The Storm Hive - Misty Mountain Reserve

Staying in the dome is a great experience! Outdoor shower (indoor one is available as well), hot tub, morning coffee with a view. Everything is comfortable. No issues with water, electricity or internet and all that comfort literally in the middle of nature! SPA was amazing! And they open up early (8AM) so we had a chance to get there twice in a one night stay! Easy check in and very friendly team on site! Love it! Highly recommended for couples!!

Food was OK / average.

Fantastic stargazing opportunity, very friendly and accommodating staff. The perfect place to spend a couple of days in Tsitsikamma and mind you….in reality it looks a lot better than on the pictures.

The secluded hive was a beautiful, private, place to spend the evening. The staff were so helpful and welcoming, they helped us with our luggage, showed us around the room, and we could order drinks to the room which was lovely. The night time view of the stars was really special, and in the afternoon the monkeys came out of the forest to say hi.

Amazing experience under the starts. The Storm hive is located in a fantastic location and you can enjoy the sunrise and sunset perfectly. You can experience 100% privacy and the staff is quite reactive and helpful. Location is 20min from the entrance of Tsitsikamma entrance park.

The quality of the dinner menu / food needs to be improved substantially. Starters are a no go, while the mains (in particular the meaty ones are good). Value for money is a question mark.

Firstly, the service we received from the whole staff was great. Secondly, we also enjoyed our hive, the room was well prepared and nice. Lastly, we enjoyed the warm bath outside.

Driving on the gravel road to the property was a bit challenging, but overall the stay was marvelous .

Einzigartige Unterkunft mit traumhaftem Blick aufs Meer. Wir haben insbesondere der privaten hot tub unter dem Sternenhimmel genossen. Bemerkenswert auch der aufmerksame und relaxte Service beim ausgezeichneten Abendessen. Die Qualität der Speisen beim Abendessen ist hervorragend. Danke für den wundervollen Abend. Das nächste Mal bleiben wir länger!!!

Beautiful place and so relaxing wish we was there longer! The dome we stayed in was amazing and the iron hot tub was great and outdoor shower was amazing. The main building was a gorgeous relaxing place for dinner and stunning sunset

The road approaching is a gravel track so is slow going

Very unique experience and a nice view/facilities. Cool to bring your stuff in a golf car & good food in the restaurant.

You couldn’t drink water directly, but they made sure there was enough bottled water available.

Loved the concept. Actually pretty spacious than I anticipated. Very secure, very lovely. We came during winter, but the blanket was super warm and cozy, we wish we didn't have to leave. Breakfast was warm and filling. The staff? Very attentive and just a call away.

Beach, forest and a bit of paradise in a hive.

I was worried about the wind and if it’s going to be loud at night, but it stood up quite well. Beautiful starry nights can be seen from the window. Staff are super nice.

The toilet in the hive is right next to the headboard….

We loved everything. We really had a great experience during our stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the check-in process was smooth. We appreciated the quiet atmosphere and cozy setting. Perfect for a getaway —would definitely recommend.

We cannot say enough about this magical place. Tucked away between rolling green meadows, majestic mountains, and dramatic ocean cliffs, this hotel is like something straight out of a dream. Every morning we were greeted by the most breathtaking view – the ocean stretching endlessly beneath us, kissed by golden sunlight. We stayed in the Storm Hive – a beautiful, pod-like residence perched between the trees, right at the edge of the cliff. It felt like our own private cocoon, surrounded by nature, with panoramic views and complete tranquility. The design was thoughtful and cozy, with both an indoor and outdoor shower, and a private hot tub nestled under the trees. Soaking in the warm water with the sound of the ocean below and the stars above was pure magic. What truly made our stay unforgettable, though, was the warmth of the people. The staff were some of the friendliest we’ve ever met – kind, welcoming, always ready to help, and clearly passionate about creating a special experience for their guests. From our first meal, we found the perfect table outside – and stuck with it, rain or shine – with an unobstructed view of the ocean and sky. We loved it so much that the staff always knew where to find us. We affectionately named it Tafel der Sterren / Stôl Hviezd – “Table of Stars” in our native Dutch and Slovak – a little symbol of where we’re from and the magic we shared under the night sky. It wasn’t just a table – it was ours, and it became the heart of our stay. If you’re looking for a place that feeds your soul, captures your heart, and leaves you with memories to treasure forever, this is it. We are already dreaming of the day we return.

The Storm Hive is idyllic! Overlooking the Indian Ocean in complete privacy. It is clean, modern and well equipped with some nice homely touches like blankets for outside, ground coffee etc. Has good WiFi, TV with Netflix etc, hot water. The on site restaurant is fantastic - for both breakfast (included) and evening meal. The staff and general hospitality were also excellent

Nothing - it was fantastic! Guests should note there is about 5km of dirt track driving to get to the property, but very doable in a normal car and absolutely worth it!

Loved the privacy of the hive. The little jacuzzi was great. Food options to either braai yourself or get at the amazing restaurant was a nice touch. We only stayed for one night but would of loved longer

One of the most beautiful places we ever been so far!! The view and the hive itself was stunning!! Its even better then on the pictures!! If you want a trip at the Garden Route you have to visit this place! But the most beautiful are the people there. They are so lovley and thankful, i appreciate it that the most! Unique accomotation with breathtaking view. Delicious diner in the restaurant!

Because there were more than 20 guests present, the breakfast was served on a buffet, which was good but the food on the menue was much more delightful.

I didn’t like the water from the borehole being brown. Also, it was difficult getting our luggage to the room. We would have appreciated some assistance like transportation with a golf cart

I just wanted to express my gratitude to Thembeka and her team Mandy, Luxolo, Jacky, Sima and everyone who made my stay at your accommodation magical this past weekend. From the moment I walked in at reception, your staff was welcoming, well prepared and friendly. It was my birthday on the 4th of October and they made my day extra special, they prepared a beautiful table decor, had a small cake made out for us and even sang for me. The room was spectacular, great views and the service of the staff was above and beyond what I know. This was truly what dreams are made of. So, thank you and please thank your staff for me! I will definitely post on all my social media platforms and recommend to everyone I know about this place. Please see attached picture of the great time we had, see you again all soon!!
