very beautiful and well-maintained property. The host family is super friendly — we especially enjoyed the shared dinners and the conversations/exchange with them.”
Truly one of the best and most wholesome stays I’ve ever had. The family is welcoming, the place is surrounded by nature, I really enjoyed trekking with the host and having their children and pets around. Please choose this place if you are ever in Sapa.
Excellent location, great host, delicious breakfast included, incredible scenery, Grab connection

We had a great time at the H'mong Eco House and would have extended our stay if it had been possible. The house itself is comfortable, the hosts are more than welcoming and the food (breakfast and dinner, we tried different options) is delicious. Taking one the offered hikes is also recommended: In addition to great views of the breathtaking landscape we got much information about the culture and plants of the valley.

Beautiful bamboo home in the most beautiful location

A lovely, friendly, relaxed atmosphere. A perfect place for hiking in the hills around Sa pa. Fantastic value for money.
Sehr empfehlenswert.
Alles war super. Tolle Gastgeber bei den wir schlafen durften. Abends gemeinsam gegessen. Auf Essenswünsche wurde Rücksicht genommen. Mitten im Reisfeldern, sehr ruhige Lage. Sehr sauber
Chu and Thu are the best hosts you could imagine. Chu took us on a hike and explained lots of interesting things about local flora and past and present life in the valley. At the dinners, which were among the best we had in Vietnam, we had interesting conversations, happy water, played music, and became friends. We stayed for 5 nights (which seems to be on the longer end of the usual), but we enjoyed the calmness and nature every day and did lots of hiking, walking and relaxing on the nice terrace. There is lots of places with extremely high reviews on Vietnam, but this one absolutely deserves it. The village in the valley offers everything you need (pharmacy, snacks, restaurants) and Grab comes there, so you don’t need to worry about that at all.
Be aware that you are in a simple house in the village, where animal sounds may wake you up in the morning.
This was our favourite place that we have stayed in Vietnam and the perfect end to our trip travelling from South to North. We stayed for 4 nights but wish that we could have stayed for so much longer! The couple who own the homestay made us feel so welcome and having dinner each night with them and the other guests was really special. Breakfast was lovely and the coffee is really good too! The rooms are beautiful and the beds are super comfy! Chu also offers a full day trek which was an amazing experience and I would 100% recommend and there are also AllTrails walks nearby. The homestay is in a small village where there is everything you might need so there is no need to go into the town if you don’t want to and you can also hire a moped if you want to go further afield. Thank you so much for our stay and we hope to be back someday!
Everything was perfect!
Extremely friendly, accommodating hosts who made us feel very welcomed. The property was lovely; great views from the balcony and patio, comfortable bed, charming wooden building, and breakfast included every morning was great! The hosts, Tu and Chu, took us on a multi hour trek up into the mountains, told us about local life, traditions and we got to see some amazing hidden gem views. It was a highlight of our entire Vietnam trip. Great time in H’mong Eco House! Couldn’t recommend it more!
Only one shared washroom (although clean and modern). The walls/ceiling aren’t very soundproof, so at night you need to be mindful of your noise level, or other guests might hear you.
We LOVED this homestay. We enjoyed getting to know the family, who were extremely hospitable, cooked very nice food & looked after us very well. The property was very clean and spacious, exactly as shown. We did the trekking which was fantastic and enjoyed learning about the culture and lifestyle in Sapa. We also did the traditional H’mong Batik painting workshop in the village which we really enjoyed and would recommend! Overall we had a wonderful time and only wish we could have stayed for longer.
Nothing!
An Authentic and Soulful Escape in Lao Chai We chose to stay in Lao Chai Village instead of the bustling center of Sapa, seeking a tranquil retreat surrounded by nature and it was exactly what we hoped for. This homestay offers a genuine connection with the host family in a simple, rustic setting. The Experience & Location The property is nestled right among the terraced rice fields by the river. Waking up to the fresh air and enjoying a home made breakfast on the spacious terrace was a highlight of our trip. The surroundings are incredibly peaceful, shared with free-roaming chickens, friendly well-behaved dogs, and even the occasional water buffalo wandering nearby (surprisingly, with no unpleasant odors at all!). Facilities & Services While the accommodations are simple—featuring cozy bedrooms with tea-making facilities and clean, 24-hours shared showers and toilets, the hospitality is exceptional. We highly recommend opting for a small extra fee for the home-cooked dinner prepared by the family; it was delicious and authentic. The hosts also offer guided trekking tours around the village mountains, which we found very rewarding. A Note for Travelers Please keep in mind that this is not a 5-stars luxury resort. The true value of staying here depends on your intellectual curiosity and appreciation for the environment. If you have a genuine interest in nature, the local culture, and the wisdom of the ethnic minority communities, you will find this place incredibly special. As a couple who values cultural immersion, we found our stay to be deeply fulfilling and beyond reproach.
Nothing at all!
The location was amazing, such a beautiful place and the dinner was amazing!!
it was quite a drive away from the centre of sapa, but an amazing experience with the locals
The Hosts Chu and Thu are extremely friendly. We spent three nights there and looked forward to the delicious dinner with the family every evening. We had a very good time with them. They helped us book a bus and a transfer. The region is very beautiful and we felt very comfortable in the accommodation. It was a little bit cold in Sapa but the blankets were warm enough.

Tutto decisamente tutto.
Great beautiful place to stay! The hosts were so sweet, made fantastic food and were very accommodating. It’s such a unique property that they built themselves! All 7 of the people in our group thought it was amazing! It was one of my friends birthday and the hosts surprised us with a cake! It’s open concept so can get a bit chilly at night but the bathroom is newly renovated and the beds have warmers. It’s located in the valley which some cars can’t access as the roads are very unpaved but some grab drivers are willing to come down, and it’s so worth it! There is a delicious and ridiculously cheap restaurant just down the road. Fantastic place to stay for the local vibe of the H’mong village.
This place is really beautiful. We only booked for 1 day but end up staying for 3 days. The location is perfect, in which you can hike by yourself or with a guide. Also the breakfast is so good.

Fint og sjarmerende!
Comfortable accommodation with wonderful welcoming hosts! Thu and Chu are really lovely people and we enjoyed learning about their life and the village of Lao Chai. The homestay was very peaceful and we loved sharing a delicious home cooked meal every night. We also did a great day trek with Thu as our guide which was spectacular and very rewarding! We highly recommend staying here - they are fabulous hosts.
What a great experience! We loved this homestay so much and we were sad to live. From breakfast in the morning, cooked fresh every day, to the family dinner in the evening, everything was just perfect.
The great location , the ambiance of the house and surrounding . Really felt like staying at someone’s house with the comfort of a bed and breakfast . The most lovely owners!
Our stay at Mông Eco House in Tả Van was one of the most meaningful experiences of our entire trip through Vietnam. It’s not just a homestay — it’s a doorway into Hmong culture, hosted by a family that truly wants to share their way of life. The Hmong are one of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities, with their own language, clothing, traditions, and worldview. Their lives are deeply tied to the mountains, the land, and community. Spending time here gave us a rare and valuable insight into that — something that should be treated with respect and not taken for granted. Zhu and his family were warm, generous, and deeply welcoming. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable, and despite being in a remote mountain village, the level of comfort was high. They always offered us water, tea, or fruit without us having to ask. Every meal was prepared with care and full of local ingredients and more then generous amounts — and of course “happy water,” shared with a smile. They helped with everything we needed — organizing treks with local Hmong guides, arranging taxis, and making sure we felt at ease. The English they spoke made communication smooth, but it was their openness and sincerity that truly made it special. This isn’t a polished tourist attraction. It’s something more rare: a living, breathing culture, generously shared with outsiders. That’s what made it unforgettable. We arrived thinking it would just be a quiet place in the hills — and left with a new perspective. A deeper appreciation. A sense that we had glimpsed something worth preserving. It’s a bittersweet feeling — knowing how precious this is, and hoping it doesn’t get overrun. If you come, come with respect. Come to learn. Come to listen. You’ll leave changed.
I had the most amazing stay with Thu and Chu and their little boy. I needed rest after Ha Giang loop and their homestay was a perfect place, quiet, clean and comfortable. I felt welcomed from the minute i arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and clean with big bed and heated blanket in case you get cold. Shared shower but very modern and clean, all toiletries provided. I extended my stay because i loved the place so much. Theres a terrace where i spent days reading and watching birds making their nests, buffalo and other animal. I had dinner with the owners and other guests every night, delicious meal and i learned so much about H’mong culture and traditions, its invaluable. I also booked a trek with a guide who told me a lot about other minorities and the local area. It was a truly amazing and authentic experience and i will be coming back.
The house is beautiful and set in an idyllic location making it a perfect starting point for treks. The family are also very friendly and we enjoyed eating and drinking with them, as well as learning about their culture. Would really recommend if you have a few days in Sapa and want to get a bit further out from the city. The room does get a little bit cold, but a heated mattress is provided to help deal with that.
We had the most amazing stay with Thu and Chu! The homestay is located in a small village and you have two waterfalls right outside which you can see from the terrace. It was very quiet and a great place to watch the water buffalos, or walk to the neighbouring village. The room was perfect - it had a great size, a comfortable bed and even a heated mattress, which was so nice when it got a little colder. The shared bathroom was very clean and there was always hot water (as well as shampoo + shower gel). We felt immediately welcomed and enjoyed family dinners all 3 nights we were here - the food was delicious and it was also super fun to meet others and learn more about the Hmong culture when chatting to Thu and Chu! We wish we could have stayed longer and I would highly recommend staying here!
Nothing!
The location and the views were just amazing.the family that welcomed us is a young couple with a baby and they were so very welcoming and kind. They make dinner for their guests if you decide to eat at the homestay you have dinner with them and the other guests which create a very interesting cultural experience and family-ljke atmosphere. The mattress in the bed is very modern and has a remote that can be used to heat it up on cooler nights.
For the price, everything was perfect for us, I highly recommend this place. There is a shared bathroom but it was always very clean.
A big thanks to Chu & Thu for welcoming us into their home. We particularly loved the very tasty family dinners which were a great opportunity to chat with the family as well as the other guests. The room was cosy with a comfortable bed & heated mattress, the shared bathroom was clean & the peaceful location among the rice terraces was a great base for hikes, as well as to visit the cafes in nearby Ta Van village. Also the breakfast was excellent & huge.
Great owners. They prepared for us very tasty local dinner and coud have had a chat with them about local life. The weather was during our stay very cold (10C) and rainy. The electric pad in teh bed was awesome.
Perfect. The house is a Gem in a beautiful and peaceful place. The hosts simply amazing. It’s a true authentic experience for a reasonable price. I really appreciated the bed electric hiting.
The cozy and newly built timber house is surrounded by beautiful rice paddies and waterfalls, just above the traditional H’mong village. A great base for amazing hikes. The meals were delicious and filling, the rooms were warm in winter, and everything was very clean. But the best part was the hospitality and generosity of Chu, Thu and their family — they could not have been more kind to us, going above and beyond to make us feel at home. We really enjoyed getting to know their family, playing cards and learning about their lives in beautiful Sa Pa. Thank you for everything!
Everything was perfect — do not miss out on the chance to stay here.
The location is amazing, and the house owners really made it special. They are both so nice and helpful, and also discreet, really making you feel at home. The bed was super comfy and warm. I stayed for a whole 7 nights and it was bliss. The price is amazing, the food was lovely. Everything was perfect. Im going to go again next year.
Very lovely hosts, amazing home made food (also for vegetarians), and a very beautiful place to rest a few days.
H’mong Eco House is in a fantastic location, a beautiful setting, very inviting and comfortable. We had a lovey dinner with the hosts and all of the facilities were very clean. The breakfast was delicious too! A great base for hiking :)
We stayed here as a family of 5 (3 children aged 18.16 and 13) and appreciated the early check in after our overnight train from Hanoi. It was a wonderful welcoming and friendly home within a truly rural setting, living within a traditional H’Mong community. We’re so pleased we chose to stay here instead of in Sapa.
As we were travelling in December, it was colder than at other times of the year and we needed our extra layers.
We had a fantastic stay. The location 30min east of Sapa in the valley was great. Beautiful views and just a short walk to the village with restaurants. The last 300m are not accessible by car, only motorbike or walking, but our host took our luggage to the road by motorbike in order to take a taxi back to Sapa. Room and bathroom were clean and comfortable and it was lovely to enjoy the evenings on the terrace. Our host and his family were super friendly. We arrived earlier than expected in the middle of the night and got a room anyways. Breakfast was tasty, so was the (vegetarian) dinner we had one night. The trekking tour we booked through our host was exceptional.
Nothing. Just consider that it’s a more remote location in nature and bring enough cash.
It is a very nice and cozy home stay in an ideal location at Lao Chai village. The family was really kind and open and ready to help in anything . It was very calm and relaxing.
The host was super friendly, made good breakfast and dinner, helped us book Taxi, hike to Mount Fansipan and motorcycle. The room was clean, the bathroom is located outside, is clean and has a beautiful big shower. Lovely dogs and kids are coming around to play and he offered laundry service (wash+dry) for a fair price and it smelled great afterwards.
All perfect!
Excellent owner, everything was great, if I will be around next time, definitely will choose this stay 🙂
Amazing hosts, beautiful location. Lovely breakfast and dinner. They can also arrange a motorbike for you too.
Everything was perfect. The area is stunning and very calm. The host were very nice and always available. The room was confortable. I highly recommend this place!
Loved the location, Lao Chai is less commercial than Ta Van and feels more like an authentic H’mong Black village, spreading wide across the valley. The homestay is a newly built, large wooden building with good size rooms, one toilet and one shower room. The owner Chu keeps his homestay very clean and cooks wonderful food. According to the local custom, Chu also offers the local rice liquor which has been a much welcomed extra! I highly recommend this homestay, great hikes with local guides. Thank you Chu for your kind hospitality and all your help with transport and recommendations!
Directions on how to get to the homestay on arrival could improve.
Dinner was outstanding and so was the rice wine
Litter in the river
Peaceful surroundings in the middle of the ricefields, away from busy roads. Helpful host couple. Nice with possibilty to have dinner with the family. With the help of google translate communication works fine. When arriving and walking the 200 m from the taxi to the house you will probably be approached by local girls wanting to sell crafts. Wait with buying from them. The hosts mother has a little shop in the homestay. Maybe you want to purchase from them instead.
Our favourite stay of our Vietnam Trip. We loved staying with the host couple their 2y boy in their home. The hosts helped with whatever we needed, The cooked breakfasts (pick from about 8 options) with drip coffee were yummy and they made incredibly delicious family dinners where you can sit with the family and other traveller and share a meal (extra charge but SO worth it) The beds were soft and comfortable, the private room was cosy and includes a kettle, electric blanket, hangers and drinking water. We enjoyed just hanging around the property one of our days, in the hammock, with the neighbours children and walking through the rice fields. They also helped us arrange a taxi to SaPa early and the morning to catch our bus, and the host gave us some fruit and water for our early morning trip. There’s also wifi and a hot shower. Absolutely amazing stay, 100% recommend to anyone wanting to stay outside of SaPa.
Didn’t bother us but for people to know - one shower and a separate toilet for the homestay shared with other guests (kept very clean). Cannot access the property by car, about a 5-8min walk from the main bridge along a path if coming/leaving by taxi.
Everything and specially the family, they made our stay very special
Great location. Walking distance from the trails. Lovely homestay with great family. Sapa fields can be seen from the window and you can hear waterfalls in the back. Perfect country stay!
Lovely hosts, good location. Lovely local village absolutely the host will help you hire a motorbike if needed. Lovely dinner and breakfast. They also did laundry for us.
My only work on would be having a consistent hot water for the shower.
The family are incredibly kind and welcoming. The house is set in unbelievably beautiful surroundings with views across rice padis where buffalo are meandering. The rooms are basic but perfect and spacious with heated blankets if it’s cold. The communal spaces are great and everyone mixes together. The shower is powerful and warm and the toilet very clean. Also the decor is really cool!
Not a negative but you have to walk from the main road, it’s a beautiful walk and really easy so don’t be put off. Just don’t expect to wheel a suitcase, although the same goes for most places!
Just all the best service, location, warm room in cold Sa Pa.
Our stay was such a great experience. Being with our local H’mong hosts was a great cultural experience, and we are grateful to them for serving such large traditional meals and educating us on their history and language. The homestay is located in the mountain valley and we enjoyed walks up and along the peaks of the mountains that surrounded jt. We would return to this beautiful location without a doubt.
The house it situated in a beautiful village, so perfect for a more chill stay outside of busy Sapa. The family was super helpful, helping to book taxi, hiking tour departing from the house. The breakfast and family dinner was extremely Good, they made the while dinner vegetarian when I told them I was a vegetarian. Perfect stay if you want to hike and Explorer nature, or just relax for a few days. If you are a cold person, you could ask for an extra blanket if you stay when its cold. We enjoyed our stay here even though the weather was not ideal.
We had the most wonderful time at H'mong Eco House. Cozy rooms, beautiful scenery, delicious food and a very kind and helpful host family. We would like to come back sometime!
Amazing family, amazing food, comftable beds with spacious rooms. Beautiful location
This place is absolutely fantastic, from the cozy home to the serene environment! The hosts are incredibly welcoming, making us feel like part of their family. Their adorable son just adds to the overall charm of the place. Trust me, there's absolutely nothing to complain about! If you're having doubts about booking, just go for it – you won't regret it. The rooms are super comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious. Don't miss out on the opportunity to have dinner with the family - it's a must-do! We were also lucky to meet some fantastic fellow guests, which made our stay even more enjoyable. This experience is definitely going to be one of the top three highlights of our trip to Vietnam!
This was our favorite stay in Vietnam. The property sits in the gorgeous Hmong Hoa valley right on a rice farm with more terraces in the view. A couple of waterfalls within view as well. Also a 1 min walk from the local village. The hosts are wonderful and treat you like part of the family. They are working on their English still but that didn’t effect our experience. They were so kind and accommodating. We would most definitely stay here again!
Nothing
Great location to go hiking. The family is really welcoming, nice experience
I cannot recommend it enough to come and stay here. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Staying with the local Hmong family in this idyllic place
Breakfast was very good and the bed very comfortable. We had a terrace with a view of the village. We had a scooter so it was easy to access (the road is a little narrow). Good water pressure and hot water.
Everything! This was the best stay in Vietnam so far. The location is so beautiful- you’re right in the middle of the rice paddies. I could see the two waterfalls from my window and hear them at night. The bedrooms are large, comfortable and clean, nicely decorated. Cho, Tu and their son Chao were beyond welcoming. I ate the most delicious dinners with them every night & we finished every night with happy water! Having a communal dinner was really lovely and bought everyone together where we all shared our cultures and stories. They were so hospitable and their son was a little cutie! I was very sad to leave. highly recommend staying here if you want to live with a local family in a beautiful setting.
It didn’t bother me but there is one shared bathroom - very modern and clean - for all the guests on the ground floor.
Very clean, super nice area to calm down, amazing hospitality, good food.
A wonderful, caring family. Awesome freshly made food. Great house, location and view.
+ Our host Mr. Chu was very helpful and polite. His suggestions regarding our itinerary were very thoughtful. + Stay overall has very local vibe and is well maintained. + For vegetarians, there are veg options.
about the homestay, nothing as such. If I have to be super picky, the road back to stay can be a little bit difficult to drive on a foggy night.
This homestay and the owner family exceeded my expectations. Thanks them for all. Everything was very clean, they pay attention to all details: from small interior details till your whole satisfaction. It is very clean and stylish homestay in the authentic village in the valley with amazing view on the waterfall.
