Bông Hà Nội hostel

The loop

The cabin bus. Bus to Ha Giang: Old and falling apart. No working usb port or lights in the cabins. False advertising. Bus to Hanoi: 1) Rough driving meant many passengers couldnt get any sleep. 2) Driver refused a toilet break after being asked/pleaded with by multiple passengers. We were told 1 hour until a toilet break. 2 hours later I approach him and he shouts and pushes me back to my seat and says "yes we will stop". I'm currently on the bus, approaching hanoi and I have been holding a wee for over 5 hours. Ridiculous. 3) There were 12 or so blankets in an empty cabin besides me. It was cold so I took 2 extra. A staff member came and pulled the blankets off me, told me im only allowed one. I pointed out the extra blankets and he ignored me. Just threw my blankets back on top of the other 10. What kind of service is this for the extra bus upgrade? Maybe take 2 minutes to teach drivers basic communication/etiquette needed for backpackers on these buses. Such a horrible end to a nice trip.

Nice atmosphere, clean.

Most disrespectful hostel experience. Staff is friendly but very unprofessional, and don't expect any good sleep since people check in daily at 3 am, and out at 8 am for the trip. Details below: They are very famous for the Ha Giang trip, that they don't care about any other aspect. You'd think the trip is their best aspect, and it is if you constantly like listening to asian techno music weather it's a lake, waterfall or an amazing natural view. maybe it's just me but i prefer quiet in nature. they forgot to add my paid booking to the system, which is ok, but what's not ok is to ask me to check out and not believing me after questioning me for 3 times. I also asked for a t-shirt that everyone gets after the trip, but again, a worker screws up and marks me as received. Upon confirming that i didn't get it, the worker just dismisses me without making eye contact. Again it's just a lousy t-shirt anyway, but asking me if i am lieing to get a freaking shirt is disrespectful as hell. Especially after i refused to take money for a deposit that yet again, they mistakenly marked as paid but i didn't.

Great value for money, super friendly staff, meet loads of new people

Curtains were see through, less privacy than usual

Staff were really lovely and very helpful

Bathrooms could have been a little cleaner

Amazing stay at Bông Hà Nội Hostel! If you’re heading to Hanoi and want a place that feels like home — this is it. The staff at Bông Hà Nội Hostel are absolutely incredible. Super friendly, full of good vibes, and always ready to help with whatever you need. The location is perfect , right in the heart of the Old Quarter, As for cleanliness? Spot on! The bathrooms and rooms were always super clean, which I really appreciated. They also offer tours and are super helpful when it comes to planning your next move in Vietnam. Honestly, I loved my stay so much — I’d 100% come back here. Don’t think twice, just book it!

Nice hostel but there will always be people coming back from the Ha Giang loop at 2am every night and the curtains on the bed are quite transparent.

All the staff were very helpful and friendly.

very clean, nice beds, nice bathroom i stayed here for a while and thoroughly enjoyed it

this didn’t bother me because i wore earplugs - but just be mindful that there are people coming back from the loop every night at around 3am

Loved the loop with Bong hostel, accom in Hanoi was central and nice dorms

Rude staff and a check in process that took forever, not what you want after a long journey. A bad first impression of Bong which was redeemed by the lovely staff in Ha Giang and a great loop experience

Cleanest hostel I've ever stayed at. You're definitely getting what you paid for, great staff, clean and large beds, and it seems to attract more respectful travellers, so you don't have to deal with noisy, annoying guests in your room.

I can't complain about anything really, it was only good experiences for me.

Very convenient location, friendly staff and clean facilities

No blanket on the bed, very noisy street, rather come to breakfast early - they didn´t refill it

Great location, nice breakfast and coffee. Very convenient to walk to after getting off the sleeper bus after the Ha Giang Loop.

The bunk curtains were good for privacy but not so good at blocking out the light from the room. Also, there was not a plug socket in the upper bunk so I could not charge my phone overnight without leaving it away from my bed

clean, reasonable price, hot & strong shower

nothing

1.Staffs at the reception are very very helpful.

1.The location is very strategic, but since it is at the corner of an intersection, the busyness may interrupt those who needs a good rest. Even wearing earplug, it may come off during the night.. the noise from the street may wake u up. 2.There were few occasions where the male staffs hangout in the dorm occupying the beds layed down chatting on their phones. I have no problem with that, but they seem to be on the phone for an hour or more, and didn't realize on respective occasions how loud they were with their voice and their laughs. One of the day, my nap was interrupt, when I was awoken by the male staff's volume. 3.March weather was below 18 Celsius but the dorm was so stuffy. In the middle of the night when I woke up, I realized I was sweating to the "heat" in the dorm. The air-conditioning was set at the temperature of 24 Celsius, but the feeble wind blow felt more like 28 Celsius.

The rooms were very clean and very comfortable. The location is perfect, in the middle of Old Town. The staff were very kind, they helped me book the tour and buses. Thanks to them for making my stay enjoyable

- The property is so clean - I had the best night sleep

Comfy bed, great rooms

Had blood stain on my bed and bathrooms were very smelly

Clean and great location

Not a lot of hostel community feel

Great central location in Hanoi nearby everything of interest. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. The best part of the hostel is its exceptional tours that can take you anywhere in the northern regions of the country. We did the Ha Giang Loop 4 Day trip and loved it. Very organized and they handle everything for you. Very flexible in terms of switching up plans as well.

Bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner/available.

Central , good facilities, very clean

Crowded when your having your breakfast and there is a tour waiting to leave

The location and staff

The bedsheet smells bad and the toilet is not looking clean all the time.

Big comfortable beds, spacious rooms, very nice staff, great location

Small bathroom, unpleasant smell in the bathroom, basic breakfast. Downstairs always full of people going to the tours. It’s great place to stay for the night if you’re doing a tour with them, but not if you wanna explore Hanoi for few days

Dorm beds were super comfortable! Loads of storage space for valuables too. Breakfast was delicious. We booked the Ha Giang Loop through the hostel too which was one of the greatest experiences of my life!

More showers would be useful!

The lady’s on reception were so lovely especially 1 lady hana maybe not sure the name sorry. The beds were amazing so comfy the best bed I’ve slept in in a long time. It’s so cheap and close walking to everything, the dorms were clean and the bathrooms clean too. We booked the Ha Giang loop through these and couldn’t recommend enough!! If I come back I’d definitely stay here

Nothing it was genuinely amazing

Central and close to every thing. Staff was very helpful and kind!

The bedrooms are nice and clean!

It was a bit dirty in my opinion. The bathroom was not nice at all And also the top bunks have very narrow stairs, which make it difficult to go up

Amazing staff! Good beds. I booked the Ha Giang Loop tour with Bong, it was amazing!!! If u ever get the chance to do the loop I highly recommend going with Bong!!

Everything, probably the best hostel of my trip.

Nothing

The staff was amazing, very welcoming. Hana in particular, always there to help! Thank you for this amazing experience!

It was overall clean and the location was nice.

The staff: When I arrived the person attending me didn’t spoke English and I didn’t got intro into basic stuff like when the downstairs door closes and absolutely zero information about the neighbourhood or anything else. The next day they tried hard to sell me their tours but I was already quite disappointed so I passed. Finally, no one smiled or welcomed and many of the staff seemed quite unhappy. I stayed 3 more days in Hanoi but moved to another hostel which was so much nicer and on top of that cheaper. Wouldn’t return or recommend.

Great location and very comfortable bed. The staff waited for me for a late check in after my flight was delayed for several hours!

It feels like sleeping in a travel agency, it lacks a bit the social and friendly environment of a hostel

The girls in reception were so lovely and welcoming. The dorms were clean and big and bathrooms were fine. Loved that we had individual lockers for our bags in the room too. Breakfast was great and the location was even better. We booked our ha giang loop through the hostel and we had the best time would always recommend bong.

walls and floors were slightly thin, could hear people walking around in the night from the floor above and walking up and down stairs. Only 1 shower per floor, but wouldn’t stop me from staying again.

The staff is amazing, location is good, overall ok hostel.

very hard to get a good night's sleep, near a main road so constant noise from traffic, the bed curtains are see through so every time someone turns on their bed light the entire room is lit, pluse not so private

had a fantastic stay at Bong Hanoi Hotel! The location is perfect, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious. The tours organized by the hotel were amazing, and I want to thank Willy, the tour guide, for his knowledge and friendliness—it made the experience unforgettable. A special thanks also to Hana at the reception for her warm smile and excellent service. Highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again!

Really good location. Staff are really nice and helpful. It’s so easy to book tours or buses etc with them. Really good breakfast

Ha Giang loop tour was amazing. And also Hostel was comfortable and quiet. Staff were super friendly🥰

The rooms, toilets and lobby was extremely well maintained. Toiletries were provided and even breakfast was included everyday. The staff at Bong Hanoi were exceptional. The tours are well arranged and communication was easy as the staff could speak in english. This place is perfect for first time solo travellers like myself.

Bong Hanoi Hostel offers an exceptional experience for travelers, particularly for those looking to explore the Ha Giang Loop. The staff is incredibly helpful, providing personalized assistance with tours that enhance the adventure. Their local knowledge and recommendations made our journey unforgettable. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, making it easy to meet fellow travelers. Clean accommodations and a vibrant common area add to the appeal. If you’re seeking an ultimate base for your Ha Giang adventure, look no further than Bong Hanoi Hostel. I can’t recommend them enough for anyone visiting Hanoi!

Everyone is so friendly and helpful

The staff is amazing

It gets noisy sometimes cause the street

Great location and super easy to book the Ha Giang loop tour once I arrived. Breakfast each morning was simple and tasty and the rooms and bathrooms were super clean and well managed.

Great location, nice modern facilities, free lockers & towel, friendly staff, good tour options, easy to book buses pickup from hostel. Definitely more of a base for tours don’t see many people throughout the day & people only seemed to stay 1-2 nights. And definitely recommend doing the Ha Giang Loop with Bong, nice size groups, not too crazy, safe ◡̈

Not sure why the staff think it’s ok to sleep in dorm beds throughout the day and not remake the sheets? Saw one guy use three beds (use the pillow & sheets then make them up so they look like new) in my room in one day and I wasn’t even in all day?

So nice people working in the hostel - both in hanoi and in ha giang! Lots of love

The staff were super helpful and friendly, all facilities functioned well.

I stayed here 3 times during my trip in Vietnam. The staff is so kind and helpful, they helped me book tours, transportation and gave me tips on where to go/eat! I would recommend this place to any backpacker who wants a comfortable bed in a nice environment.

It was well located, and the staff was really nice and helpful.

My roommates were noisy, so is the road but I am a light sleeper.

Location & staff

Common spaces not always organized

The location is great, the staff is AMAZING!! The loveliest people working there, they are the reason I keep coming back to this hostel when I'm in Hanoi <3 Great hospitality!!! Breakfast included (eggs with baguette, fruits, coffee/tea) Beds are spacious and comfortable. Spacious lockers to fit in a big backpack.

AC is working almost too well, can get a little chilly at night. Water is not draining properly in some of the showers.

This is one of the nicest hostel we stayed in! Loved the lockers and curtains for the beds! Breakfast was lovely too!

Good location, right in the old town. Hostel has good Internet access and clean, tidy dorms with comfortable beds and good AC. Decent breakfast every morning.

It's a small hostel with just 2 dorm rooms and a common area, it's very transient, people stay just one or two nights for the tours and it felt it lacked any atmosphere. Hostel was new and modern but a bit dirty- they need to clean the bathrooms more thoroughly. Only stay 1-2 nights.

The location is so close to everything, it is walking distance to the lake, few landmarks and popular eateries plus it's amongst the hustle and bustle and that is what I like. A neighbourhood that is lively and easy to locate. The hosts are so friendly, daily breakfast is so simple with its fresh baguettes, viet coffee fresh fruit - it starts your day off right. The bed clean and cozy, and the pillows are comfy. I cannot wait to return and stay a bit longer - thank you!

The lighting in the dorm was very dark as they do not have the curtains drawn to have the natural light in. The majority of the time during the day, no one is in the dorm, they are out during the day.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Great location. And the Ha Giang loop tour with them is absolutely amazing.
