The fact that this unit is still available to book even after numerous reviews adressing the same problems is an absolute disgrace of the owners grabbing at money. The unit is very run down, dirty and maintenence is non existent. All the bad reviews is true, even after years of it being known. Do not bother booking!

Reviewed Apr 11, 2026The place was so quiet and the location was easy to fine. The cottage is quite spacious and had everything you'd need. The was no electricity in the area but we didnt even realise because the place has backup. We had such an amazing time.
The bed is not uncomfortable. The shower has a heating pump so it was quite difficult to find the right temperature so you either showering with hot or cold water.

Not really your fault, but the unit is noisy in bad weather with branched etc falling on the tin roof.

Reviewed May 5, 2025The cottage looked exactly like pictures and was easy to find and check in and out of. My only regret is spending such a short time there! I would definitely rebook at the Puffin's Nest for some cozy time away from home.
We could have used an extra blanket or heater because it was quite cold, but we got by fine without them.

The way my clothing was kept. No wardrobe some clothes are not meant for exposure to dust and dust is everywhere even in the most clean area. I could not operate the air conditioner according to my need I don't know what was the problem. It was raining on the day and I could hear a big leak hitting on the ceiling on top of my head and I could not sleep well. Too much weed at the back made me to feel unsafe because of snakes and other reptiles.

Reviewed Dec 26, 2024Contactless checkin was amazing and super easy. Kitchen has everything you might need. Hosts arranged for a camp cot for our little one which made the stay over A LOT easier as we didn’t have to set one up ourselves. Overall a great place to stay over, private, and well kept.

Great accessibility to the nearest shop, pharmacy and hospital (should this have been needed for any reason). Very clean and comfortable, and catered well to needs. Definitely great value for money. I would easily book again when staying in Hilton.

We tried every trick in the book to get a steady flow of warm water out of the shower - either boiling hot or cold - maybe there is a trick to make it work - which needs to be advertised ? From experience, gas geysers are generally useless- but obviously have their pros during loadshedding…
