Lal Home Stay

Спасибо за вкусные завтрака, мы были 1 день: на завтрак давали омлет, фрукты, джем, чай, кокосовые лепешки. Было очень сытно.

Мы были в середине сентября 2026г на улице было +35 градусов и сильная влажность. За кондиционер попросили доплату 5$, но кондиционером особо не удалось воспользоваться, так как он дул на кровать, спали в итоге с потолочным вентилятором. Рядом гора Сигирия, лучше подниматься рано утром, мы приехали в 6 утра, поднялись с ребенком 8 лет за 30 минут. Вид хороший, посмотреть стоит.

El trato personal de Lal y su mujer fue excepcional. Los desayunos son muy ricos y abundantes. Además, te ofrecen comer y cenar allí mismo, cocinado por ellos. Todos estaba buenísimo. También pueden hacerte la colada. Las habitaciones son amplias, están limpias y la cama es bastante cómoda. Por otro lado, también te ayudan a gestionar tus actividades, contratando conductor de tuktuk por ti a un precio razonable, muy muy similar al que ofrece PickMe. El alojamiento está en una calle llena de cafeterías y restaurantes, por lo que tienes cerca muchas opciones diferentes.

A tener en cuenta, te cobran un suplemento de 3€/noche para poder usar el aire acondicionado (hay ventilador de techo, pero apenas tira suficiente aire).

La habitación es amplia muy muy limpia. El desayuno es cuantioso en variedad e incluso si lo pides take away sigue siendo ultra variado. La hospitalidad de Lal y su familia es de 10. En todo momento nos ayudó con todo e incluso nos esperó hasta que nos fuimos en el autobús. Además perdí una cadena de plata y tras habernos ido del alojamiento apareció en un spa al que fui. Él se encargó de recogerla y llevarla a otro hotel donde estaba una amigo. Ese favor no tiene precio!!

Owners really welcoming. It has been a pleasure to chat with them. The room was clean and as showed on the website (including A/C). The property in general was clean, peaceful and beautiful (this morning after an early trekking the grass was full of butterflies). Breakfast was one of the best we have had in Sri Lanka (fruits and hoppa were delicious).

Attenzione! La e sua moglie sono pericolosissimi! Ti viziano e ti coccolano fino a farti sentire parte della famiglia. Anche il cane Mac è supe amichevole. Insomma...se tornassi lì andrei sicuramente a trovare.

Perfect location for visiting Lions rock, Dambulla etc. Lal happily arranged for Tuk Tuk‘s to take us around, as well as a last minute safari to Minneriya national Park. Lovely friendly and helpful family.

Por encima de todo destacaría la comida. Cenamos dos de las tres noches q estuvimos alojados y nos prepararon unos platos riquísimos. Lal y su esposa son muy amables.

Por poner un pero, solo nos dieron toalla de ducha, no de manos. Como es habitual en Sri Lanka, no hay plato de ducha en el baño, por lo q él suelo queda mojado y resbaladizo.

Lal & his wife took exceptionally good care of us with excellent home cooking (we were always stuffed!), local recommendations, organising an elephant safari (highly recommend!) and transport queries. Very well located in Sigiriya too close to Lion Rock.

Room only has one plug socket which can make charging phones etc. tricky when you're out all day.

Mr and Mrs Lal took great care of us. They arranged safari and tuktuk, and also taxi to Trimcomelee. Room was spacious and clean - just needed an extra powerpoint next to second bed. Breakfast large and tasty with omelet, fruit, toast plus more. Thanks for a great stay

We absolutely loved our stay at Lal’s and wish we had been able to stay longer. What really makes this place great are the hosts - Lal and his wife were very friendly, accommodating and knowledgable about the area. The room itself is very comfortable and set in a beautiful garden with very comfy outdoor seating. We were served a brilliant tea on arrival and a great breakfast of fruit, omelettes and pancakes in the morning. We would love to come back here!

Die Gastgeber, Lal und seine Frau waren sehr freundlich und immer zur Stelle. Auch wenn uns Lal‘s strenger Blick bis zum Schluss etwas verunsicherte. Frühstück war lecker und reichlich. Beim essen konnten wir Streifenhörnchen, Echsen, Affen und Vögel beobachten. Lage war okay - an der Zufahrtsstrasse vor dem sehr kleinen Ort. Es hat einzelne Restaurants in der Nähe. Wir hatten ein Zimmer hinten gewpnscht, was gut war. Selbst da hörte man die Strasse noch.

Die Sauberkeit war auf den ersten Blick gut, auf den zweiten Blick hätten einige Käfer und Spinnen entfernt werden können. Der Wäscheservice wäre doppelt so teuer gewesen wie sonst überall. Leider waren wir die einzigen Gäste und es gab für uns wohl deshalb das von vielen beschriebene leckere Bananenblüten-Abendessen nicht.

We spent one night at this friendly homestay and can absolutely recommend it: The owners are super friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and the location is within walking distance to various sites and restaurants. We would like to especially point out the Sri Lankan breakfast, which was delicious. You cannot go wrong if you book here.

Be reminded: The owners will charge you a small amount for using the AC.

Lal, our host, was very helpful discussing our plans and offering ways to improve on them. We enjoyed home cooked dinner (in addition to the nice breakfast) twice and found it very comforting after long days of exploring the area. It was the best way to start out visit.

La struttura ha dei servizi essenziali ma potrebbe esserci più attenzione ai piccoli dettagli ad esempio mettere un phon.

Lal was very kind and took me to many places. At first, I was a little suspicious because he was so kind, but later apologized. I also enjoyed interacting with other backpackers, and even though I don't speak English well, I still enjoyed myself. Using the mosquito net at night was very comfortable.

There are a lot of mosquitoes so you'll need mosquito repellent spray.

We had an incredible stay with Lal and family. Tea on patio on arrival was a great start. Well equipped room. Lal had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the local area and was willing to help organise all aspects of our trip. Breakfasts and dinner were a great way to try Sri Lankan cuisine (fried banana leaves were a delight) and meet other travellers. Would stay again.

Lal e la sua famiglia sono stati accoglienti e gentilissimi. La camera era pulita ed ampia (noi avevamo quelle sul retro, quindi anche silenziosa). Abbiamo cenato lì ed è stato tutto buonissimo, inclusa la colazione. Struttura consigliata.

La famiglia è stata super accogliente e disponibile ad offrire soluzioni per visitare i vari luoghi. Suggerisco caldamente di cenare in struttura per provare la cucina (più di 7-8 piatti diversi ogni cena!) e fare due chiacchiere con la famiglia e gli altri ospiti. Colazione ricca ed abbondante. Le camere sono pulite e spaziose, bagno ok.

I stayed as a solo female traveller as my first stop in Sri Lanka and this homestay was everything I needed! They cooked me breakfast and dinner and the owner planned all my days with local sights including taking me on his bike at sunset to see elephants in places he knew of. They couldn’t have done enough for me and I’m so grateful!

Very kind hosts! The gentleman organized everything for us and had great connections. Breakfast and dinner were lovingly prepared by his wife – highly recommended. Everything was clean and very beautiful.

Le petit déjeuner et les dîners sont excellents, M.Lal connaît parfaitement la région et vous aide à organiser toutes vos excursions : Safari, Lion Rock, visite de l’ancienne cité de Polonnaruva, jardin d’épices et de plantes médicinales ou encore les fameux Ayurvedic Massage. Les chambres sont spacieuses et propres. Une adresse parfaite pour découvrir Sigirya et ses environs.

It was the second time staying here and would definitely come back again. Lal and his wife were super nice hosts, they always cooked the best meals for us - rice&curry in the evening, and breakfast so filling that we didn’t need to eat for almost a whole day after again :) The rooms were nice, the bathrooms were okay. The location is great as well, only 15 minutes walk from the main entrance of Lion Rock. Highly recommended!

È stata la prima struttura del nostro viaggio in Sri Lanka e a fine viaggio possiamo dire che è stata la migliore in cui abbiamo soggiornato.Cene e colazioni (le migliori che abbiamo provato)davvero spettacolari e sempre diverse,la moglie di Lal ci ha davvero deliziato con le sue variegate e super abbondanti ricette.Lal è stato un ottimo host con i suoi consigli e le escursioni che ci ha organizzato TOP,ci siamo sentiti in famiglia.Super consigliato (tra l'altro questa struttura viene citata anche dalla Lonely Planet) davvero top .Lal se posso darti un consiglio è quello di organizzare dei corsi di cucina perché tua moglie è davvero un ottima cuoca 🤗🤗❤️

Lal’s home and family was the perfect way to start our Sri Lanka trip. Lal goes out of his way to help and organise any extra trips you would like. Whilsy there he organised sunrise walk and afternoon Safari trip. After asking how the best way to Kandy was Lal offered to drive him himself, stopping at temples and the spice garden on the way. Home cooked meal by his Wife was delicious and massive portions both breakfast and dinner. Great value for money

Soggiornare qui significa essere a casa di Lal, un host competente che sa dare i consigli giusti e, assieme alla moglie, preparare colazioni e cene con prodotti tipici dello Sri Lanka (tranne il caffè che era italiano ;-). Posizione ottima per visitare la Lion Rock e Pidurangula (andati per l'alba, non ve ne pentirete). Camere semplici ma prezzo contenuto, letto comodo, bagno piccolo e ovviamente, come spesso succede nello Sri Lanka in sistemazioni di questo tipo, quando vi lavate rischiate di allagare tutto perché non vi è nemmeno una tenda intorno alla doccia. In sostanza, noi siamo stati bene, la compagnia di Lal (e del suo Spitz giapponese) l'ottima cucina locale, la posizione comoda valgono il prezzo assolutamente.

In generale nello Sri Lanka sistemazioni simili a questa non presentano alcun copertura dell'angolo doccia, quindi il bagno si riempie d'acqua. Per quello che serviva a noi e che cercavamo per esplorare la zona di Sigiriya, la casa di Lal andava più che bene.

Homie feel, Lal took such good care of us. The breakfast was super good and lots of it :) Lal drove us early in the morning to catch the bus and also catch the sunrise to Lion Rock. Food was ready when we arrived late at night. Location is great for the nearby sights. Simple, homie, uncomplicated stay, highly recommended.

Nous sommes restés 2 nuits dans ce havre de paix. Il est possible d'aller au rocher du lion à pied pendant 15-20min environ ainsi que dans Sigiriya pour les restaurants... Lal et sa famille sont très généreux et extrêmement gentils. Leur Guest House est au calme et on s'y sent comme chez nous. Les repas du soir préparés par sa femme sont délicieux et très copieux tout comme le petit déjeuner. Ils vous conseilleront sur les activités à faire aux alentours. Encore merci pour ce très beau séjour !!

Lal’s was in a perfect location. A short walk to Sigiriya town centre and a 15 minute walk to Lion’s Rock. If you want to go to Pidurangula or anywhere else, Lal can arrange a TukTuk for you. The rooms was big and very comfortable. There is air con available if you need it. Lal and his family were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Lal took our laundry to the laundrette for us and organised the most amazing Elephant Safari. The we ate at Lal’s both nights and it is still the best food we have had in Sri Lanka so far. 10/10 - I would recommend to anyone to stay here. Thank you Lal and family for the best introduction to Sri Lanka!

Praktische Lage in der Nähe des Pidurangala Felsens und des Löwenfelsen. Leckeres, authentisches Essen. Grosse Betten mit Moskitonetzen. Kleine Veranda vor dem Zimmer, um zu entspannen. Der Besitzer des Homestay und seine Frau sind freundlich.

Der Besitzer war etwas aufdringlich, er wollte uns z.b. zwei Tickets für den Löwenfelsen aufdrängen (die er bereits gekauft hatte) und wurde etwas ärgerlich, als wir wegen dem schlechten Wetter entschieden, später als geplant hochzugehen (er musste seine Tickets wieder loswerden). Er fragte uns mehrmals, wann wir denn nun los wollen und schien unsere Situation kaum wahrzunehmen. Das selbe mit der Weiterreise. Wir denken, es war gut gemeint, aber etwas Abgrenzung ist nötig, um die eigenen Pläne nicht durcheinanderbringen zu lassen. Etwas stickiges Zimmer und sehr feucht.

Notre première étape au sri lanka après un long vol. Je ne peux que recommander de choisir la maison de lal et malany pour sillonner les sites du triangle culturel. Parfaitement placé pour aller au lion's rock, et escalader le pidurangala. C'est aussi un point central pour rayonner en étoile dans les autres sites. Lal saura être de bon conseil pour optimiser vos déplacements et éventuellement vous trouver un transport. J'ai attendu la fin de notre voyage pour écrire ce commentaire car en sus nous avons passé 3 jours de découverte gastronomique tant au petit déjeuner qu'au dîner. Chaque jour nous avons découvert des plats différents cuisinés avec brio par malany, et dégusté des fruits exceptionnels. Non seulement c'était excellent mais en plus l'abondance de mets nous à permis d'accumuler de l'énergie pour nos longues visites

The friendliness and hospitality from Lal and his wife are the reason you want to stay there. They make HOME for you. Sumptuous Breakfast in the morning. A good base between Sigiriya and Dambulla to visit the tourist spots.

Lal en zijn vrouw waren heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam, staan altijd voor je klaar. Heerlijk en gezellig gegeten, comfortabele ruime kamer. Mooie locatie om te wandelen naar de bezienswaardigheden.

Les chambres en bungalow étaient très confortables et nous avons beaucoup apprécié la galerie devant les chambres nous permettant d'être à l'abri en saison de pluie. La nourriture était très bonne et copieuse.

Friendly homestay, comfortable room for the price. Very nearby to all the local spots - 10 min walk to main strip. Lal organised some tours for us which was helpful. Big breakfast to set you up for the day.

I stayed 2 nights. The best thing about the place are Lal and his wife. Very nice people and helpful. It s a good place for easy going travellers, short stops, and budget travellers. As the cost is really good, you can t expect too much about cleaning or services. But all what is missing, Lal is really good in balancing it with his support everytime you need.

You can go to Sigirya rock by foot. It is really confortable. They can organise tours for you. They are really helpful.

The honer is not always honest with the real price you have to pay.

Very pretty garden setting, and comfortable sweet room with lounge chairs on the porch, a bit removed from the center of town. Lal was very helpful with arranging our elephant safari to Minneriya NP and also suggestions for transportation options, and seeing the local sights. And Nalani cooks up delicious and generous breakfasts!

Lal und seine Familie waren sehr freundlich, das Essen (Frühstück und Abendessen) war reichlich, sehr abwechslungsreich und einfach traumhaft lecker - wir haben auf Wunsch vegetarisch essen können (unser Favorit: Frittierte Bananenblüte mit Mango Chutney und mit Kokos gefüllte Pancakes) , Lal hat uns sehr bei der Reiseplanung unterstützt, super Tipps und Kontakte für Touren vor Ort gegeben, Lal ist ein super Fahrer (er hat uns von Habarana geholt und mit Sightseeing Stops bis nach Nilaveli gefahren), der Vorgarten und die Veranda sind sehr schön

We had a wonderful stay with Lal and his wife Nalini. They cooked us delicious local dinners which we won't forget! They also helped us planing and organizing a trip to Minneriya Nationalpark which we really can recommend.

For visiting Sigiriya, my boyfriend and I stayed for three nights at Lal’s Homestay. Sleeping there was truly a great experience. Not only was the accommodation good, peaceful and well located just outside of the city, Lal and his wife happen to be great hosts. Every morning we had a beautiful Sri Lankan breakfast, he organised a safari with an excellent driver and on the last night, his wife cooked one of the most amazing Sri Lankan dinners we’ve had so far. If you have the chance to try it, I would most certainly recommend it more than any of the other places that we’ve tried in the city center. I would fly back to Sri Lanka again just to have her banana flower in mango chutney.

ご夫婦でやられているホテル。ご主人のバイクの後ろに乗せてもらい、近くを走ると野生の象に遭遇できました。１、２頭出会えたらラッキーなところ、２０頭以上の象を見ることができて大満足でした。 奥さんの作る夕食がとても美味しく、他の滞在者とお喋りしながら食事ができて楽しく過ごせました。

Really lovely and helpful host! I work remotely and had also visited Sigiriya earlier in my trip, but Lal was great at finding activities I hadn't done before and would fit around my work schedule. We went on a bike safari and saw lots of elephants and a gorgeous sunset, he took me to an ayurvedic massage centre, and he even dropped me off for an evening at a hostel my friends were staying at. Great for digital nomads - you can work from the table or there's a cafe with good wifi around the corner ('cappacino bistro'). Helped arrange my journey to the airport too :)

The room was very hot but that was because I didn't book an air conditioned room. Maybe another electric fan would have been good? also the wifi doesn't work from the room.

It’s a beautiful house with a big garden and nice rooms. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. The owner Lal and his family was very friendly and helped with everything I needed. The included breakfast was a very big and delicious mix of Sri Lankan and Western food. I had dinner here as well and it was honestly the best food I‘ve had in Sri Lanka. All the guests can eat together at a sort of all-you-can-eat buffet. Highly recommend this place!

Las habitaciones estan fenomenal, con aire acondicionado y bien ubicado en la ciudad. La comida casera increible tambien. Pero lo mejor de todo son los dueños, Lal es un crack, nos ayudo en todo lo que podia hasta el ultimo momento. Repetiria y lo recomendaria 100%.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr gut gelegen, man kann zu Fuß zum Sigiriya Rock gehen. Der Host ist sehr nett und bemüht, bei Ausflugstipps behilflich zu sein.

Die Klimaanlage wird nur durch eine extra Gebühr, die im Verhältnis zum Unterkunftspreis relativ hoch ist, angeschaltet. Es ist sehr warm im Raum.

Chambre spacieuse mais qui mériterait un rafraîchissement. Lal est à votre disposition pour vous amener dans les environs, moyennant finance. Et son épouse accepte de vous livrer ses recettes de cuisine, merci encore !

L'accoglienza di Lal e la sua famiglia è stata fantastica. Ci hanno consigliato come muoverci per le mete che volevamo visitare, dato provviste quando ne avevamo bisogno e cucinato i migliori pasti che abbiamo avuto in Sri Lanka! Grazie Lal!
