The apartment owner is a doctor who lives abroad. So can’t blame him, The person who holds the key is a lady who is very difficult to deal with—she’s always complaining. During the first meeting, she appeared friendly, but if you ask her about anything, she immediately starts lecturing you, insisting that you have no right to ask. I initially booked the apartment for 5 days, but due to an unexpected surgery, I extended my stay to 8 more days—for a total of 13 days. When I asked her for toilet paper, she gave me a long lecture, saying it’s not my right to ask and that “this is not a hotel.” I paid a large amount in their currency—over $1000 USD—yet something as small as toilet paper, which costs barely a dollar, became a big issue. The apartment’s location is also not suitable, especially for someone used to living in the West. It’s right above a minibus station, with constant shouting and honking from 6:00 AM until well past midnight. Then, starting around 11:00 PM, a chorus of street dogs begins barking—sometimes 20 or 30 at once—lasting until around 6:00 AM. It was literally impossible to sleep. Because of this, I left the apartment early and finished the rest of my stay at a respectable hotel for the same price—but with a huge difference in quality. It was a miserable experience. I will never repeat it.
The place is spacious and has a homey feel to it. We found it extremely comfortable for us and our two children. There were instructions on how to use everything in the apartment. The place had a lot of drawers for our use. It's on the fourth floor but there were two lifts for our use. The landlord was very welcoming and very quick to answer any questions we had. We definitely will aim to use the place again whenever we visit Cairo in the future.
