The staff were very welcoming and friendly nothing was too much trouble
All good
Breakfast was good and location very central . Staff in cafe very friendly .
Very poor lighting in room. No chairs. Nowhere to put your toiletries out of your wash bag in bathroom. Room service poor.
Good location in the centre of Town.
Dirty Carpet. Grubby bathroom. Very noisy plumbing-saniflow toilets making an horrendous noise in the night from neighbouring room. Motorcycle parking was shocking-basically a dumping ground for commercial waste, had t sweep broken glass away before parking up.
Location
Curtains didn’t fit windows letting too much light in,had to put a bed throw over curtains to stop light from outside. Bathroom scruffy and carpets stained in bedroom.
Great value very comfortable
The main bedroom was large
Tne bunk bed room was small The only chair in the main bedroom was broken so there was nowhere to sit The decor was dated
Location of bars . restraunts and shops
We had a family room but the windows was unsafe if you had toddlers or pets and could do with hangers or shelves in the bathroom and not disabled friendly on the top floor where we stayed
Spacious and well located. Clear instructions to access room.
Unfortunately pipes in the walls behind the headboard of the bed were intermittently making a loud noise throughout the night, and as such I had very little sleep. Colleagues who stayed in other rooms experienced this as.well. This would put me off staying there again.
I had a large bedroom with a comfortable bed, settee, tv & tea & coffee making facilities. The electric shower was excellent. I liked the using the key codes to access my bedroom.
The corner of the bed frame was sharp & bruised my lower leg - this is I believe a design fault of the bed.
The central location was very convenient. There was a good choice of breakfast.
Car parking could have been a problem but in the end it turned out okay.
Excellent location and my dog loved it
It was clean and quirky.
Spacious and clean, comfortable beds, and it was nice to find complimentary biscuits and bottles of water in the room. It was also a bonus to find that the bunk beds were in a separate room from the double, so everyone had their own space.
Nothing
Great
Good breakfast at their cafe
Central location and exception value for money.
Shower gel in the bathroom was empty!!
Too much noise from the traffic, very old hotel which needs maintenance.
Beautiful building - lots of space in our family room. Secure bike storage with a plug to charge an e-bike.
Clock chiming every hour and no sponge to wash up our dishes. Everything else was provided
Great location in town close to shop, restaurants and pubs. Complementary bottled drinking water.
The property was fine the only negative was the traffic noise from the cross roads outside. It was like being in a city location as the traffic went on through the night. This was noted in the read reviews so came at no great surprise. Not much the property can do about the traffic but unfortunately it is a negative.
Room right next to main intersection, non-stop traffic noise even in mid-night.
Perfect location and good for families
Not much at this price!
Nice place to stop off and enjoy the area from
Room was lovely and well equipped with a separate sofa as well as the bed. Bed was very comfortable
It's on a Major A road so suffered a little from Traffic Noise No Onsite Parking
Easy check in
The shower; size and too long of a curtain which meant the water overflowed into the bathroom.. Not enough space to fully wash yourself & hair due to height and width
Tiered and dirty
Convenient for a short stay. Parking round the back for motorbikes.
Nothing special which is not meant to be critical. It was fine for a short stay
Not much.Was clean.
Such a noisy room. The bathroom was very tired and small. One third of the room had a sloping ceiling but above all the traffic noise outside was awful!
Check-in instructions very helpful. Room had a great view over a busier than expected intersection. Quite entertaining & unexpected!
It's an old building, & it's starting to show. Didn't meet any staff. Very creaky, uneven floor in our room. The foot of the (squeaky) bed was higher than the headboard! The advertised Morgans Bistro & cafe were both closed.
Being in the town was great, lovely big room, comfy bed. Biscuits, tea and coffee provided.
Parking a problem. Took ages to find a spot, even on a Sunday. Room very dated, lots of dust, lino in bathroom a trip hazard as very bumpy!
Good sized double rooms , good location and motorcycle parking
Nothing
The room was a great size and clean and tidy, as well as having good pillows and duvet. It had plenty of power points for chargers and a hair dryer.
The road noise. My room was on the ground floor facing the main route into Rhayader and the window would shake with the sound of lorries, buses, motorbikes going past.
Lovely little room in town. Didn't know it was Canival day when we booked it, but the atmosphere was great and didn't mind the noise.
Only criticism I would say is the room was quite warm, could've done with a fan in the room. Other than that, no bad points.
Was looking for some last minute accommodation to complete a mountain walk close to Rhayader. Spent the week of searching and my options were very limited considering it was the first weekend of the summer holiday and mid heat wave in the UK. The morning of travel, I decided to have another look just incase and to my surprise this room was showing available! Jackpot! I paid £60 for a Double Superior Ensuite which is extremely reasonable. The location is great, plus you have a number of food options on the doorstep. Property was self check in, the email was very easy to understand with clear instructions on how to get into the building and then where to find the room keys. Welcome water, biscuits and tea/ coffee facilities provided. Property was clean.
Unfortunately we stayed in the ground floor room, which is right on the front of the building next to the busy Rhayader cross junction. Even with the windows closed the road noise can be heard, If you're staying in summer you will also likely need to keep the windows open. The room did not have any security latch, as a solo traveller I felt quite uneasy not being able to secure the door from the inside. I ended up moving the chair infant of the door just so I felt comfortable falling asleep. It was also only a wooden door, so any other guests coming into the building can be heard extremely loudly. The mattress needs to be changed, you have two very distinctive dips in the bed. The room could really do with a make over, especially the bathroom which has dirty grout and the floor has air bubbles in patches. You can hear the upstairs bedrooms almost clearly enough to listen to their conversations, so some insulations under the floor boards would be helpful! For the price I paid last minute, I really cannot complain. It did the job, some small tweaks and TLC and this would make a great pitstop!
Staff were very attentive Food was really good Bed was comfy Really enjoyed our stay
Location was great
Nothing
Friendly helpful staff especially one girl didnt get her name brought a fan out to us thank you Room was clean and comfortable Had food also here which was nice
Comfy beds and clean linen.
The rooms were promoted as executive ensuite rooms. The bathrooms had peeling lino and the floors were not clean. All of the carpets throughout the whole building were dirty and badly needed replacing. There are no staff on site so no chance to ask for anything if we had needed it. The only parking between 8 am and 8pm is for 1 hour and even after 8 pm is hard to find.
Clean, convenient and good value.
Noisy at night due to close proximity to busy cross roads in the village.
Avoid Room 9 at all costs - less than 6 feet from the main road the traffic noise is unbelievable and in the current warm weather you have a choice of closing the window to reduce the noise - so it's too hot to sleep - or leaving it open to try and keep cool - but being unable to sleep due to traffic noise
Too noisy
We were downstairs. It is on a busy crossroad, pretty noisy well into the night.
The room was large and very clean
The self check in process was not clearly explained. A note on the cafe door or the accommodation door advising guests to go to the Crown Inn would have saved much confusion !
Large space and quaint. Self check in
Hot. No fan provided. Noisy - on main road and hourly chiming of clock in street very annoying throughout night No breakfast available until after 8 Some cobwebs on upper beams
Able to park our motorcycle behind the property, off the road
Very run down, entrance very dirty. Bathroom needs deep clean. Sadly would not recommend
Spacious room
Wifi was a bit intermittent Noise from the main road particularly lots of motorcycles that park right outside the window
The many and varied rooms are fabulous, full of character and strangely palatial. I have stayed in a number of rooms and most have a decent sized seating area, most have exposed beams and all feel well planned and they feel like a discovery.
The hotel is in the middle of the town and Rhayader is the cross roads of mid Wales so there are noisy lorries running all day and much of the night.
Secure bike storage
Really loud at night with pubs around. Noise until 2am. Could hear the room above us moving around. Very disrupted sleep. The whole place is in need of TLC, everything seems to be falling apart.
Very Clean Room and Comfortable Bed . Tea and Coffee Facilities . Good size and Excellent Bathroom . Was Noisy Traffic Outside but didn’t bother me too much . Great Location and Cafe 2 Mins Away Excellent Breakfast .
Traffic Noise
Easy access. Simple check in. Comfy. Cosy.
Lovely room with lots of old character features. Great ensuite.
Not a big issue but no real parking nearby and o/ n parking needed to use town car park about 5 mins (which was free o/n) or so from accommodation
Basic.
Cheap bed. Small shower room 7.
Great location, good size room, complementary tea, coffee and water, great value 😊
Quite a bit of traffic noise from 6am
Space, clean, easy to acess, great affordable cafe downstairs, lovely staff, lovely town
No real parking as we had to park 10 min walk away but not a deal breaker.
Restored in a traditional way
Nothing
Loved the secure room key boxes and the PIN code for front door entry. Quaint room with uneven floor, not a problem it's a very old property, yet maintained in good condition. Crisp, clean linen. Electric shower that worked. Blinds and heavy curtains, with accessible and working sash windows for some fresh air, yet able to shut out the vehicle noise from the hotel being located on an important cross-roads in the region's geography. Breakfast choices were great; personally I like my Eggs Benedict yolks a little softer, great option of the half-size English breakfast, good fresh coffee. I was travelling with a group of motorcyclists, nice to have a small parking area up an alley at the rear for our bikes.
Stayed for two nights, thought there might have been a service visit after day one just to tidy the bed and the bathroom, but not necessarily a problem.
Nice and clean
Traffic noise
Great value Nice attention to detail regarding bottled water, coffee facilities in the room
Noisy at night but it was a Saturday night, very basic and jaded
Nothing really
Very basic, no staff thought I would be checking into an inn/pub but all self service. Noisy location, no instructions on parking.
There was a bath in the ensuite. I was so happy! My tired and weary muscles were feeling very grateful for long soak after a hard day's hike! Huge comfy bed too.
Good sized room, comfortable bed
Looking dated, could do with some investment
Location of Pubs to get food on a Sunday! - The Lamb Inn - you guys were great thanks for your help to get us in to our rooms, in the rain!
No codes received to gain access (codes received on the day of checkout). After a long ride through the heavy rain, it wasn't the best to have to chase someone to get us in. The door is located on the side of the building, so it's not very clear without an email with all the relevant info. We had to visit local pubs to see if anyone knew how to gain access, as no one picked up the mobile number at first. Then the noise, as some have mentioned, it's on the main A road through, and yes, lorries will travel through most of the night.
Close to the village centre, pubs galore for choice of food, and surprisingly quiet.
Being in the square you share the space with the village clock. Not overly noisy, but its in the background if you are a light sleeper.
Wi-Fi didn't work at all.
Good location to explore mid Wales. Lovely room with a lot of character and clean. Very friendly staff and a great cafe with good food downstairs. Pleasant and welcome surprise these days to find tea / coffee / biscuits in the room. Definitely good value for money.
Not the property’s fault but it is a noisy spot. On a busy junction, some revellers coming out of local pubs at closing time and the nature of the old building means the walls are thin - bring some ear plugs to sleep and you won’t care. What the property can sort out is the mattress - much like the neighbouring rolling Welsh hills, I was rolling into the middle of the bed all night as the mattress needs replacing.
The photos on booking .com Make the property look a lot nicer As you open the entrance door to lobby and he carpet looks shabby and the two apartmentswe booked are tired and poorly maintained
Ease of booking and check in
WiFi inoperable, shower was poor for flow and temp control, bed appeared to have partially collapsed in the centre, gloomy, dimly lit room. No restaurant facility. No staff on site - is this normal?
Easy code check in
Loud banging from front door from others staying in same place. Cobwebs in the bedroom. Flooring in bathroom not even cut to size let alone been fitted. Grout and silicone in bath/shower is black. The privacy film on windows is pealing off and when windows open you can been seen by people walking past on pavement while you shower or sat on toilet.
Great Room and location
WiFi did not work
Lovely breakfast in cafe. 3 pubs within easy walking distance. Excellent walking.
Nothing.
It had so much room for a family. Beds were comfy, and had everything we needed - including microwave and fridge. The customer service from the hotel in advance of our stay was first class when they alerted us to the fact we had two bookings.
The clock outside the building chimed every hour! But totally appreciate there was nothing the hotel can do about that.
Great Location
Didn’t seem that clean - carpets were stained, there was some sort of rubber residue in clumps on carpet, no tea spoon to make tea, can hear room above and the guests up there were up 3:30am making loads of noise until 5:30 so couldn’t sleep. Shower had low pressure.
This was a last minute booking as my plans had changed. Booking was quick and simple and the codes arrived quickly allowing me to entre the room straight away. Parking was found just up the road on street and the property was located in the centre of the town.
It was very close to the main through road and the traffic did pass by very close pretty much all through the night. Being an older building the sound proofing and glazing wasn't up to stopping all the noise. That said I did still manage to get enough rest.
Completely self service Motorcycle parking.
It was clean, comfortable and friendly
I chose the street view as I was just going to be sleeping and not bothered about views. However, the tiny street had Lorries and HGVs passing within feet of the window late at night and early. A LOT of traffic. So it was very noisy. Everything else made up for it.
Great location in the centre of town with spacious room and original features of the old buildings retained. Breakfast (not included in room price) in Ty Morgan’s cafe was excellent. Recommend the Eggs Benedict.
We didn’t receive the codes for the door or key safe so had to phone. The lady was very helpful though. The electric shower was really noisy and very hot so it had to be turned right down - possibly needs replacing. The mixer tap on sink is plumbed the wrong way around so the water got colder rather than warmer. Extractor fan not working (just to let you know). No teaspoon.
Loved the central location, rooms were cosy, reasonably priced.
The clock tower that isn’t very far! It rang on the hour every hour through the night which sadly kept me awake / woke me.
We had five rooms booked as a group of friends. Each room was lovely. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and there was a lot of choice. The rooms were super clean and the beds very comfy. Very generous tea tray.
Nothing
Clean and spacious. Great location right in the centre. Room was bigger than expected with a separate bunk bed room for our son which was perfect.
The key-box check-in process needs improvement as somehow someone else had got our key and was in our room. Fortunately we asked him and he realised the mistake, but if we'd not been there exactly at that moment we'd have been stuck as no one answered the phone when we tried to call through initially to ask where the missing key was!
The heating was on and the room was lovely and warm, hot water shower, kettle/tea/coffee/milk/biscuits/bottled water, all supplied
Needs a notice to say what time breakfast is and what's available Also, needs instructions how to work the tv - couldn't get the ten o'clock news on bbc
Room good size clean everything you needed big bed comfy breakfast (paid on site ) was very good location to lean valley was superb
Extremely noisy so no sleep at all Lots noise from traffic , extractor fan , live band till 1am next door , people coming in and out front door , people shouting on street , walls are so thin could hear everything and someone had a dog that barked all night . Cafe next door v noisy too . No parking , toilet didn’t flush
nice place, good location in the centre of the town. Could do with a better clean in the bathroom especially around the window and blinds.
Property was well located. Room was clean and cosy
Was a little noisy. No hot water for bath or sink, only in shower. Floor very uneven.
Location, room and breakfast.
Traffic a little noisy
Spacious room
Broken pedal bin (hanging off) Vanisan blinds were broken (missing part of slats) Couldn't turn the volume up or down on the telly Cold (small electrical heater did not work) Bath jacuzzi didnt work as button was broken Bottom part of external shower broken and chipping away.
brilliant location excellent value for money huge room super clean lots of extras shampoo etc
only down side was the jets in the bath didn't work and was much needed after race around the lake
The accomodation was great. The bed was very comfortable, and the room generally spacious, and well ecquiped. The constant available hot water for showers, was very much appreciated. The food, especially the breakfast was very tasty, and amazing value. We visit the area regularly, and will definitely return.
The location was ideal.
We have stayed twice before and it’s been fine - cannot fault the kind and helpful staff and the rooms - front and back were fine
The room right at the top was not satisfactory. The bathroom had nowhere at all to put anything- a few inches around the very small sink. No shelves at all - only place to put stuff in the shower was the floor. There was only one bedside table even though there was room for another also sound walls to put a shelf in the bathroom. No thought about what it would be like to stay there . Uncomfortable
Copious breakfast, pleasant cafe environment, excellent location for my needs. Excellent check in service.
Bathroom for sure, noisy saniflow system. Noisy electric shower with very little water pressure
