Man sollte wissen dass man vor Ort nicht so gut baden kann (in der Nebensaison), da im August die Strömung vor dem Hotel zu gefährlich ist. Ein paar Badutensilien wie zB Föhn wäre toll gewesen. Zum Baden empfehlen wir den Kai Club in Weligama.

We had an incredible two-night stay at Blue Waves Surf House in Ahangama. We stayed in the beautiful Sea View Room and the view was absolutely amazing — waking up to the ocean was a real highlight of our stay. The accommodation is modern, beautifully designed and spotlessly clean, and the staff were genuinely wonderful. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming and helpful, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We visited during the off-season, but we enjoyed our stay so much that we’ll definitely be coming back during surf season. Highly recommend Blue Waves Surf House — we can’t wait to return!

The property is a little further out of town, which we actually really enjoyed as it gave us a peaceful and relaxing setting away from the busier areas. Transport into town is very easy to arrange whenever needed.

I would really recommend this stay. The staff at the reception and at the cafe were very kind! I very appreciated also the breakfast! There is a nice cozy chill area at the ground floor. I also took part to one evening yoga class and it was lovely practicing outdoor next to the sea!

The hotel is modern and has a lovely view and the staff are really kind and let us stay a little later than check out so that we could go to the beach in the morning and go for lunch! I would definately come back. The breakfast was also great

The air con wasn’t amazing

J’ai passé un excellent séjour au sein de Blue Waves Surf House Beach Hotel. 3 nuits dans une chambre face à la mer et bercé par le bruit des vagues, un pur bonheur. Situé à 5 min en tuktuk ou 15 à 20 minutes du centre d’Ahangama, cet hôtel offre un havre de paix et calme. Non loin également de Midigama et Weligama, il est facile de s’y rendre, à pied comme en tuktuk. Ma chambre était spacieuse pour une personne seule et très propre (le ménage était effectué quotidiennement). Tous les jours, vous êtes informés, par WhatsApp, des activités du jour suivant telles que du yoga face à la mer, des ice batch (merci Marta (Mardi) de m’avoir convaincu d’essayer) ou des lessons de surf. Tous les vendredis, il y a des sessions de musiques lives et pleins d’autres activités organisées notamment dans le restaurant de l’hôtel. The Jungle, ledit restaurant offre d’excellents choix de nourriture pour un brunch et le soir (vous recevrez à l’avance le menu de la semaine) et leur café est super bon. Le petit-déjeuner est également disponible et se compose de deux options, sucrée et salée, accompagné d’une boisson chaude, de fruits et d’un granola. Le personnel au complet est très professionnel, disponible et aimable. Merci d’avoir rendu mon séjour si agréable et reposant.

The surf spot

Complete lack of flexibility and commercial judgment. Despite exceptional circumstances (war in the Middle East preventing one guest from traveling), the hotel refused any adjustment, even for clearly unused services. Additionally, the property is literally on the main busy road, it is extremely noisy due to constant road traffic (24/7), and the doors and windows are poorly insulated — definitely not a place to stay if you are looking to rest. Breakfast lacked variety, exactly the same every day, which quickly became quite dull.

Manque de confort dans la chambre, nuits tres courtes, très forte luminosité très tôt le matin, voilage au lieu de rideaux et pas du tout opaques, bruit de la route qui est une espèce de pénétrante avec plusieurs voies, soit la route principale menant à Ahangama, bruyante 24/24, comme si les voitures passaient dans la chambre. Chambre très basique, aucun thé ni café à disposition alors qu’il y’en a dans tous les hôtels de l’île. Accès mer difficile, pas de piscine. 150$ pour 2 sessions d’une heure de surf, Une activité qui bien sur a été proposé sans prix annoncé, sachant qu’une session surf doit coûter approx 15$ sur l’île. On paie le prix du concept, alors qu’on pourrait trouver des hôtels d’une qualité bien meilleure à la place, je ne recommande donc pas.

Wunderschöne Lage, tolle Aussicht vom Zimmer und super nettes Personal! Vermutlich bedingt durch die Lage direkt am Meer, gab es auffällig wenige Mosquitos, was sehr angenehm war.

Etwas mehr Stau- und Ablagemöglichkeiten im Zimmer für Kleidung, etc. wären insb. bei längeren Aufenthalten wünschenswert.

Das Zimmer mit Meerblick bietet einen traumhaften Ausblick. Das Hotel liegt wunderschön direkt am Meer, und von allen Bereichen aus hat man einen tollen Blick auf das Wasser. Alles war sehr sauber und gepflegt. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und vielfältig. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Besonders gefallen hat uns das große Angebot an Aktivitäten wie Surfunterricht, freies Surfen, Yoga und Eisbaden. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

Lage war super und es gab viele Möglichkeiten den Aufenthalt persönlich zu gestalten. (Surfen,Yoga, Cafe, Relax) Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

This was our second stop on our Sri Lanka trip and wow we absolutely loved it at Blue Waves. The views from the bedroom and falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing was just perfect! We also recommend the surf lessons from the team. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly. Facilities were great and location was close by to local restaurants and bars. Can’t wait to return 🏄🏽‍♀️

Das Hotel an sich und die Ausstattung sind sehr schön.

Wir haben das Hotel gebucht um unsere surfing skills zu verbessern und das Programm zu nutzen. Leider wurden unsere Erwartungen hier überhaupt nicht erfüllt. Es ist alles sehr unstrukturiert und die Zeiten der Surfstunden werden erst am Abend davor kommuniziert. Viele Stunden erst ab 10 wenn die meisten Leute auf dem Board sind. Hinzu kommt, dass eine Stunde in der Gruppe (bei uns 4-6 Personen) 65€ gekostet hat. Extrem teuer und mit Guides die nicht mal richtig englisch konnten. Auf dem Video Material waren dann nicht mal die Versuche, sondern nur die Wellen die komplett gesurft wurden. Fokus lag hier mehr darauf die eigenen Freundinnen zu filmen. Nachdem während unseres Aufenthaltes nur einmal das Eisbaden angeboten wurde und Yoga auch ausgefallen ist (15€ zusätzliche). Wollten wir den Tag im schönen Außenbereich nutzen. Meisten sind die Liegen hier aber von externen Leuten besetzt die einfach die Anlage nutzen, was auch nicht kontrolliert wird.

La vue de puis notre chambre était sublime, le diner sur place était délicieux avec des poissons parfaitement cuisinés, les petits déjeuners sur la terrasses, la décoration si jolie et le personnel agréable et serviable. Nous recommandons fortement.

Pour le dîner ou petit déjeuner le serveur nous pressait un peu, pas très agréable

- Location was amazing to have the ocean view both out of your room and whilst chilling in the day on the beanbags (v comfy!!!) - The room is really clean and shower is powerful which was very welcome after a few weak showers!

- The road noise from our room was loud - some noise is expected given the location but there’s very little insulation from the doors which meant you woke up at 5:45 as the bakery van went down the road. - It feels like its not sure between a hostel and a hotel. The price is high yet the experience leans more hostel style - the dinner is only available as a “community” meal but beyond that there wasn’t much effort to create a real sense of community unless you are on the package where they are clearly in their group - The add-ons like surf lessons and yoga are also priced quite high compared to similar places nearby. - The cafe is a good spot with great coffee (apparently a champion barista!) with amazing food but what’s included in the breakfast is very basic rather than whats available in the cafe

al momento della prenotazione è chiaramente indicato che l'importo verrà saldato al momento del check in. eppure appena fatta la prenotazione l'hotel richiede un pagamento esterno a booking tramite link. sinceramente è una cosa inaccettabile. inoltre il rapporto qualità prezzo è scadente, siamo in sri lanka e non a dubai e la qualità non è allineata al prezzo

We loved the balcony overlooking the surf break and the proximity to Devils Rock surf break. On the outskirts of town but east to get friendly tuk tuk rides out the front. Fantastic surf lessons/guiding. Mathi, Avi and Jay were fantastic especially with my kids.

No tea/coffee facilities in the room and brekkie/cafe doesn’t open until 8 am. Would love a few more drink/snack options for the evening sunset sessions and music to improve atmosphere.

Loved everything about this place, super nice and very clean rooms, friendly staff and great food. Location is perfect, a Little bit outsider hustle and bustle of Ahangama, perfect distance to walk to couple of local restaurants.

The property was the most beautiful honeymoon place we could have wished for, staff went above and beyond, the sea view from the hotel room made the stay and was out this world. The speciality coffee in the on site cafe / restaurant was absolutely A* and really enjoyed the in house breakfast and also the on menu breakfast. Thankyou all for an incredible stay - we will be coming back, cant recommend this place enough!!!!

If I’m being picky, I’d have loved a mini fridge in the room to keep our water cold, but that’s me being picky! Great job guys keep up the hard work.

El ambiente, el personal, el bar, la zona de relax, la habitación y las vistas. La verdad que es un hotel para quedarte una semana y estar a gustisimo. Además tienen una comunidad y planes que dan gusto. Diría que de lo mejor que hay por ahí. Ah y se ven tortugas desde el hotel muy fácilmente

La única pega que se puede poner, por ser quisquilloso, por la ventana se cuelan bichillos y el baño las puertas no se cerraban

Wunderschönes, sauberes Hotel direkt am Meer! Unser Zimmer mit Meerblick war wirklich perfekt und es war nachts nicht zu laut. Das Frühstück war auch unglaublich lecker. Man kann von den Zimmern sogar Schildkröten sehen! Wir haben eine Nacht verlängert, weil es uns so gut gefallen hat ☺️

We absolutely loved Blue Waves Surf House. The views from the room were absolutely amazing, the breakfast was amazing as well and the staff very nice and friendly. The location was also great and we really enjoyed the yoga class organized by the property.

This hotel is just incredible! Everything was spotless and beautifully maintained, and the whole team made us feel completely at home from the very first moment. Every staff member was so kind and welcoming, always with a smile and happy to help with anything we needed. The facilities are fantastic It truly felt like a little piece of paradise. We loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to come back!

The only thing that could be improved is the breakfast, as it was always the same and lacked variety. But overall, everything about our stay went beyond expectations, and we’d definitely love to come back!

We stayed three nights at Blue Waves, a spectacular place with beautiful views, a peaceful atmosphere, and a staff always ready to help with anything you need. Breakfast was delicious, and the sea-view rooms were absolutely amazing.

Location : perfect for surfing, surfboards for rent and a lovely spot just in front of the hotel. The rooms were perfect, super clean, nice and comfortable. The best part: the staff, everyone was super nice and accommodating. We will be back ! Thank you Ashan, Esther and the rest of the team!

The location is perfect....the staff was wonderful and the room was to die for....spectacular sunsets right on the water...falling asleep to the waves is a dream come true.

Incredible location with amazing views and calm surroundings - in my room with a sea view you could only hear the waves and nothing from other rooms or other noise. The room was beautiful and functional and the activities were well organized. It's quite a small hotel so the atmosphere is very relaxed with not too many people around.

A bit on the pricey side - although you get a lot for the money. :)

The location is probably the best I have ever seen. I was in a king room facing Devil's rock and the view was stunning: going to bed and waking up with the sound of the sea it's worth the trip. I have enjoyed a lot both morning and sunset yoga classes with Ele and Alas, beautiful souls - unfortunately I don't think the managers keep the same instructors. The staff at the bar and even more Ashan at the reception really made the difference in making my stay great: they are the nicest. Food is also really nice. I agree with other comments flagging that a bit more variety for breakfast would be a nice touch, but to be honest I was extremely satisfied with it.

While the room was great, there were some issues in the building (water leaking/humidity) and considering the premium positioning amd price point of the hotel this really needs fixing. While I was there the location was used for some models shooting which I found a bit disruptive. I didn't have the best experience with Surf classes personally: I am very beginner and I found it not as organised as in other surf camps I have been and more expensive. I would probably recommend the location to people who are already experienced. The hotel manager never really sent me the videos in the end and in the video analysis he was giving very different inputs from what the instructors where sharing during the classes so I found it quite confusing. As mentioned, food is great, but dinner is very expensive for what it offers and the owners don't connect much with the guests so I am not sure why they want it to be a "community" dinner.

The property is undoubtedly very good and well equipped, but pricy.

Compared to other properties, it is in my opinion overpriced (e.g. dinner for 18$, you get usually a fabulous local dinner for less than 5$, surf lessons in a group for 60$, you'll get a good private surf coach for 20-25$).

The hotel is really beautiful with a great style. Our room had the most amazing view, it was large, clean and we had a nice private balcony. Facilities at the hotel are really nice and the breakfast is wonderful. Best thing about the hotel is the amazing people working there. Special thanks to Podi, Thesu, Bathi, Thamal, Bashi, Sawi and Owinda for making our stay a wonderful experience.

It is located in an amazing location, the most beautiful views I have ever seen! We stayed in a room facing the ocean and it felt like a dream every day - you sleep with the sound of the waves literally. But you have beautiful views from the entire property, you can see and feel that everything was really nicely thought. If you are looking to surf, there is a wave right in front of the hotel, suitable for beginners. The staff is really friendly! Asham (?) was really kind and always eager to help us - there was even one day I cut myself in the reef and he was the one indicating us which medical center to go and making sure I had the best care. We booked the Yala National Park Safari via the hotel and it was a really good experience as well. The breakfast is an absolute 10 out of 10, I was always excited about it! Overnight oats with homemade granola and shredded coconut, fruit, honey, eggs and toast with smashed avocado and tomatoes. Ahangama is in my opinion also the best area to be in the south coast of Sri Lanka.

Nothing to note really, it was an amazing stay. The only thing could be that if you are planning to have dinner at the hotel, it is expected that you join the family/community dinner which was not our preference. The room had everything you needed and it was overall quite clean but there were a few days when we noticed a few stains in the bedsheets, nothing major at all

Everything about Blue Waves made for an excellent experience. Nico and Eleonora did an amazing job of "hosting" everyone, helping people feel included and organizing the staff to make sure all guests were comfortable and had what they needed. Access to the beach and Sion made surfing and swimming a breeze. Waking up with that incredible view was amazing :)

Only thing that could have been better was a bit of variety at breakfast. Gets a bit boring after a week.

The location is the bast! Breakfast was really nice, the room and the space is comfortable with everything you need.

We tried contacting the property before as we landed very late to say we will arrive at night, there was no answer and at the end of our stay they charged us more for this.

The room had only sheer curtains which makes it difficult in the morning, plus during the night you can see the lights coming from the cars. Also a fridge in the room is missing. Room was clean and had basics but I don’t think is worth to pay 160 USD per night for what you get. I guess mostly this applies to all the properties in Ahangama which are charging crazy European and American prices for basic services, which doesn’t justify it

1. The tap in our room was leaking the whole time and no one fixed it 2. Hot water stopped on day 2 and it didnt get fixed 3. The fan in our room was not working on day 1 4. We ate the same breakfast for 3 days, could really do with variety 5. The cafe had very little options for food

This is a recently renovated hotel and it’s beautifully done out… simple, chilled and elegant. Love the views and feeling of the room.

Nothing not to like ! It is next to the main road but once in my room, the sound of the ocean meant I didn’t even notice it.

What can I say? Feeling at home is the best way to describe Blue Waves Surf House. Leo, Adela, Noah, and the entire staff didn't just play the role of hosts; they became our friends. The room exceeded our expectations, always clean and offering a breathtaking view. We started each day with an amazing and generous breakfast, filled with conversations with Leo, Adela, or playful moments with Noah. Leo gave us surf lessons, and we learned so much from him; he is not only well-prepared but also a fantastic teacher who shares his passion for surfing. We enjoyed a wonderful BBQ fish dinner (I’m still dreaming of the Mahi Mahi) where we shared stories, passions, and parts of our lives. Additionally, the area is well connected, allowing us to visit nearby cities. They arranged for us to rent a scooter, and there was always a tuk-tuk driver available to take us around. Even though it was the off-season when we were there (we will definitely come back!), we had an amazing time! They stayed with us until the very last minute before we left. See you soon, guys! The location is fantastic! The rooms were very clean and the service was great. Ashan in particular was very helpful.The food was really delicious although they did not have too many options.Would definitely return for the spectacular view!

We really enjoyed the view, the rooms were spacious and the breakfast was awesome. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, they made everything to make us feel like home.

There were some issues in the room like leaking toilet and leaking AC however the staff was very helpful and accommodated us quickly.
