Lovely boutique hotel. We went for the superior room with a bath. It was luxurious. I needed a full day's rest as I have bad fatigue and it was exactly what I got. My husband had a good walk around central Derry which was no distance from the hotel. The breakfasts are delicious, the menu is great and it is even possible to order something more bespoke as I did. Staff were cheerful and helpful.
One very small thing was the bathroom had no bathmat or bath salts. Very minor thing and did not spoil a thing as I had my own shower gel with me.
Staf were excellent. Location was ok - but on a steep hill. Room was very stylish. Ice machine was a welcome feature. No dedicated parking available - only parking on the street.
No fridge.
Location, style and themes in hotel, informative and friendky staff.
Perfectly located within a short walk to the heart of Derry, and close to good pubs and restaurants. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. It's located near the university -- quiet when we went, but that was before classes resumed in the fall.
Room size was a bit tight, but bed very comfortable and beautifully decorated in the theme of Irish writers.
Beautiful house with so many original features. Our room was equally beautiful. A feast for the eyes. The hospitality tray was well stocked and extra treats in the hall. Breakfast was delicious- wish we had stayed longer just to try each option on the menu. All of the staff were friendly and helpful but a special shout out to David who checked us in. It is a long time since we have received customer service of that level. He gave a history of the house and took us to our room . He even carried our baggage. We went on the walking tour which was led by him and it was excellent. Definitely recommend doing this. David most certainly had oodles of Irish charm.
There is nothing we didn’t like- they have everything perfect.
A wonderful property - lovely rooms, beautifully decorated. Delicious breakfast - a 10! Staff couldn't be more accommodating. Close to restaurants. Ten minute walk into the city centre.
Wifi worked well on my phone, not on my laptop.
Everything! Emmett and the staff were fabulous. I would give them 11 out of 10..just sorry we weren't there for a week.
Having to leave.
The breakfast was wonderful. Collin & Conner were amazing.
Beautifully restored and well kept.

It was very eclectic but had a lot of history. Nicely presented

The breakfast was satisfactory. The requirement of ordering breakfast the night before was understood by the small number of guests but difficult to predict what I might be interested in.
The property was great clean- fresh - close to the city parking good

The bathroom was freezing cold as was the bedroom. We had a very steep hill to climb to get back and forth to the town. Our room.was not cleaned either, but manager apologised. The shower water leaked out all over the bathroom and into the bedroom, obviously the drainage backed up ... we had to mop it up oursselves with towels. Overall, wouldn't stay here again
The property is nice, but the bedroom was very small
Das Haus ist voller Charme. Wunderschön renoviert, es ist an alles gedacht. Man kann zu Fuß die Stadt erkunden. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen!
Sitting room area was lovely - so good we preferred to come back in the evening rather than stay out. Bed was very comfy. Breakfast was great. Easy to park nearby. Individual touches really made it stand out. Nespresso coffee freely available, a duvet cover that wasn't plain cotton, snacks in case you are peckish. Memorable experience.
Husband would like to see if they could help get a good Indian restaurant in the town 😁
The position of the hotel
They gave us a room at the ground floor, behind the reception. We could not open the window or even open the lights as somebody could see in our room.
Lovely old house; Enjoyable after-dinner drink; quiet
The room was very warm in the summer heat. Bathtub, while lovely, was not used, took up more space than the bed and left the shower (which was used) in a tiny crowded corner on the other side of the room.
Nette Gastgeber. Typisch irisches Frühstück. Das hatte hatte ein schönes Flair.
The breakfast was outstanding if anything, for us it was overly large portions. On our second breakfast we scaled it back.
It was maybe our fault as we had a smaller room. Although comfortable it could have done with a couple of chairs but in hindsight the room wasn't big enough. If your staying for longer than a couple of nights I would suggest a larger room(the James Joyce)room I would recommend.
Empfang von James - wunderbar. Sehr gutes Frühstück. Sehr kurz ins Zentrum. Kein Problem mit Parkplatz.
Da gibt es nichts. Alles sehr gut.
Beautiful rooms and exceedingly comfortable. Fabulous full Irish breakfast. Staff extremely helpful and kind. Loved the literary theme.
No lift. But staff carried my suitcase to my room so not much of a problem.
Breakfast and decor
Excellent location, easy walk to city centre. The morning walking tour with David was great and provided us with lots of information. Plenty of parking right outside the hotel.
nothing
Wonderful hospitality from all the staff. Beautiful property, lovely quality rooms with very comfortable beds. Absolutely excellent breakfast. Highly recommend.
Very stylish and well maintained . Nice lounge area to relax. Very helpful staff.
Room was small but perfectly adequate
Decor. Breakfast. Friendliness of staff.
4 flights of stairs to reach the second floor bedroom. Located on an extremely steep road that made walking access a real challenge. Unable to get a beer in the lounge because they are not licensed.
Beautiful building . Breakfast fantastic. Colin was friendly and informative. Location great.
Nothing.
My husband and I stayed at The Lawrence Rooms while attending our son’s graduation, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. All rooms are named after Irish poets, and we stayed in the Seamus Heaney room at the top of the house, which was beautifully presented and very comfortable. The staff, including Conor and Emmet, made us feel so welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. Our son and his girlfriend joined us for breakfast on the morning of the graduation, which made the stay feel even more special. We had a lovely time and would definitely stay again.
There was absolutely nothing we didn't like about The Lawrence. Just to note it is situated on a hill so might be challenging for anyone with mobility issues. There is plenty of car parking around the property. It really is worth a visit.
Loved our stay at The Lawrence. We wish we had longer there. Beautifully decorated and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Stunning property in great location and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great location, walk to all areas of interest and restaurants, but quiet leafy street with ample parking.
Even king rooms were quite cozy, however beautifully appointed. A fan would be appreciated.
Location
Trouble parking, but the festival was going on.
Beautifully restored building, well-supplied common room, excellent breakfast, helpful staff, great walkable location.
Room was beautiful, but a bit snug.
Warm welcome by exceptional staff, breakfast was excellent and its a great location and lovely hotel.
The bed is quite creaky due to the bed frame being heritage. But its a lovely bedroom.
This property is exceptional! Beautiful rooms, very clean and comfy. Sharon and the team took amazing care of us. Breakfast was top quality, everything was superb! Very good location as well, walking distance to the city. And thanks for lending us an umbrella as well! Thank you!
The Lawrence was an amazing place to stay really beautiful accommodation and the city is so accessible by foot. within 15 minutes you are in the heart of the city. The breakfast was one of the best breakfast I have had. would highly recommend The Lawrence. Will definitely return again
the rooms were a little stuffy but it was particularly warm when we stayed so if a fan was provided that would be great. parking can be a little hard to come by at different times of the day
Struggled to find parking as there was a river festival on, had to park half a mile away and move it to near the hotel at 10.30pm.
The staff were amazing, especially David! Such a beautifully restored home. Breakfast was exceptional!!
The hill to climb at the end of the day. Lol!
We stayed in a apartment called the Poet's Corner. Very quiet, and met all our needs. The breakfast was top class. Plenty of roadside parking after 4pm. Arrange to do the walking tour with the Lawrence. Best £9.00 you will spend.
Both Colin (who checked us in) and Emmett (the manager) were great. Emmett in particular was very informative and engaging. The hotel building has a lovely heritage feeling. The location, while a little out of the main centre of town (and outside the walls), was still within easy walking distance of the centre, but in a quiet and attractive location (once we found it - we initially drove past the hotel a couple of times without being able to identify it, as the signage isn't obvious (although that could equally just have been our inattentiveness)). Breakfasts were very good. The walking tour run by the hotel was extremely good - they only run it if enough people are interested, so we highly recommend expressing interest!
The room was a little cramped.
Wunderschöne Ausstattung, jedes Zimmer anders dekoriert. Hervorragendes Frühstück, für jeden frisch zubereitet. Sehr hilfsbereites Personal.
Das Zimmer war etwas eng.
Building, decor, breakfast.
Small room and double bed. Prefer king size.
Stately accommodation in excellent location. Parking on street was easy. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Access to lounge areas a bonus. Exceptionally Helpful staff.
Nothing although there is a small rise to walk to the accommodation.
Liked the decor, staff very pleasant, good restaurant close by
Heating was on in bedroom at 22.30 which led to an uncomfortable night’s sleep!
The decor in this property is out of this world, totally over the top - we loved it! Our room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a very comfortable sitting room with books and a bar. The house is on a quiet, leafy street with plenty of on street parking. It is a short walk into the town centre. Derry is a fascinating place to visit, amazing live music in the bars. Highly reccomend the Bloody Sunday and Peacemakers Museums.
I would prefer to choose my breakfast in the morning rather than the night before and have a little more flexibility over times. The food was delicious but quite rich and I would have appreciated the option of fruit salad and muesli.
Everything! The people are friendly and helpful, the room gave us our best nights of sleep the whole trip, and the breakfast options were excellent. The house decor is dedicated to Irish poets, authors and other notable figures with little stories about each throughout.
Just the hill to walk to get up to it from the town.
Colin and all staff did an excellent job and made us welcome
All good
We had a last minute cancellation of the accommodation we had booked in Derry because of flooding from an upstairs apartment and The Lawrence had availability. The location was alright for an overnight stay. The manager on duty arranged a discount for us at the local eating place. The breakfast was good, but not exceptional - I’ve never had to request a second egg with an English/Irish breakfast before.
We paid a high price for one of the better rooms - it was so small we were unable to accommodate our suitcases and ended up leaving them in the car. There were also several flights of stairs to negotiate. The staff were very keen to demonstrate their newly acquired “Alexa” - it’s been around for a long time in the rest of the world! Unfortunately, the WiFi was almost non-existent so, not only were we compromised communication-wise, but so was Alexa.
Gelukkig was niets gestolen.
Very nice and highly recommend. Parking is free and close by. Center of town is walkable. Great breakfast. Overall an elegant building with lots of character.

The people were extremely friendly and helped us to take our bags up to our room and bring them down. Most pleasant. The breakfast was magnificent! The facility was BEAUTIFULLY decorated.
Our bed was a wee bit small and so was the room. While the Lawrence was about a 15 minute walk from the center city, it was a very steep hill both ways. Not suggested for someone with mobility issues.
How unique it was. The staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful. The location was great too.
Good location Very classy and clean
All good
Stayed in the poetry cottage, a self contained apartment out in the courtyard was gorgeous. With everything we needed and very tidy. Hosts are lovely and breakfast was perfect.
An old building, well decorated and clean. Super friendly welcome. The beds were fantastic!
The room was a little small but still very comfortable
Superbe établissement à la deco british. Excellent petit-déjeuner raffiné ! Très bon emplacement.
Chambre petite.
Beautiful decor, attention to detail.

Beautiful house, each room lovingly decorated and named after Irish writers. Crisp bedlinen and Rituals products in the bathrooms. Attentive staff and do take a nightcap at the bar if John is there. The breakfast is another highlight. Great choices! Try the porridge.
All was good
A truly lovely stay. Breakfast was incredible! The staff was kind and welcoming. We loved our stay so much.
The Lawrence is a vwey beautiful historical hotel. The decor is luxurious and the rooms are incredibly comfortable. The staff were wonderful, Colin's humour very memorable :) The breakfast is also exceptional. If only we had been there for more than one night.
Sehr geschmackvolle Einrichtung.
Beautifully decorated with old world charm. We stayed in a first floor room. Bathrobe provided. Ice machine in common area outside the room. On the ground floor was a sitting room, bar and breakfast room. Was met at reception and given the story of the house. Had a nice dinner at Quay West Wine Bar 5 mins down the hill.
Bed was a Double not Queen but understandable as room was not overly large.
Eugene & Colin were just lovely people. Sooo helpful. I was able to leave my bags there for the day & I came back to find they had put them in my room for me. Really comfy bed. Free street parking just around the corner (or on the street out the front). I didn't eat, but breakfast smelt wonderful. Short walk into town.
Nothing I can think of.
