Reviewed Sep 14, 2025Loved our stay! Small but warm, comfortable, and private space, breakfast was tasty and the fresh bread was a nice touch. Water pressure in the shower was awesome. Just across the street from a great winery with nice food and drinks, but a perfect hub for exploring Alex and Clyde. Would definitely stay again.
Not a ton of table room inside if the weather doesn't support eating outside. TV took a bit to get sorted out but we managed by casting from our phone.

Reviewed May 13, 2025Wonderful location for exploring the Central Otago & Lakes Districts...Andrew & Karen are great hosts & were there to welcome us on our arrival plus the fantastic homemade breakfast"goodies" they supplied in the cottage...the cottage was warm, comfortable & cleaned to a high standard...we will definitely be back to stay again & next time bring our mountain bikes to ride the nearby trails.

Reviewed Mar 29, 2025Excellent breakfast with home made bread, yoghourt, etc. Comfortable bed with AC in case it is very hot. Very good facilities and very quiet at night. Location is excellent, being very close to Clyde and Alexandra where there are good restaurants. For the sporty types, it is close to the hiking/cycling trails and a visit to nearby Cromwell is worthwhile, especially the Goldfields Mining Centre where you can learn all about the 1860s gold rush. Finally, there is winery that you can visit within a kilometer!
The weather but the owners are not responsible for this! Everything else was perfect.

Cottage had everything almost brand new. Great deck to sit and watch the sun go down with a wine. Highly recommend.

Our only mistake was we should have booked 3 nights instead of 2!!. Will return again.

Reviewed Jan 12, 2024This cottage is in a great location to ride the trails in the area. The Otago Rail Trail and access to Clyde are 100m down the road. It is in a lovely rural setting, close to town. Andrew and Karen are lovely hosts, offering advice and assistance where they can. The cottage itself is new, fresh, clean and comfortable. It is well designed and furnished. The breakfast items provided were a bonus - freshly baked bread, butter, jam, honey, Vegemite, bliss balls, muesli, milk, yoghurt and berries picked from their garden, plus the usual teas, coffee, and hot chocolate. These items were in the room on arrival. Over our 3 night stay we could ask for more as needed.
There is a little lack of privacy being located in the front yard of Andrew and Karen’s place. But I think that will remedy as the tress grow. I would not say breakfast is provided but rather breakfast items were provided. It did feel a little awkward asking for more breakfast items during our stay, but then I also understand Andrew and Karen not wanting to disturb their guests by pestering them. So a bit of a fine line there. I would also suggest the hosts empty the bins part way during a longer stay, so the room doesn’t get smelly. This would also be a good opportunity to top up breakfast items if guests required/wanted it.

Reviewed Jan 4, 2024It was a treat to experience the generous hospitality of Springvale Cottage. Everything was clean and tidy, Karen was very welcoming, and the breakfast was yum - highlights being the homemade bread, strawberry jam and fresh raspberries. Would highly recommend.
