Location
Good location, easy to find, the room had everything we needed and the bed was comfy.
Nothing. It had everything we needed and good value for money.
Good location for the town Centre
Central location and helpful staff
pleasant staff
no wifi in most of the hotel difficult access to car park sink in bathroom too small to shave from difficult access to rooms via stair case no fruit or yogurt for breakfast 2 star rating rather than 3 or 4 star
Not our normal choice but ok
Room 3 could not get internet once left downstairs as climbing stairs lost internet we spend lot of time on internet so disappointed with thatexe
Friendly staff, great location
Lack of parking.
Very polite staff and very helpful specially when i couldn't work out how to get in my room
Breakfast was a joke was told breakfast was between 8-9.30 expecting a cooked breakfast for the price of a room and as advertised breakfast included ...sliced ham bread rolls and pork pies is not a bteakfast that is a lunch ...No way was the Elan hotel worth £130 for a family room and dont get a proper full english breakfast ..Shower door would not close probably even when lifting it up and close at same time whole floor ended up flooded ...No staff to been seen at breakfast time to make these complaints ..we all ended up finding a cafe for a proper breakfast
Location was great
This is not a 3 star hotel. Room wasn't bad except for the wardrobe being broken and would not open. The rear decking of the hotel is in very poor condition rotting decking boards and tables holes in the floor and generally not looked after. Breakfast was absolutely atrocious for the price paid ham and cheese platter had cling film over it but under the cling film was a big fly so could not eat any of it. Crackers and muffins were way out of date so basically nothing to eat for breakfast. They need to be a bit clearer about what the breakfast is and they need to have some staff on for breakfast as no staff were anywhere to be seen. The carpark is very tight to get into
Nette, schone kamer
Het ontbijt was niet echt bijzonder. Voorverpakte dingen (zoals muffins) waren over de datum. Ook de melk scheen niet goed meer te zijn, volgens medegasten. Geen eigerechten. Geen personeel.
Third stay here. Always a pleasure to be in Rhayader. Elan Hotel is the perfect rest place to travel through Wales. The beautiful Elan Valley is just a short ride away and is just wonderful on a motorcycle! Had a continental breakfast before we left which was more than adequate. Another nice stay. Thank you.
Only gripe is the very rough track that takes you around to the rear of the hotel. Really needs to be tarmacked. Difficult on a motorcycle.
Suited my needs.

Nice quiet & friendly pub
Ok location for motorcycle event that weekend
Very poor breakfast didn’t tell you when booking only continental available (pork pies toast cereal.?) no staff to be seen looked like everything was laid out night before ,small room with no lock on door to bathroom door was always opening when in if you just brushed against it
Nice comfortable bed
Breakfast was a bit lame. Only continental with poor choice.
Lovely room and good breakfast
Could do earmier breakfast for royal welsh week
The location as it’s right in the high street
The outside area at the rear of the hotel needs tidying up and refreshing, and the breakfast selection could be better some fresh bakery goods would have be nice and bigger bowls - cups.
Location is perfect the staff are great perfect for bikers touring.
Good value, central location, perfectly adequate room. Comfortable and clean.
Breakfast offered was only continental
tired
Good location
Need a wider entrance for parking
There was an issue with the previously assigned room which was swiftly rectified - Thank You. The replacement room, No. 10, was spacious, airy and the bed was very comfortable. The Continental Breakfast was plentiful in bounty. There is also decent, well-away-from-the-main-road bike parking, which was essential. This is an ideal base for Wales, location-wise, with the Elan Valley just minutes away.
No following let the stay down: Black mould all over the bathroom ceiling Appallingly out-of-date fire extinguishers (1 actually just plonked under the breakfast table and one concealed in a boxed off arrangement) A grubby pint glass (with matter stuck to the inside) for my drink Differing prices for the same drink - £1:60 on the first two nights and £1:00 on my last. Further to this, previously, when I stayed here, the food was really good. After a LONG day in the saddle on the day of arrival, I settled down to what I believed was going to be a wonderfully prepared basket meal (as that's all that was being served). For £10:50, I also thought it would be freshly prepared in every respect. What I actually received was a tiny basket of very poor food quality. When I advised the bar person that it was 'not good' and that I had only managed one cheese wedge and about 3 chips, she just asked, "Do you want to pay for it now? Having already had to gripe about my initial room allocation, I discreetly advised that the meal was actually disgusting but this clearly fell on deaf ears and didn't raise any concerns or response whatsoever. I am unsure whether it has undergone new management or not since the last time I stayed, but disappointingly, the experience was not what I enjoyed on the previous two stays. As a Fire Extinguisher Technician in my day-to-day job, these are the first things that I look at wherever I stay. They are essential items of life-saving equipment and it is the Establishment/Management's responsibility to ensure that these are serviced annually and replaced when life expired. I am at a loss as to how out of date these extinguishers are for valid testing and that lives are being put at risk because of it. To cap off the stay was the reported "exceptional free wifi" that was pretty much non-existent - it was PANTS!! I had to use my own phone hotspot throughout my entire stay - UNSAT!!
Poor service on front of house, we assumed that there was a full breakfast not a continental breakfast. Lack of communication with the staff, no one around in the morning to help.
Poor service, no one knew where
The rooms were clean and comfortable
The breakfast was continental which we were not expecting. There were no staff in the hotel until they opened the bar. The front door of the hotel was closed by 11.30 pm and the rear entrance had a key safe which was difficult to get into as there was no lighting working at the rear of the hotel.
Great location in the centre of town
No cooked breakfast served
Breakfast was excellent - although no hot options
The location is excellent for motorcyclists.
Whilst the hotel staff are very helpful the hotel is in need of some TLC. The toilet in our twin room was very noisy and the seat did not fit properly.
The shower screen did not close
Rooms are great, Staff friendly and a great location. Nice Bar also
Breakfast was average. Shame there is no cooked breakfast.
Location
It is tired and messy with lots of random discarded equipment. The room itself was ok, the linen was clean. however the shower was mouldy along with the ceiling. Breakfast was continental, which would be fine if the produce was good quality. The tea cakes were rock solid, there was no butter one morning and tea bags are awful. Definitely not worth the £100 per night.
Location and friendly staff who made us very welcome
Friendly staff and a warm welcome. Room light and comfortable.
Continental breakfast was not the best.
Great location
The location was good close to the Elan Valley. The brasserie at the Elan food was great.
The wifi wasn’t working. The way to parking was very narrow. The complimentary continental breakfast felt like formality sakes it wasn’t that good.
Breakfast basic but ok parking difficult to reach because so narrow.
Noise from bar.
Hearty breakfast with lots of options and very comfy beds. Room was clean and tidy and check in was easy.
Nil
Tight parking damage my car. Reception poor, reception area dark and dingy staff not very welcoming, all areas very cold especially bedroom.
Clean & the lady with the brown hair who greeted us was so lovely sorry didn’t get her name
Breakfast included was literally toast & cereal that was it
Great location in the centre of Rhayader Lovely home made curry
They don’t offer hot cooked breakfast any more, just cold continental selections and local baked products (tea cakes) etc serve yourself. My room wasn’t serviced during my 4 night stay
Good location good food
Shower was uncontrollable far too hot and the bath taps didn’t work
Quiet and I slept well
Only continental breakfast, quite a bit of maintenance needed (shower door didn't close, TV signal needed aerial cable adjustment, lampshades by bed tatty).
Friendly helpful staff
No full breakfast, would be happy to pay little more. Road to rear parking needs tarmacing, potholes filled. Access not motorcycle friendly.
Niets
Kamer verschrikkelijk verouderd. Bed viel bijna uit elkaar. Prullenbak verroest en wc bril te klein.
Staff were very very accommodating which made life easy.
Beautiful rooms clean
No cooked breakfast
Charming little Hotel the food was delicious .Will return if the opportunity arrises
The manager was amazing and very helpful. Bedrooms very vlean
Not happy with breakfast and dinner. Food could be better.
Good location and handy parking.
Bed was very uncomfortable. Outside the garden area was a mess really..Grass was not cut.No umbrellas in tables.Lots of rubbish and old appliances laying around...Could be so much better with not much needing to be spent really.
Good location and comfy bed, friendly staff
Continental breakfast choice was not great. Shower door was broken. For the price would have expected more.
Good selection for continental breakfast. Central location.
Creaky bed. No glasses in room. Small cups in room. No control for heating - not on and couldn't dry any kit. Came on am.
Location of this hotel is brilliant - small local village with plenty of pubs / general shops
Shower was broken - made staff aware (room 6). Breakfast wasn’t up to what we expected but plenty of cold food. Parking round back is very very tight - struggled to fit a small Renault Clio round there.
Hotel staff were very helpful and polite, Location was beautiful and right near elan valley Owners were very hands on and proactively greeting guests, had a good conversation with them in the morning Bar staff night before I checked in stayed behind until I arrived which I thought was exceptional customer service!
Price per night was a little steep My shower was leaking, lost alot of pressure, room 8, other than that facilities were good. Maybe a hit breakfast or buffet style would be a good touch but other than that no issues at all
Nothing, we weren’t even able to stay the night as it was that unclean
The property was dirty, stains on the sheets - fairly confident they hadn’t even been washed, shower full of black mould, toilet was filthy, hairs everywhere where, dusty, windows were poor letting in cold air leaving the room freezing even with the heating on , pub downstairs was noisy
The bed was comfortable, except for a bug, but that's not really their fault.
The shower didn't work well, the tv didn't turn on, the walls were very thin (could hear neighbour snoring), and check-in was vague/ difficult to engage with staff.
Bar staff and cleaner were brilliant
Breakfast not advertised as continental. Trays layed out night before with cold sausage roll and pork pie ( out all night at room temperature that’s completely against food safety)stale tea cakes bought in muffins and cheap bread& a couple of cereals. No proper meat, cheese or eggs. Absolute rubbish. Every time someone used the pub toilet all we could hear was the flush and handryer Next door shower loud in our room Room was cold in evening and night no extra blankets or pillows. I was here a few years ago it was brilliant now the menu is basket meal or curry. Awful music played loud couldn’t relax won’t be going again
Location was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful
The bar needs better wine availability as it was limited. Breakfast, feel the hotel could benefit if they offered cooked breakfasts. Otherwise best continental breakfast I have had!
The location was 20-30 minutes drive away from the tourist spots we want to see. There was a convenience store beside it. There was staff up until 11pm to check us in.
The bedsheets smelled of body odor. It seemed like the bed sheets were not changed for a few days. We parked along the street. Gets very busy and tradfic during the day we were there. Room was cold. Asked if they have electric heater. Staff only able to answer the following day. No hot breakfast, just continental breakfast.
Clean & comfortable, all we needed for 1 night in the centre of Rhayader.
Friendly staff, excellent food, room was decent
Parking was a little tricky to access, if you have a range rover or similar youve got no chance
Lovely staff clean accommodation
Good evening meal
No proper breakfast
The friendly staff and great location
My room was dated
Clean room, friendly staff although they were mostly absent (ie at breakfast).
Breakfast was shockingly bad, with foul tasting crumpets, margarine (no butter) cheP packets of jam, etc.... Shower was weak, and bathroom was in a closet-like corner of the room. Although it was clean. Bed was uncomfortable
Friendly staff
No cooked breakfast available
This is our 2nd visit, this time I booked on the day and we were not disappointed. The lovely lady that checked us in & was also working the bar was very polite and chatty and couldn’t do enough for all that were in the bar, she made us feel very welcome. The food was 10/10 we both had a curry mine chicken (extra hot) and my husband had lamb it was delicious & there was so much choice for the buffet breakfast. The room was spotless, beds were comfy and it had all we needed.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
Good location, comfortable bed and nice breakfast with wide choice
Dripping water from bathroom
Close to local shops, and of course to Elan Valley
The location is great as I was working locally, the room was clean and the staff very friendly.
After booking the hotel I had notification they no longer provide a cooked breakfast. I ate in the pub and the food was not great, particularly as previously food was good. There was no kettle in my room although there were tea and coffee, but I was unable to use them.
Location is great
It felt very cold in the bar / restaurant area , asked to have the fire lit on both evenings , but politely declined. The food was average , nothing special , I had the steak and couldn’t eat it , however I was refunded £10. But I would have preferred a nice meal.
Friendly staff
Breakfast, advertised as continental, but it was more of a cereal or toast/bagel offering. NO-ONE was around during breakfast it felt as though were we all on our own
Very clean and comfortable room
Parking.
Cooked Breakfast could be better
breakfast good, meals good . well stocked bar, staff excellent and very helpful and friendly
could have tidied the room ,every morning but that was a minor detail
The room was small but very nicely decorated
There was a bulb missing from one of the bed side lights. The view out of the window was to a corrugated iron clad side of a house. Car parking is difficult as there is no reasonable space and car parking outside the hotel is restricted to 1 hour during the day. Ok to park from 8 pm overnight 'till 8 am
wi fi did not work, and not many working channels on the TV
The breakfasts were good, accommodation needs a little TLC and updating, staff very good and friendly, food good.
Parking, the car park was very difficult to access has narrow access.
