I’ve been traveling the world over for my entire adult life. This was the most peaceful place and the safest I’ve ever felt. I finally could leave my door unlocked and not even imagine anything bad happening.

There was nothing I did not like.

A true hidden gem! Beautiful, spotless rooms, outstanding food, and exceptional service. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, making our stay feel like a five-star experience. Several activities such as Whaleshark diving and waterfalls are just minutes away. Special thank you to Melba and Eduardo for their warm hospitality—we can’t wait to come back!

It was so peaceful and serene. Everything I needed was there because if it wasn’t Melba, Eduardo and their staff were there. This place is a gem.

There was nothing not to like.

I highly recommend anyone to stay here. The hospitality from everyone was exceptional. I will definitely return and stay here again. The food was fabulous. We had great breakfast every morning and we had the most delicious dinners of an evening with great cocktails and beers. We thank all of you for a great 3 nights.

The owners of the place were super nice, and if you're planning to explore the area or travel to Negros, it's a nice off-the-beaten-path place to stay, and great food.

der Nachbar züchtet Kampfhähne und hat zig Hunde - auch Mario hat an die 7-8 Stück davon. - Da kann sich jeder gut vorstellen, wie ruhig die Nächte abgelaufen sind... - man will ja keinem Tier was böses, aber da hätt ich den Hähnen am Liebsten den Hals umgedreht... - das sollte halt schon wo erwähnt werden. wir sind dann einen Tag früher abgereist

I love Melba's! That statement sums up my stay at the place. It's far from other resorts, but it has undeniable charm. It's simple but clean and well-maintained — that goes for both the rooms and the general environment. ‎ ‎The magic of Melba's lies in its delicious food and beachfront location. I love taking a dip after my bountiful and delectable breakfast. No joke, their breakfast can be so much better than the plated breakfasts big resorts in the PH offer. ‎ ‎The room is functional and has everything you need, from drinking water and toiletries to clean white bedding. They even provide slippers, which most accommodations don't. The room is bigger than most resorts, has its own bathroom, and terrace. The bed is also very comfortable, it's fluffy and they gave me four pillows. Lol They are also very helpful and accommodating with requests. In my case, I had to move my stay by a day since I was recovering from an illness. They said yes without an extra fee and gladly helped when I asked to be picked up at the bus stop because I wasn’t allowed to carry heavy things yet. ‎ ‎Everyone is so friendly, including the owners. They understand the value of Filipino hospitality. ‎

None If you are sensitive with noise, the dogs can be noisy (when disturbed,) but they are totally harmless and well-taken cared of by Melba's. Just putting this here so you get to expect them.

La chambre était très propre et nous avions une petite terrasse à l’arrière.

Pas de réel accès à la plage. C’est plus un restaurant qu’un hôtel. Nous sommes d’ailleurs arrivés pendant le rush du repas de midi. Ils nous ont proposé de manger sur notre terrasse car plus de place dans le restaurant, ce que nous avons apprécié. Par contre très mauvais timing. J’avais fini mon plat, alors que mon fils n’avait toujours pas eu le sien. Et les assiettes et couverts sont restés sur la table toute la journée. Il a fallu que je leur demande de venir débarrasser…

Dit was de enige locatie op 3 weken tijd waar we het gevoel hadden dat ze je financieel wat uitbuiten. Bv Mondelinge afspraken die plots niet meer gelden… (huren scooter) dus goed afspreken op voorhand!

Fantastic beach resort! Great location that is close to the whale sharks and sardines/turtle’s snorkeling spots. Amazing sunrise/sunsets. World class food from a huge menu. Eduardo and Melba were so gracious and welcoming. The entire staff were terrific. The room was good with all the usual amenities and had a comfortable bed and hot water was plentiful. Great chats with Eduardo and helpful information about the area and this particular beach resort. So glad we came Absolutely positively recommend this property.

Great place to stay and unwind with good food and relaxing music.

This place is located slightly outside the main area. It takes about a 30-minute walk to the nearest 7-11. The property is also a restaurant, and we had dinner here one night—the food was delicious. The breakfast they provided was excellent as well. I highly recommend this place for people who prefer to stay away from busy and crowded areas. The owner helped us book the whale shark watching activity in advance, so we didn’t need to wake up early or wait in line. It was definitely worth it. The tuk-tuk driver arranged by the owner was also very kind (additional fee required). He waited for us after the whale shark activity and then took us to the port to catch our boat. It was a wonderful experience and a great trip overall.

The bathroom faucet was leaking a little.

Das Restaurant hat uns so verwöhnt, dass wir am liebsten elf Punkte vergeben würden. Alle Gerichte wurden extra für uns glutenfrei zubereitet. Das hat uns den Aufenthalt mehr als versüßt. Eduardo hat einen wunderschönen Tauchtrip zu Sumilon Island und eine Tour zu den örtlichen Wasserfällen organisiert. Das komplette Personal war höchst kompetent und unglaublich freundlich. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und riesengroß. Die Terrasse lud zum verweilen ein und das Meer war nur einen Steinwurf entfernt. Schnorcheln!!! Nochmal 1000 Dank für die schöne Zeit.

This is a small homestay where you leave a little bit of your heart behind when you go. Everything here is just perfect for relaxing and enjoying a beautiful meal (or 7) with a family that cares about making your stay enjoyable. The room was extremely comfortable and the location is superb with the waves lapping the perimeter as you enjoy the best food in Oslob. I can’t fault it.

Super nette Eigentümer, der Besitzer war Koch in Europa und Sudan, das Essen ist hervorragend und so liebevoll angerichtet. Das Zimmer ist neu und hübsch..5 min zur Hauptstraße (Bus). Wir sind mit dem Bus zu der Straße zum Wasserfall gefahren und von dort 2,5 km den Berg rauf als kleine Wanderung

Die üblichen Kampfhähne vom Nachbarn. Das ist auf den Philippinen leider ein unvermeidbares Ärgernis, aber ein big business.

The Accommodations Our stay was absolutely perfect. We booked a 2-room suite that was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Having a private balcony was a huge plus—it was the ideal spot to relax and take in the surroundings. The Atmosphere & Grounds The residence itself is enchanting. It is uniquely built around massive, lovely trees that provide a natural canopy over the shoreline. The architecture blends perfectly with nature, creating a peaceful, shaded oasis. Dining & Food The on-site restaurant is exceptional. The flavors were fantastic, and they served rich, delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was so convenient (and tasty) that we rarely felt the need to eat anywhere else. Location & Sea Life If you love the water, this location is unbeatable: Instant Access: Only 5 steps from the property to the shoreline. The Sea: A short, 200m walk through shallow seagrass leads you to the open sea. Snorkeling: We saw beautiful corals, plenty of fish, and even turtles! The Host A special thanks to Eduardo. He is a wonderful host—calm, resourceful, and incredibly supportive. Whatever we needed, he was there to help with a smile. Summary: This place is a gem. Between the trees, the sea life, and the hospitality, we truly didn’t want to leave. Highly recommended

Small leak in toilet was annoying

The staff was nice and willing to accommodate us with an early breakfast, the food was very good. The entire accommodation was clean, the bed was comfortable, parking is possible here. There is a treehouse for a couple where you can enjoy a romantic dinner.

The air conditioning was so noisy that it was impossible to turn it on at night, neither for us nor for the surroundings. Every breakfast they were repairing or painting something, so unfortunately you could smell the smell of paint or hear nails being hammered. There are no sun loungers, no beach. The sea was very murky, a lot of algae, snorkeling was not possible. This is not an accommodation where you can enjoy a day on the beach with a book in your hand. Ideal for dinner and a sleepover and being on a trip all day.

Moře pro plavání a šnorchlování. Čisté, kvalitní a funkční vybavení. Profesionální a přátelská rodina. Absolutně nejlepší kuchyně na Filipínách, určitě ochutnejte i když pojedete jenom okolo. Romantické posezení i v koruně stromu. Filipínský majitel je perfekcionista a vařil po celém světě. Pobyt jsme si oproti plánu o čtyři dny prodloužili. Děkujeme, určitě se vrátíme.

È una guest house confortevole in cui rilassarsi fuori dal caos. Si affaccia su una piccola spiaggetta e c’é un giardino in cui godersi un buon libro. Ottima cucina, staff molto gentile. Lo consiglio se amate la tranquillità e le vacanze semplici. Ottimo come appoggio per andare a fare snorkeling e diving (i proprietari vi possono mettere in contatto con le strutture e organizzarvi un pick up)

If I knew it was such a good place, I would stay longer. Unfortunately I had a flight booked earlier, so we were not able to stay longer. The location is beautiful, nature around, a small reef to snorkel. The facilities are cute and nice. The kitchen is just perfect. The hosts are super-kind and welcoming, the service people are professional and nice. We had a great experience staying there.

Lovely location away from main road, very homely feel, as soon as I arrived I felt relaxed. Melba, Eduardo + their wonderful staff were so helpful and kind. Loved the “Tree House” spot for breakfast. Very relaxing place, garden area out back of room was great too. Menu was great with plenty of variety - Best Mango Smoothie! Thank You Melba, Eduardo & Team 🙏🏽

Probably more the roosters next door that was out of properties control. Little bitey ants, just make sure you have spray and you will be fine.

The accommodation was very pleasant, located in a quiet area away from the main road. The included breakfast exceeded all expectations — each morning we received a large plate of fresh fruit. A jug of water was always served with every meal. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. You could enjoy your meal on a raised platform built in a tree above the ocean waves. The hosts were very friendly. The room had its own spacious terrace. Staying here was a great decision! The accommodation had its own small private beach. During high tide, it was good for snorkeling, although you need to go further out into the sea to reach deeper water.

The best experience in the Philippines! 🇵🇭🌴 I’ve been to Palawan, Cebu, and Bohol — and this hotel is definitely the best choice! From the first day, everything was just perfect. Room: Spacious, clean, quiet. New air conditioner, fridge, kettle with coffee and tea, cups and glasses — everything you need. Big bathroom with good water pressure, hot and cold. Hairdryer too. The terrace was my favorite part — beautiful sea view and peaceful vibes. Food: Breakfast included, about 8–10 choices. All delicious! I stayed 5 nights and tried a new meal every day — everything was fresh and beautifully served. You can even eat right next to the sea. Sea: The hotel is seafront, so you can swim anytime. During high tide, you can literally swim from your breakfast table. Calm water, perfect for swimming, and sometimes you can spot turtles. Just bring aqua shoes. Excursions: Great location for exploring! You can snorkel or dive with whale sharks in Oslob, visit the ancient city, chase waterfalls, or go diving/snorkelling in Moalboal. Sumilon Island is close too — perfect for a day trip. The staff help organize everything, so it’s super easy. Service: Amazing people! Always friendly, smiling, and ready to help. They gave me great travel tips and even helped when my ferry time changed — let me stay longer and drove me to the pier. Thanks to everyone for making my stay so special. Truly the best experience I’ve had in the Philippines! 🌺💙

Everything was wonderful — the only thing I’d change is portion size. Even the small ones are quite big for one person. Maybe offer smaller or combo meals, so guests like me who love trying different dishes can enjoy more without wasting food.

Very charming place. Just by the water, with a 150-year-old tree and a swing adding to its simple beauty. Felt like you were a guest in a friend/family's home. If you love homey and rustic - this is for you!

Convenient location, professional, helpful and friendly staff, tasty food, idyllic view, convivial vibe... What would one want more? As for the location, it gives easy access to Sumilon island, Oslob (if you plan to go for a whale-shark activity) and other places that I didn't have time to visit. If you don't plan to lay over in the area, I recommend at least trying the restaurant. Salamat !

The location has everything you need. It is a remote area. If you want to explore the neighbourhood, you need transport. No problem for us, good to know.

Very clean and modern food was amazing being able to snorkel off your table while having lunch is even better. Steps riding into the ocean and your own private little beach.

Very clean in a great location. Lovely sea view just outside bedroom door and from the restaurant. The owners Melba and Eduardo (Eddie) were very welcoming and helpful, as were all the great staff. Had a couple of meals there, which were very tasty, so overall a fantastic place to stay.

Everything about this little hotel is so unique and lovely. It is set on the sea and you can hear the waves at night. The food is wonderful, the staff are so sweet and accommodating and the room was spacious and clean. Melba and Eduardo give you an authentic homestyle experience unlike any I've had in the Philippines. This really is a jewel of a place where you can relax, unwind and just enjoy nature.

Melba’s Homestyle was easily our favourite accommodation during our trip in Cebu! The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming and the staff was always ready to assist us with our needs. We also loved the food that you can get from the resort restaurant.

Wifi minimal to none in room, however our host Edwardo did his best to rectify this as best he could.

The staff was great, very clean and homey place, location was very convenient from the town, and a beachfront where you could chill and relax 🩵 BUT THEIR FOOD MENU WAS THE BEST OF ALL! only stayed 2 nights but could have been more and not worry about where to eat very good food 🤤

Props on the husband of the owner Eduardo! Great hospitality, welcome drinks and he helped us to plan our trip. Every recommendation we got from him were a hit! Also very honest when it comes to several places to go/no to go and that was much appreciated. Breakfast was great. Variety of filipino breakfast or typical american one. Food was very good and authentic since Eduardo was a chef before. Highly recommended to go there for lunch and dinner! All in all a great experience and will come for sure again.

A fantastic place. Like in paradise. Very good cuisine, a large selection. Very quiet location. Very friendly hosts and the staff was also perfect.

We had a superb time in Melbas. The apartment was super clean and cozy and the owner Eduardo with his family and Mr. Torres who had guided us over there are the most kindness people we have ever met. It was really beautiful time we spent there and I feel really sorry for ourselves we haven't had more time to stay in this little paradise. We totally recommend this place to all the travelers coming to Cebu. Oh, just not to forget, it's worth mentioning, that the cuisine is absolutely amazing here.

The food is great! Eduardo (husband of Melba) is a classically trained chef and he has diverse menu. The entire staff were very friendly and made me feel at home.

I would have liked a pool, but there is a small beach where you can access the ocean.

The owner of the hotel is a responsive and pleasant person, helps with any questions. Spacious and comfortable room. Yard overlooking the sea. Restaurant on a tree. Very good breakfast.

Check-in - we arrived at 8 pm, but the rooms were not ready yet. The place is not quiet - one day a music rehearsal began at 6 am (the hotel has a restaurant with live music).

This place was so nice right on the water and the grounds were beautiful. The restaurant was very good, we had all our meals on a table next to the water with a fantastic view. The owner was so nice and helpful, he help me find a motor bike to rent and provided a ride to the bus station when it was time to leave. The rooms were like brand new, very clean with hot water. Another thing I liked about the place it’s out of the way a little bit and it was nice to be out of the main tourist areas which were not that far away. It was a relaxing stay and would go back there again some day.
