Reviewed Jul 21, 2026The Host was friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect, close to all amenities. The cottage is absolutely stunning with everything one could need. Very clean and well maintained, the bed was amazingly comfortable. We would definitely love to stay there next tie we are up that way.

Reviewed May 8, 2026I really enjoyed the peace & the ability to come and go. I also enjoyed that it was cosy. I would say please ask the Host which gate holds your key 😅 as in the dark you not able to see the Studio or Cottage near the gates. Also it gets really cold in the winter so there is no aircon please ask the Host for the gas bottle to heat the cottage 🫶🏻 There is no washing machine. I enjoyed my stayed & really grateful to the Hosts for making my stay comfortable!

Reviewed Mar 22, 2026The cottage was in a lovely neighbourhood, with lots of facilities close by. The cottage itself has been done to a high standard, loved the cosy cottage feel. From the moment I arrived I felt safe and didn’t want to leave - even tried to book an extra day but someone had already booked it.
Needs tha driveway to be a bit better lit, especially when guests are coming in at night it seems a bit dim.

Struggled with the gas geyser and controlling the hot water in the shower. Kept going cold, and then one had to switch off the taps and try again . Seems to be a problem generally with gas geysers everywhere.

Nothing really. Power went out in the entire suburb, but the owners let me know about it and there are standby lights available, this is entirely out of the owners control.

It had everything we needed, from the cutlery to warm blankets and the gas heater. Alina was very welcoming and the host was very helpful as well, the service was expectional. Definitely booking our next stay with Nels cottage again.
The wifi went down for a while, but the host did explain that it was an issue with Afrihost, but it was soon sorted out.

Reviewed Sep 29, 2024Nel's cottage is the perfect place for me to stay on my business trips to Johannesburg. It's quiet, peaceful and very comfortable. Charlene is a super host. It's beautifully decorated and conveniently located nearby to work as well as shops and major roadways. All-in-all a great place to call my home-from-home.
There are no downsides to this place for me. It's perfect!
