Under the Boardwalk B&B Guest House

Wir hatten einen wirklich wunderschönen Aufenthalt! Alles war einfach super. Unser Zimmer war riesengroß, mit einem schönen Wohn- und Küchenbereich und vor allem mit einem unbezahlbaren Ausblick. 😍 Mit ein bisschen Glück kann man sogar direkt vom Zimmer aus Delfine beobachten ein absolutes Highlight! Das gesamte Personal war sehr freundlich und herzlich. Besonders Angelo hat uns bei unserer Ankunft sehr herzlich empfangen und dafür gesorgt, dass wir uns direkt wohlgefühlt haben. Auch das Frühstück war richtig lecker alles frisch und vieles selbst gemacht. Man merkt einfach, dass hier Wert auf Qualität und Gastfreundschaft gelegt wird. Absolut empfehlenswert! Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Vielen Dank für den schönen Aufenthalt! ❤️

TV in the room was broken. Seems they knew this because the remote was removed from the room. Toilet and shower light did not work. Saw a review from March saying the same thing, hopefully this is a separate instance. Living area is very cold due to poor insulation with the aluminium, so it basically renders the kitchen and living room unusable due to the winter cold. Privacy is questionable due to glass sliding door for a front door meaning other guests can see inside your accomodation. Snacks consisting of popcorn, marshmallows and coffee left in the room were stale. Overall not a bad spot but considering the price, I would’ve expected something much better.

Staff were friendly. A dedicated parking spot right at the room.

A wonderful location with an unique view over the shoreline of Wilderness. The whole team did everything to make our stay unforgettable from the parking of the to the breakfast and from the bunked in the children bedroom to the billard table. We enjoyed everything for two days only but it would be definitely worth it to stay for a few nights more to benefit of all the features of the captains cabin.

The light in the bathroom and the associated switching is the only suggestion for improvement that I can give. Due to the high humidity you can occasionally smell a bit of a musty odour out of the cupboard which diminishes after opening the windows. A point to mention but still we would highly recommend this place for a booking.

This was the perfect place to reset! It felt so calm being in the trees with the sea in the distance. We walked everywhere felt very safe and the staff gave great recommendations for dinner places and always helped with everything. The accommodation is great, so clean the room was huge and had everything we needed. We would for sure stay here again.

We liked everything about it but worth flagging that it isn’t suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the steep road up and all the steps.

Gute Lage und schöne Aussicht

Der Lack bröckelt etwas ab, trotz gehobenem Preis. Auch fehlt dem ganzen etwas Liebe. Bsp. Kein Begrüssungswasser im grossen Kühlschrank. Keine Batterie im Tresor, Duschschlauch in Badewanne angerissen, Fön ohne Adapter zur eigenen Steckdose, Liegestuhl am Pool bei Sitzfläche gerissen.

It wasn’t our favourite. Everything was tired. In our view, it need money spending on it. The best was the friendly service given.

Most of the furnishings were very tired. The pool area was lacking in comfort and design and also needed new sun beds and umbrellas. It also needed a good jet wash. The trees were overgrown so lmost of the fantastic scenery was obscured.

Location. Well appointed rooms with a stunning view of Wilderness Bay. Wonderful host with a huge attention to detail. Great breakfast and lively swimmers no pool.

Really nitpicking, but it’s a v uphill walk back to the property. Good for the heart rate! Of course, u cd always drive.

Melissa was super helpful before we arrived and also throughout our stay. Our room was lovely in the treetops and we could see the sea from the balcony. It was great watching the birds come into the treetops and also onto the balcony. Breakfast was great and a short drive to the restaurants.

Didn’t realise the steep hill which we had to drive in and park on which had uneven road surfaces from broken up bricks which wasn’t great to drive on in our car. My wife has slight difficulty walking and didn’t appreciate the number of steps required to get to our room, no lift available.

This family-run B&B is a true gem along the Garden Route. From the moment we arrived, Melissa and her husband made us feel incredibly welcome. They are the kind of hosts who genuinely care that you have the best possible experience. They’re full of fantastic local tips and happily help with reservations and activity ideas. Several great restaurants are just a few minutes away on foot, and the walk felt easy and safe. The beach is also only a few minutes away, which makes the location absolutely perfect. Our room was lovely, with a stunning sea view, and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was pure magic. The pool area is wonderful with perfect views, and breakfast was absolutely delicious every morning. Highly, wholeheartedly recommended!

Die Strand war bissel weiter weg... aber der Blick auf das Meer und das Meeresrauschen trotzdem beeindruckend...

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen! Die Unterkunft hat eine hervorragende Lage – man kann problemlos und sicher zu Fuß ins Zentrum gehen und viele schöne Attraktionen sind mit dem Auto schnell erreichbar. Die Zimmer sind von Bäumen umgeben, bieten viel Privatsphäre und vom Balkon hat man eine tolle Aussicht. Man kann sogar das Rauschen der Brandung hören. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und bemüht. Gut zu wissen: Das hauseigene Café ist derzeit geschlossen. Gäste erhalten Frühstücksgutscheine für ein nahegelegenes Restaurant, das zu Fuß erreichbar ist. Das Frühstück wird ab 9:00 Uhr serviert, die Gutscheine können aber auch für Mittag- oder Abendessen verwendet werden, was eine schöne Option ist.

Ein kleiner Nachteil war, dass das Badezimmer schon etwas abgenutzt wirkte und der Kleiderschrank einen leicht abgestandenen Geruch hatte. Ansonsten war es ein angenehmer und entspannender Aufenthalt in einer wunderschönen, naturnahen Umgebung.

She gave us great recommendations on where to go and what to do, and was always responsive throughout our stay, regularly checking in to make sure we were comfortable. The accommodation is perfectly located, clean and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend staying here

Toller Blick auf das Meer vom Zimmer/Bett aus, privater kleiner Balkon zum Meer, sehr ruhige Lage am Berg, man hat sich wie in einem Baumhaus gefühlt durch die vielen "Boardwalks", die zu dein einzelnen Gebäuden geführt haben. Melissa war immer ansprechbar und sehr sehr freundlich. Wir konnten abends in den Ort und wieder zurück laufen zum Essen. Haben uns sicher gefühlt.

Durch das schlechte Wetter (Regen, Kühle) war es ziemlich kalt im Bad.

Beautiful room with high ceilings and a very comfy bed! The view is spectacular and a lovely pool area to relax. Melissa is an awesome host! She sent us recommendations as to what to see and do in Wilderness but at the same time there was a great sense of privacy.

We had a lovely stay at thIs B&B in Wilderness. Great views of the ocean and location was just a quick walk to the beach and restaurants. The staff were all very helpful.

Rooms getting a little tired/grubby around the edges, probably a result of being the end of the season and noting a little attention would remedy pretty quickly. When I say grubby I mean a few marks around the paintwork, chipped furniture not to be confused with cleanliness which was absolutely fine. Perhaps a bit of a trim of the foliage would have made the view even more spectacular?

The view was stunning, wether it was from the pool, our room or the breakfast area. We even saw dolphins while having breakfast. Our room was just perfect from the furniture to decarations. You really feel how much love went into this place.

The breakfast could have more variety. It is quite simple but definetely enough to start your day.

Everything was so lovely! The room was very comfortable and big with an amazing view over the sea. The breakfast was really nice and all of the staff were lovely as well. Melissa could not have been more helpful giving us recommendations and advice. Would highly recommend for your stay in beautiful wilderness.

We were disappointed by the room/accommodation allocated to us. We feel the various types of accommodation (apart from the choice between self-catering and B&B) shown on the website, is in reality not available or not clearly/fully explained on the website. The owners were exceptionally friendly, gave us a room (which according to them was an upgrade from what we had booked), but this did not meet our expectations from what we saw and could have been our standalone villa as depicted on the booking.com website. The situation of having beautiful log-cabin villas with a porter on standby carrying your luggage up the many stairs to your villa/accommodation was not true. We were told that THAT section of the once, entire property (Boardwalk Lodge) had been sold off and is operated by other people (not specified). Hence our disappointment. If the latter situation is true, then it should be corrected on the website. The double room that we were given as an "upgrade" in comparison to whatever we had booked (we chose B&B as opposed to self-catering accommodation) was clean/neat with a lovely view but notwithstanding that, we had a room above us where we could hear people move about in the evening and it thus felt as if we were in someone's basement. The fact that we were handed a breakfast voucher for our last morning to use at The Girls restaurant left us thinking that since we were the last couple to check out the Monday, the effort was too great to offer us breakfast on the premises.

Amazing location, view and super friendly and helpful hosts!

The room / apartment was beautiful. We were only there one night but we wish we had stayed longer, there was an amazing BBQ area and balcony that we were not able to make use of. The cot bed was also perfect for our baby. The view and location was also spectacular. The hosts were lovely and went out of their way to help us and make us feel at home.

The room with its patio and…communal area?!…were simply amazing! Fantastic views over Wilderness and its beach and very spacious. Room has electricity even during loadshedding - very important. Location is great, walk to the beach was via some roads and past a petrol station, but short. Wilderness area itself has tons to offer.

There‘s a stove but apparently you‘re not expected to use it - tried to turn it on for half an hour and thought it was off due to loadshedding until we texted the host and found out there was a switch to turn on the stove‘s power hidden behind a painting. Toilet didn‘t always flush well, needed a bang against the side of the cistern until it worked properly. Travelling as friends, we would‘ve wished for a bigger bed and the bathroom door really afforded no privacy - this could be mitigated because of the spacious layout, though.

Melissa is a very nice and friendly host. Restaurants are very close to the Lodge, ten minutes to walk. Nice pool and some rooms are powered by batteries during load shedding. that's very positive.

Really awesome experience.  The room was stunning overlooking both the ocean and the wilderness lake with everything we needed to make our stay extra comfy. The owners are very pleasant and were fully committed to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They are also knowledgeable of available amenities in the area and more than willing to make any arrangements and bookings on our behalf. Great breakfast offered in house as well. We were able to safely walk to most of what Wilderness has to offer with a little bit of challenge to our fitness with all the hilly terrain. Looking forward to returning.

Melissa and the team made sure we had everything we needed, even though we stayed for only one night. The location is absolutely beautiful and well maintained.

Everything was above and beyond what we expected. The rooms were neat and tidy. The bed was incredibly comfortable and spacious. We had a spectacular view of the beach from our balcony. All of the finishes were luxurious and upmarket. The staff were all so friendly and professional in every regard. We were treated to a delicious breakfast every morning. The lodge itself is conveniently located and is within walking distance from every restaurant in and around Wilderness Our hosts Melissa and Chris were so welcoming and we had such an amazing time getting to know them. They are truly exceptional people. We could not have asked for a better way to see the end of 2022 and begin the new year. 10/10

Breakfast could be improved - coffee machine was broken so could not get a regular coffee (only plunger coffee) and a greater variety of breakfast options would be nice. Still was nice though.

The host was very friendly: they booked the tour for us, found the necessary socket adapter (Euro to SA), we could easily reach Melissa via WhatsApp if we had any questions. The scenery from the balcony is amazing.

The time slots for check in and for breakfast are very limited. Normally the hosts and the hotels are making them way broader since the guests have different excursions, trips, flights planned. The solution could be changing the official description of the property to give the possibility for the guests to coordinate with the host beforehand. Next, we were struggling with shower, toilet and the bathroom door all the time. In our room they require the maintenance otherwise they are hardly usable. Finally the property doesn't have any electricity generators or other solution. So when there is a load shedding you will be affected.

The view from the room was spectacular! Perfect location to explore Wilderness. The family who run the property gave great tips on local restaurants and activities.
