There was a mix up with the booking through booking.com in how many people they added to our booking so we had to pay more than expected when we arrived.

Its was a particularly cold winter weekend, & it took a little while for the chalets to warm up & the pallet fire to begin to heat the chalets. However, once the wood heated up, they maintained their heat well, & we were cosy over the weekend. There was plenty of heating, hot water & cooking by gas

Just what we needed for a nights recharging.. Hosts were lovely. Heating was on when we arrived and some sweets to welcome us. Top notch service. We will definitely be back again.

Stove top if you wish to cook. Thank you for the coffee and coffee plunger, great coffee! Also, really liked the slate tiles/mats for hot drinks! A bonus was also meeting you and your lovely dogs!

Owners are very accommodating and lovely people to talk to. There were a lot of little touches in the chalet that showed us they really care about their clients well-being. We used this as a base to explore local rail trails on our bikes.

The owners have worked hard to make this a fun place to visit with games for the family and a small pool and hot tub. They even encourage their guests to pick fruit from the many fruit trees around the property. This turned out to be one of the best places we stayed during our trip to NZ

The grounds were lovely and was great having parking right outside our unit. Each unit is separate and private. The shower was very powerful which was great. We thought there might have been a bit of noise from the main road but it didn't bother us at all. The host was amazing, so welcoming and friendly! We stayed 2 nights but this place would be great for a longer stay. Really appreciated the toffees and mints in our room, a lovely touch!

Reviewed Jan 29, 2026Clean, cute, comfortable, lovely setting. Lots of little touches that were appreciated, such as sunscreen in the bathroom, sweets on the coffee table etc. The towels were super fluffy and soft and the art work felt deliberate instead of selected as space-fillers.
The only mildly negative thing to say would be perhaps the road noise might bother some people, however we didn't find it intrusive.

I needed a chill rest day, and got that in beautiful settings, with the dogs as company…and they even laid on the Aurora for us at night!!!

Reviewed Jan 20, 2026Upon arrival we received a warm welcome from the host. The chalet was gorgeous and held the heat well during the night. The pool and gardens were lovely. In the morning the owners corgi came over to our chalet which our toddler was ecstatic about. Would highly recommend.
I can't really fault the property at all. Only thing maybe a chromecast for the tvs. We usually bring our own anyway. But it wouldn't be something I'd really get upset about

We had the 2 bedroom and it was just perfect for us. The hot tub was just at perfect temp also, nice and relaxing, The only thing that could have been better would be Spring time with all the fruit trees budding!!!!

Reviewed Jan 18, 2026Loved the full kitchen with oven and full sized fridge! A welcome change to all the mini fridges we have been using on our family holiday. Loved that there was a washing machine in the chalet, so that we could wash and reset our clothes after the Routeburn hike. Close to a washing line with lots of pegs provided. Very user friendly! The spa was a welcome surprise too. Very spacious chalet. Very clean. Beautiful setting in the landscaped gardens. Kids loved the freedom of being able to move around the property and play with the dogs. The pool was awesome too.
If I had to note something, it’s that there was no drainer to stack dishes after washing them. Very small and so easy to remedy. The house could also do with a few more hooks in the bathroom, for hanging up the many towels of a family.

We were only sorry we didn't get to stay longer (we had late arrival and early departure). Thank you for being flexible with our arrival time (flight delays) and we loved the fresh cherries - we felt very fortunate to visit whilst they were in season :-)
