The Hosteller Goa, Old Goa

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at The Hosteller Old Goa was disappointing enough that I feel future guests should be aware. The property is clearly suffering from a lack of maintenance and management attention. During my stay I encountered multiple issues, including poor cleanliness, inadequate upkeep of the facilities, and an overall feeling that the hostel is not being properly managed. Rather than enjoying my time, I found myself constantly dealing with avoidable problems. Communication with the staff was also inconsistent. Several concerns were raised during my stay, yet very little seemed to improve. After leaving, I even contacted the management directly with detailed feedback in the hope that they would address the shortcomings, but unfortunately the overall impression remained one of neglect rather than genuine concern for the guest experience. The location itself has potential, but potential alone is not enough. A hostel should provide a clean, safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment, and in my opinion this property currently falls well below that standard. I sincerely hope management takes guest feedback seriously and invests in improving the maintenance, cleanliness, and overall quality of the hostel. Until then, I cannot recommend staying here.

Peaceful location, near to a river , No Noise pollution . Good and clean bed. Housekeeping staff cleans up the rooms and washrooms daily. Free Wifi connection also pretty decent.

Very far from city. Own vehicle will be a necessity if visiting this part of Goa especially during the monsoon season.

Had a wonderful stay at this hostel. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. One of the highlights was the balcony, which provided a great place to relax and unwind. The air conditioning worked perfectly, making the stay pleasant even during warm weather. The restroom was well-maintained, hygienic, and equipped with all the essentials. Parking facilities were also convenient and hassle-free. Overall, the property offers excellent value for money with good amenities and a comfortable atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and I look forward to visiting again.

Location was a bit outside the main city but one can rent a two wheeler and navigate easily. The complete property was very clean, the room, common area, swimming pool. My recommendation: There can be cafe inside the hostel.

Pas de petit déjeuner servi dans l'hôtel. Le restaurant n'existe plus. Arrêt de bus (indispensable) situé au pied de l'hôtel. WiFi OK. Ventilateur et AC OK. 10 mn en bus pour aller sur le site central du vieux Goa, cathédrale et basilique. Prix modique des tickets de bus.

Les avis décrivant l'hôtel ne sont plus d'actualité car plus rien ne correspond : pas de restaurant, obligation de prendre le bus pour aller au restaurant le soir. Un accueil déshumanisé car tout est digital d'où de nombreux problèmes car le paiement en cash n'est pas accepté. Des difficultés pour savoir si la réservation était vraiment confirmée. L'établissement nous demandait de payer avant notre arrivée (3 messages chaque jour sur notre messagerie). Pas d'interlocuteur au téléphone. Quand nous avons voulu réserver de France, notre CB était refusée...Mystère.

building was nice, the food from the cafe was nice (but really slow and a bit chaotic arriving!). lockers under the bed were nice and spacious and bunk beds felt quite private with curtains and helpful having the bed storage hanger. rooms with security code felt secure, unless the WiFi went down..

might have been a bit of a language barrier but there was a lot of confusion and made things a bit difficult! the WiFi went down for a while meaning we couldn't get into the rooms as couldn't access the app for the code. the pool area was really nice but quite dirty - big pile of empty drinks bottles and crisps packets with loads of ants, even though it says no outside drink on site, and smelt quite bad. also not many taxi's in Old Goa so found it difficult getting to Paniji and other places. people came into our room really late and night and proceeded to come in and out of the balcony, listening to their phone really loudly and chatting, keeping a few of us up really late

Restaurant aan fluiting. Wat we wilden was er niet na dik uur wachten nog niet ontvangen. Blijkbaar was men de bestelling vergeten. Ook nog het niet bestelde gebracht dus verkeerde eten Verder ongezellig leeg hok .

The rcepetionist refused to let me check in normally by providing my passport and payment with card/cash, and pressured me to download app, scan QR code with my phone, follow multiple prompts through two different whatsapp numbers etc. Finally, they "did me a favor" and jumped through all these burdensome hoops that they created, and checked me in. The process was needlessly aggrevating, argumentative, destructive of confidence and brand image, and time consuming for me and staff. My only explanation for why they orient check in this way, is that they want to skim data off your phone/accounts etc.

L'hôtel est neuf, très propre

Le formulaire à remplir en arrivant est bien long et le site bug ! La nuit fut très bruyante à cause des clients. Enfin il faut s'armer de patience pour obtenir un petit déjeuner ou un repas....Bref une mauvaise étape !

Es war ein toller Aufenthalt. Die Lage ist zwischen Panaji und Old Goa direkt bei einer Bushaltestelle. Die Zimmer sind sehr komfortabel und gut ausgestattet. Man kann direkt online diverse Dinge bestellen wenn mal etwas ausgeht oder wenn man etwas ausgewechselt haben möchte. Sogar ein super sauberer Pool, eine Dachterrasse und ein kleines Restaurant gehören dazu.

Only 1 bathroom for 8 people in a dorm. I felt quite unsafe because of a very undecent approach by one of the male dorm guests. That's why I left the place after 1 night, although I had booked and paid for 3 nights. Of course, no refund available...

Fantastic overall. Female dorm was well designed. Beds are well equipped with lockable storage, charging points, reading light and a curtain. Whole hostel spotlessly clean. Great little pool. Nice cafe Bus stop is right outside. Best security of any hostel I visited in India. Dorm rooms had keypad entry. Loved this. Super friendly and helpful staff.

I left this hostel without staying. I hated the place when informed of the entirely computerized methods of payment, down to ordering a cup of tea. the hostel is located in the middle of know where, 7 km from Paneji and 2.2 from Old Goa. Taxi’s r expensive, there r no restaurants to speak of. When shown my room, I thought it smelled of sweaty feet, so I just decided to leave, even though I’d paid. I couldn’t imagine staying even one night.

The rooms were very clean and nice, and the staff was very friendly.

The view was disappointing. We booked expecting the open-air view shown in the photos and paid extra for it, but our room only had a basic street view. It seems only one or two rooms actually have the view shown online, while most look onto the street or directly into another building. This feels misleading — please update the room photos to reflect the real views

Staff are helpful and friendly. Room is clean and neat. Its restaurant serves tasty local food with good price.

Facilities and staff service is good.

But someone stole my cash and informed the property owner and changed the room. The same guy from Gujarat stole few more people money and mobile. Poor action taken by the hosteller management.

Hosteller is one of the best hostel chains in the country. It does feel luxurious in a way. Apart from reasonable stays, hosteller has access to a lot of shared amenities like pool, library, dining space etc. It's perfect for a budget trip

Beautiful place!! So relaxing and a mind blowing view with an awesome pool!!!

Room was so spacious, with a lovely balcony. Aircon worked well. Smooth check in and great pool, games available, common spaces.

The attached restaurant wasn't great, the food didn't look like the pictures advertised at all. Location was tricky, in a bit of a dead zone and a very long walk to town.

Location is a 20-30 min walk to the sights if you dont have a car/scooter, but thats obvious from the map

A little bit out of the way, but regular bus services to Panjim. The worst part was the digital door locks! Un/fortunately there was always someone in the room as I was constantly being locked out, or opening the door for someone else! "Tech is not always a good thing!!" Also 1 shower/toilet combo in an 8 bed dorm? An additional toilet in the hallway would've been beneficial.

The property is fine, clean, beds comfortable. Nothing bad to say. It was my first stay in a Hosteller Hostel. For me, personally, I didn't like it so much. Because it has this clean, capitalistic vibe. No soul. I try to avoid these places. It is ok to stay, but not a place to feel good or at home.

The rooms are really nice and the food was decent. The system of ordering food was good and rest of the facilities were good. The hotel is close to old goa's major landmarks and is, therefore, quite well located.

The hotel is modern, comfortable, just a short bus ride from the Old Goa Centre. The staff is kind and helpful. Nice swimming pool and breakfast were a nice addition to the whole thing.

Brand new hotel with attractive prices, very nice rooms and a great staff! Everything is modern (maybe too much but thats the vibe!) but you feel comfy and it is all very clean and nice. The pool is really great ! The restaurant was okay! Bus stop just next to the hotel with loads of buses going in both ways so you can easily reach panaji or vieux goa!

You need your phone to open your room and to take food at the restaurant for breakfast, if you are not used its strange but completely manageable, dont worry and lets go!,
