The White House on Bunaken Island

Je profite de cette occasion pour remercier Amanda et son équipe. Nous voyageons énormément avec mon compagnon, nous avons fait beaucoup d’hôtels de toutes sortes, et c’est de loin celui où nous nous sommes sentis le mieux. Comme à la maison, avec un vrai sentiment de sérénité que procurent le lieu et Amanda. Amanda a tout fait pour nous trouver un guide sur place et pour que nous passions le meilleur des moments sur l’île, selon nos envies. Nous avions réservé pour deux nuits car nous faisons un petit tour de l’Indonésie. J’ai eu beaucoup de mal à quitter cette parenthèse de bien-être et, si Amanda n’avait pas eu d’autres hôtes après nous, nous aurions sans doute tout fait pour rester plus longtemps. Nous aimerions revenir, et je pense que cette fois, ce sera en famille. Merci Amanda pour ta gentillesse, tes qualités humaines, ta disponibilité, et de nous avoir fait vivre cette si belle parenthèse ! Sarah & César

We were so well looked after. Amanda, Yani and Marissa are fantastic. The food was amazing. We felt welcome and were able to fully relax. The snorkeling off the wall was amazing…so many turtles! Walls of fish! We would return again in a heart beat. Amanda has thought of it all and is an excellent host. A side note re sunscreen: Bunaken is remote and sunscreen is sold in very small tubes in Indonesia and not easy to find on the island. Pack your own and bring a good sized pack that is coral reef friendly.

Super emplacement,snorkeling, qualité de la nourriture, et surtout de l'accueil. Amanda tient formidablement bien sa maison, et elle a de nombreuses attentions ( lessive, prêt de gilets de sauvetage,...).

L'isolation phonique de la chambre est très légère, avec l'appartement au dessus, et aussi,et surtout, avec l'office, séparé de la tête de lit par une mince cloison

Een prachtig sfeervol ingericht en schoon huis. De locatie is top: op 5 tot 10 minuten lopen van verschillende duikscholen en voor de deur 1 van de mooiste duik en snorkel spots de lekuan 1. Er zijn ook snorkel spullen die je gratis kan gebruiken. Amanda is super lief en zorgzaam en kan een taxi en boot regelen. 3x per dag staat er een uitgebreide maaltijd klaar met elke maaltijd heerlijk fruit.

Het eten was goed en uitgebreid maar voor ons persoonlijk te westers georiënteerd. Wij vonden het in ieder geval leuk om ook een paar keer buiten de deur wat meer lokaal eten en vis te eten.

The White House reflects the aesthetics and values of its Australian owner, Amanda. It is lovingly built and decorated, providing comfort and a true generosity of spirit. In terms of accommodation, it consists of a spacious downstairs room with a veranda facing the sea and a three bedroom upstairs apartment suitable for families or groups of guests. There is a lovely open plan community area as well. Amanda ensures that you eat well at the White House, as the tariff includes three meals and bottomless cups of drinking water, coffee and tea. The meals themselves, prepared by a team of local women in the well appointed kitchen, are plentiful, varied and delicious. Amanda provides free use of snorkeling equipment and kayaks should you want to go for a paddle. She will also arrange transportation to and from Bunaken Island, as well as snorkeling or diving trips within the Marine Reserve. Her boatman, Peter, has a comfortable boat with shade shelter and a ladder to help get in and out during the trip. Finally, Amanda cares about the community of Bunaken. She has arranged and paid for vaccinations of the local dogs and organised medical treatment for her employees when needed.

Everything was perfect.Location was in the village but right on the beach.

Es war einfach alles wunderbar organisiert. Wir hatten das Obergeschoss zur kompletten Verfügung. Amanda ist eine unfassbar tolle Gastgeberin und hat wirklich an alles gedacht. Das Essen ist wahnsinnig lecker und das Personal ist sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Besonders gut hat uns die Ausstattung gefallen. Es sind Kajaks verfügbar und sogar Shampoo, Duschgel, Conditioner und Sonnencreme waren vorhanden.

Amanda is the sweetest host og gladly helps you with everthing you need, and the white house has everything that you need when going on vacation. Perfect place to go out in the kayaks and snorkle. It is in walking distance to the "town centre", jetty and many dive centres.

If you like to sleep in, be prepared that the island life starts early and can be a little noisy, but that is part of the charm.

If you’re heading to Bunaken and want the perfect base to explore the island, The White House is the place to be. 🏡✨ Amanda is the kind of host you secretly wish you could pack in your suitcase and take with you — warm, helpful, and always a step ahead. Need tips? She’s got ‘em. Need a smile? Definitely covered. Need a snorkel mask? Also covered. The location is a dream if you’re into walking, biking, or just pretending you’re on a National Geographic expedition with flip-flops on. 🌴🚲🐠 From here, you can reach every charming corner of the island. Rooms are clean, cozy, and come with the kind of peace and quiet your city soul has been craving. Plus, the vibe here is pure island magic — chill, authentic, and just the right amount of adventurous. Would we come back? In a heartbeat! Just don’t book it out before we do. 😉

We enjoyed our stay at The White House on Bunaken a lot! Amanda is a superb host and Abdon and the whole staff treated us so good during our stay! The room and the house were so clean, you will find everything you need and the food was always spot on. Thank you again for making our stay so pleasant!

The host is very helpful and welcoming and the staff extremely thoughtful. The location (right on the beach) is exceptional. There are games, mask and canoes available for exceptional snorkelling

We had a great time at Amanda's White House. She upgrade our room to the apartment with no additional costs. The White House is superb, beautiful, lovely decorated and all the staff is friendly as our host Amanda. All the meals were included and every time excellent. Complimentary bikes, canoes and also 90 minutes snorkeling tour.

Amanda, the host, built herself and her guests a beautiful hotel and creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We instantly felt at home. Amandas hospitality is beyond extraordinary! She went more than the extra mile to make ourselves with our two children (1.5 and 3.5) comfortable. She organised toys, children beds, children towels, books - just everything we didn't even knew we could wish! The staff is also very nice and Amanda's chef is one of the best on the whole island for sure. If you go to Bunaken - this is where you want to stay!

It was super stylish, extremely clean and the staff was super nice.

We stayed 3 nights at the large apartment on the first floor. The house itself has such a nice atmosphere, the balcony is great for relaxing, the staff is helpful, the food was excellent. We really did not want to leave.

I would recommend to bring earplugs since the local villagers on Bunaken sometimes have a different rhythm of life.

Sincerity, genuine generosity, cleanliness. Everyone who works there were excellent. Amanda is an amazing host, together with Abdon and Yanni the chef and the girls with a big smile on their face all day long. All meals were superb and plenty. One can either snorkel, dive or just sit at the veranda and enjoy the changing view of the tide.

Very Clean!Modern Peacefull Clean decoration,very comfortable bed.Wifi,AC and hot water and fridge that working very well,very well equiped place, excellent services,thought untill over the needed of the guest untill very small thing, excellen communications, Friendly and Helpfull Host of Amanda! Plenty of free cofee, thee ,cookies and water . delicious food. Also Abdon that brought us with his boat to snorkling,swimming within the fishes,turtles evenbrought us back to Manado.Very Recomended romantic white house in Bunaken (made us extend one more night) :)

Amazing Host, Amazing food, Amazing Holiday.

It’s very well designed and very cozy! The food was the best we had across our whole trip. It’s not comparable to other stays on the island or in Sulawesi.

In our opinion, the best place to stay on Bunaken island. The White House is beautiful and has all the amenities you could need for your stay: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, robes etc as well as a whole load of extras: deodorant, make up remover wipes, a light up mirror, snorkelling equipment, plug converters and mosquito net. The decor is lovely and the room was spacious, modern and beautifully designed- with air con! The shower has hot water and the housekeeping daily was great. The rest of the house was also lovely, with a nice area for meals, chairs at the front of the property to relax, sun loungers and another table out the back on a decking on the beach, which has the perfect view for sunset. The sun sets over the volcano, which is an amazing setting. The finish on this place is truly fantastic and a lot of care has gone into making this a lovely place to stay with everything you could possibly need. Amanda, our host went above and beyond to make our stay incredible. Including reaching out before our arrival to enquire about allergies, help us with getting to Bunaken and meeting us as we got off the ferry to welcome us to her beautiful house. Throughout our stay the service has been perfect. The meals, cooked by the wonderful chef Yani have been delicious, varied and plentiful- we have been so well fed. The flavours in her cooking were just fantastic and I’ve had to ask her for one of the recipes! The food all comes from a reliable supermarket in Manado and was very fresh. At The White House, our washing has been done for us and Amanda accommodated an early breakfast when we had an early tour booked. Her, and all her staff here really have made our stay very special- nothing was ever too much. Bunaken island itself was magical. It’s a peaceful island, that hasn’t been overtaken by tourism. The corals were amazing- the best snorkelling I’ve ever done. I’d recommend going to turtle city, where we saw around 30+ turtles, some of which were huge.
