From the moment we arrived we were blown away by the way the hotel looked, how warmly yet professionally we were greeted and how from that moment on we received nothing but impeccable service. The breakfast was amazing but make sure you are hungry as the portions are huge and we could not finish the meal. The Estate Grill food was equally delicious and beautifully presented. The room was spacious and comfortable and we had an amazing view over the gardens. Already trying to find a date for us to stay again!
Nothing would stop us from giving this hotel 10/10 but if I had to find any fault it was that the hot water in our room was scalding so we had to be careful when using it. However, this was a very minor issue that took nothing away from the overall positive experience.
Last minute booking and turned out to be a little Gem ! Staff were great and helpful , room was adequate and had character to match the building , not modern but i was surprised how comfy everything was . The big stand out for me was the food , absolutely amazing . Will go back again and highly recommended!
Nothing !!
Beautiful old building Staff were extremely helpful
I was in another building and there are no lifts obviously due to the age of the property It was fine because the porter helped with my luggage
Coole alte Location, knarrende Böden, schleifende Türen, viel Charme
Nichts
The exterior was beautiful and the people working there were very kind and helpful. They also have two excellent restaurants
The decor, furniture, lighting was all abhorrent. It ruined the stay. The grounds could do with a little bit of charm, some fairy lights or more comfortable lounging areas
We had an early departure to Heathrow and your team was excellent in arranging our morning travel as well as coffee and pastries for the ride. The entire Fosters team from check in to check out really enhanced our stay at your beautiful property.
The history and grandeur
Staff were excellent, food of an exceptionally high quality and the hotel is in a great location for us
Tricky this one - nothing
Beautiful hotel perfect wedding venue
Poor air conditioning in room
Petit déjeuner, restaurant très bien
Un peu de bruit de la route et des avions 😬
Its history
The building is really nice, the gardens are amazing and beautiful. Really good food at the restaurant.
The bedroom was too small. The bed also was too small for 2. One pillow was dirty. Noise came from the road near to the hotel .
The grounds and pool
The room was so warm
Pool and grounds were as always lovely
Staffing poor and customer service variable some staff are lovely some are clearly not suited to a customer facing role. Food in main restaurant was not to the standard of previous stays
Le jardin, l’architecture Tudor originale
Le restaurant Grill, la rumeur constante des autoroutes alentour
The location.
Terrible experience. Arrived late. Broken lamp bed light resulted in near electrocution. Lights in the room could not be put back on. We moved to another room. No air condition super warm. Hotel staff accepted / recognised our misfortunes but nothing further.
The room was very attractive and had all required items such as kettle and tea/coffee/biscuits, TV, wi-fi, en-suite bath/shower. Dinner - tasting menu - was superb Breakfast also excellent - cereals, fruit, juice, full English/vegetarian etc, pastries Also enjoyed the very large swimming pool.
Everything was excellent! The hotel is beautiful and located in a stunning historic setting. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. We also enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the lovely surroundings. We would definitely stay here again.
Nothing at all. Everything exceeded our expectations.
Every single person we met went out of there way to greet us and were all super helpful
Breakfast a little cold and over cooked with hard eggs not runny.
Everything
Great staff, excellent bar including lunch, super bathroom .Good organising by concierge
Dinner poor, room small and no privacy
Architecture and history
Overpriced
Stunning historical house in beautiful gardens and surrounds. Breakfast was excellent
It was a hot day and evening and the dining room was uncomfortably hot.
Service and facilities superb
Our bed was not great sadly - dip in the middle but overall we LOVED this place
Super convenient for Heathrow but feels like the middle of English countryside. Beautifully restored and updated Immaculate and impressive gardens Very friendly staff Great interiors Grill restaurant was a very nice experience, atheistically and gastronomically. Entry level room was super comfy and big enough Bed was excellent Great shower pressure and just what you need after a long haul flight toiletries! Good breakfast variety and not over priced
Couple of slight glitches with the food and beverage. Sparkling wine was not chilled Hot Breakfast was not as hot as it could have been
Beautiful room, wonderful restaurants and staff. Historic setting was fantastic! Immediate garden area beautiful.
Some advertised features not available! Pool closed, archery closed. The 50 acre property was overgrown, and walking around meant passing rubbish tips. The prices we over the top!
The room was lovely and spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
As a result of the purpose of our stay we only used the restaurant for breakfast. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and faultless.
Thoughtless room allocation which had to be changed upon arrival. Questionable advice about guests. Room facilities chosen for appearance instead of functionality.
I loved my room and Teep Pee for my daughter. Room Was bery clean and comfortable.
No sauna, no indoor pool, no Easter decorations, no swimming pool until May. No deserts in the bar.
For the price, a bottle a wine in the fridge would been nice! I though the breakfast tag was expense, at the continental should be included
Breakfast price
Very welcoming
Very hot
J’ai tout aimé du jardin à l’hôtel. L’équipe est super! Chloé et Gabor et les autres aussi.
Most importantly is the front office staff especially GABOR he is amazing and extremely professional makes your stay worth it also JO she will go above and beyond to find a solutions Food and beverage amazing staff CHLOE she is very professional and runs an amazing breakfast experience with the assistants of EUNICE with her beautiful welcoming smile that make you feel at home
Historic, charming, convenient to Heathrow, setting is stunning too
Nothing
Amazing old building full of character. Wonderful staff, very friendly and efficient. Estate Grill was excellent. Lovely bedroom with good extras..coffee tray etc, nice slippers and good toiletries. Grounds are stunning
Reception staff are useless and rude
room
The hotel building and grounds are exceptional. We had a beautiful suite and gorgeous linen on the bed and towels in the bathroom.
In our 5 star hotel you expect the little extras- evening turn down service, staff pre-empting your needs in the restaurant and bar. These aspects we felt were missing.
Lovely setting, helpful staff, relaxing.
Height of summer and room was light a sauna. Didn’t sleep a wink.
The exterior is lovely. The pool and grounds really picturesque.
Did not have the ambiance or guest services of a 5* hotel. Quite shockingly poor reception at check in. We were told all the family rooms were sold out, however we only saw one other child on the property. We did not realized the main hotel did not have air con, and thankfully we were moved to adjoining rooms in another part of the property. No special activities or welcome for the children as advertised on the website (activities, picnics, small bathrobes). Limited hours for children at the pool and we were told the children could not keep jumping into the water, despite them trying to carefully not splash others. Not a family friendly or fun/relaxed environment for parents. Our older children were playing during children’s pool hours. Seems like the hotel is currently under poor management. Very young, very limited staff expected to carry out a luxury experience for guests seems unfair. Food and drinks were underwhelming, especially for the price, and service was very slow. While some of the staff was engaging, most walked past us looking very stressed. We made reservations for dinner under the impression things were very full, only to arrive and see many empty tables. We were looking forward to a special stay and this location didn’t meet the mark.
Stylish and luxurious, beautiful grounds and stunning food. Service was excellent and the rooms are absolutely gorgeous. Well worth it for a special occasion.
The outdoor pool which looked fab wasn’t open.
What a fabulous place to stay, a little bit of luxury to finish our 3 week Europe trip on and it delivered. My husband and I also had some spa services which were divine. The staff were very friendly and service was incredible. We would 100% visit again.
Beautiful property festive and charming decorations
Walking on stones outdoors in heels
I loved the hotel and the room. The breakfast was amazing and overall, it was a brilliant stay where I felt looked after. Thank you
For luxury (at a price) you cannot beat Great Fosters. We knew it was going to be a fantastic stay and had high expectations which on the whole were met. Our meal at the Tudor Pass restaurant was stunning and the service in the hotel is out of this world. The bed in our room was super comfortable - bath and shower fabulous and the decor is a great example of taking a box (room in the coach house) and making it feel cared for and thought out. Simple but with careful twists.
COST It's the cost really. I felt as if I was being charged just to breathe in the luxury and I don't think it needs to be that. It is a Michelin starred restaurant and as such you expect elevated prices and I cannot fault the food or service but I had thought there was an option for the shorter courses menu. I have eaten long course lunches here before so didn;t relaly need the signature taster menu- in the end we were in there for nearly 3 hours and combined with the fact we had a cocktail in the bar beforehand, the bill felt sinful. I was shocked and it means I won't be at the January sales! I guess that is how the other half lives. BRING A PHYSICAL CREDIT CARD There was also a moment with reception regarding the fact we had not brought a physical credit or debit card with us. This meant we could not use anything extra in the room or something because they could not take a £100 gurantee. I felt constrained by that and whenver I opened the fridge i epxepcetd the concierge to appear! I didn't know if the water in the fridge would be charged (I have been in other 5* plus hotels around the world and usually it is free) so I went without - there is always tap water! FIX THE DEEP HUM ON THE HEATING And the final thing, if we are talking about luxury - can you fix the noise on the heating in room 36 please - whenever it was on there was a loud low hum which was unacceptable. We turned the heating off in the end - thankfully the room was warm enough.
A beautiful historic hotel with stunning grounds and very helpful staff.
We were very disappointed with our stay. In the first room we were given, the bathroom light was not working. We were then moved to Room 55, where unfortunately the heating and the internet were not working either. We asked for an electric heater, which was brought to the room. The mattress was too soft and the pillows were uncomfortable. Overall, these issues took away all the magic and beauty of what is otherwise a lovely place.
The "English Breakfast" was excellent but the breakfast menu was disappointingly limited. Did not try other meals and their menus. Size and layout of the room was good but it was cold with poor, noisy heating. Hotel location was fine - very easy to find.
Disliked the gravel driveways and footways. The main carpark is in need of urgent maintenance/repair. Using a single sized duvet in a double sized duvet cover, with the excess folded under, was hugely uncomfortable. The wash basin in the bathroom gets 9/10 for appearance and 1/10 for functionality.
All staff very friendly. We have Christmas tree in our room that was lovely. Lady from reception very helpful . We definitely come back
Stunning setting full of history and grandeur. Good food and drinks.
Bed uncomfortable and needs replacing. Smelly bathroom/noisy old loo. Tiny TV. Some rooms are a schlep from the main building and involve going outside.
The food was good
Rooms were far too hot and could not adjust temperature. Lights on switches apart from one that you have to use a remote to turn it off. Annoying as wasn’t told. Decoration in room was old and tired and in desperate need of updating. Rug was threadbare. Laminate flooring chipped badly
When reading at the fireplace at 21.00 and asking personal to keep it burning with a new log.. the anwer was no: we let it go out!! Very unhospitable girl. Wedn 12 nov 2025.. also they say after handing you you some food: i say thank you.. they say ‘no problem’ no problem no problem.. sounds negative.. use my pleasure or you’re welcome
Beautiful location and the decor kept in keeping with property. Wonderful manicured gardens. The outdoor heated pool was a treat. Good food and service all round. Room was comfortable.
No detailed bill at the end of stay. King bed is on the small side more of a EU queen size.
It was perfection.
Nothing.
Quiet and out of the way. Luxury accommodation close to London

Food- Breakfast & Dinner
Room Service- Very poor. Even when I walked uptown the Reception to request for something, say ICE CUBES or anything, they always forgot/ missed to deliver. Happen more than once. So it's not one off misses.
We had a lovely stay for our anniversary at the Great Fosters. Especially our meal at The Tudor Pass exceeded our expectations.
The only issue we encountered was that after reading clearly online that the pool is closed for winter and won't reopen until May 26 (https://alexanderhotels.co.uk/great-fosters/leisure/treatments-at-great-fosters/) we were told by the reception that the pool is still open to use. But we had of course not packed any swimwear based on the information online.
Comfortable rooms and beds.
Wish we could have driven in front of hotel in rain.
Historic, beautifully comfortable, wonderful staff, atmosphere
Lovely to walk to gardens.
Nothing.
Beautiful building in a very convenient location. Staff were fantastic (at front desk and in the bar) , and could not do enough to attend to your needs. Upgraded my room upon check-in.
The menu in the bar is a little bit restricted - but the burger is really good!
The room was in the servants quaters, very samll and not well equiped.
The room was tiny
