Reviewed May 26, 2026The place is very beautiful with a stunning view of Mount Kinabalu right in front of you, and there is a river below it’s truly gorgeous. The house is clean, fully equipped, and nothing is lacking.
So far, there are no issues. As for the water problem, that’s quite normal in Kundasang it’s usually like that there. The roads are also pretty normal. We Sabahans are already used to it anyway.

There's only one toilet, the steps to second floor is steep and the location is deep in. there's is a steep slope which our driver had to navigate very slowly. The water heater went berserk one night with very hot water even though we turned it off.

Water is gravity water from the mountain so drinking water must be from bottled water provided. The sounds of running water is heard throughout the night. Everything is thoughtfully supplied from cooking to BBQ facilities, WIFI was strong, responsive host
The water heater was difficult to control and would go off and on. This affects the lighting in the bathroom and main bedroom as well which was quite annoying. We had a power failure once during our stay but there was emergency light working. Be aware that the road is gravel road and construction ongoing nearby. Perhaps when all these are done, it would be a great place to stay

Reviewed Jun 23, 2025We loved the house, it has a steam by the house and view of the Mt Kinabalu right frm the house itself. The bbq and karaoke facilities were a plus.
The little insects that keep on coming inside the house but that's not due to the house, but to the surrounding forestry environment instead.

Reviewed Feb 16, 2025I would like to express our gratitude for the memorable experience we had with D’maro hut Mesilou Very nice and clean accommodation with complete kitchen utilities and the sound system for karaoke was very satisfying and the view there was Incredibly Niceeeeee ! One of the best Homestay we ever stay in Mesilau so far. Thank you very much for such great experience with your accommodation. We definitely will come again next time. Stay with family 🫶🏻

The check-in process was slightly disrupted as the cleaning staff were still tidying up the premises. Additionally, the roads near the accommodation were quite bumpy, and the parking space proved challenging for larger vehicles. Furthermore, the property directly faces the balcony of another homestay, resulting in frequent visibility from guests across the way. This lack of privacy may discomfort travelers who wish to enjoy outdoor activities while valuing seclusion.

Reviewed Dec 3, 2024House was spacious with a rustic modern design and beds are comfy. Complete kitchen utensils provided. The view of mount Kinabalu is visible from my bed! Check in was a breeze 😊 bonus -they have a karaoke set for those who enjoy singing.
The house and toilet is very clean except the glass windows have a lot of spiderwebs which to me is a setback given that they have big windows for us to enjoy the mountain view from the upstairs living room.

Reviewed Nov 14, 2024Nice location, great view of Mount Kinabalu and sound of flowing water in the river next to the property. It was a peaceful and lovely place to retreat to and rest. Wifi connection was not good but that was fine. More places being built in the area so I am not sure how it will be like in the next few months.

Reviewed Oct 29, 2024Nice place to stay, near river. Plus you will be serve with Mountain Kinabalu as your background scenery. Complete with 3 rooms for adults, wifi, bbq set and the kitchen was nice too.
As general, all okay. Very convenient. Just to reconsider if you bring more than 2 car than it might be not enough car parking for you. Hope the owner already fix the water issue as when we arrived, the water supply suddenly cut down the next day of stayed. Unfortunately, the weather that time verry windy dan rainy. Thus the water source cut down and no supply into the water tank. If the owner make it 2 water tank instead of 1, there will be no issues I guess.

Reviewed Jun 29, 2024The house is very clean, cozy and comfortable. They provide everything from bbq place to a movie projector. I like how easy it is to check into the place. The owner just sent all the precise instructions through WhatsApp. And the best part is the location of the house right next to the river stream with the magnificent Mount Kinabalu as the background. Can get enough of it 💙💙💙
The access road to the house is quite challenging. Almost 90% of of it is gravel road. Not advisable if you dont drive a SUV or 4 wheeler.
