The flat recalls an atelier more then an accommodation. The welcoming owner lives in an other room of the flat. The garden is quite nice and silent, good for meditation
Mega glass made light spot tighten on roof, is hanging on my bed and I cannot stop thinking “what if is dropping on me?” The jumping steps from upper flat, are making glass blades jingling . A chest in the room holds old sheets, the smells coming out of it isn t that nice. Large cracks on the walls made me worry.
Carlos was a a great host.
Rien.
Beautiful refuge in the middle of the city. My room was gorgeous with old wooden shutters with lovely craftsmanship. I had everything I needed and Carlos helped me to make a little office in my room so I could work.
It was perfect.
This is one of the most unique places I've ever stayed. Carlos is an amazing artist; the house is full of his vibrant and intriguing paintings and sculptures. He was happy to talk to me about art & life over tea with a kitten in his lap. In addition to its artistic vibe, the space has nice amenities like a very comfortable bed and towel warmers in the bathroom. I will be coming back the next time I am in Portugal.

Nós gostamos imenso do alojamento.
Carlos! Unique and quirky. We felt like family
Serene atmosphere, many examples of the host's art, spacious room with private bath and private entrance to the terrace from our room. Best of all, our warm and helpful host Carlos.
Nothing we disliked
I loved the historical beauty of the property and the artwork by the host decorated throughout as well as the serene and charming patio and garden in the back. Most of all I loved Carlos our host. He was delightful and helpful and kind, and full of knowledge and suggestions to help us find what we needed out and about each day. He even drew us maps at times! Then it was also wonderful coming back home to him each day. I will always stay here.
I loved everything about it.
Lovely host Nice neighborhood
Mildew smell Plane noise
Carlos was the perfect host. Very warm and hospitable. His place is well located for easy access to the metro.
The host was amazing. Very helpful and friendly. He offered us a really warm reception even baking cakes for us! The place has a nice arty touch and is situated near the city center.
The room was very small
The location is great and very central! The breakfast was not included but some snacks were provided. The host was truly nice and very helpful and available.
I liked everything!
I loved the experience, the space is very beautiful and well decorated, super relaxing, and everything was perfect, it is located in an excellent place in the city. I look forward to repeating with more nights in the space. I recommend this accommodation.
I enjoyed everything.
Nothing
I was not attentive and did not see when I booked that for 290 euros for 2 nights they provide a sharing bathroom. Terrible bed, terrible room, towel with a hole, I didn't want to go back there, but I had to work and didn't have time to move in the other flat. The price is very high for such housing.
The location was perfect! I loved the artsy decor and the best of the experience was Carlos our host! He was terrific! So accommodating. It was our anniversary and he upgraded us to the private bathroom suite. I highly recommend!
What I liked the most was Carlos' (the host) sympathy and eagerness to please. The apartment is full of art and excentric pieces. There is a lovely garden in the back. The room was small but confortable and the shared bathroom was always clean.
Everything was great.
Very "arty" accomodation, very friendly host! Excellent location for exploring Lisbon by public transport.
wheather
Carlos. Super kind and gentle man.
Carlos went above and beyond to help us find a way to stay another night when our flights were delayed. It was peaceful, relaxing, and full of unique art pieces, very cozy!
Really enjoyed my stay here. I was travelling for work but didn't want to stay in an impersonal hotel or spend a fortune. My room was small but perfectly fine. Shared bathroom was no problem. Carlos was helpful and very kind - letting me check in early. I also appreciated the complimentary snacks. What I liked most about the accommodation was the fantastic location - near two metro lines (one that takes you to the airport) - but not in the hectic tourist area. I easily travelled into the more touristy parts but enjoyed the quiet of this neighbourhood without the tourists. For example, you can take the metro to Rato easily and then do a lovely walk to the historic area (Chiado & Bairro Alto) from there. It is also on the metro line to the university (two stops), which was useful for my work.
Nothing
The room and the common areas, including the backyard terrace, were comfortable and artistic, warm and welcoming. The host was extremely interesting to talk to and very helpful. He even gave us metro cards. We shared a bathroom with another guest, which I don’t normally do. But the other rooms were taken. The bathroom was super clean. Clearly the host takes immaculate care of his b and b. The location couldn’t be more convenient, safe and welcoming. I would stay here again on my next trip.
I wouldn’t change a thing.
Good quiet location on the edge of the CBD and just a short walk from the subway (8-10 mins). It is also convenient for the airport (we were there in 15 mins). Easy access to the main town and plenty of nearby eateries and a museum. We loved the aesthetic of the property with the owner, Carlos, who is an artist (and quite a character), who is connected to his community, displaying his art. It felt more like a home than anything else. Carlos is super friendly and spoke passionately about the city and its people. There are tea and coffee and pastries in the living room if you need. We took a room with the terrace access and that was fabulous. The bathroom was huge with a decent shower.
Not a lot to dislike. He is an bed and breakfast which is in a great location. I would beware of plugging too many appliances which may cause a the circuit breaker to kick in (we brought our own hairdryer which caused this once) while charging an ipad and two phones. Carlos may have resolved this by the time of writing.
It was such a home like feel. Carlos was there and available to help with recommendations and we had great conversations about Lisbon. The ambiance was warm. Friendly. Great location. Beds very comfortable. Nice touch to have cookies, tea, bread and fruit available all day. He was kind, generous and accommodating letting us leave bags early and late which was very helpful. I loved the old fashioned bath tub and the lighting and art in this home in general.
Carlos is exceptionally friendly and eager to help with whatever you require. Everything was exactly as described on the booking page, as stated there is no breakfast included, but tea coffee, fruit and snacks are provided, which was great.
The host and the area was nice.
Well, we were disappointed. The room was tiny, uncomfortable, tired, offered no spare sockets for charging and smelt foisty. The so called 'breakfast' was very poor and on display 24h a day. We stayed in a hostel nearby a week before which was clean, well presented and offered a fantastic breakfast and at a fraction of the price. The hosts there were as nice.
Carlos was very helpful and kind!
Carlos is an excellent host. He is incredibly polite, friendly, and attentive. The back terrace is a great place to have a coffee in the morning, and the location is close but not too close to the very touristic areas.
Maybe the prices went up, but I thought it was too expensive for our room (the smallest room, two double beds). I also wish that sheets were newer, and I wish the kitchen was cleaner.
The representative was polite, but all the other disadvantages of this place, such as dirt, bad smell, unsanitary conditions, outweighed any politeness. We asked to cancel our reservation after the first night. But the owner’s greed did not allow this to happen. As a result, we had to run away from this place to a cleaner one. Moreover, no one returned the money to us.
A terrible smell is what you will encounter when you step inside. After this, you will be surprised by the dirty state of the bathtub, which is scary to enter without shoes. Dust, street noise until late at night and early in the morning, psychedelic paintings and decorations. In general, if you want to get a good night's sleep and recover after a busy day, this is not the place to go. Because within an hour, being in a small room, you will begin to feel a lack of oxygen, and the smell of antiquity, a remedy for cockroaches and sweat, will be absorbed into you throughout the night.
The b&b Is great, with a perfect location close to the metro. Carlos is the best host ever. Always kind and ready for a chat, he gave me great suggestions on what to do in Lisbon. He also lent me a sun umbrella for my day at the ocean. I highly recommend staying at his b&b, I'll surely be back in my next visit to Lisbon
A unique accommodation option with an eclectic mix of design touches mixed with diverse art pieces in a property that has delightful indoor and outdoor spaces for the guests. Small but pleasant bedroom in an historic building very close to transport and shopping options. Friendly and helpful host.
We were warmly welcomed and felt very comfortable. The place is carefully decorated and it was nice to come back and have a cup of tea or coffee available to guests.
Loved the original art and decor. It was like stepping into an artist's studio.
The room was lovely with access to the common garden, but at night with the doors closed it was close. No windows opened. The second night we asked for a fan. Carlos graciously provided one.
A delightful space filled with architecture and art. Quiet yet in the city with very easy transport and walking options. The Host Carlos has created a space that is both Art Gallery and resting space at the same time. He offered itinerary help and ideas and supplied a very safe feeling base for our first trip to Portugal.
The wild cats that visit the garden wouldn’t allow us to pet them:) Very selfish!
It was very cozy and artsy
There was nothing to complain about
Our host was excellent, he went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable! He gave us lots of local recommendations for things to see/do, places to eat and even wrote down bus and train line numbers for us to make it super easy to get around.
Nothing!
The location is ok, close to Metro. The house has nice garden, also the fridge is useful. The owner Carlos was kind and helped us with city public traffic and early morning taxi.
The room is small, shared bathroom was no problem.
Staying at Whatever Art was simply lovely. In the centre of the city (you can walk to the sightseeing spots) , clean and really lovely room, but what most surprised me, how genuenly nice the host Carlos was. Thank you for everything, I shall visit again!!
The location is magnificent. A lovely part of town, with excellent access to public transport. Although the area is busy the room we had is very quiet, with access to a lovely terrace. The host, Carlos, was friendly, helpful and generous. We would certainly return next time we are in Lisbon.
The facilities are homely, though not modern. This was what we expected, though some people may expect facilities such as air conditioning during the hot periods of the year. The buffet was available for breakfast, and we also enjoyed topping up at the nearby pasteleria with coffee and pastries.
Carlos is een TOP host!
staying by Carlos was like being by a frind. wunderful Ambiente. Only 3 minutes to the Metro.
Carlos is super host, very friendly, helpful and accommodating. He was all out to assist us in looking for places to eat, how to get to where we wanted to go. He allowed us to stay around even after we checked out as our flight was late in the evening. He just couldn't do enough for us. He even called a taxi for us to get to the airport. I will recommend him to anyone.
Carlos place is beautifully decorated with side wall lightnings and all needed lightnings to be there, but would like to see brighter lightnings along corridors and rooms. The communal entrance area for the 3 apartments is very dark. I was under the impression of breakfast provided. I must add that tea and coffee packet juice and buns available at any time.
First of all I’d like to start off by saying thank you to Carlos for being the most amazing host & friend to us , we are going to miss you ! We were made to feel so welcome and we really felt at home , As for the apartment we loved how each room is decorated with beautiful art pieces and paintings , quirky lights and furniture . The beds were very comfortable and all rooms were very clean . The location is superb , with only a 4 minute walk to the nearest Metro station and bus stop . Right next to the apartment there is a shopping centre with a food hall and plenty of restaurants , bakeries and supermarkets near by should you need them. There are plenty of cakes , biscuits , juices , tea and coffee in the dining room to have in the morning before you set off . Finally , it was so nice to relax in the terrace by the garden with a glass of wine in the evening , with the sound of wind chimes and overlooking the little pond . We hope to see you again soon Carlos & Casa !
We loved everything !
I loved the tranquility, the kindness and conscientiousness of the host, Carlos, and the beautiful garden which was an oasis in the city. Carlos is an artist and his unique creativity is evident throughout his BnB. We loved our little chats with him on occasions when he wasn’t busy with his other responsibilities. I would recommend this BnB to anyone looking for something a little out of the ordinary. It is one of a kind!
Carlos is wonderful
a little cramped.
Cosy charming and unique! I felt very welcome and comfortable here. An extra bonus for the little garden!
Little walhalla in the city center. Very cosy and the host was very helpful and friendly. Great place to stay a few days to explore Lissabon.
Nothing!
We got really lucky - Carlos is the most endearing host ever, he always tried to make us feel comfortable, prepared extra free coffe in the mornings, which we took on the enchanted little garden-terrace. Our room was not really a suite - actually the rooms are rather small and cosy - but very clean and immediately after our arrival Carlos showed us the rest of the acommodation and told us to feel free to stay in the adjoining diner room or relax on the nice couch near the entrance (communication with Carlos is easy - he speaks English excellently!). The place is quiet and only about 5 minutes from numerous stations for public transport, also only about 25 minutes to the airport by bus - the perfect place for a city trip. Since home is where you feel easy and welcome my daughter and me had 6 days "at home with Carlos" in Lisboa. We are really grateful to our host that he helped make our stay such a great experience!
This was an unusual B&B in that the room and bathroom were full of wonderful ‘art’ and interesting lamps and decor. It was a little like stepping back in time, but in a good way. The room was large and led on to a terrace, and the bathroom spacious. The location is excellent - within walking distance of a number of good restaurants, and the Gulbenkian, and with Metro stations in easy reach. Carlos is an excellent and helpful host. No complaints.
Very hospitable host, good location.
Carlos is a wonderful host and the place with his art is unique and beautiful. Location close to metro is great.
Pleasant ; Artistic presentation. Very Nice host.
This is what I chose, there was nothing I didn't expect or like.
