Blue Dot - jungle river adventure hostel closest to Ciudad Perdida

We have had a very nice stay, both relaxing and adventurous. The meals were all very tasty and the staff very warm and friendly. Would recommend it to anyone who is looking for something different and unique!

Wir hatten eine sehr tolle Zeit im Blue Dot Hostel. Es liegt mitten in der Natur, umgeben von einem Fluss in dem man Baden und Tuben (in Autoreifen) kann und wir konnten dort herrlich entspannen und abschalten. Trotz der Abgeschiedenheit kann man das Hostel sehr gut mit dem Motortaxi oder auch zu Fuß bei einer ausblickreichen Wanderung erreichen. Daan ist ein toller Host und hat super lecker gekocht. Sehr weiterzuempfehlen!

De rit er naartoe per motor is een avontuur en het uitzicht is fantastisch. De locatie is echt geweldig!! Wakker worden in het midden van de natuur met junglegeluiden om je heen... ik kan me niets beters wensen. Daan was echt een geweldige host. We hebben onwijs goede gesprekken gehad. Hij is behulpzaam, vrolijk, openminded en avontuurlijk. De homecookedmeals waren heeeerlijk en aan het einde van de rit schrok ik van hoe weinig ik betaalde voor de hele ervaring. Dikke aanrader, snel boeken!

Pure paradise. The location in the middle of a beautiful jungle, the staff and volunteers, the dogs and horses. Everything was just perfect. If you want to know what a perfect world is like, go visit for a few days. You’ve never experienced something like that.

It's an unbelievable experience to spend a few nights in this jungle house. It offers everything you need, Daan and his volunteers cook amazing vegan food. Also, there is a never-ending supply of fresh bananas. You can go for a river swim at every moment of the day, learn about local vegetation, and off grid lifestyle. For those who work online, great internet connection

We went on a little jungle trekking to the waterfalls, and it was approximately 3.5 hours. At the end of the stay, i was surprised to find out that this experience was 80k per person. Also, the place could use a bit more cleaning in the common areas. Apart from that, everything was truly amazing 👏

Ein Paradies in der Sierra Nevada, das coolste und authentischste was wir bisher auf unserer Reise gefunden haben🌿✨ Das Blue Dot Eco Hostel ist ein wunderschöner Ort, eingebettet mitten im üppig grünen Dschungel der Sierra Nevada. Schon bei der Ankunft spürt man, dass hier die Zeit ein anderes Tempo hat. Direkt am Fluss gelegen, der herrlich zum Schwimmen einlädt und dessen Rauschen einen sanft durch den Tag begleitet, kann man sich hier vollkommen erholen. Wer zur Ruhe kommen möchte, findet hier genau das Richtige: Umgeben von tropischen Pflanzen, bunten Vögeln und dem ständigen Summen und Rascheln des Dschungels, fällt es leicht, einfach loszulassen und den Rhythmus der Umgebung aufzusaugen. Gleichzeitig kommt das Abenteuer nicht zu kurz – Tubing, Flusswandern und selbst die Anfahrt mit dem Motorradtaxi ist ein Erlebnis für sich! Hier wird Nachhaltigkeit ernsthaft gelebt. Vom liebevoll zubereiteten leckeren Essen über die umweltfreundlichen Baumaterialien bis hin zur Energieversorgung wird hier mit viel Bewusstsein und Herz auf Nachhaltigkeit geachtet. Man spürt, dass jedes Detail durchdacht ist. Abends versammeln sich alle in gemütlicher Runde – man spielt, lacht, taucht ein in inspirierende Gespräche und genießt die besondere Atmosphäre des Ortes. Ein riesiges Dankeschön an Daan, den wunderbaren Gastgeber, der uns mit seiner offenen, herzlichen Art jeden Wunsch erfüllt hat. Seine Leidenschaft und Liebe für diesen Ort sind ansteckend und machen das Blue Dot zu einem echten Herzensprojekt.

This hostel is amazing. I went there after reading the reviews, and they don't lie. It's a magical place in the middle of the jungle, super relaxing, with a river and waterfalls nearby. You wake up in the morning to the sounds of the rainforest animals. It's the best place to relax. There are also lots of activities to do. Daan, the host, makes you feel at home, he's super smart, we had some great conversations. He wants to share his values in this place with his guests. The food is excellent. It's just perfect. And the motorcycle ride to get there is worth it in itself.

We spent 5 nights at the Blue Dot Eco Hostel, and it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip through Colombia. Daan, the owner, is super friendly and took a lot of time for us. The hostel is still under construction, but that makes it all the more exciting – you can see creative, sustainable ideas popping up everywhere, and it feels like being part of something that's just beginning to grow. Waking up to the view of the jungle trees was pure magic. The food is vegan, homemade, and really affordable. Don’t miss the fermented pineapple lemonade – it’s absolutely delicious! The river is a dream – crystal clear, beautiful, with spots to jump in, swim, and even some boulders to climb on. Daan also took us on a mini adventure tour where we abseiled from a bridge and floated down the river – unforgettable! The website says it’s a no-smoking place, but as long as you don’t smoke inside and clean up after yourself, everything is chill. The way up to the hostel is already part of the fun: first a mototaxi ride from the Lost City entrance, then a ride over the river in a cable cart – and right on the other side, Daan’s three dogs greet you with wagging tails. Yes, the mosquitos can be a bit vicious, but hey – that’s the jungle! We never got bored and would’ve loved to stay longer. Thanks, Daan & crew - we had a blast

A very special place in the middle of the beautiful and wild jungle

I was there in the main mosquito season. Come prepared ;)

After a chill moto ride in the jungle with nice sights, I got welcomed by a wonderful meal and as a big eater I was totally fulfilled everytime ! Dann, the volunteers, the doggies and other guests were all super chill and we enjoyed communal meals and some activities together.. projector movie on hammocks in the middle of the jungle beats cinema! I also had a lot of fun exploring the river... great to workout in including some cool climbing spots where you jump in the water when you fall 👌 Definitely a great spot to take a pause and reconnect to the energy of nature and simple pleasures. The starlink internet is on point though hehe. Thank you and may the next guest enjoy ! Ps... don't forget to go barefoot!

Can't think of anything honestly , slept like a baby with full stomach and fresh air, everyone around was chill! I actually think I underpaid for all the great food I got lol but I helped haul a good chunk of wood in the river so I won't feel too bad about it 😸

We had such a great time staying at Daan's eco hostel. He's worked hard with his team to build something beautiful. Getting there is an adventure which adds to the experience. You really feel like you have traveled somewhere unique

the location is incredible, swimming in the river brings absolute bliss. the food was very delicious homemade vegan! such a luxury to sleep in this spot with jungle life flying around you. definitely a spot for adventurers as the road getting there is a journey on itself.

Blue dot is not just a hostel. Its a magical place, where you instantly feel at home, surrounded by forest everywhere you look. There is an incredible river 5 min from the hostel to refresh and connect with nature. Delicious vegan food made with love, dogs to cuddle and super comfy beds. Its an adventure to get there, but totally worth it!

Staying longer.

The location is amazing. The river flows around the point where the hostal is located. We could hear the river day and night. So relaxing! The birds and other jungle fauna and flora are wonderful. We slept so well. The river itself was beautiful to explore with boulders and rapids and nice swimming spots. The sand sparkles with golden flakes. The staff and volunteers are so friendly and attentive. We met awesome people there and practiced our Spanish. The eco hostal is true to its mission, very deliberately and creatively conceived by its founder Daan. Very respectful of nature and waste management. WiFi was great. Power and clean water is plentiful. I look forward to my next visit.

Like anywhere in the jungle and forest, the biting insects will want to feast on fresh blood. So wear long pants and a light long sleeve shirt, particularly at dawn and dusk. Bring natural insect repellent because DEET based insecticide is very bad for water eco-systems.

This place is absolute paradise. Truly incredible. You will live in a beautiful open house surrounded by plants, eat the freshest and most delicious food we've had while traveling in Colombia so far, you will see Toucans all around, and swim in the clear river just down a path. Daan is an incredibly kind, funny and knowledgeable host, and the hikes and adventures he offers are so worth-it. We will definitely return!!!

Wow! What a cool and unique experience. Blue Dot sits on an incredible plot of land right next to the most beautiful clear river. The beds were super comfy, the vegan food very yummy, and Dan the host is absolutely lovely! This is perfect for those looking to slow down and reconnect with nature. Such a welcomed change from the touristy spots that dot the shoreline. Swimming in the river each morning was just the best. Thanks Dan!

My stay at Blue Dot was incredible. Even though the place is still under construction, my stay was very comfortable. The surroundings are spectacular and a perfect place to relax and unwind on the beautiful river or in one of the comfy hammocks with jungle views. I went on a nice adventure tour to one of the many waterfalls around, and can only give the highest marks for the whole experience. Besides that Daan cooked some very flavourful Vegas distes, and added smoothies of fruit that was freshly picked next to the hostel.
