The Bay Horse Hotel

The location is excellent for the racecourse, and the bar and food are good.

I left my dentures in the room, emailed no response, so then called and asked if they could post to me if I arranged collection. Emma said she was too busy but took my number and promised to call back. Still waiting.... really disappointed I have stayed here on multiple occasions and up until this couldn't fault the staff, but this has definitely soured my experience, and really put me off staying again. Real shame.

The location was great for what we needed. The staff are good. The rooms are lovely. Breakfast is lovely with really good service

It’s clean, fresh, comfortable, everything you need and great value with a breakfast included We asked on arrival if we could have a key card in advance of our room being ready as we were going out all day and not back until midnight and we really appreciated that we were given the key which allowed us to get back in the main door/ our room after midnight. Otherwise we would have had to return after 2pm to get the key then which would have been inconvenient to us so thank you to the staff at Bay Horse for being so kind and flexible

no room service because they "were busy"! bar staff service was really poor, slow, and had no idea about who to serve next except the customer directly Infront of them, even if they just arrived at the bar. Customers were forced to wait while others jumped in. whisky served in soft plastic beakers was unacceptable. some customers were given glasses, some plastic ones and not enough staff to take care of glass collection/washing.

I was having a very pleasant time until I tried to switch on wifi and was asked for personal details. I don't expect to have to give personal details to get wifi. I don't agree with you selling guest's information to Access Control. I had to go to the reception three times in my pyjamas to request the wifi access code that all other hotels provide. Unfortunately, I will not stay at this otherwise great hotel, or any others in your chain, because of this experience. People have had enough of the drive towards One Digital ID. It's surreptitious, dishonest.

Great staff. Comfortable bedroom and great TV. Bed Linen and towels fresh and clean. Freshly cooked breakfast.- we had a good table and could have eaten outside.

Limited quantity of tea/coffee, etc.. .only one mug for 2 people - easily put right, but it's in the detail. I know it was 30* weather, but there was a strange room fragrance in reception.

Great check in staff, advanced requests had been sorted, despite temperatures into the early 30s the room had been kept at a reasonable temperature, plus a decent fan was provided. The KS a Ed was ridiculously comfortable, so much so that I missed breakfast (which appeared to be great value). The room rate was also very competitive, and for anyone travelling up or down the M6, it’s about a minute or two from the junction. 10/10

Although the hotel is a bit dated, the location and the breakfast were great! It was within walking distance from our work location (racecourse) for the day and surprisingly, the bar activities in the evening didn't affect our sleep! The hotel was very affordable, too! Yes, we will return next year!

The toast wasn't really toasted ! The scrambled egg was a bit mushy , but not that much of a big deal . The lady who looked after us at breakfast was LOVELY !!!!

The room was spot on - there was an unpleasant smell at the bottom of the stairs - maybe dirty laundry . All in all it seemed a lovely place .

It was in a convenient location for our needs and the rooms were clean and bright and a good size.

The only things it could improve on from my perspective is that one of the pillow cases although clean was very stained, The small iron provided was not a steam iron so pretty much useless.

Exellant hotel clean friendly staff perfect place for haydock horse racing or even chester horse racing as we found out with haydock being abandoned drink and food well priced and served all our needs no matter what you want

I was up early and full english breakfast was a little undercooked for me, they could have done better. Coffee was better than in the rooms and a reasonable selection of pastries, cereal, juices etc.

If races were on it would be perfect location Evening meal was brilliant Room was spacious and clean Staff were really good and friendly

Breakfast was really poor some of fry up was inedible in my opinion Our room was next to the main security door to all ground floor rooms and every 5 minutes all night long the door was getting banged shut I didn’t realise how loud Scottish Oaps can be (party animals and having massive conversations at 5am out side our room)

Convenient location for our needs. Close to town but not noisy. Plenty of parking. Ate evening meal there too and food was lovely.

Only one shower towel for 2 people but hey ho we could have asked for another but managed.

The bedroom only had 1 of everything, towel, mug etc. There was no plug in the bath. For the amount we paid we would have expected something not so tired looking decor-wise.

Location for racing is ideal car park is great and all staff are very friendly
