Reviewed Apr 23, 2026Prudence was there to assist with luggage and hand over the keys—very professional and kind. Mellisa, the host, was simply exceptional. She made our stay feel like a home away from home. Always available to assist, she was courteous, and it didn't feel like a transaction; she truly hosted us without intrusion. I was particularly grateful for the courtesy cake she sent through on my birthday, it was a generous touch!!

Reviewed Apr 2, 2026We had a wonderful stay at this holiday unit. It has everything you need, with modern finishes while still feeling warm and homely. The ocean views are absolutely breathtaking and truly make the experience special. We really enjoyed our time here and were sad to leave — but reality calls! We will definitely be back again. Highly recommended.

The host went above and beyond by surprising us with two birthday cakes to celebrate our special occasions – such a thoughtful gesture that made our stay even more memorable. The house itself is absolutely immaculate, beautifully maintained, and cleverly equipped with every amenity you could possibly need. It truly felt like a home away from home. A special mention must go to Prudence, who was incredibly accommodating and attentive throughout our stay. Her warmth and helpfulness added so much to the overall experience. We loved every moment of our time at Shaka’s Rock and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a perfect getaway in Ballito

Reviewed Dec 22, 2025The apartment is in a great location with direct access to the private beach and close to popular restaurants. It has new finishes throughout the apartment and a great holiday home. The host Mel was so pleasant and accommodating and made sure all our needs were attended too.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2025This apartment was absolutely breathtaking!! The view is incredible. Mel the host was available for any questions, she was so accommodating and added the most brilliant touches, like two bottles of sparkling wine as a gift because our cleaning lady told her there was a bottle in the fridge, that is just unbelievable. Fresh bottled water every time the apartment was cleaned and beach towels which one doesn't normally get.... blown away!!!
Location in approximitty to shops and restaurants for young teenage boys wasn't great. They have the best malls and strips malls but you need to drive or Uber. Not the end of the world.

Reviewed Apr 16, 2025Good size rooms. Clean. Beachfront accommodation. Secure when electricity is stable. Everything you need in a home was catered for. Appliances etc, in good working condition.Excellent experience altogether. We had a wonderful time. Will go back definitely.
It’s great but there’s always room for improvement. The lack of backup power during power outages could make the stay even better. The gates stopped working which poses a security risk.

It's no big deal but, there's no coffee making facilities and although there is a dishwasher, there's no product supplied to clean the dishes.

Check-in from 14:00, we arrived at 15:30 and unit wasn't ready. Check-out is indicated as 9:00 to 10:00, received message to leave by 9:00 or earlier the eve before we left.

Cleaner arriving at 8am for a 10am checkout.It can be a bit uncomfortable to have someone in your space while you still clearing up.
