Saleté, présence d’insectes, manque de transparence, petit déjeuner mal indiqué et qui n’est pas au même endroit que l’auberge

De badkamer stinkt ontzettend en leek bij aankomst al dagen niet schoongemaakt. Overal haren, een ontzettend vieze wc en een steeds erger wordende geur. Ook is het ’s nachts erg warm op de kamer want de AC werkt niet goed. De rooftopbar is niks bijzonders en er lopen ratten over de tafels wat erg onhygiënisch is. Het hele gebouw oogt niet schoon. Later zag ik een kakkerlak op de muur naast mijn bed. Nadat ik dit midden in de nacht bij de receptie meldde, wilde ik vooral eerder uit het hostel vanwege de hygiëne. In plaats van excuses aan te bieden of naar een oplossing te zoeken, begonnen ze alleen maar over dat ik een slechte review zou schrijven terwijl ik daar nooit over was begonnen. Toen ik daarna terug naar mijn kamer ging zag ik nog veel meer kakkerlakken en zelfs kakkerlakken in mijn bed. Toen was het voor mij echt genoeg en ben ik weer naar de receptie gegaan, dit keer met video’s van de kakkerlakken in mijn bed. Gelukkig werd er toen wel serieus op gereageerd en kreeg ik een andere kamer. Ook deze kamer was niet goed schoon en de badkamer stonk. De locatie is perfect, maar qua hygiëne en ongedierte is dit hostel echt geen aanrader. Er zijn veel betere hostels in Hanoi!

Ragazzi che dire, probabilmente il miglio ostello ad Hanoi! Camere silenziose e letti comodissimi, riguardo al proprietario posso dire che è una persona super gentile e che conosce ogni cosa della zona, mi ha aiutato a prendere il bus per l'aeroporto e indicato ogni posizione esatta. Poi 10 stelle alla colazione inclusa, la piu abbondante e buna della città!

é stata la seconda volta in questo ostello e ribadisco quanto detto nella prima recensione, il miglior ostello della città! Prprietario persona fantastica! letti comodi e stanze silenziose e con aria condizionata!

位置好，虽在闹市区但是房间超级安静，干净整洁，床品枕头都是质量很好的。早餐营养搭配的也不错，中西人群都能满足，离还剑湖也近。

Had a really great stay at DownTown Hostel! 🫶 The location is perfect, the vibe is friendly and welcoming, and the staff were super helpful. It’s a great place if you’re travelling solo and want to meet new people while still having a comfortable stay. Also the breakfast was too yummmy

Everything was great overall; only minor improvements in cleanliness and noise control would make the experience even better

Honest review The hostel’s infrastructure is pretty much what you would expect from any backpacker hostel. Another great thing is the breakfast. This is the first backpacker hostel I’ve stayed at in Asia where breakfast is actually a buffet, with bread, vegetables, coffee, pancakes, fruit, and more. Definitely a nice bonus when you’re travelling on a budget. But the second, and most important, thing that stands out is its manager, Phil. Besides having an excellent level of English, Phil genuinely makes your life easier. He doesn’t just offer you tours like most hostels do; he actually helps you plan your entire stay in Hanoi. He can even connect different excursions and activities in a smart way, helping you save time and avoid unnecessary backtracking. I also really appreciated how comfortable I felt talking to him. At no point did I feel pressured to book anything through the hostel. In fact, even when I already had tours and activities arranged through external providers, Phil still helped me with the planning and, whenever possible, matched the price I had been offered elsewhere. That really made me feel like his priority was helping me have the best experience, rather than simply making a sale. Need a place to exchange money with a good rate? An ATM that doesn’t charge you a fee? Or even somewhere to fix the zipper on your backpack? Phil knows where to go. Overall, the hostel itself is good, but Phil is what really makes this place stand out. If you’re staying in Hanoi, I’d definitely recommend it.

Location was very central and the staff very polite and helpful. The breakfast was amazing, a really big buffet.

Toilets aren't that clean. They should be cleaned more often.

Sehr freundliches Personal und super Lage mit super Früstück.

Really nice spot in the Old Quarter, in walking distance to a lot of the attractions in town. The breakfast is delicious and has a lot of variety. But the real highlight was the host, Phi, who was super friendly and helpful all throughout the stay. He was able to help me with planning for Ninh Binh, Ha Long/Lan Ha bays and with the continuation of my trip after Hanoi, so it was a huge help (and super convenient to be able to do it directly from the accomodation!). Thank you Phi, see you next time in Hanoi!

El hostel esta en old quarter que es donde esta toda la vida nocturna, los restaurantes y los sitios donde comprar, el anfitrión phi fue muy amable en todo momento y muy gentil En cuanto a las comodidades de la habitación todo correcto camas cómodas, ducha excelente y un desayuno buffet donde puedes comer todo lo que quieras.

I had an amazing stay at this hostel and ended up extending my stay for another two weeks after my original Booking.com reservation because everything was just so easy and enjoyable. The hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming. From the moment I arrived, they provided all the information I needed and helped me organize everything. I booked all of my tours through the hostel because it was so convenient, and every single tour was beautiful, well-organized, and exceeded my expectations. The location is excellent, with easy access to everything you might need. One evening, the hosts organized a dinner for everyone staying at the hostel, and the host's wife cooked a delicious homemade meal for us. It was such a lovely experience that made us feel truly welcome and at home. They also provide the best breakfast I had during my trip. There was a great variety of options and plenty of fresh, delicious fruit every morning. The hosts are genuinely wonderful people who care about their guests and create a warm, friendly atmosphere. During my time here, I made so many great friends, which made the whole experience even more special. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable stay, great tours, and exceptional hospitality. I would definitely stay here again!

I loved my stay here! Phil was an absolute legend - always so friendly and welcoming, down for a chat and super helpful. It was a perfect location from which to explore the city! The dorm room and facilities were nice and clean and there are lockers in the room for your stuff. The buffet breakfast included was good and nice to socialise with people from the other hostel. The rooftop bar was the perfect spot to do yoga and watch the sunset!

The dorm rooms are a little cramped and the beds are a bit hard, but I was lucky enough to share with really lovely, respectful people so space wasn’t an issue for me!

The receptionist was very helpful when I need it.the breakfast was very good.the bed was comfy enough for a hostel.

Was not enough places for socialize but was ok because the location is exactly in the center of old town and you can go outside.

Great location and really amazing staff. They organise such great day trips that are so well planned - I did the Lan Ha Bay Tour , Sapa Trek and Ha Giang loop through them and it was all so well planned! A special mention to Phi who was so lovely and organised everything for me personally, He also kept in touch throughout my various trips to ensure I was getting on okay, top service!

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Book Ha Giang here, the tour was out of this world, so well organised and the sights are spectacular. Although there were lots of people on the tour we went in smaller groups of 10 or so and met up with the other groups for lunch / dinner and the last night party. Guys you are all amazing, thank you!!

We had an amazing stay! The location was perfect, with everything within walking distance. They offered free walking tours, which were a great way to explore, and also arrange longer trips like Ha Long Bay, Sapa, and the Ha Giang Loop. We booked the 3-day, 2-night Ha Giang Loop, and it was absolutely fantastic , Amazing the north VIET NAM , THEY OFFER FRE NIGHT STAY AFTER BACK FROM THE LOOP . The staff was always reachable via WhatsApp and helped us with any questions. We felt very comfortable and well taken care of. Highly recommend

Only one ensuite bathroom for a whole dorm, which isn't enough and it also had an unbearable smell of sewage. I could barely stand to be in the room. Even just some air freshener would help. It was genuinely unbearable. Also, the dorm floor clearly wasn't swept, as I dropped a top on the floor and picked it up covered in hair (and it definitely wasn't mine!).

Right in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, you’re literally steps away from all the action - beer within 20 metres! The rooftop is fantastic, breakfast is delicious, and the staff are incredibly kind, friendly, and always ready to help. I’ve travelled across Asia and this is easily one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Super clean, unbeatable location, and amazing city views from the rooftop. Truly couldn’t have asked for more. 11/10 - keep it up team, you’re doing an amazing job!

Staff was super friendly and helpful! The breakfast was more than expected. I booked four excursions and my next flight at the hostel and can say that the organization was really exceptional! I would love to do it all again, it was so great!😀 I did the Ha Giang Loop, the Perfume Pagoda, Ninh Binh and Ha Long Bay. It was just great!😀 Definitely recommend to all backpackers who are travelling to Hanoi.

The staff are super lovely and the bed was so comfortable. It was great value for money. The bathrooms were pretty clean too. The rooms could’ve been a bit bigger but were easy enough to manage. The breakfast is soooo good, but it is at another hostel which is only a minutes walk away. The location is great, it’s right on beer street but not loud. I also extended my stay 2 extra nights.

La habitación era espaciosa, la cama cómoda y con lo necesario. El baño tenía un poco apartada la ducha por lo que casi siempre estaba seco. El desayuno era increíble y me daba para comer también. El dueño era muy simpático y me ayudó en todo.

Quizás un poco de luz natural en la habitación, pero tampoco era necesario.
