Reviewed Aug 23, 2026Grand appartement très bien équipé avec 2 chambres séparées, 1 cuisine moderne, 2 WC et de la nourriture offerte. Propriétaire très serviable qui nous avait réservé notre restaurant du soir suite à notre demande (réservation par téléphone).
Attention aux poutres basses (fréquent au Japon). Assez cher par rapport à nos autres hébergements mais c'est sûrement le prix de la rareté à Shirakawa-go. D'autres personnes à côté ou à l'étage que l'on entend bouger (murs qui bougent), même si nous avons eu de la chance, ils n'étaient vraiment pas bruyants ! Donc pour notre part nous n'avons pas été gênés.

走進合掌村需要一點時間！但就是當散步吧！

Reviewed Aug 11, 2026È stato un soggiorno bellissimo, passare una notte qui ci ha dato modo di goderci una giornata tranquilla e di gironzolare per Shirakawa Go dopo gli orari di punta turistici. Way Shirakawago è una struttura molto accogliente, pulita dove poter restare in tutta tranquillità. Dista 10 minuti a piedi dalla fermata degli autobus ed è facilmente raggiungibile. Per visitare poi il villaggio patrimonio UNESCO ripercorrete al contrario la strada e in dieci minuti sarete alle porte del villaggio. Posizione ottima Pulizia ottima Staff ottimo Comunicazione con host ottima Tutto perfetto PS. Se vi fermate la sera a dormire potete approfittare del riso bianco e del curry da scaldare a microonde che la struttura mette a disposizione gratuita degli ospiti oppure camminare fino all' inizio del villaggio dove trovere IRORI ristorante tradizionale aperto fino alle 21 dove potrete gustare una cena tipica seduti a terra sui tatami.

La struttura era maltenuta, con i pavimenti sconnessi negli spazi comuni. La modalità self check-in non permette di interagire con l’host. Sono presenti cartelli e quaderni negli spazi comuni che danno consigli su cosa visitare e mangiare sul posto.

Comme il n'y a pas grand chose dans les alentours pour petit déjeuner et dîner tôt le matin ou trad le soir, les propriétaires ont l'extrême sympathie de mettre gratuitement à disposition des portions de riz, de plats déshydratés, de yaourts, de pain, de confiture, de lait et de café. Excellente pression dans la douche. La personne qui remet tout en ordre le matin avec qui on a petit déjeuné. Chambre vue sur la vallée, pas côté rue, donc calme. Prix raisonnable.
Rien. La cuisine fait un peu camp de base car c'est la partie qui n'a pas encore été rénovée et ré- aménagée avec la même qualité que les chambres ou les douches, mais il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour se dépanner en itinérant et se restaurer. "Work in progress", il faut laisser le temps aux choses de se faire.

L’hôte nous a mis à disposition de quoi manger et des bouteilles d’eau c’est une très jolie attention pour les personnes qui arrivent tard dans le village où tout ferme assez tôt. La vie est superbe, c’est très calme ! La maison est très propre. La climatisation est parfaite pour l’été qui est assez chaud ! La station de bus est à 5 min à pieds ! N’hésitez pas à louer!

Reviewed Jul 23, 2026The property is located about a 10 minute walk from the town, so after the day trippers leave, the town becomes very quiet and you can enjoy some time there and then walk back to your hotel. One challenge is that there are not many things open in the evening. The hosts do have a kitchen available in the one bedroom unit that we chose, so you can self cater, and they also have some food available for you to use. We were able to find a local restaurant a couple of minutes walk away and really enjoyed our meal. It’s definitely not made for tourists, but they did have things accessible in English and the food was good. You should be aware if you decide to stay overnight that all of the shops and restaurants in the town do close around four or 5 PM so it is very quiet in the evenings. The town is not really lit up so we went over briefly but then mostly spent our time at the small restaurant and back at the property. The property does abut a river and there is a small terrace outback so it was nice to sit there and relax for a bit as well. Air-conditioning works well. Beds are comfortable. I would recommend this if you are staying in the area, but do not want to stay in one of the properties in town.
The property really was fine. We weren’t quite sure what to expect when we arrived as it’s not the romantic gassho style houses that you come to see in this region, but once inside it was quite nice. I guess if you’re looking for more traditional or classic Shirakawago experience, this might not be the right choice. but for us, we were looking for a private toilet and a little more privacy for our family and kids so it worked out really well.

Walls are thin so might be abit difficult if you have excited kids that needs to settle down during quiet hours. Not so much a dislike just to be aware of for people with young kids.

Reviewed Jun 10, 2026A nice guesthouse in the non-historical part of Shirakawa-Go. The room was okay, even though the walls and wardrobe showed signs of aging. There was free food (one portion per day per person), which was necessary, because the restaurants inside the village close quite early. The toilet was clean and modern. The bedding was relatively soft for a futon. It is close to the historical town, however you do have to walk a bit (10-15 minutes) to get there. Nearby there is a combini (NOT open 24/7) and a gas station. The cost was low, however I didn't travel in the peak season in winter.
The owners a re very hands-off. The culminated in me never seeing them during my stay. You do an online check-in, get notified once your room is cleaned, and then you pick up your key in a box in the kitchen. However the access to these keys is not regulated at all. The door is left unlocked and anyone could technically use you room if they arrived before you. This might be more normal in Japan, however I still found it weird. The kitchen was alright, but the naked concrete floor combined with the run-down walls gave it a bit of an unclean vibe.

A limpeza! Dormimos no quarto com futon e o chão tinha muito pó , principalmente entre o tatami e as paredes. Para além do pó nessas zonas tinha muita sujidade. As zonas comuns também eram muito velhas e sujas. Aconselho a melhorar a limpeza! Foi o único grande ponto negativo

Que puis je faire de ma valise cassée ? Le frigo est plein de choses à cuisiner, librement et gratuitement mis à disposition ! On est à 10 minutes à pied du village classé Unesco. Alors oui, il y a de petits défauts, mais à ce prix là, ils font partie de l'expérience ! Grand merci !

Pour les futons, si on est jeune et léger ça va, mais ils étaient un peu dur pour mon dos. Dans les précédents Ryokan, il y avait une épaisseur de plus (matelas ?).

The best of the accommodation was outside. The kitchen requires serious cleaning and maintenance. The staff was either completely absent or avoiding. Staying for only one day was ok, but the rapport quality-price is quite unfair. It is clear they take advantage of the scarcity of accommodation in the area to offer the less possible for the maximum price. If you can stay somewhere else, I'll advise to.

Reviewed May 5, 2026It was clean and daily cleaning by staff during the morning, it provided us with food, toothbrushes, plenty of towels, view was great, The kitchen was also really big and 2 toilets for the 5 bed apartment!
The walls are a bit thin so you can hear neighbours or they can hear you, but it wasn't a problem for us.

Reviewed May 1, 2026The room is very cosy with a super nice futon bed and confy pillows. We got some amazing local ingredients from the local shop, so we could make our own Hida beef dinner. The common toilette is very clean! It is super nice to stay overnight, because the village can be very crowded during the day (day trips). After 4 pm you have the feeling that the whole valley and the village is yours. The landscape is amazing, and you can have some late evening dinner at a nearby Izakaya. We loved the cute hand-made info books at the table telling you all the stories about the surroundings and good cafes, eateries. Thank you for everything!

The bath and toilet is common for about 2 or 3 rooms - but honestly it wasn’t a problem for us, it was very clean every time

We could literally have breakfast, lunch n dinner without having to buy any food. They even provided facial cleanser! It is located very near the Shirakawago village - you could walk there if you like. Property is clean and is quiet.

Reviewed Apr 21, 2026A real gem! Traditional, warm, great facilities, homey, great gifts and amenities from the owner, handmade guides from the owner helped us enjoy his beautiful village. The view of the river from the bedroom is amazing. It made us wish we had more time here to just sit and evening and enjoy a homecooked meal in the property.
It’s a 15 minute walk from the bus station, which is a slog if you’re heavy laden with luggage, like we were. Nothing bad about the property itself, just a warning

Reviewed Apr 16, 2026Das Hsus ist einfach und funktional. Personal haben wir nicht gesehen, es war aber in unserer Abwesenheit aktiv. Die Verdsorgung mit Lebensmitteln war gut und ersparte das Einksufen. Im Ort gibt es kaum Auswahl. Eine feundliche Mail erreochte uns nach der Abreise. In Summe kann man dort mehrere Tage gut verbringen.
Die Küche und die Sanitärräume bedürfen eines upgrades. Dusche und WC entlüften in die Küche und der Fußboden in der Küche könnte gut ausgeglichen werden damit die Gäste nicht stolpern.

Ils laissent de la nourriture à disposition pour les personnes arrivant tard (car il n'y a pas vraiment de restaurants ouverts tard le soir). Nous étions en voiture et ils nous ont permis de rester garé chez eux le temps de notre visite. Le village n'est vraiment pas très loin, l'emplacement est super

L' ingresso e l'area comune sono migliorabili. Il mio compagno si è slogato una caviglia a causa del pavimento dissestato.. La strada per raggiungere la struttura dalla fermata degli autobus non è bellissima per i pedoni: passano auto e camion e non sempre è presente il marciapiede.

Reviewed Mar 29, 2026Die Lage war super, man konnte schnell zu den historischen Häusern laufen. Die Unterkunft war schön, es war ein traditionelles japanisches Haus. Es war super süß, dass einem Essen bereit gestellt wurde (z.B. fertig Curry und fertig Reis). Es gab auch selbstgebastelte Reiseführer für den Ort, was ich süß fand. Das Zimmer war schön, mit einem schönen Blick in die Natur, das Bett gemütlich.

The host anticipated this and he has lots of instant food available. We had our dinner eating the instant food. That was thumbs up. It is better to paved the short section between the house entrance and the pedestrian way. Suggest to have a usb charged motion sensor flash light (those lit for about 20 second upon sensing people moving, which is about 200 yen equivalent in HK) put in front of the toilet to facilitate us going to the toilet if need in the middle of the night as it is very dark and there is step drop with the living room area.
