Very peaceful and clean. Amenities are of top standards and moreover, a kind and welcoming host

The tiniest of recommendations, it would be helpful to have a motion detector light in the porch when coming in at night. This is really hair splitting as it didn’t detract from our stay at all, just an observation

I am not a fan of a communal breakfast, but I know others would enjoy that.

Dick, our host was very welcoming and showed us up to our ensuite room, which was very clean and comfortable. There was plenty of choice for breakfast including cereals, yoghurt, fruit and a choice of cooked breakfast items that were cooked to order. Located less than a 5 minute walk into the centre of town and perfect for exploring the area with its stunning landscape with endless roads, trails and paths.

Location was perfect for exploring Elan Valley and surrounding areas. Off road parking for motorcycles was a bonus. Room was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Beds were very comfy and the host was friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Nothing, it was perfect for what we wanted eg; touring round mid wales and visiting the local attractions.

Chambres confortables, bon équipement, calme et propre... Très bon petit déjeuner.

L'extérieur et le rez-de-chaussée de la maison laissent un peu à désirer, un petit peu plus d'entretien rendrait l'endroit plus charmant. Ce point pourrait être amélioré.

Great location near the Elan Valley. Handy parking on the road directly in front of the property. Lovely host, clean and comfortable room and a superb breakfast. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Curtains and lamp shades were a bit grubby and could do with cleaning or replacing.

Breakfast cooked to order and very tasty. Lovely view from the front of the property. Landlord very friendly. We had a great visit to see kite feeding (a must go to). Lovely walks along the river.

Access a little difficult with heavy cases but we don't travel light!

Ideal location, 2 minute walk into the centre and also an ideal base location for surrounding area. Dick was a wonderful host and did contact us prior to our arrival. We were on motorbikes and he offered us the use of his long driveway for extra security and safety of the bikes. Room was spotless and absolutely fantastic, everything you need, beds were very comfy. The icing on the cake was the home cooked breakfast in the morning. The value for what we got was outstanding and I would recommend anyone to stay here without a second of hesitation. Thank you.

Friendly host on arrival and at breakfast time. Cooked breakfast really good and nice to have yoghurts and cereal to help yourself to. Great location on a quiet street with plenty of parking and a short walk into town to get dinner etc. We stayed here to visit the Ellan Valley mainly. Room was comfortable and shower etc all fine.

All good really, maybe the furniture is a bit dated but is exactly as shown in the pictures.

The Host does a lot to make guests comfortable and provides an excellent cooked breakfast in a spotless dining room. The view from the table is fantastic. Parking is on the street right outside and there was plenty of space whenever we got back. The area is quiet and there is no traffic noise.

On this occasion the shower cubicle needed a good clean, perhaps this had just been missed by the cleaner. Had the room been serviced on a daily basis, as is the case in most B&Bs, this would probably have been picked up. Wifi was very poor as has been mentioned before by other guests. The jacuzzi room needs a heated towel rail.

Everything except the flow rate of the shower. This could easily be fixed by upgrading the unit assuming that the water pressure is ok.

What a fantastic B&B. The location is great, Dick was happy to help out and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was lovely each morning and the options were great. The rooms are spacious with comfy beds, a TV and refreshments. We travelled across on motorbikes and they were secure and off the road underneath a purpose build cover with ample room. The ground anchors were an unexpected bonus with Ring cams for added security. The area is ideal for exploring the amazing scenery of mid Wales and there are at least 4 pubs and 3 local takeaways for eating of an evening, all within less than a 10 minute walk. That said, the B&B and its surrounding are really peaceful and we will definitely be back. Thanks for everything!

A great overnight stay - and the upgrade on arrival was an added bonus! I felt safe and welcomed as a solo traveller, and would happily return. Thank you!

The only thing that could be improved was the wi-fi. However, Dick (the owner) was aware of the situation and was off to sort the wi-fi the day I was there, so hopefully that will be better in future.

Dick was very welcoming with no fuss, room lovely with a great view, nice and quiet, smart TV, clean, comfy, near to main street of Rhayader with plenty of choice to eat out. Particularly liked that you had the option of bringing hot food back to B&B , eating in the dining room using crockery/ cutlery with no drama if you didnt want to eat out . Would definitely return . I felt the property owner was less welcoming . when i asked about something that i didnot understand he replied bit rudely. other then that the stay was okay but it could be more amazing if he would have been more welcoming and friendly.

The room was exceptionally quiet and very comfortable with a good selection of tea / coffee / hot chocolate plus a biscuit or two. The breakfast was a real standout with a superb made to order cooked breakfast with the best poached eggs I have had in years.

Delicious cooked breakfast. Kettle and tea & coffee in the lovely room with a shower and a jacuzzi. Only a few minutes walk from the very friendly town centre. The town is close to the Red Kite Centre and a short drive to the beautiful Elan Valley with its dams.

Perfect location within walking distance of town/restaurants. Host attentive and friendly atmosphere welcoming. B&B perfectly clean, great views and loved our room. So comfortable! Best coffee and breakfast I’ve ever had travelling!!! Really set me up for the day conquering a 6 hour hike visiting the Elan Valley! Full house of guests our second night and it was still so quiet and friendly in passing. Great value for money including breakfast. Thank you for adding luxury and comfort for our travels!

Richard the host was very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The room was lovely and warm and clean, And everything you needed was there. There was cereal, yoghurts, juice, tea and coffee and a cooked breafast whicht was big and cooked beautifully, I've didn't realised before we went that Richard was a winner from the program '4 in a bed' TV program. And all I can say, he well worth it! The location is a short walk to the town. We will definitely be going back.

A slight decline/incline walking down from the property to the main street to town., but also, that we couldn't stay longer.

A lovely guesthouse. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a room with a jacuzzi, but there was also a large separate shower. The breakfast was freshly prepared. We came away with nothing but good impressions.

The guest house is in a quiet residential area and only a short walk to the town. The bedroom was nice and large and very comfortable. Breakfast was great too. We liked the way everyone was sat around one large table, so it was very easy to chat to other guests. It was handy having somewhere secure for the mountain bikes, and when we return on motorbikes, there is undercover parking for them too. A really good set up. Thank you

Could have better parking

Convenient location for me, in the heart of Mid Wales. Lovely view across the valley from my room. Nice welcome from host Dick. My room was outstanding, immaculate, comfortable with superb en-suite. The room looked out onto the road where I was able to park right outside the guest house, minimal road noise overnight in spite of having the window open. Heating I could control, I turned it right down for the night but the room warmed up quickly when I turned it back up in the morning. Fantastic cooked breakfast which set me up for my journey home. I would highly recommend Bryn Derwen for a single night or a longer stay to enjoy Mid Wales.

Nothing I didn't like about this stay. For travellers with any mobility issues, there are a few steep steps up from the road to a tarmacked path that leads to the entrance.

Lovely stay, we loved the room, breakfast was fantastic and the host Dick was great. We sadly had to cut our stay short for family emergency but we would certainly go back in the Summer. Great spot to explore Elan Valley and we were lucky enough to see snow during our hikes. Despite the cold weather our room was super cosy and warm and to wake up to an amazing breakfast before setting off was fantastic.
