Reviewed Jan 21, 2026Breakfast was not on offer. It was a selfcatering unit. The balcony became our dining room, enhanced by a beautiful view of the Karoo veld, and everpresent variety of birds. The unit was so thoughtfully equipped without being cluttered. We had absolutely everything we needed.

Reviewed Jan 19, 2026We didn't have breakfast. Stayed in a glam tent, all stunning except the noise from dogs barking across the valley half the night was irritating. We loved the owls roosting above us in a big tree, calling and making funny sounds, barn owls we think. Stunning spot all in all, very friendly host, kitchen facilities exceptional. We did enjoy the different sleeping arrangement - very snug and having the car right outside to unpack a plus. Braai facilities too another plus.
The noisy barking dogs but not the resort’s fault.

Vehicles past on the N12 woke me up. And maybe , they should attend to the mould on the ceiling in the bathroom and the mosquitonets in front of the windows needs attention. But all in all, it was a pleasant stay.

I almost don’t want to tell people that they have a pet friendly room because it’s such a lovely space for the price. An enclosed area for the dog to safely go to the toilet, a nice open room and kitchen with the essentials.

Only minor issue was the bedroom wooden floor creaked when walking on it which if there is two of you and one gets up in the middle of the night it is noisy.

Ostrich prime steak was a first for us and delicious! Beautiful views and peaceful. Karla was most helpful with info we needed. Meiringspoort is breathtaking as is the waterfall. De Rust itself is a gorgeous little town. De Rustic Olive Farm...wow!

Reviewed May 24, 2024We had a wonderful time at De Rusty farm -- it was incredible value for money. Karla and her husband were very hospitable, and when we found a small garden snake in our room they were really helpful in immediately coming to remove it (with plenty of regard for us and for the snake). It's also an excellent stopping point on the way to Eastern Cape.
