Umhlanga Village - Ke Nako!

This property was exceptional for our 2 night stay. Was very happy with the facilities provided. The apartment was clean with a nicely decorated interior. Loved both the big screen TVs. There were enough towels and linen provided. Kitchen was fully equipped with necessities and was very impressed with the Nespresso machine with the capsules provided. Bathroom was clean with enough toilet provided. There was also hand-wash in the bathroom. Shower was spacious. Bed was comfortable and clean. Views were gorgeous.

The bed frame is wooden so around the bed we kept hitting our legs against the bed frame which was very sore. That was the only downside of the property. The area does get noisy at night so if you struggle to sleep maybe consider using ear plugs.

Excellent location, close to the beach, shopping and restaurants. Has everything that you need in self-catering accommodation. Beautifully furnished. Clear communication and instructions by host. Good value for money.

Great size and view

I loved that that the place was so spacious , everything we needed. Especially extra towels. The view was beautiful and also lively at night. We could chill on the balcony and hear the music at night. Definitely will be booking again soon.

I would have preferred darker curtains in the bedroom. Especially in the morning it was abit too bright when we wanted to sleep in. Hopefully next time it would be better 🙂

Location great and private!

Excellent location and great sea view. Property is modern with all amenities needed and well kept.

The bed has side posts which for the space in the room can cause you to knock into them so one needs to be careful walking in that space. I would also suggest some deep cleaning on the patio area. Note it does get a little noisy with the cars and music downstairs but nothing some white noise can't help. Tip :play some white noise and you will be fine.

Well equipped, very clean and quality furnishings - great location (few mins walk from beach and shops). Host very responsive. All in all - brilliant apartment!

The area is a little noisy however with the windows and sliding doors closed, you can't hear much.

A truly disappointing stay. The apartment was not cleaned. It was absolutely dirty and dusty. Bedding was filthy we had to buy bedding. we had a leak from the ceiling and there is black mold on the ceiling.this apartment is a health hazard, I'm absolutely disgusted that this apartment is actually allowed to booked by paying guests. DISGUSTING WILL NEVER BOOK THESE APARTMENTS AGAIN.

Loved it so much the first time that we had to come back, and once again the stay was amazing. The views are absolutely to die for and create such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The bed was also extremely comfortable and made the stay even better. Ke Nako is truly the perfect getaway spot and we will definitely be returning again!

The apartment had a very strong paint smell because the ceiling had apparently been painted that morning by maintenance. Unfortunately, all the doors and windows were closed, so there was little to no ventilation, and the aircon was also not working at the time, which made the smell quite overwhelming. That being said, I do want to commend our host for how quickly she handled the situation. Once we contacted her, she immediately arranged for someone to come check the aircon, and it was sorted out fairly quickly, which we really appreciated.

The apartment had just about everything i needed including the coffee machine and milk, enough clean towels and bedding.

There was no bath soap or shower gel in the shower. The entrance door is a bit tight and makes noise when you have to push close it.

The space was absolutely beautiful and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that made it easy to relax right away. It was thoughtfully equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay, and everything was spotlessly clean and well looked after. The staff were warm, friendly, and consistently helpful, going out of their way to make the experience even more enjoyable.

The fridge in the kitchen made a very annoying sound. Outside furniture needs a really good deep clean.

Perfect location with great view. Convenient secure parking. Easy check in and check out. Comfortable apartment with very nice outdoor balcony and seating.

Towels still hanging on drying rack in the sitting room and Coffee/ tea station not replenished so it was not quite “ready” for checkin. Fridge alarm was constantly sounding. We could mute it for a bit and then it would start again so had to sleep with bedroom door closed.

Advert said it had a private pool and gym which was the main reason i booked (as 30 degrees+) but turned out that wasn’t the case…

Very clean and well equipped Location is great for access to the beach and the many restaurants. Also Samantha was very helpful.

The pool is no longer accessible to apartment users which was a disappointment. Also as a non South African without a DSTV card I was unable to access any sport. Something to think about for overseas visitors staying for more than a few days. Nothing the owners can do about it but the boy racers with their Maserati’s and Ferrari’s are a nuisance.

There was a long queue at reception and after eventually reaching the front desk they did not have a booking as manager had given them the incorrect names and dates. Extremely unprofessional all around.

This is possibly the worst accommodation I have ever stayed at. Firstly there could have been more details address details as even our Uber did not know of apartments, simply adding to website go to the Radisson Blu and reception on the same floor to the left would have been extremely helpful. We are from Cape Town and do not know the area. Secondly reception was very poorly organized and managed to eventually get hold of manager who was elsewhere we managed to get our keys as they had incorrect booking. We zero information on restaurants etc. received. The noise from the mall next door is next level and there parties going on until 3am!!!!!!! I had to buy ear plugs for the second night. Even after phone calls to The Black Club and mall security nothing could be done about the music. I'm actually still in shock this was allowed to happen. Worst bed with awful high wooden legs so you keep on bumping into it when you walk around as room very small. The previous guests dirty clothing and stinky sneakers still in cupboards to greet us. No hand towel provided. Shower door opens out and mat too thick so you have to move it and drip all over floor before stepping on mat.

We loved almost everything about it. The unit has everything you need to make your stay feel like a home away from home. It is also in a prime location.

What you see on the pics is exactly what you get. It's clean, has a very comfy bed, and the kitchen has all sorts of equipment to use. The apartment is located a walk away from everything, so you don't have to use your car.

The fleece blanket was a bit musky and i had to throw it in the washing machine. We had to wait till 3pm to check in because the cleaners were still busy with the room.

Staying at Umhlanga Village – Ke Nako! was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Samantha’s hospitality was nothing short of incredible she went above and beyond to make me feel welcome, always accommodating with genuine warmth and care. It really felt like more than just a stay; it felt like being looked after by someone who truly wants you to enjoy every moment. The facilities themselves are top notch everything is thoughtfully set up, spotless, and designed to make life easy and comfortable. What really stood out for me was how versatile the space is: it’s an amazing place to focus and get work done when you need to, while still offering the perfect atmosphere to relax and have some fun when the day is done. All in all, this is a gem of a spot in Umhlanga a place I’ll happily recommend to anyone looking for the ideal balance of professionalism, comfort, and enjoyment. The bed is too soft not recommended for people with back aches.

The bedroom was very cramped. I kept hitting my knee on the bedposts. There was asmart TV but you needed to have your own DSTV streaming

The apartment was thoroughly enjoyable. The location is exceptional, right next to Oceans Mall, which made shopping and dining incredibly convenient. One of the standout features was the breathtaking view from the apartment. The space itself was comfortable, modern, and well-appointed, making it easy to settle in.

Due to the apartment’s central location near the mall, you may occasionally hear noise from supercars and music outside. This is more a reflection of the vibrant surroundings than anything to do with the apartment itself, but it’s worth being aware of if you're a light sleeper. There were also a couple of minor housekeeping and maintenance details, such as a few leftover items from previous guests and a couple of light bulbs that needed replacing, but these didn’t detract from an otherwise excellent experience.

Nice Views

Only downside of the property was the very loud sports cars racing around on the streets, and doing doughnuts on the top of the parking garage next door. It went on into the early morning hours which made it difficult to sleep.

Had the most relaxing weekend at Ke Nako. The views are to die for and the apartment was clean and tidy. The host went out of their way to make it special for us! Will definitely be booking here again.

Very well positioned, furnished and equipped apartment. Wonder views over the Indian Ocean and ideal to have the hotel facilitates at hand and covered parking.

Not much to comment on

I loved everything about this apartment. High end finishes and very comfortable, situated in the heart of umhlanga and minutes from the beach and promenade as well as lots of restaurants and shops etc. Spectacular views up the north coast and the balcony is protected from the prevailing wind. Staff in the building are really friendly and lovely and lifts work very well and come quickly. Very secure in the complex of the hotel and Bar, restaurant and pool facilities excellent.

The area can be noisy - had a lot of super car and motorbike revving going on during the period I was there.

Ambiance and location

There was music close by the hotel building that went on into the early hours of the morning each night. While this is not the apartment's fault, it was disruptive to our sleep.

Location was great, walking distance everywhere.

The unit was quite hot during the day and night, even when using the A/C unit. We think the Duvet was too thick, that is just our opinion. Also we understand the unit does face north. This was the only issue we had.

There is a bright flickering light from the smoke detector directly above the bed which is very disturbing in the dark and the TVs were too complicated to use.

The location was good , the room was good

We had a challenge with the lady at the help desk. It took a while to get the key, because she wanted to confirm with Sam and Sam wasn't picking up her calls. But eventually she gave us the key

Great location, within easy walking distance of the many excellent restaurants in Umhlanga. Free secure undercover parking. Easy process for booking in and staff were very friendly. Large comfortable room en suite, with separate well-fitted kitchenette, lounge area and outdoor balcony with sea views. Very good buffet breakfast with fresh fruit juices, fruit, well stocked continental option, and a cooked to order hot meal. Very good coffee.

I mistakenly booked into the apartments, which would be ideal for a long stay. In retrospect, however, the hotel rooms were cheaper and would have suited our purposes far better! During load shedding, there was no generator in the apartments, and consequently no airconditioning on a hot and humid Durban summer day!! I also did not read the small print and so did not take our DSTV smart card with us, which meant no TV service. Both of these problems would not have occurred if we had booked in to the hotel - my mistake!!

Overall it was a very nice setup and easy to use, etc. the flat/apartment was well equipped, well furnished and beautifully decorated. We had everything we could want or need for our stay. The location and the views.

For this trip we had nothing to complain about, bar the fact that the gym was not available (mixed comments from different staff).

The apartment is centrally located in Umhlanga and you can walk everywhere. The apartment is fully kitted with new appliances and furniture. The apartment itself is very quite and have great views over the sea. Easy communication and instructions from the host.

Location and space in the unit

It would be great in our Load shedding season that the consideration to instal an inverter would be amazing.

Everything inside the actual apartment was very nice and to a high standard. A pass to a nearby gym was very helpful and showmax account on the TVs was greatly apprecated.

For the first three days only one service elevator was functioning so it took an average of 20min every time you had to go up or down and you had to share this elevator with 15-20 other people stuffed inside. This was followed by a loud music festival that following weekend that had blasting DJ music until 3am for three nights in a row. The apartment looks directly down into the Oceans Mall plaza where parties like this are frequently held so keep this in mind. The AC did not work for the first 3 days either but the host kindly provided a fan. The apartmen twas a little smaller than we anticipated but still much better than a hotel room.
