Excellent location, food was very good Large selection of local ales

Great location in Masham. Friendly staff. Nothing was to much trouble. How ever had to move rooms, due to cratching noises and chewing noises during the night. It was coming from a property which was unoccupied next door . Nothing to do with the room I was in,which was excellent.
部屋が広く、使いやすかった。ヒーターもあり、暖かく過ごせた。朝食も美味しかったです。
シャワーがややぬるい。
We have been to this hotel a couple of times in the past and we particularly like the location deep in the North Yorks countryside. The village is very attractive too. On arrival we were met with a friendly greeting and given all the stuff you need to know. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and the food was very good: well served and timely - not rushed. We didn't do breakfast. Prices were quite good, not over-the-top. Dinner (2 courses) and brinks came to about £100 on each night. Good value!
The shabby chic feel is looking more 'shabby' than chic, I think some redecoration is in order. The double bed was OK but on my side I kept thinking I was going to fall out as it had developed a slope! I was disappointed that the tea/coffee facilities had been cut back.........no biscuits! Goodness sake!
Comfy bed, good location and excellent breakfast
Internet hub kept flashing very brightly in the room
Lovely location, very clean and comfortable
Very comfortable bed. Also bedroom set in a quiet location adjacent to the busy public house. Spacious room and bathroom.
Room was poorly lit. Inadequate window space.
Location & dog friendly
We enjoyed everything about our stay.
Lovely hotel , perfect location , very good food ,great staff ...... however on the negative side our twin room ( Room1 ) was really better suited for single occupancy. Thanks
The room
We had a room that had an upstairs and downstairs
The lighting poor visibility in the mirrors in the room little natural lighting
Location was beautiful and central for visiting other places. Hotel staff were very friendly. Good was always nicely cooked. Breakfast was good value,
Decor was a little tired
Great location, friendly staff, delicious breakfast.
Room was very dark
Great old historic contemporary property.
All good!
Good location
Hard lumpy bed. Room smelled of smoke. Toilet seat was broken
Breakfast was excellent Staff were very friendly
Dripping tap in bathroom Cobwebs on ceiling and walls
Could park outside the hotel in this pretty North Yorkshire town. Breakfast optional and reasonably priced. Comfortable bed.
Room a little cramped.
The Kings Head is in a perfect location overlooking the market square in Masham. Our room was a good size and had everything we needed. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed two nights and our breakfasts and evening meals were very good.
Great pub stay. We had to find somewhere quickly in the village as our original accomodation was terrible. Thankfully this pub saved our staycation! Great staff, lovely food and very comfortable room. For the price it was excellent. No private parking but plenty of space in public carpark opposite. Right in the heart of the village so easy walk to both the Breweries and the other places in Masham.
Nothing to note, enjoyed everything about the place.
Room nice and friendly staff, location beautiful
The evening meal was cold and disappointing
Perfect location with great breakfast. Secure cycle storage was a real plus.
The bed was a little hard for my tastes. Also, while the decoration is perfectly nice and tastefully modern, it looks like some previous guests at the hotel weren't as kind as they should be.
Great location, staff very attentive, room clean and adequate, and food great
We had a dog so stayed in the rooms that were stables and outhouse out the back. These were great, but outside just a general weed and tidy up would make so much if a difference
Ideal location for exploring the surrounding countryside

Excellent little pub.. had a great stay.. all 8 of us enjoyed 😉
A brilliant young man who checked us in and gave all the information we needed.Dining booked in the bar area was good and staff excellent. The main meals were a tad pricey but the quality was better than expected for pub grub.
Breakfast and evening menus had plenty to offer. Service and atmosphere good. Staff pleasant and effficient.
Court yard/beer garden and room paving areas could have been swept and tables allocated to rooms should be wiped down regularly.
Lovely room, great pub, lovely breakfast. A*
Can not think of anything we didnt like.
Breakfast was very good nice choice of cereal fruit yoghurt and pastries etc Staff were very friendly
Didn’t expect to have oven chips with the evening meal was disappointed
Large comfortable room, great location, food served in the bar and the restaurant, plenty of parking in the square in front of the hotel
Some of the dishes on the menu were not available, including one of the vegetarian options, leaving only a limited choice for vegetarians
The location was excellent in the courtyard behind the pub. Our room was a good size with a bed upstairs and a bed downstairs. The food was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast.
The staff at the hotel were very good. The food was excellent.
The Bed was the hardest we've ever slept in
It was a good price and in a good location and they were able to provide a secure place to store our bikes overnight.
Old building - some damp patches
The staff were absolutely overwhelmed and the food was first class.
The bed was too hard
Lovely location

Very central. Nice room and bar area. Lovely breakfast
Our room was noisy from the bar below and also the outside seating at the back. Poor service in the restaurant for our evening meal.
Breakfast was very good. Not so the dinner. £11 for a starter of two prawns which had to be shelled and then no finger bowl.or wipes!

The location.
Not able to read in bed.....insufficient lights
Helpful staff and very clean rooms
The water in bathroom had somehow been turned off but was rectified immediately
The room was lovely, up in the loft. Clean, decorated tastefully, great stay with our pooch, Winston, also in a central location. Greeted by a young gentleman who was very friendly and informative.
The service at breakfast was a very disappointing end to what had otherwise been a pleasant stay. We were seated for over 10 minutes before we politely asked whether someone could take our order. We were then told that orders were temporarily being held because everyone had arrived for breakfast at the same time. While we appreciate that busy periods can put pressure on the team, the way this was communicated to us was not particularly welcoming. We were simply told, “Look at the screen. You can see the orders on there.” It would have been helpful to have been made aware of this when we were seated, rather than feeling as though staff were avoiding any interaction with us. We were not even asked whether we would like coffee, despite seeing other guests being offered this. When we were eventually able to place our order, the food arrived, but my husband’s poached eggs were missing. We were told that the kitchen was having issues with the eggs “bursting” and were given an explanation about the technique. We are fully aware of the different methods used to prepare poached eggs, but the issue was simply that the eggs we had ordered had not been provided with the breakfast. We were offered a poached egg that had burst, which my husband understandably declined as it was not what he had ordered. He therefore waited for the correct eggs to arrive. Unfortunately, by the time they eventually came, he had nearly finished the rest of his breakfast. We understand that kitchens can become extremely busy and that mistakes happen. However, it was the lack of communication, the manner in which our concerns were initially handled, and the delay in resolving the missing item that made this experience particularly disappointing. This was an unfortunate and absolutely disappointing end to our stay, and we feel the breakfast service fell well below the standard we would have expected.
Great room, easy access to outside so perfect for dogs. Huge very comfy bed. Lovely staff, welcoming as always.
All good 👍
Old Georgian coaching house in centre of the village. Has curb appeal. Free parking on the market place. Good base to explore the area. Outside area at front and back. Good breakfast.
Yorkshire breakfast with no black pudding!!
excellent dinner

All of the staff are a credit to your Bar /Hotel . Checked in made easy ,a big thank you to Jo for painlessly added extra nights on our stay which was handled with ease .
Nothing
Location ideal for exploring the Masham area and beyond. Rooms very comfortable and well laid out. Facilities just what we needed. Very dog friendly, the courtyard rooms are ideal, we have stayed quite a few times and can’t fault them. Staff very helpful and accommodating.
Nothing to complain about at all.
The room was spacious , the bed comforable and the area quiet . The staff were friendly & hard working . Dinner & breakfast were excellent .
Great location
In desperate need of refurbishment, they’re doing the best with what they have
The staff were very pleasant and helpful
The decor could do with freshening up!!
Very welcoming, extremely comfortable bed. Lovely breakfast.
Shower could do with a refurb.
The location is great. We’ve stayed here for several years and the staff are always lovely too.
During the hot week we were there, having a window that barely opened meant no air in the room. They did provide a fan…and I understand the windows are restricted for safety - but an extra couple of inches would have made all the difference!
The rooms were comfortable. The bar abd restaurant are lovely. The staff are very helpful abd friendly.
Loved the little street at the back .liked the pub interior thoughtt the parking was very good
I thought the bar staff needed better training
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere Appreciated provision of fan in room.
Found the heavy winter duvet far too warm especially given the heatwave conditions. Steep stairs
Nice restaurant and bar area

Friendly staff nice rooms

Location, breakfast, plenty of hot water, tea and coffee in rooms, toiletries, fan provided.
The room is in need of redecorating, the shower head is too low for taller people
We are returning guests who love this hotel and have stayed many times. As usual the staff were so helpful and kind. The room very clean. Decor nice and tidy. Nice table and chairs for sitting in the courtyard. Food tasty and service very good in both the bar and restaurant areas.
The mezzanine room with the bed upstairs (no. 21) which resulted in a very bad nights sleep for both of us. The toilet is downstairs and the light switch for the stair and downstairs lights is also only downstairs. So either stumble down a flight of stairs in the dark, or turn on the bedroom light and wake your partner. If you can work around that unscathed then the creaky stairs are loud enough to wake the dead!! A few other niggles in the room facilities. There is no drawer space to put away clothes that don't need a hanger. The shower cubicle is very small by usual standards and no justification as the batroom is spacious. There is a lovely clawfoot bath but the plug leaks and the bath water leaks out. And the bed was like sleeping on a brick. I feel lucky to not have had this room previously.
Bed n pillows were uncomfortable
Location, stayed here many times, breakfast was good and reasonable, we had evening meal, very very nice booked again in December
Nothing
Fantastic location in the market square. Very comfortable room and friendly staff
We had a lovely, spacious room. Thankful that the hotel was thoughtful enough to include fans in the room. Our breakfast in the morning was delicious. It was a great location.
Peaceful, good location

Staff were all excellant and in a great position ,loved the courtyard
Great location for local walks in beautiful surrounding countryside. Fabulous pet friendly room in courtyard reducing pet disturbance. All staff I encountered super friendly and helpful. Will definitely return
Only one vegan option on menu
Lovely location, staff friendly and dog friendly
We always love staying here, staff are fantastic. Food is always good. It's local to our family and friends, so super convenient .
Everything is spot on, and no trouble
The bed was comfortable and room was clean
The manager was extremely rude. We waited for our room as wasn't ready. Then had to wait for a table for food, we arrived back 10 minutes late which she promptly told us we were late in a rude manner, my husband said there's no need for that, to which she snapped and said im not seating you, you've had to much to drink....made no sense at all as we wanted food and were guests staying. Completely ruined our trip
Staff were very friendly, helpful & accommodating. Couldn't fault them. Location also excellent.
Mattress was extremely firm; slight sewage smell in our room when we first arrived but did leave quite quickly.
The location the room we had was lovely and quiet
The bed if you like a firm bed then this is for you although did ask at reception when checking out if they had rooms with softer beds but was told no but was advised that you can ask for a mattress topper which is helpful for the future
Location, food, drinks and rooms were all to our expectations. Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere around the place.
Couldn't find anything.
The staff were very helpful. A member of staff carried our suitcase to our room and they also moved us to a lower floor as well Jack offered to give me a lift to my car as I parked away from the hotel as I thought parking in the square was only 2 hours. The dinner was good value for money. My wife enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding
I tried getting in touch with the hotel regarding the parking, and an AI answered. It tried putting me through to a member of staff but nobody picked up.
It’s location and a beautiful building
The beds were very hard. We had to wait an hour for our breakfast, we ordered eggs Benedict and when it came they’d run out of spinach and mushrooms, so eggs on toast basically.
Fabulous hotel & pub very well appointed & with great real ale. We stayed in a very nice large room outside in the courtyard. The place stands well on cobblestone market place with loads of parking. The room had dressing area & large well appointed bathroom on the ground floor & large bed on a mezzanine above, very comfortable.
This was however spoiled by the lack of maintenance. The latch on the outside door didn’t work, the bathroom door lock didn’t work & the fabulous bath was unusable as the plug/waste didn’t seal so water wouldn’t stay in the bath.
All good
It was all good
The beer and location are what attracts me to returning to the The Kings Head my room was great ,and the fish and chip shop on the square is fanatastic.
My mates room wasnt so good in the court yard ,it was a little bit claustrophobic and the heat was only bareable with the window and door open.
We've stayed here a few times before. Love the accommodation, bar, restaurant and outdoor seating. Very welcoming in a beautiful market town. Staff are so helpful. 100% recommend
Location was great ! We ate in the restaurant and the food was Very good 👍.The bed was so comfy !
We were in a room for the less mobile - my partner, in his 80's , felt the bathroom wasn't providing enough to prevent him slipping .
Everything was exceptional 👌
There wasnt anything at all that we didnt like. Such a wonderful stay!
The location, parking and our room were perfect. The room was well designed with a large bathroom and a storage cupboard big enough to store bags away. There was an iron and ironing board and hairdryer. Also hangers for shirts etc. Lighting was good and there plenty of sockets. Tea and coffee well stocked.
We ate in the pub and while the food was the usual pub food and OK sadly the service seemed disorganised. There was no 1 person designated to serve us so there was miscommunication. Once we got our food order taken, by person number 1, it took ages to come out, brought by person number 2. Our drinks order was incorrect brought by person number 3, and we had to ask for the dessert menu from person number 4. Such a shame as everyone was so friendly and polite.
Great family room with lots of space and high ceilings which was an L shape with large bed and sofa bed. The room was behind the pub/hotel separate to it. Couple of seats and a table outside the room which was a real sun trap on morning. Sat outside on a morning with a coffee. Quite central location. Wasn’t sure about parking but staff said it was ok to park in Market Place. Staff helpful and friendly. Food was good both evening meal and breakfast.
All good. We mentioned an issue to staff as we checked out and they said they’d look into it.
I liked masham itself, very nice little village
Unfortunately, our stay got off to a very disappointing start. Upon checking into our room, we immediately discovered extensive black mould. As someone who suffers from severe asthma, this was particularly concerning due to the obvious health implications. We reported the issue to reception, and whilst the member of staff was polite and moved us to another room, what concerned us most was being told that the hotel was already aware of the mould and that it had previously been reported to management but had not yet been resolved. I find it unacceptable that a room with a known mould problem was still being allocated to guests, particularly when it could pose a serious risk to anyone with respiratory conditions. Although we appreciated being moved, the experience left us feeling extremely uncomfortable. My partner and I both suffer from social anxiety, and it took a great deal for us to approach reception and ask to be moved. We are not the type of people who usually complain, so the situation caused us unnecessary stress and detracted from what should have been a relaxing break. The replacement room was cleaner, but it still fell below the standard we expected from a Greene King hotel. Unfortunately, our disappointment continued the following morning. We had not pre-booked breakfast but decided to pay for it separately. This proved to be a mistake. The breakfast was of an extremely poor standard, with grey, unappetising scrambled eggs and bacon and sausages that were so overcooked they were rock hard. We barely touched our meals and felt that the breakfast was not of an acceptable quality, particularly considering it was an additional cost. Overall, our stay fell well below the standards we expected. Whilst I appreciate the staff member who assisted us by moving rooms, I do not believe guests should ever be placed in accommodation that the hotel already knows has a significant mould problem.
Beautiful pub with rooms either above the pub or in the adjacent courtyard. Room was lovely, quiet (not affected by any noise from the Pub) and extremely comfortable. The food was simply wonderful - we had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast the following morning. A vast array of choices and the staff were very helpful, polite and warm. We would not hesitate to stay again.
Nothing!
Big space, with settee and outdoor table. Staff were exceptional, finding place for our bikes etc. Central square location perfect.
Nothing
Good variety on offer at breakfast. Service slow. Several tables had their breakfasts incorrect on one morning. Confusion in the kitchen apparently Friendly and generally helpful staff.
Very short staffed during our stay which was a Sunday to Wednesday. On the first night we ordered a bottle of wine which never did arrive but was added to the bill! We had it removed.
Location, choice of good food and good beers
Stayed here many times and always ask for a room overlooking the market square. Nice enough room (see below) and a decent bathroom. Dining area well laid out and not overcrowded and a good breakfast was served in the same room. Food and drink to a good standard. Plenty of free parking outside or in the market square via an honesty box.
Unfortunately on our arrival they were unable to locate the keys for our room so we accepted another along the corridor. Now I cannot say that we didn't have a double room. But of the 4 rooms on this floor overlooking the market square, this was by far the smallest. pity! At least I know which to ask for on our next stay. Apparently the King's Head has had a bit of a makeover but I can't say I noticed much different.
Location
Cleanliness poor
Such a beautiful location Really friendly staff
Location is perfect for a visit to Masham
Considering the property is less than 100yards from Theakstons brewery you would expect to be able to get a good pint, sadly not !! The Theakstons best bitter was well past its best, flat & had very poor smell. The Bed was firm but very uncomfortable & the pillows were the most synthetic things I’ve ever seen. The shower above the bath was simply “Useless”
Breakfast was excellent.
Nothing. All above our expectations.
Breakfast room pleasant and food good Bar area looks inviting Room clean and spacious
Nothing
Nice quiet room in courtyard, good size bathroom with bath and big shower. Pleasant restaurant and good service.
Impossible to contact the hotel prior to stay due to Green King contact centre not responding. No fridge in the room. No sound insulation from room above
breakfast was very good and was well presented
Inadequate staff to cope with level of orders being made and we were told to wait a half hour before we could order food and that priority was given to residents who had made a reservation -we were residentsThe barkeep said we could not could not charge drinks to our room as this was company policy
Room was clean facilities good I asked for a ground floor room and was given on straight away. Dinner was good as was the wine. Breakfast as always excellent.
Could have been told I would have to pay the bill before we went to bed it was left to one of our party to pay which wasn't ideal as it was a treat from us and we has gone to bed early. I was not told this was the policy change as when we have stayed before we just paid on departure.
Lovely little place, everything in order.
