The Vines - Gibbston

The house is located amidst a beautiful vinery and although getting to the place might be tricky, the hosts provide enough directions. The studio itself is well appointed with all the amenities minus gas or laundry if you are looking for that.. otherwise it has everything including a toaster, kettle, heater, heated flooring in the bathroom, towels and bathroom amenities. We had a brief encounter with Sarah the host and she was very welcoming and lovely. A great stay option and only 30 mins to Queenstown, Bungy jumpy is 5 mins away and so are many wineries. Great value for money overall.

There was no kitchenette , filling jug for a cuppa from the sink no bottled water and no kitchen,it was attached to a house but never mentioned in the description,noise through the random door ,no privacy in bathroom due to no obscure on the glass,bed went down at the head end

Beautiful location in amongst the vineyards. The hosts gave some clear directions with photos of how to get there from the main road. The place was spotless, very homely and comfortable, and warm in the middle of winter.

Everything was lovely, just wished I had longer to explore the area.

We stayed at the vines for 2 nights and absolutely loved it! The room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The location was great, we walked along the Gibbston river trail to Gibston winery. Would highly recommend and would stay here again 😊

It was amidst the vines & a stone throw away from other popular vineyards. The mountain backdrop is amazing. It is so peaceful & serene.

Beautiful location, not too far away from Arrowtown. Comfy bed and beautiful bathroom facilities. Cool, cosy vibe, great for a one nighter.

There's thin bits of paper bluetacked to the windows for privacy in the bathroom- they don't cover the whole window and are not opaque so you can see right into the bathroom. Though its private property and I don't anyone is looking in, it still made it less comfortable. The heating is centrally controlled and for the life of us, we couldn't figure it out- though we didn't contact the host- that's on us. We could hear the hosts through the connecting door- which made it tricky to put our bub to sleep. There's no TV in the main lounge, only the bedroom. This might not be an issue for people, but when you have a bub it makes the layout a bit tricky.

Very comfy bed, warm, good shower, quiet, out of town

Perfect for busy days and coming back to sleep in the very comfy bed. Knew it wasnt a self catering unit which was fine for us, but a bit of workspace for making a sandwich or building the cheese platter would make the space more user friendly.

Great setting amongst the vines. Good location for viewing the stars on a clear night. Blankets for sitting out to watch them provided.

Unfortunately a lot of bugs and flies in the washroom and a little in the bedroom.

Our 2 night stay was great! It’s a room in their home but it’s separate entrance and private so that’s all we needed.

No kitchen facilities but that was fine for the nature of our travels and short stay.

Great location in the wine area with lovely views. Larger than we were expecting with a lounge area too. More equipment available than what we expected with the added bonus of cereal breakfast provided.

The stone steps approaching the property were not easy to negotiate especially when you are not able to manage due to physical limitations.

No table or chairs to sit and have food or write etc. No space to put luggage other than on the floor. No sight or sound of the owners who presumably were in the adjoining house. Otherwise an enjoyable stay.

The immersion in the vineyard. The sense of peacefulness. The great and spacious room. Very friendly host, everything is very well looked after. Very clean place. Strongly suggested.

Everything was lovely.

Sarah, la padrona di casa, ci ha accolto con tanto calore e simpatia, facendoci sentire subito a casa. Ci ha inoltre aiutato a prenotare una cena last minute, visto il nostro arrivo in serata. La camera è in realtà un'ala della casa con 2 ambienti e 2 bagni, il tutto arredato con molto gusto. La posizione e la vista dalla casa sono eccezionali. Super consigliato

Sehr schöne und ruhige Lage. Nette Einrichtung.

Schwer zu finden, da die Wegbeschreibung sowohl missverständlich als auch unvollständig ist. Da die Hausverwalterin in der angrenzenden Hauptwohnung bei meiner Ankunft bis um 1 Uhr morgens die Waschmaschine laufen ließ, hat auch die ruhige Lage wenig gebracht. Die Heizkörper waren ausgeschaltet. Außerdem wurde der Teppich unter dem Bett augenscheinlich schon seit längerer Zeit nicht mehr gesaugt.

The location was fantastic. We were able to walk to vineyards (and back again). The accommodation was lovely and warm with a beautiful outlook. We particularly enjoyed the deck area down the driveway for enjoying the sunset over the crown range. We would definitely recommend.

It was very quiet and a lovely view

The steps up to the property were slabs of rock rough and odd sizes and not spaced evenly going up a fairly steep incline very difficult for the elderly I would say and for someone with joint issues. The property was difficult to find.

All good. Nice staff, excellent location, a lot of space for the baggage. A lot of trips are easily possible from this place. The host even came to our room, and we enjoyed a pleasant drink together.

Die Lage in den Weinbergen ist super schön, ruhig und entspannend. Einige Weingüter sind gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Die Unterkunft an sich ist super gemütlich und gut ausgestattet.

Although, a clear direction given, but a little struggle to find a place and the road was bumpy for my small car. Good that we got there in day light otherwise it would be difficult to find the place.

Absolutely a fantastic place! We booked it for the price so didn't have many expectations but it exceeded all of the ones we did. Could not say enough good things about it!

It was really dark driving back after dinner, it was hard to see where to turn in. The rooms were a little dusty. It would be great to have more space to make breakfast and to eat.

This was an amazing stay and property. The house is overlooking a vineyard and the views are amazing. The property itself was so cute and beautiful. It has a living room as well and we just loved it. Spoke briefly with the host and she was very welcoming and helpful. Host had a booklet of instructions and it was just so helpful even to explore the area for wineries and food. It’s really value for money. The best stay we had in our trip.

Amazing to walk out the door in the morning and see rabbits, birds and green grass for miles, showers are great and heated bathroom floors made a very warm welcome, very close to Arrow Town, that we enjoyed more than Queenstown, stunning views if you drive up the hill roads, adored the paino and pot plants

A little hard to find at night, so slow down and let the GPS catch up, could have a better entrance sign. And microwave would be the perfect finish to the cute kitchen area

Location was amongst the vines, beautiful views of the mountain. Away from the towns so definitely should have a car or way to access. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom/shower was lovely. Really happy that breakfast/coffee/ and hot chocolate was provided.

Alongside other comments, maybe removing the piano and making space for a console table for the breakfast amenities/ kettle/ toaster would be nice. Overall it just seemed a bit crowded. I also thought the heated flooring in the bathrooms was lovely, but wasnt clear how to turn these off and I personally felt like it was alot of energy to be used!

Very cool place! Look exactly like the photo. The owner is lovely, the place is so unique i love the care and her attention to every detail of the studio. It's very considerate ❤️ Wonderful place for morning sunrise I love the vibe of the whole place. Definitely recommend

- Driving up near the entrance, just keep your car's window closed. I was sprinkled some dust from the flower of the tree on the side of the driveway, and it caused some allergic reaction. Took an antihistamine and it was gone. Just, be careful.. - the curtains in the bathroom are a bit sheer

Sofa wasn't comfortable. Very small amount of tea and coffee supplied. It would be better to have a table and chairs where the non- functional piano is. People with mobility issues might struggle with the stone steps.

Better kitchen facilities would be good. Hard to even make a cup of tea on top of the fridge! Sound proofing between units not too good.

The accomodation is amazing, there is a lot of space, everything is very clean and the view from the bed is stunning, vineyards and mountains. If you are on vacation this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy.

The view was so amazing and Sarah was so sweet. Everything was in such good order and the bed and pillows made it feel like we were sleeping on clouds! There is a lot of ambience and we got to enjoy a glass of wine outside while watching the mountains and vineyard.

You do need a car to get around so I wouldn't suggest going there without at least renting a vehicle.

The place was quiet, beautiful and extremely clean. The host greeted me upon arrival. She also provided detailed directions to the space. Everything was perfect.

Clean and beautifully presented accommodation. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Got to see the stars in all their glory 🌟 Appreciated the muesli, tea and coffee for the morning. Heated floors a total bonus in the bathroom.

No complaints, just suggestions. A microwave would be fab. More signage on the way up to the property (even from the chicken shed to the door) so you don't need to keep checking your phone for directions. I just wanted clarification I was going the right way 😆 and not just walking into someone's house.

We had a wonderful stay in Gibbston. The apartment was very clean, new, big and equipped with everything we needed. The nature around is just great. The hosts are super friendly and will help wherever it is needed. Very easy Check-In and Check-Out. Thanks for everything!

It would have been good if there was a microwave as there was a mini fridge, cutlery and plates supplied, but no way to cook a meal or heat food. But overall still a great spot to stay and I would go there again!

Gareth provided clear and easy directions to get to his property. We brought our own breakfast, but it would have been a bonus if there was a microwave available to heat up our food. Although the house is adjacent to their own, it was very quiet, and we never felt like we had neighbors. The house is super clean and smells amazing.

We were thinking it would be better if the shower room had a curtain for the window. As an Asian, I felt a bit uncomfortable with the clear glass window.
