The driveway

A very comfortable home with fabulous views and lots of different seating areas allowing plenty of space for everyone. Well equipped kitchen and efficient heating. A short walk into the city. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here and would definitely stay again.

The drive is a bit tricky, particularly if you have a larger size vehicle.

What a lovely, quiet hilltop location with huge views over the bay. It is a craftsman’s house with very comfortable living spaces and a beautiful outdoor terrace, which overlooks the ocean. Being able to have a fire at night with fresh logs was an added bonus.

We needed a better explanation as to where the actual rental unit is located (a small sign on the fence pointing downhill would’ve helped tremendously) as well as a better explanation as to how to heat the house. Those of us not familiar with “heat pumps” needed a short description about using the combo air conditioner/heater up on the wall with the remote and and a note about it being a few minutes before the heat starts up. The master bath is completely open to the bedroom area, so there is no privacy when using the toilet or tub. A simple curtain or according to across this opening would easily solve this issue. There’s also no shower in the master, only a deep bathtub (no shower curtain) that is quite difficult to get in and out of. Having only one trash bin upstairs in the shared bathroom was inconvenient.

Amazing access to all aspects of this beautiful Retro home with a view that could never disappoint. Clean, comfortable, welcoming; truly a home from home. Lovely sitting room with plenty of room for everything and everybody. Beautiful modern kitchen with everything you could want including superior coffee maker and pods. Immaculate bedding, bedrooms, furnishings and bathrooms. We would highly recommend this property.

We were happy everything here. Yes, the driveway is narrow but we were prepared as it’s in the blurb. Yes, it was chilly on arrival (July) but the heaters soon created a cosy kitchen diner and the living room has a beautiful fire place to back up the heater. It’s a shame we didn’t get a chance to test drive curling up in front of that.

Incredible views and a comfortable stay in a big heritage-looking house. The house is old, but the interior has been completely redone. It has everything you need for a lovely stay in Napier. If you're an international traveller, heads up that Kiwis call an air conditioning unit a 'heat pump'. That took us a minute to figure out.

The only thing to note is that the driveway is steep, and the entrance to the parking area is very narrow on the edge of a cliff. We were in a Toyota Rav 4, and we just squeezed through. So if you're travelling with a bigger car than that, you'd have a problem.

Rien tout était parfait. Le seul bémol c’est l’entrée pour la maison qui est étroite mais on avait une grande voiture il suffit juste d’y rentrer doucement.

The only thing I didn't like was the driveway, there is a section that is quite narrow with a steep drop off that gav me the kittens!

This property was absolutely gorgeous! The views were amazing, the house was perfect! So clean and tidy, had everything we needed and even more!

The driveway is steep but if you have someone to stand out the car and guide you up/down it is perfectly fine!

Great location overlooking the ocean and town. All your needs were met with a large clean kitchen and living spaces. Great stay and destination.

Scary driveway for large cars but def accessible enough, not for the faint hearted. Need to be fit to walk into town from this hilltop location.

The driveway is challenging to drive up and down in a bigger car, we nearly scratched the side of the car, no road parking either.

The location is exactly as described - and it is a fantastic view, complemented by the sound of the surf and abundant birdsong. The house is in excellent condition, well furnished, with an exceptionally well-equipped kitchen. The yard is well kept and neat. Close to the CBD with one of Napier's walking paths allowing direct access to the business district on foot. Furnishings are comfortable and the main level is nicely arranged. The master bathroom is an experience.

The driveway is a white-knuckle experience, but no worse than many a driveway in Napier (and most of the roads on Bluff Hill), but the parking at the bottom of the driveway is well-positioned and comfortable, with plenty of room to turn around. The laundry room cannot be accessed from inside the house. In the grand scheme of things, these are extremely minor.

Plug in the bath not working

The views are indeed spectacular, and the house is very roomy. Beds were all very comfortable, and a modern kitchen had everything we needed. The house was very clean and our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

The driveway (as warned) is very narrow and steep.

It was a very well stocked house, especially the kitchen. We had a great stay.

The beds were a bit uncomfortable for my tastes but I'm sure they would suit others.

Tout, c'était parfait. La.maison de nos rêves ! Merci pour cette belle découverte ! Leś lits chauffants , la baignoire dans la chambre avec vue sur l'océan... Le côté art déco on adore !!!

La wifi na pas fonctionné tout le temps et malgré la pièce tv qui est magnifique, la tv n'était pas connectée et quand on est français et que l'on comprends pas tout l'anglais, un bon Netflix aurait été la cerise sur le gâteau !

Amazing views. Plenty of space

Fantastic view! Wonderful charming old house. Loved all the features.

Unfortunately there was overflowing rubbish in the bin downstairs. Not sure if it was missed or from previous occupants. I would have let property owners know but phone wasn’t able to send calls. Otherwise everything else was great!

The lovely home and views

Amazing view, and an amazing loo! Great house for sharing with friends (two couples), plenty of space, well-equipped kitchen and outdoor grill for preparing meals. Very unique, cool house -- wish we had been able to stay longer!

Narrow, steep driveway to the property was a bit treacherous, but there was plenty of warning and instruction about this given prior to our arrival. And once there, it was a short walk to/from the city centre. Also, the entrance to the drive was hard to see from the main road; some additional information about where the drive is located would have been helpful.

The location was great and the view was indeed spectacular. The house is spacious and the outdoor space was wonderful. It is a short walk down a very steep hill to lots of restaurants and shops. The walk back up is very challenging.

The driveway is very steep and narrow and a challenge to fit through with an SUV.

Exceptional views from every window in this very comfortable, well presented house. We were so surprised by the quality of the house. It was an absolute treat to fall asleep to the sound of waves.

The driveway was difficult and a bit scary in parts.

The views from the house are absolutely stunning! 😍 We loved everything about the house. Make sure to bring your laptop or casting devices so you can let the kids enjoy there favorite shows on the TV whilst you and your partner are enjoying a cold one in the bath overlooking the city and beach. Be aware that the roads leading up the hill are quite narrow, and the driveway is extremely narrow as well. It can be quite dangerous if you're not a confident driver.

I've noticed a couple of minor issues I'd like to bring to your attention. The driveway is rather narrow, which can make it difficult to maneuver and park vehicles, especially for visitors who may not be familiar with the space. Also, the dryer doesn't seem to be spinning clothes to dry them; it's only heating them up so just hang them out on the line provided below deck. Apart from these minor issues I'm happy with everything else."

Great spot overlooking Napier and the entire bay. Host responded to a call immediately, in a pleasant and helpful way. A wonderful place.

Location was great, within walking distance or short drive to restaurants. View from the patio overlooking the shore, especially during sunset was excellent. Place was well equipped and felt like home.

The drive down or up the driveway to the house was very narrow so need to be careful not to scrape the side of the car. Dryer wasn't working and we have notified the host.

Difficulty getting the tv to operate, no instructions at the ready, luckily the weather was brilliant and we did not require it.

Wow, what a place, stunning views, well furnished, comfy beds, all the things we needed in the kitchen, having dinner on the deck overlooking the town. The view from the loo.would love to go back and sad to leave

The access road was steep and narrow for our suv but became a pro at navigating and the hill is a doozy to walk up but worth it. Laundry down some steep steps. If you have a toddler you will need to keep a very close eye on them but our teens were fine. Tv in living room only works with streaming service but kitchen one has freeview. We used living room as a quiet room and kids went in kitchen.

unfortunately the dryer did not work which was very inconvenient given we were there for a sporting event. Also wifi was terrible. access was pretty scary with a very narrow entry point which was very narrow if in a large vehicle. another small issue only 2 tee towels!

Spacious villa with amazing views. Dining and kitchen area had a tv so it was a good place to hang out. Lounge had fireplace which we used, had another area for taking in the views. Master bedroom had own suite with an amazing view. Rooms were made up nicely, beds comfortable and warm. The walkway to the shops is close and only 10mins. Comms with the owner was open and always helpful with questions. Would stay there again and again

I read the reviews about the driveway, so true. Abit scary when youre get close to the house but got used to it. Minor compared to the positives

The access driveway almost didn't allow us to fit our hire car in wothout damaging it. Scary.

The location on Bluff Hill was really handy. It's a very short walk to the War Memorial Conference Centre and many key attractions. And the property has fantastic views. It's a historic house with character and everything you need

Both the art deco house, spacious, elegant and cozy, and the views of Napier and the ocean were spectacular! Exceeded our expectations.

Absolutely stunning home, views where sensational ✨️ most definitely would love to stay again. Best part was the main room as it had the bath tub views.

The only down was the drive way. As both my car and my brother's car almost didn't make it down to the house due to it being a bit tricky to get down. But after a couple attempts we managed to get down and out safely

The driveway was not great was only told after booking that driveway was very narrow and steep. Was a very tight fit for our 4wd our son was gonna bring his large Ute down and would not of cleared the concrete wall at the bottom which means he would of not be able to park his car in the driveway. Maybe mention in description about vehicle sizing for driveway access.
