Issues with toilet and dent in the wall bathroom

At approximately 10:40 AM, I called the front desk to request assistance in calling a taxi. I was not feeling well and needed to get to the hospital. As someone who is not from Red Deer, I am unfamiliar with local taxi options and simply needed help. The staff member immediately responded with "no," which shocked me, as assisting guests with basic needs such as arranging transportation is a standard courtesy in hospitality. When I asked why she refused, she replied in a rude tone, "Did you ask me?" I clarified that I was requesting one now and had not asked previously. She then hung up the phone. Moments later, she called back and asked if I needed the taxi right away. I told her I would be in the lobby within five minutes. I went to the lobby immediately and asked her why she had refused my request. She denied saying no, then changed her explanation and claimed she might have misheard me. I accepted that possibility and began walking away. As I did, she made another disrespectful remark: "Don’t you have a phone?" When I asked what she meant, she continued, "You have a phone, you can call a taxi. I can’t be with you all the time to call a taxi." This was said while I was visibly unwell, in pain, and trying to get to the hospital as quickly as possible. Her tone was dismissive, argumentative, and completely inappropriate. She continued insisting that I should have used my phone, despite my explaining that I am not local, was unwell, and simply needed assistance. No taxi information or brochures were provided in the room, and her attitude made an already stressful situation significantly worse. This level of disrespect, lack of empathy, and unwillingness to provide basic guest support is unacceptable for any hotel, especially one serving visitors unfamiliar with the area.

Only issue was the homeless outside but it really wasnt an issue...Just seeing it was sad

I liked staying down there it was nice and comfortable and close to the hospital when I had my babies staying up there

How I went to go and book a reservation either a couple weeks ago or about a month ago and the one short guy told me that I wasn't allowed to stay there beacuse I was trying to let bums come into my room and stay with me witch was not the case and was not True at all he also told me that I was causing problems and lying when that also isn't true

Die Straße war teilweise recht laut, da einige Motorradfahrer unterwegs waren.

Building is beat inside. Worn carpet in the halls and in the room, burn marks on the tub they tried to cover up with a towel. Scratches and marks on the door. Yellowed minifridge looks poor. Location is at the edge of downtown had crackheads asking for change before we even got in the building.

Stains on the sheets moved rooms, and there were stains on the quilt cover. The mirror was dirty too

Das Waschbecken mit Spiegel befand sich im Zimmer, nicht im Bad, was bei 3 Personen im Zimmer entspannt war. Unser fenster konnte für Frischluft geöffnet werden. Sauber und ordentlich, alles was benötigt wurde für eine Nacht.

Der Haarföhn war so gut wie defekt. Leider fest montiert, so dass ein Austausch aufwändig ist.

Sehr gute Lage, um alles in Downtown zu erreichen. Guter Einstieg in alle Hiking- and Bikingtrails. Großes Zimmer und guter Service (Beispiel: Die Klimaanlage verlor Wasser; nach meiner Mitteilung an die Rezeption war innerhalb einer halben Stunde ein Haushandwerker da und löste das Problem.), sehr gutes Frühstück (für kanadische Verhältnisse).

Schön wäre es, wenn statt des Plastik-Wegwerfbestecks wenigstens Holzbesteck verwendet würde.

It was quiet. The air conditioner worked well (maybe a bit loud). Staff was pleasant overall.

It is an older building and comes with some effects of age. Better / newer towels would be a good idea....staff mentioned that they are coming soon? A few fairly inexpensive upgrades would go a long way. For example, replace the rusty shower curtain rod. One front desk staff looked bored and disinterested. The rest were fine.

Did not like the room, when we walked in it smelled like smoke, with my health I can’t be a Smokey room, the comforter also had yellow stains on it. The person at the desk looked for another room for us, went up and the comforters also had yellow stains on both of them, so we went back to the desk and told them that we are not staying, and left. At first he charged us a &200 damage deposit, and when we left he said that he credited it back to me, I will be checking on that.

Outdoor of the hotel looks peaceful and with lots of trees in the surroundings.

The bathtub is creeking when you step on it.

The homeless people walking up to me as I was parking. There was a dirty towel in our room when we walked in and dirt on the beds. We didn’t end up staying. We left and when somewhere else.

Wouldn't take my credit card and refused cash for the security deposit, and then didn't refund my room. Book literally anywhere else in red deer.

It was clean and a good rate. Check in staff was great but the breakfast was terrible. Rubber eggs, two anaemic sausages, lady offered to heat up a oancake . It wad 9:30 and brea was supposed to go till 10.

The location is not ideal in terms of the activities surrounding and it sits between two busy streets. However, we had no difficulties getting to and from the hotel. The hotel building/doors, mats, and towels were well used and dated.

The bathroom was very dated and the shower did not work and having the sink in the main room was a big let down. I reported this to the morning crew apone checking out and all i got was an Oh .that did not sit well with my wife and I, maybe an I'm sorry to hear that or how can we make this right might have been a better response I'm thinking.

The property was easy to access and exit.

Very sketchy area with unhoused persons loitering about. No secure elevator access. Anyone could follow a person up. The tub insert didn’t fit properly so while standing in the shower you could feel the bottom of the tub sink in.

food was alright. bed was comfy no one bothered us and the temp in the room was controlled well. also there was a good size tv. only basic cable though....

there was no toilet paper on the roll when we arrived.... the shower was hard to turn on and off, the toilet seat moved from side to side as you sat down as if the seat was about to fall off. there was one chair in the room for two people. the table was wobbly. i expected toilet paper to be on the roll when i arrived and a toilet seat to not wobble. i also expected the door to clear the toilet but if you sat down the door hits you in the bathroom... it was a nice breakfast, the staff was great. please ensure the toilet rolls are changed before each guest and tighten up the toilet seats and have someone look at the shower faucet.

Good location, easy access. Relatively comfortable bed, and not too high for senior access. Good tv, easy to operate.

wobbly table, cramped entrance to the room, practically had to walk through the closet to get in or out of the door. Thermostat didn't work, so the fan wouldn't turn on. Hot and stuffy sleeping with no AC, and couldn't open the window, being ground floor opening right to parking lot.

Had a good breakfast...not super varied but good. Hot water for tea was lukewarm. Location was near a Tim Hortons where some drug addicts hung out...but felt safe. Room was in great shape and on the quiet side. Excellent

The hotel put two $200.00 damage deposits on my credit card. Felt a little over the top.

They always have a great breakfast and I find the hotel is quiet and comfortable and clean.

Breakfast was good, the young man at the front desk solved the problem of the TV remote. It did not control the TV just the cable box. So he came with a second remote that controlled.

Can't say there was anything I didn't like, except if I came in after midnight I had to ring the bell for someone to let me in.

The stay was ok.

The breakfast was awful. Just a tiny amount of potatoes and eggs that were dried up and cold and a few sausages that were sitting in grease. A few dried up pancakes that you certainly couldn't even begin to cut through with the wooden knife. The only things edible were the yogurt, coffee and juice. We were there at 9:00 and the breakfast was scheduled for another hour, so I don't know what the people coming after us were supposed to eat. The location of the hotel was pretty sketchy with a lot of homeless people walking around and doing drugs right out in the open.

Soiled sheet - grossly inadequate response. Checked in ok Sunday for 2 nights. Bed looked a bit scruffy and was not neatly made. Worked laptop til midnight then discovered one side of lower bedsheet soiled with light brown stain from prior occupant. Too tired to deal with it so slept on the clean side. Reported to front desk at 7:30am Monday showing a photo (attached - vertical stain in centre) asking for clean sheets. Check in staff appalled by photo & apologetic. Left bed covers pulled down so stain clearly visible, Returned 9:30pm, bed covers pulled up but bed not properly made. Checked bed, soiled sheet still on bed. Returned to front desk who gave me another room. Unable to contact supervisor. Tuesday made complaint to supervisor Charity by phone after waiting hours for reply. Advising her staff was inadequately trained & in this case required discipline. It seems she had no authority to deal with the room cleaning staff involved. Just said she would "talk to staff". Courteous but not apologetic. There was no follow up from Hotel. Summary: - Room cleaning staff failed to change sheets from prior occupant. - Serious complaint next morning not followed up - Cleaning staff failed to follow instructions , failed to notice stain a second time, did not make up bed properly just pulled the covers up. Did not even re-arrange the pillows. - Inadequate response from management. - I confirmed the front desk staff member did issue a request to change the sheets & both morning & evening staff were courteous & responsive.

Housekeeping needs improvement. Bed wasn't made every day. Only got 1 regular coffee pod. Didn't clean the the crumbs off the desk top or vacuum ever during my stay. The bed boxspring was extremely noisy. Play up stayed there 6 years. This is the first time the bed was like that.

No one had any idea of how to change the date and they just blamed each other.

I didn't like being charged an extra $10.00 for additional adults in the room, even though when I booked I indicated 3 adults. Hotel policy apparently says 2 adults and 2 kids per room with 2 queen beds. I felt that was not right and should have been made aware of it when booking. The hotel rooms definitely need a face lift, they are getting run down.

The room was bright and well lit. The food was warm and staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a pretty good variety of choices for breakfast. The room rates are very reasonable and coffee was good. It is very conveniently close to the hospital.

There was somebody in the room above us that was noisy. The bathroom towels were not really up to my expectations; they are old, thin and had fabric softener in them. Not very conducive to drying the body. The toilet seat ring needs to be fixed. It kept slipping when sitting on it.

The hotel would only accept a credit card deposit. I have visa debit or cash and they were not acceptable. The front desk staff wouldn’t involve a manager or call anyone because he knew the hotel policy. No help, no options, and rude to deal with. So we went to a different hotel and had an amazing experience.

Accept options besides credit cards, which not every one has

The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was great.
