The quayside location was a beautiful setting. We were heading to Santa Pod raceway, it was only 20 mins away so an ideal place to stay. The staff were pleasant enough, but clearly run ragged due to being overworked.
As with all GK places these days, it was tired and sadly neglected. Clearly run to the absolute minimum expenditure- a total of 3 teabags in the room. Mouldy grout all over the shower. We apparently cannot be trusted with actual toilet rolls, so a heap of tissues was left on the side. Breakfast was lukewarm, served on cold plates. The precious brown sauce was hidden away in a cupboard. The most decrepit old toasters managed to provide us with warm bread after 3 goes through.
The staff were fantastic people
Nothing
Convenient location, good car parking facility
Breakfast was horrible, the staff in the resaurant were rude, orders were wrong, bacon was like cardboard, not a pleasant experiance at all.
Location was good
Noise from rooms above and a constant smell of sewage/drains
Breakfast was awful booked 2 rooms but was told breakfast was only for the named person not our partners despite me showing a telephone log whete i was told differetly at breakfast staff were arguing food had largely run out by 9.45am when wr got there with no coffee and when a coffee was produced we had to get our own milk cooked breakfast was poor with eggs undercooked
Breskfast as above
Good location, nice clean rooms, good food
Nothing
Plenty of parking. Has food on site. Clean room and comfortable bed. Stayed a few times here and generally quiet.
Requested a quiet room but given a ground floor room facing car park so could hear and see the comings and goings of other guests and people just using the pub. Too tired to move rooms as it was for 1 night only. Also had a noisy person staying in room above ours who was walking (more like stamping around) in the early hours! Went on for ages. Noticed a sudden horrid drain smell in the night so had to close windows which made room quite warm. Never smelt that on previous stays. Would have complained in morning at check out but no one there and we were in a rush to get going to an event so didnt hang around searching for staff. Also, a fly was already in the room when we entered the room which was quite annoying having it buzzing around in the night. Couldn't catch it so left it.
Handy having restaurant close to the hotel. The location was great for what we wanted it for.
There was a horrendous smell of sewage/drains in our room which got worse at night that it made us heave. The restaurant service was terrible. Takes forever to be seated, they mixed up the order, the coffee and tea was completely cold at breakfast, the food took forever to be served. The Carvey was the best thing on one night but again took ages to get sorted at the till. Said we would have the deposit back quickly after checkout. But havent heard or had anything as of yet. Very disappointed
Very nice
Good location
Great location and fantastic price. Room was very large and clean
No air con however a plug in fan was in the room
Convenient for what we needed, friendly staff once we found them, clean good size room.
Not being aware beforehand of £50 holding deposit, not being able to find staff when we arrived to chat to re checking in at a late time to be reassured that would be ok.
We have stayed here each time we go to the Billing 4x4 Show and its always been fine.
Pubs looking a little tired but still absolutely fine. Staff are warm and friendly.
location is very good
All furniture needs to be replace carpet also
Very nice place
Everything was spot on
The pub and the food was nice
The bedroom smelt like mould and the beds were rock solid and there was only one towel
Pub next door was great, soft play for little ones and good food
Noise from above
We liked everything about the rooms the bed and the breakfast was lovely very good place to be.
The bathroom in the family room, as well as the noise from the foot, steps upstairs asvwe were downstairs the noise of the door.
Great place, great staff. Perfect for us.
Everything!! Great location, fantastic room with comfy bed! Fabulous staff! Brilliant tasty breakfast!
Nothing!
Nice place to stay. Good location for an early start and good food offer in the evening.
Everything
Comfy beds
Room was grubby, had to remove 5 spiders from the net curtains/curtains Toilet had a dark brown staiin in it
Very good
Nothing
Everything was okay especially breakfast was top notch
Staff at the Bar during night they were serving only people they know 😔
It was quiet
Poor coffee no cold meat chese for breakfast only cooked
Friendly, suitable for disabilities
Good value for money the rooms are nice and clean plus they have a restaurant and bar downstairs.!
The carpet in the corridor is a little bit old but not too bad.
Lovely outlook over the quay
It was a little warm in the bedroom
aircon not working
Easy to park. Quick check-in. Room was clean and comfortable. Did not use the restaurant but it was right next door if I'd needed it. Very good value for money and conveniently situated just off the A45
Although the hotel is by the river there didn't seem to be any access to walk around it. There was some noise in the evening from the nearby holiday park.
Not much.
Too hot. Too basic.
Receptionist said there was not any parking in front of hotell but it was clearly a free spot
Large car park. Good choice of food & drinks at a reasonable price. Nice outdoor seating area overlooking canal. Friendly staff.
I booked a "disabled " room, but......there was no walk in shower, just a bath, so be aware of that
Everything close to hand the only downside was the lack of air conditioning but will definitely return as very convenient location for what we wanted to do during weekend
No air conditioning but that's only an issue during this very unusual year weatherwise
There was plenty of parking and the hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable. For what I paid, it was excellent value and handy having the pub and restaurant next door.
A decent coffee machine at breakfast would be nice.
Location to the wedding of venue we were attending at Grendon Lake.
Unclean rooms, mold and mildew in the bathroom, dirty carpets, bugs in the bed, spiders on the wall, no hotel phone or refrigerator, no place to get water at night (no water fountain, water filling station or vending machines), no ice machines, no air conditioning and only small fans supplied by the front desk, unhelpful service at the front desk, no shampoo/conditioner in the shower, no toilet paper roll (just thin tissue type paper).
Good area
Too many spiders in the room
Local to our destination
Perhaps a little too busy in the local area
Good carvery in evening Good breakfast
Reception was excellent. It was quick, efficient and informative. The room was reasonably spacious. It was clean and adequately equipped. The bar/restaurant area was large. There is substantial decking area outside overlooking a canal environment which is great for a drink and relax. There are other residential options in the vicinity which provide bar and restaurant customers beyond the hotel's clients. It has a busy vibrant ambience. The staff are excellent and the meals good. Despite it being busy nobody seemed to be waiting very long at all - quite an achievement!
Would have been nice to have had breakfast on the decking.
Location
There was an awful sewage smell at night. Also the room needs decorating as marks all over the wall.
Omgeving ,goed bereikbaar

A very well run hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were comfortable, clean and modern. As we were attending a near by wedding it was really useful to have an iron and ironing board in the room, and good quality ones too. Spare towels and pillows provided. Really good experience all round.
This is a minor point but the shower screen needed some attention around the seal. This did not spoil the visit at all.
Excellent location
Absolutely no issues
Nothing
comfy bed nice room staff are good, breakfast was outstanding a Rachell the chef sets the buffet bacon, eggs, hash browns out so nicely and with care, great to see, a wonderful presentation of food and thanks to the rest of the attentive staff that made our stay so great.
nothing
Overall a good stay and comfortable
Smell from sewage plant
Had a carvary and a nice boat lake to look out on
Staff pleasant and efficient. Room clean with tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom was spotless.
Nothing all good
The hotel has a good feel about it with plenty of parking space and a beautiful view of the quay from the beer garden. The carvery is amazing and a good choice of beer and great quality breakfast fry up. For a visit to Northampton it is a great central location.
The hotel rooms do show their age, on arrival we did meet a member of staff but she quickly told us that she shouldn’t be there, also on each day we had to go to the restaurant to ask who was on reception. I also found that some of the bar staff could do with some customer training. The breakfast coffee is horrible, maybe a modern machine would be a great improvement and a modern toaster or 2 as there were too many people waiting. I think the hotel took advantage of the Grand Prix weekend, it was well over priced.
We walked in to a dirty room!
Stayed here a few times the venue is great , staff are always fab & helpfull & the food is fantastic at great prices
If i had to pick faults it would be the family room we had . Only 2 sockets all others blanked off so to charge phones we had to un plug the kettle & tv . Also shower curtain has black mould on bottom so needs new one .
breakfast was lovely
everything was lovely
It’s is a peaceful place

I booked The Quays by Greene King Inns after spending a considerable amount of time comparing hotels and Airbnb properties. I specifically chose this hotel because of its attractive location and the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Sadly, my experience was the complete opposite, and I now seriously question the authenticity and reliability of many of those reviews. This booking was for a close friend who had travelled from abroad to visit me. Naturally, I wanted him to have a comfortable and pleasant stay. Instead, I was left embarrassed and deeply disappointed. The first shock came in the morning when my friend tried to contact his family overseas. The hotel’s Wi-Fi had stopped working, leaving him unable to communicate with them. The second—and far more unacceptable—issue was that the bathroom contained absolutely no toiletries whatsoever. There was no hand wash, no soap, no shower gel, no shampoo—nothing at all. I have stayed in many hotels over the years, but I have never experienced a room where not a single basic toiletry was provided. The situation became so embarrassing that I had no option but to book another nearby hotel at a cost of £110 simply so my guest could have a proper shower. Imagine paying for one hotel and then having to pay for another hotel just so your guest can take a bath. That was money completely wasted because of this hotel’s failure to provide the most basic amenities. When I reported these issues to reception, the staff member simply apologised and explained that housekeeping was responsible for stocking the rooms and that he would pass my complaint on. While I appreciated his politeness, an apology did nothing to resolve the inconvenience, embarrassment, or additional expense I had already incurred. I had also requested, through my Booking.com reservation notes, a room with a pleasant view if available. That request was completely ignored.
Location as we used as a base to visit a family member in Northampton Hospital. Staff at hotel and restaurant very helpful and lovely. Restaurant was very nice and very good value for money.
The room had an odour that I think was likely cleaning products. The headboard in the room could do with some attention.
The room was excellent. Clean and spacious. Couldn't fault it.
Reception was unmanned most of the time. We had dinner 1st evening, it was ok. What put us off going back a 2nd night was a waitress brought water to a dog at a table outside, water had spilled on her hand & she let the dog lick it then proceeded to clear tables. I know she was lifting dirty dishes which was ok but when she reached for the ketchup bottle, with the hand the dog kicked, that really put us off. Basic common sense would have made her go wash her hands after touching the dog. Breakfast was tasty but the toasters took 10 min to toast the bread. Was told it was that the voltage wasn't strong enough to run them. The hot food counter was working and it requires a lot more voltage than a basic household toasters. Staff clocking on all came through breakfast bar & were loud. Also talking about other colleagues, very inappropriate.
the room was fine and parking was convenient. It is adjacent to a popular pub which can be a challenge at the end of the evening and people can be quite chattey when saying goodby to each other. Functional room, which if staying for work is all you need.
Wifi did not work but I just tethered from my phone
Rooms were spacious, the breakfast was good
Comfortable bed, nice location and the pub was convenient.
The toilet wasn’t very clean and some of the bar staff were grumpy.
Nothing
Rude staff. So many mistakes made. Travellers pushed us out of bar. Kids in 18s over section. Given a key for an already occupied room. Told we didn’t have breakfast when I’d paid for it. Up all night watch our van as travellers were crashing into cars all night. No sleep and worst stay ever! Rude bar staff! Hard bed, room smelt of drains the whole time. I will never return and waiting for manager to ring me as I want a refund for the stay and food!
Great all round
It was a hot place but pub area wasn't
The food and service at the restaurant for dinner was excellent.
Unfortunately there was an odour everpresent coming from the river/marina. We cancelled plans to walk around and explore the neighbourhood.

The staff here are a credit to their employers and I hope they are appreciated for that. The hotel is a lovely little hotel in a great location near Billing Aquadrome just outside of the main centre. The rooms are a great size very comfortable beds, cleanliness could be better ie: cobwebs on ceiling and mould in bathroom but I suppose they only have so long per room. Very good value for money. This year they have started taking a holding deposit which they didn’t last year and this year the breakfast is cooked to order I’m veggie so had veggie sausages they are ok I’d rather have bubble and squeak but that’s personal choice I was also offered beans or mushrooms not both (very sad) but another table with different server was offered both this is very nit picky by me and I would of liked toast too.
Breakfast more choice but very hot which I loved.
Very friendly staff , nice and clean
The room was very comfortable, and the breakfast was plentiful and tasty.
Wanted another chair in the room as there was only one.
Bed not very comfortable there was two ended up using both . Not a lot of coffee milk etc .But on a lighter note it was very good staff always pleasent . Good room for the cost doubled a week later for the same room 😁
The beds need to be firmer . . And more coffee and Milk
Amanda was extremely helpful with booking and on arrival.
Breakfast at £9 was reasonable but needed to be refreshed far more quickly than it was, for the amount of customers on the day.
good location
no aircon
Position and staff
Shower had black mould in the corners
Welcoming staff, lovely room, great food and bar, great value.
No Aircon, room warm.
We stayed at the hotel and had breakfast and dinner at The Quays Pub, that’s part of the hotel. The hot food section was limited to a single visit. Knowing you can’t go back for more, you’re almost forced to overload your plate to avoid being hungry later. It makes for an awkward and unnecessary experience. In the evening, the pub itself was disappointing. On both nights we visited, the kitchen closed at 8:30 p.m., even though the website states that food is served until 10:00 p.m. This was frustrating, especially for us who were returning from silverstone F1 Grand Prix and counted on the dinner there. What affected the experience the most, however, was the atmosphere. The staff seemed eager for the shift to end, and the waitresses gave the impression that they really didn’t want to be there. The service felt rushed and unwelcoming, creating a rather hostile environment that made us feel like an inconvenience instead of customers. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not live up to the expectations.
Clean comfortable accommodation
Nothing
I really enjoyed my stay here. As a solo traveler the staff made me feel very welcomed and safe. The pub/restaurant next door had lovely food deals and pretty solid food. Rooms were comfortable and loved the amenities.
Location of restaurant on the marina
That there was no notice prior to booking that a card is required for a £50 refundable room damage deposit is required And the van alarm going off several times late at night in the car park
Staff were very friendly and accommodating and the room was spacious. The pub next door was very useful for meals as well.
No aircon which is expected for the UK but a fan would be an excellent addition. It’s also quite far out from the city centre and the bus will take a while to get you there.
The room was located on the ground floor as requested, and near to our other guest. The restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent. The staff are so helpful, even when they are tremendously busy. The food is of a high quality. Would highly recommend the lasagne and of course the Carvery!
We had been to an outside event so we were really hot . When we checked in, our room was supposed to have been ready, but it had not been cleaned. So, we then had to go back to reception, and we were then allocated another room, which was OK, but then had to find a fan (it was the really, really hot weekend in June!!). Once we had cooled down, everything was OK!!
Location ,friendly staff and offers on food
Die Aussicht
Das Bad war nicht schön, hatten Schimmel im Bad und auch bei den Fenstern. Abendessen war auch immer wieder zu anderen Zeiten.
I tried to book an extra night, called and was told they couldn't did it I had to do it via booking.com, but when I tried to amend my it said there were no rooms available. I had been told by the person I spoke to on the phone there was rooms available, but she couldn't amend my booking. Anyway we didn't stay an extra night
Nothing
It was grubby and horrible.
Ground Floor
Basic accommodation for £100 a night. Only one socket to charge phones. This was by the kettle. The coffee sachets x2 where hard and should have been replaced. The sugar was also hard and couldn't be used. Only one teaspoon. However, staff where lively and friendly.
