Gewoon helemaal niets!

Frederik, de gastheer, heeft er alles aan gedaan om ons een heerlijke tijd te laten hebben in Brugge. De locatie is werkelijk uniek: een mix van een 500 jaar historisch pand, gecombineerd met alle luxe die je verwacht. Heerlijk slapen op de perfecte bedden. Genieten van alle historische details om je heen. Het meer dan uitgebreide ontbijt, door Frederik zelf voorzien van vers fruit, een vers geperste jus en een heerlijk gebakken eitje naar wens. Wat wil een mens nog meer!

Värden Frederik var välkomnande och kunnig. Att få kliva in i ett hus med sådan historia som Frederik kunde delge oss var extra roligt. Det var tyst och lugnt. Sängarna var sköna, och frukosten vi fick varje morgon var fantastisk.

Een prachtige B&B midden in het centrum van Brugge. Op loopafstand van alle bezienswaardigheden, restaurants en café's. Frederik is een echte gastheer, het ontbijt was heerlijk. De kamer was ruim, de badkamer modern en van alle gemakken voorzien.

Uniek pand met een unieke gastheer

De ontvangst door de gastheer was zeer hartelijk. Hij zou uren kunnen vertellen over de geschiedenis van het huis en over de stad. Maar wel zonder opdringerig over te komen. Zeer ruime lichtrijke kamers met prachtige vergezichten. Ontbijt was heerlijk, met een vers gemaakt glaasje sinaasappelsap, koffie en een vers gebakken eitje naar keuze.

Ontbijt mocht misschien iets meer gevarieerd zijn, maar dit is dan muggenziften want het was overheerlijk en niemand is met honger van tafel gegaan.

My heart is full of gratitude and admiration for the hose, Frederik. Not only did he rescue me because I was lost; he made sure that I had what I needed to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. He turned the 500-year-old home that he grew up in into a comfortable home-away-from-home for his guests. It was clean, safe, and quiet. My room had three windows across the back, a king-size bed, a long vanity, a big walk-in shower, toilet in a separate space, and a place to hang clothes. The open-beamed ceilings added to the historical charm as did the surprise found in every room. My room had a sandal attached to the ceiling because it was brother Johanes' room; he wore sandals every day. Breakfasts were a treat. There was a selection of bread, fruit, yogurt, eggs cooked to guest's choice, and fresh squeezed orange juice. Historical evidence such as original fireplaces, free standing stove, and bas reliefs can be found in the house. Frederik is willing to share the history of Bruges and his home and point out sites to visit in Bruges. I really appreciate the history talks and the individual care he gave all his guests.

Geweldige kamer in een huis met een verhaal en een ziel. Ontvangst verliep super! Geweldige ligging, overal dichtbij en toch rustig. Ondanks geen aanwezigheid van airco geen last gehad van de warmte. Zeer comfortabele bedden en fantastische douche. 's Morgens genoten van een lekker ontbijt, verse broodjes, vers fruit, eitje naar wens en voor een geweldig pluspunt: verse thee! Superlekker! Wij komen graag nog eens terug!

Unser Aufenthalt war wirklich ein Erlebnis! Es ist toll in so einem historischen Haus zu wohnen. Trotzdem waren die Zimmer sehr modern und komfortabel eingerichtet und mit vielen liebevollen Details ausgestattet. Das Frühstück war ausgesprochen gut. Jeder Gast hat eine kleine Portion frische Früchte bekommen und Frederik bereitete Eier nach Wunsch zu. Frederic ist ein großartiger Gastgeber und teilt bei Interesse gerne spannende Details zur Geschichte des Hauses.

I had a delightful stay at this beautiful historic home. The host was wonderful, offering good suggestions and made the most delicious breakfast. While the home is not air conditioned, it was very comfortable. (I was there in August with temps in the low 80s F.) The location is superb--right in the heart of all you want to see yet it is not in a noisy area. If you cannot climb stairs, this would not be the place for you, but it is a fabulous property!

I really liked it, but if it is super hot, you may want to get a place with AC. Also, if you have bad knees, there are stairs required to go to your room.

Absolutely nothing all excellent

We felt like staying at our friend’s house, where Frederick welcomed us warmly. The building was distinctive and full of history. The breakfast, curated and cooked by him, was delicious. The location was ideal—central yet peaceful. We would definitely come back.

There was no A/C and our room was on the top floor, so it was a bit hot at night. It was due to global warming (96°F, 35°C during the day).

De locatie is enorm smaakvol ingericht en piekfijn in orde. Allemaal leuke kleine vondsten, bijzondere hoekjes en overal iets bijzonders te zien. Alles tot in detail uitgedacht en met aandacht en liefde uitgevoerd. Ook de binnentuin is geweldig! Frederik is gastvrij en weet veel te vertellen over de geschiedenis van Brugge en het gebouw.

The building is very unique and old with an incredible history. Frédéric was a fantastic host and spend a lot of time with us to explain about the building and the history. He has paid attention to the smallest of details and the breakfast was just amazing. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Ci siamo trovati benissimo, coccolati da Frederik che ci ha raccontato la storia di questo posto e della sua famiglia. La struttura è curatissima in ogni dettaglio e realizza un perfetto connubio di riutilizzo e valorizzazione di materiali e oggetti antichi inseriti in un ambiente insieme a pezzi di design importante. Colazione fantastica e posizione centralissima. Che dire, ci è dispiaciuto dover andare via ❤️

Zeer vriendelijke gastheer, uitstekend ontbijt (gastheer perst vers fruitsap, bakt eitjes en spek naar wens à la minute, vers fruitslaatje op tafel, ...), kamer 'Jan' vonden wij top...

Das historische Gebäude wurde sehr aufwändig und mit viel Liebe zum Detail restauriert. Alle Zimmer wurden dabei individuell gestaltet. Frederik ist ein toller Gastgeber und hat uns viele interessante Informationen gegeben. Wir können die Unterkunft wärmstens empfehlen und würden De Zomere jederzeit wieder buchen.

This was by far the best B&B we’ve ever stayed in. The owner, Frederick, was extremely friendly and very hospitable. The B&B was so homey, and couldn’t be in a better location - central, yet tucked away in a quiet alley. The breakfast was delicious, clearly a lot of effort put into it, both from a taste and presentation perspective. I can’t wait to visit Bruges again so we can stay at De Zomere again!

Fredrick's home a an absolute gem in the heart of Brugge. He is a warm and engaging host, and the breakfast was amazing. The room was large quiet and peaceful.

What a treat! This is easily one of the top five places we've ever stayed. Every detail was thoughtfully and carefully planned, and you can feel it the moment you walk in. The design, atmosphere, and overall experience are simply exceptional. Beyond amazing—don't hesitate, just book it!

Such a lovely find! Perfect location close to the Markt. De Zomere is so full of history and such an interesting building. Our room was very comfy with a great shower and we appreciated the little box of chocolates on arrival! Lots of quirky details to see in the house such as lampshades made from envelopes, old shorts, lace bobbins, lights made from reclaimed parts of the house, a hidden shoe, all fascinating! Each day started with a delicious breakfast, fresh fruit salad, eggs, bacon, croissants, homemade jams. Frederik our host made us feel so welcome, and shared his time keeping us entertained with his tales of the house renovation and history of Bruges. Loved everything about our stay and will tell everyone to stay there whilst in Bruges!!

This ancient house is tucked away on a quiet cup-de-sac close to the Market Square. Our host, Frederik, grew up in the house and has performed beautiful renovations.

Das B&B von Frederik ist ein Juwel, er hat eines der ältesten Häuser Brügges renoviert, und das mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail. Er führt es selbst sehr zuvorkommend. Lage ist perfekt mitten im Zentrum. Wir waren schon in vielen netten Unterkünften: das de Zomere ist wirklich besonders. Auch für Radfahrer gut, können gut und sicher untergestellt werden.

The oldest brick building in Bruges, with a wood carving by a Napoleonic soldier, tiny Flemish primitives, and great decor. Beautiful rooms and a lovely breakfast made by Frederick. Great location.

We went a second time to this excellent place, and it was as perfect as it was the first time. Bruges is still a very nice city and this B&B fits right in. The rooms are spacious, with a lot of history. The breakfast area fits well and you can always have a good conversation with the host Frederik. He also provided us with a delicious breakfast.

Fabulous authentic and loving restoration of this 15th century property, originally the childhood home - and now a unique B & B - of the most wonderful host, Frederik. Stepping into the property is like being transported back in time, every detail of decor and furnishings perfectly curated. The room was immaculate and extremely comfortable and breakfast was superb. Frederik is an extremely engaging host and a font of both local and historical knowledge.

De locatie is werkelijk fantastisch; rustig gelegen maar toch een perfecte uitvalsbasis om de omgeving te verkennen. Het huis straalt enorm veel charisma uit, en dat geldt ook zeker voor host Frederik zelf! Het pand en de prachtige tuin hebben een unieke uitstraling gekregen dankzij zijn vindingrijke zelfgemaakte items zoals verlichting, tafelbladen en dergelijke. Je merkt aan alles dat hij een scherp oog voor detail heeft. De kamer was kraakhelder, met een super heerlijke douche en een comfortabel bed. Ook het ontbijt was lekker en verzorgd. Frederik is bovendien enorm sympathiek en zorgzaam; hij doet er alles aan om je verblijf perfect te maken. Een dikke aanrader! Frederik, nogmaals heel erg bedankt voor ons heerlijk verblijf!

Einzig der Kaffeee hat noch ein wenig Luft nach oben bis zum perfekten Espresso.

The building has a history, and Frederik the host did pay attention to the details inside the building and rooms designs. The breakfasts were best! We had a chance to meet the cat Nook who is very friendly. We love to comeback again! Plus the location is very good.

Eine aussergewöhnliche Unterkunft! Frederik macht das leckerste Frühstück und ist auch sonst der perfekte Gastgeber, weiss viel zu erzählen über sein Haus (in dem er aufgewachsen ist und das er selber renoviert hat!), über Brügge, über Geschichte und Kultur - wir hätten uns stundenlang unterhalten können. Die Lage ist sowieso unübertroffen, ruhig und zentral. Falls ich wieder in Brügge bin, dann sicher wieder im De Zomere!

This B&B is not to be missed—it’s a truly unique home. As the oldest house in Bruges, it has been beautifully renovated into a one-of-a-kind bed and breakfast that blends history with creative design. The room was wonderful, featuring original wooden beams paired with fresh, thoughtful touches. It had everything one could need, including excellent blackout shades for a restful night’s sleep. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was exceptional. Each morning, we enjoyed an incredible breakfast with fresh-squeezed orange juice, coffee, and a generous spread of breads, yogurt, cheeses, ham, fruit, and made-to-order eggs and bacon—there was always more than enough. Frederik was a warm and engaging host who shared fascinating stories about the home, making the stay even more special. We truly felt at home here, and it was an experience we won’t forget.

Frederik has turned this place into an incredible authentic and ecletic home stay with an incredible attention of details. The breakfast set up looks like a Vermeer painting, everywhere are disposed well curated objects and furniture creating the most amazing design conversations and setup. We immediatly feel like being in a home and not an hotel. Above eveything staying at De Zomere is an experience one will not forhet.

Außerordentlich gastfreundlich, wie zuhause

L'accueil de Frédérik a été parfait, nous avons pu poser nos bagages avant l'heure prévue, la chambre était déjà prête. La demeure est exceptionnellement bien rénovée, extrêmement confortable, idéalement située juste derrière le beffroi, d'un calme absolu, avec un jardin bucolique accessible, un petit déjeuner très complet, avec des produits frais et délicieux. En plus, Frédérik nous pressait lui-même le jus d'orange ;-). Il nous a aussi recommandé de télécharger une application qui nous a permis de vraiment bien découvrir Bruges. Tout était parfait, et nous avons eu la chance d'avoir un très beau temps. Bref une parenthèse enchantée! Une adresse à ne pas manquer ! "The place to be" in Bruges :-)

Frederick is an amazing host and shared lots with us about Brugge, the history of the house & the work he put into remodelling it. The breakfast is exceptional. We will stay no where else next time we visit Brugge!

L’endroit et la qualité du B&B en font une perle rare. J’y ai séjourné quatre nuits et l’hospitalité qu’offre Frederik est vraiment hors pair. Le réaménagement de sa maison datant du XVe siècle est vraiment formidable. La chambre était très confortable, spacieuse et bien aménagée. Ses petits déjeuners sont par ailleurs ailleurs excellents.

Die Lage ist unübertroffen, alles in der Nähe und gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Frühstück war hervorragend. Das ganze Haus ist ein Juwel und sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Frederik ist ein super netter und zuvorkommender Gastgeber. Man fühlt sich einfach nur wohl.

We stayed at De Zomere for 4 nights and had an incredible experience from start to finish. Our host, Frederik, was welcoming and helpful as soon as we got through the door and continued to look after us over the next few days. He gave us fantastic tips and local knowledge about the property and Bruges itself throughout our stay, which really made our trip special. The B&B is an incredible building that we feel lucky to have stayed in. The breakfast was amazing, particularly the orange juice, and our room was very comfortable, spacious and suited us perfectly. It’s in an ideal location in the centre of Bruges but feels tucked away and quiet from the busy main square. It’s also a great location for exploring the quieter parts of Bruges, which we loved doing. PS - we loved meeting the cat, Nouk!

We enjoy staying at B&B’s when we travel for the opportunity to talk to owners/other guests. Frederik didn’t disappoint as we stayed in his updated childhood home. He shared history about Bruges. Breakfast was wonderful and catered to individual likes. Fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious!

WiFi was a bit spotty, but since we were traveling for pleasure, it wasn’t vital to our trip.

It’s like staying at a mansion or a museum, it is perfect in any case. Frederik, the owner and manager is friendly and willing to help in any way. The building has a substantial history itself which you can feel in each room and corner of the building. In walking distance to nice restaurants, beer pubs and canals
