Bliss Lake, Holiday Bungalow, Thissawewa

A beautiful family house away from the chaos . We were travelling with my elderly parents and we all found it very comfortable. It was clean, spacious, calm and luminous! We spent one evening sitting on the veranda having apéro and admiring the sunset. In the mornings, we went for a run near the lake which takes about 5 -10 minutes to get there. We found a couple of restaurants close by that worked well for us too. The hostess was really so kind, patient, great communication and generous (she gave us food and even ice-cream!). We accidentally took one set of house keys with us when we checked out and not once did she make a fuss, instead she coordinated with our driver so it could be posted to her. She deserves all the praise in the world for that! We definitely recommend this place and will come back again in the future.

There were definitely ants but that didn't bother us. We noticed in our travels that ants seem to be a part of srilankan homes. They don't bite. Just eat your food, for which the hostess provided us with a box to store them. It was not an issue for us. The house is lovely and our only recommendation would be to add a cooking top/stove so guests can cook as the house has everything else.

Well equipped and maintained property

We spent two nights here while we were in Anuradhapura. The property is kept clean, and the amenities provided are great. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, so we were able to enjoy our time there. We rented out the entire home, and they even have an area you can climb up to for a view of the surrounding area. The rooms are well kept, and they all have A/C and hot water. I would highly recommend this place for travelers.

The property was very clean, spacious, and in a great location,just a short walk to Thisa Lake and close to the temples. The balcony had beautiful views of nature and a temple in the distance. The staff were friendly and flexible, making our stay very comfortable.

The only small issue was that I expected 5 rooms inside the bungalow, but there were actually 4 inside and 1 located outside, which needs to be requested separately. This wasn’t a big problem as the staff quickly arranged it for us, but it’s good to know in advance. I think most of Sri Lankan guests are happy to share rooms but if guets from overseas, they would like to have their own space. It wasn’t a big deal as the owner arranged it quickly.

The house was supper clean and beautiful. I stayed there with my family two days and we enjoyed it very much. The surrounding environment is very calm and quiet perfectly calming our minds in this city of buddah. And the person who contacted during the stay was super friendly and detailed. I recommend this place for anyone who likes a calm and beautiful place to stay. And the cost per night is also very budget friendly.

De bungalow is erg mooi en comfortabel. Voor iedereen een eigen slaapkamer met badkamer. Vanaf het balkon had je prachtig uitzicht. De ejgenaar reageerde snel op berichtjes en was altijd bereid te helpen.

De ligging van de bungalow is net buiten de voorzieningen. Restaurants liggen op een kleine kilometer afstand. Met een tuktuk prima te doen, maar te voet eigenlijk niet.

This is an excellent place for a family stay. It can easily accommodate 10+ people with an extra driver's room. All bedrooms have A/C. Rooms are spacious, well-maintained, and clean. Having four bathrooms means no rush in the morning if you want to attend a Pooja early. Being off the main street makes it quiet and yet easily accessible to nearby restaurants. The host was nice and attentive to messages. Highly recommend.

Nice, Clean and spacious Villa. The hosts was very welcoming and ensured our needs were met. There is also a room at the back for your driver to stay. We enjoyed ourselves here and recommend it for anyone visiting the area.

Property supposed to have 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms But when we get there there was only 4 rooms and only 3 bathrooms When asked from reception they said one is for office and we didn’t have access So please note as we had issues using toilets and also had to share beds Not happy Also they asked cash payment at checkout

We had an incredible stay! The owner was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests. We arrived a bit late, but the owner was kind enough to assist us when we got there. The house was spotless and perfect for a large family or group of friends. It’s also conveniently close to all the amenities. Highly recommend this place, and thank you again for the wonderful experience!

Beautiful house, perfect for larger groups, we were 7 and it was perfect. Lake close by for a nice walk and apart from that you have the highlight of the house with the big terrace looking over green fields with lots of birds to watch all day long. Would come again every time

Large house in a quiet area away from the busy part of town. Lots of seating areas and nice views from the outside deck and observation deck. The house was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The host was very helpful with providing information on things to do/transport/organising bicycle hire. We have three teenage boys and there was plenty of room for them. Fabulous restaurant ‘Golden Mango aka Mango Mango’ within walking distance - very reasonable prices and delicious food. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

The property is located just about 200m from the Puttalam-Anuradhapura main road, in a calm and quite neighborhood, overlooking a paddifield in the distance. Ideal for a relaxing stay. It takes just about 5 minutes to reach the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi temple. I went with my family, the moment we entered the property, we were really impressed with the cleanliness. The garden, living room, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and everything else was well cleaned and maintained. The place was absolutely spotless. The owners even recommended few places to dine-in & the food was delicious. The place offers everything you look forward for a peaceful and calm stay. Will definitely be going back. Thank You for the hospitality.

It was truly one of the best holiday experiences we’ve had. The bungalow was impeccably clean—the cleanest we’ve encountered during our travels! The attention to detail in maintaining the property was evident, and it made our stay incredibly comfortable. The housekeeper was incredibly hospitable and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Her warmth and kindness really added a personal touch to our stay, and we couldn’t have asked for better service. Overall, we had an amazing time at Bliss Lake and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, well-maintained, and friendly place to stay. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

The only minor issue we experienced was some water dripping into the sitting area from the observation room during a particularly windy, heavy rain. However, we understand that this was likely due to the unusual weather, and it didn't detract from our overall experience.

The rooms and entire property are clean and well-maintained. Privacy is really good. The location of the hotel is also quite convenient.

Great location, big size rooms, good cleanliness and friendly staff. Tall roof, hence not very hot inside. All air-conditioned rooms. Good price too. Highly recommend.
