de voorzijde van het hotel. Deze was sfeervol ingericht. Kitchenette was prima uitgerust met alles wat we nodig hadden. Badkamer was ook prima in orde. De bedden waren heel erg comfortabel. We hadden geen ontbijt erbij geboekt, omdat er een grote supermarkt om de hoek te vinden is. Daarnaast kun je in het centrum ook leuk ontbijten/brunchen. Als we weer naar Leiden zouden gaan, dan zouden we hier zeker weer verblijven.

It was a quiet location, the room was a good size, beds comfortable, large TV & tea/coffee making facilities. The staff on front desk were very friendly & helpful. Continental breakfast was good quality, hotel doesn’t have a dining area so this had to be taken back to the room, but room had a small table so this wasn’t an issue.

Falta uma área de estar comum e local para tomar café da manhã. Queríamos pegar o café, mas ele era servido em um corredor e tínhamos que tomar no quarto, onde não havia uma mesa para dois (somente uma escrivaninha de frente para a parede, o que tornaria muito desagradável a refeição. Assim, desistimos disso. Também não fomos avisados da necessidade de se deixar um aviso na porta, para que o quarto fosse arrumado. Ficamos sem arrumação dois dias por isso.
